After standing, holding a glass of wine, and clearing his throat, the Imperium grew silent and awaited the statement of God Emperor His Excellency Commandant Aleksandr Bogdan:

"Ladies and Gentleman, I thank you for attending such an event. I thank you for your hard work, determination, and dedication towards the sustaining and progression of the New State of the PLRK and furthermore, I would like to thank you for your allegiance, trust, and loyalty to the State and the Bogdan Dynasty. For that, you are forever in my favor and held dearly within my heart. Now, I know that the international community is watching so I will give the announcement that I have planned to do. I have decided through an Edict to disseminate and eradicate the current Communistic/Socialist institutions of the Iron Union, remove Minister Theodore Samson from leadership of such an institution and placed back as Minister of PLRK Foreign Affairs. I am therefore, occupying the position of Chairman of the Iron Union and therefore, reconstructing the ideology and intentions of this economic and military Union. No longer shall the Iron Union be correlated to an ideological plague. In a world where the appeal to versions of the Radical Left, there seems to not be a collective voice for governments like ourselves, of which therefore, weakens our stance within the global community. That changes with the Iron Union. Today we become strong. Today we become morally obligated towards representing and uniting Centrist and Right Wing institutions around the world in an economic and military Union that demonstrates the inevitable proliferation of the importance of National Sovereignty and the Rule of Law. Therefore, I am hereby passing an Edict of which shall reconstruct the Iron Union to represent such that. May our solidarity be strong and stable as Iron and may we be the beacon of hope and pure representation for governments of the global community that find themselves isolated, ostracized, and rejected by the international establishment. May this day be one of commemoration of the PLRK's vow to unite and empower these ideological administrations that are constantly at risk of foreign aggression and sabotage. We shall no longer be vulnerable and furthermore, we shall no longer be afraid to promote our ideals and our existence! We, the PLRK, hereby invite all governments from around the world ranging from Centrism (including Center-Left) to Right Wing to come together, join the Iron Union, benefit and become empowered by this multinational supranational organization, grow together as a collective family, and heighten our representation mutually within the global community. I encourage such governments to no longer fear the repercussions of the Left for conjoining with your fellow ideological brothers and sisters. Therefore, the Iron Union is no longer hindered to the African Contingent. We are the ones to unify the Continents and the People under a New Hope...an alternative to the current status quo.

And that is what brings me to my announcement of the government that has agreed to join the newly-reconstructed Iron Union. Axeldonia: Following the entry of the north Axeldonian republic into the war, the tide of the conflict has shifted decisively in the socialist's favour, with a combined three-front offensive managing to isolate and encircle a large piece of insurgent territory, which the government hopes will be forced to capitulate soon without access to supplies. However, the government has chosen set up several checkpoints in the line to let civillians escape despite the risk of undercover insurgents sneaking through.

Greznjev: Being the region least affected by the war, as well as the most industrialized one, Greznjev's industral sector has now upgraded it's capacity to produce more modern armoured vehicles through several state-sponsored initiatives, capped off recently with the formation of the first new mechanized unit since unification. This comes at a relief for many military officials, as most of Axeldonia's armoured capacity was destroyed during its disastrous offensive late last month.

Kraibrezhie: The discussion on the need for the Axeldonian province of Kraibrezhie to form its own autonomus republic has recently escalated with the recent incursion of Insurgents into the territory. The ascension of Kraibrezhie to the level of a republic would mean the province expands its autonomy greatly, gaining things such as independent security forces, the right to manage nearly all affairs save for international representation, the right to collect and distribute taxes as it sees fit and perhaps most controversially the right to secede via referendum. This would make it the first province to upgrade its status since the founding of Axeldonia, as Tavonia was created during the founding of the country itself, and has never been legally considered an integral part of Axeldonia (though the cultural connections between it and Axeldonia go back to almost since the iron age). The provincial government of Kraibrezhie has therefore after a nearly unanimous vote decided to send the Axeldonian government a request to hold a referendum on the issue, which has been approved, though the referendum itself is scheduled to take place right after the impending adminstrative reorganization that will take place after the unification of north and south Axeldonia.

The High Lord Inquisitor, officially makes his speech on the current events of his nation.

After spending few days in Rome i have managed to get the Pope himself to recognise our nation and order as the true leaders of Iberia. And i also confessed my sins to him. Unfortunately i didnt manage to meet the Imperator himself but i just want to say again thank you.

Main events with the pope were focused on middle-east and Jerusalem, his view of heretics and other Christians around the world which arent Catholics. There was also some remembering of crusades. And the last thing was a march of Order made by the inquisition in Rome to praise god and the pope.

Our military aid finally arrived in Axeldonia, bit late but still we hope they find it useful.
We will soon officially create the first small force of our cavalry which will be official MPs (military police)

I also had the chance to meet our only true friend, that at least i can trust. Yes i am talking about the God Emperor. While the meeting was short i finally realised how behind we truly are, there was a great sense of power in his presence, well maybe the guards were the reason but that doesnt matter. Also yes as my people may have heard we are now part of Iron Union, i will remain in the capital of PLR for few more days and then return.
As for our economy, well unemployment is rising extremely, our developing economy makes no progress and its a surprise i have remained in power. We have as many have heard, abandoned socialism and are returning to capitalism, while it may sound bad its better then to remain at a level of African tribes.
Rebels have been losing their support due to new police drones, no welfare that they used to get finances, id numbers of citizens and child soldiers.
Portugal will get much more autonomy than it has currently. Becoming puppet nation which is still technically part of us. With its own government that is under me of course.
International relations dont seem to be getting better. Police will start doing raids at night to ensure security. There will be for the next 2 months a project to build 100 new churches. Repair some infrastructure and rail roads.
The only good thing currently is that we are self sufficient, since we lack most resources due to having no trade agreement we will try to solve this problem with expanding mines and their numbers. As well as using more green energy which is cheaper for us.
We have closed borders with Adenist Union. Slave force will have to increase. Books, and schools are now banned. (except for religious books and schools) Industry is now under the control of the state again. There will be also army training for the defence of the nation day. (preparation of ways to defend against foreign nations and their aggression)

Today, the Imperium announced that God Emperor Aleksandr Bogdan has approved and allocated the necessary land for the development of an official capital for the Iron Union. In his statement, Bogdan stated that although Chertkovo has space that could be used for the capital of the Iron Union, it would be much more prominent, official, and legitimate to have an official capital, separate but fairly close in proximity from the PLRK's capital of Chertkovo. Within the Iron Union's Capital Una Publica, the Central Headquarters for the Global Committee for State Preservation (GCSP), The Coalitional Force for Emergency Stability and Reconstruction (CFESR), and The Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation (GATF). In addition to such will be the Grand Assembly for the Global Committee as well as headquarters for global corporations that operate within the member states and residential areas will be given as well. According to Bogdan, the intent of such a massive capital would be to demonstrate to the world the express interests of modernization and advancement but also a center of collective representation of the Member States. By doing such, the Iron Union is able to grant all member the enhanced means of representation within the global community. In addition to such, it grants all members an area for resources whether they be natural resources, political resources, economic resources, as well as military resources. It is unknown as to when such a capital will be finished; however, in the meantime, Chertkovo will be used as a temporary capital for the Iron Union. Axeldonia: Major ground has been gained this week as the eastern pocket of insurgents capitulated yesteray, allowing government troops to close in and capture the remaining militant. A number of men have now been charged with war crimes as mass-graves have been uncovered along with tales of the shooting and torture of unarmed civillians. These men have been sent to a currently unknown location, with the government having stated nothing of their intended punishment.

In addition, advances on all fronts have been made as Tavonian and Government forces push against them in the south and northern units push down from the north. Several units of insurgents have voluntarily surrendered, suggesting the morale of the troops are begining to falter as their counter-offensives fail to stop the government advance. It is now only a matter of time until a goverment victory is reached.

Greznjev: With the pressure of the war finally fading, the Axeldonian supreme chairman Aleksei has now put forward a proposal to the nations of europe: a platform for the european nations to voice their concerns to one another. The statement in full reads as follows:

"Men and Women of Handland, the past few weeks have tried our great nation. The nation still mourns the loss of its' great King, King Galloway Hand. What has happened since the regicide though will now change the course of our nation. Huvudman Lindquist has stepped down from office. The great and wise man chose me, Hakon Pettifer, as his successor. After taking the news in after meeting with him, I got straight to work. I gathered the military governors appointed over Handland and we created a provisional government. With the ideas created and agreed upon during this time, I am proud to say that Handland is now a Republic. The Monarchy is no more. We have notified the Royal Family of our decision, and they agreed to cooperate. They will live out their lives as normal, and retain all their property and such, but will have not political power or voice.
The nation has been organized into 15 states, which make up 3 regions. States will be run by a Councilman, which are elected to their position via the state's governing body the State Council. The 5 state councilmen will report to the region's House of Commons. The House of Commons is run by and elected Governor of the region. The Governor reports to the House of Burgesses. There the 3 Governors meet and elect a President of Handland. As of right now, I am President of Handland. We will release more soon on the new Handlandian government system.
Ladies and Gentlemen of Handland, do not be alarmed by these changes. Many things will still continue. Our crusade against the Bolsheviks will not be stopped. We will remain in the Iron Union, but most of all, Handland first. God Bless."

Imperium General of the Army Andrew Gerasimov Announces Advancements and Modernization to the PLRK Imperial Army:




"Glory to His Excellency Aleksandr Bogdan and the Imperium. May He Bring Peace. Today I was given authorization by Emperor Bogdan to announce the modernization of the Imperial Army of the Empire of the PLRK. The High Military Command of the Imperium has approved of our new lighter body armor system. The armor will provide more protection as our previous armor system. In addition , with this lighter body armor system, there will be more comfort, and greater flexibility to adjust based on the mission. The Soldier Protection System (SPS) is the Army’s next generation Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) system. SPS is a modular, scalable, tailorable system designed to defeat current threats at a reduced weight in comparison to the Army’s existing PPE. The SPS is based on the parallel development of five subsystems:

1) The Vital Torso Protection (VTP) includes lighter-weight Enhanced Small Arm Protective Inserts/Enhanced Side Ballistic Inserts (ESAPI/ESBI) as well as the X Threat Small Arms Protective Inserts (XSAPI)/X Threat Side Ballistic Inserts (XSBI) for deployers.

2) The Torso and Extremity Protection (TEP) is further comprised of multiple components to include the Modular Scalable Vest (MSV), the Ballistic Combat Shirt (BCS), the Blast Pelvic Protector (BPP) and the Load Distribution System (LDS).

3) The Integrated Head Protection System (IHPS) will include a 5 percent-lighter-weight helmet system comprised of helmet/maxillofacial and passive hearing protection with increased blunt impact performance.

4) The Transition Combat Eye Protection (TCEP) will include ballistic protective eyewear capable of transitioning from light to dark and dark to light in less than one second, providing a 10 percent increase in fragmentation. This capability aids Soldiers in a combat environment to move rapidly in varying light conditions.

5) The Integrated Soldier Sensor System (ISSS) will include a multifaceted sensor system capable of measuring heart rate, temperature and hydration levels, and will include a data retrieval system.

SPS increases the warfighter’s lethality, mobility and modularity by optimizing Soldier protection while effectively reducing weight with the latest technologies and managing all lifecycle aspects of personal protective equipment. SPS replaces the capability of multiple current systems to provide the Soldier with an overall 10 percent weight reduction. SPS provides the Soldier with multiple levels of ballistic protection tailorable to a broad range of missions. This modular, scalable approach increases Soldier survivability and mobility and contributes to increased force protection.

VTP achieves 8-14 percent weight reduction over the current plates

Ballistic Combat Shirt: Designed to be worn with a ballistic vest, the shirt consists of protection on the upper back, upper chest and neck, while completely covering the arms with ballistic-protective sleeves. The material has a similar feel to the Army combat shirt, but is more comfortable and offers ballistic fragmentation protection, Brown said. It also eliminates the need for the Deltoid Auxiliary Protector, an add-on to the IOTV which has driven soldier complaints for being bulky and obstructive. The shirt is moisture-wicking and has a degree of breathability, adding to comfort.

Load Distribution System: With weight cut by advanced materials, Brown said, the Army managed to add a new element while cutting weight overall – one that distributes remaining weight more comfortably. The LDS consists of a ballistic combat belt that flows underneath the vest and a load-bearing spine that distributes weight to the waist rather than putting it all on the shoulders.

Plates: The hard plates are 7 percent lighter than their current protection equivalents. The options provide modularity in strength and weight for different missions and fit for different bodies, including two new plates tailored to female body types. As with the ballistic material on the vest and shirt, fully loaded, the plates and vest are able to defeat the most prevalent threats on the battlefield. Furthermore, there is no degradation of performance, only enhancement.

For our Kevlar Vests, we have decided that it would be much better long term that we enhanced our Kevlar technology with Liquid Armor. This type of body armor is light and flexible, which allows soldiers to be more mobile and will not hinder an individual from running or aiming his or her weapon. The key component of liquid armor is a shear thickening fluid (STF). STF is composed of hard particles suspended in a liquid. The liquid, polyethylene glycol, is non-toxic, and can withstand a wide range of temperatures. Hard, nano-particles of silica are the other components of STF. This combination of flowable and hard components results in a material with unusual properties. During normal handling, the STF is very deformable and flows like a liquid. However, once a bullet or frag hits the vest, it transitions to a rigid material, which prevents the projectile from penetrating the Soldier's body. To make liquid armor, STF is soaked into all layers of the Kevlar vest. The Kevlar fabric holds the STF in place, and also helps to stop the bullet. The saturated fabric can be soaked, draped, and sewn just like any other fabric. The goal of the technology is to create a new material that is low cost and lightweight which offers equivalent or superior ballistic properties as compared to current Kevlar fabric, but has more flexibility and less thickness.

This material shall be placed in a soldier's sleeves and pants, areas that are not protected by ballistic vests but need to remain flexible. We will also use this material for bomb blankets, to cover suspicious packages or ordnance that has not exploded. Liquid armor will even be applied to jump boots, so that they would stiffen during impact to support Soldiers' ankles. Other than the armed forces, liquid armor in Kevlar vests will be given to help those who work in law enforcement. Liquid armor is much more stab resistant than conventional body armor. This capability is especially important for prison guards, who are most often attacked with handmade sharp weapons.

Axeldonia: The situation for the Axeldonian insurgents looks grimmer and grimmer as government forces close in, taking swathes of insurgents prisoners during their advance. The governments of north and south have now reached the final stages of unification talks and the official unification is scheduled to take place once the war is over, which most members of the Axeldonian military predict will be within the week. Insurgent forces are now holed up in the town of zŭrnopole, declaring that they will "fight to the last man" as the combined forces prepare a last offensive into insurgent territory. "What we're most worried about is that insurgent fighters will go underground and become a true terrorist insurgency, though we hope to be able to dissolve the group with the least amount of bloodshed possible."

Axeldonia: As unification and the destruction of the insurgent forces grow more and more imminent, small groups of Axeldonian conservatives, fascists and religious extremists have taken to the streets both in territories newly reclaimed from insurgents and in North Axeldonia, as some there see the unification as a mistake as long as Axeldonia is in any way left-leaning. Riot police and counterprotestors are now fighting reactionaries in the streets, though there has yet to be reports of any injuries or deaths. Around 50 reactionary rioters have already been arrested, with more predicted to be arrested as the riot subsides. "It's really quite disturbing, these people clamour for the opression and genocide of people like me", says local Tavonian emigree Tania Kastanovich.

As the Free State moves in to claim land in the Northwest Corridor against the Republic of Somaliland, a long-running conflict has recently flared up in response to the Free State-led campaign. The rival administrations of the Awdalland State of Somaliland and Zeila & Lughaya State of Somaliland have held claims over the Awdal Region, a first-level administrative unit in the Commonwealth de facto claimed by the Republic of Somaliland since 1992.

While the Republic's Armed Forces have held the Awdal Region with little conflict, the recent move by Somaliland's Ministry of Defence to bolster the forces stationed in Lawyacado has left most of the Awdal Region without armed support. In response, both the Awdalland and Zeila administrations have released conscription orders to support their state defence forces. Despite this, both forces are considered weak and unsuited for conventional warfare as expected in the north; in contrast to the Republic's Army, the Awdalland and Zeila's Land Forces are noted to lack proper weapons and equipment, forcing most towns to host militias.

These militias, however, have led to an increase in skirmishes over full control of the Awdal Region, further compounded by both states have separate capitals (Awdalland has held Boorama in Southern Awdal while Zeila has held the eponymous city in the north). Despite the potential of an armed conflict, it is believed that Zeila & Lughaya may face additional conflict with the Somaliland Republican Army, particularly with the close proximity between Lawyacado and Zeila.

NST-T Fully Integrated Into Free State Unified Security Forces
(Assab) New developments have occurred as a former faction in the National Salvation Tribunal has now become the leading unit in the newly-christened Southern Army. The National Salvation Tribunal - Transition, primarily composed of the former Commonwealth Unified Security Forces 12th Division, 4th Regiment of the 7th Division, and the 2nd Regiment of the 3rd Division, had been considered the moderate force in the original NST and served as one of the many factions opposed to the NST's Chairman General Isabelle Askar announcing the eventual annexation of the Commonwealth with the People's Liberation Republic under Theodore Samson.

After the civil war between the NST-U (Unionists, the members aligned under Chairman Askar and PLR annexation) and the NST-S (Separatists, the first of the factions to split off, led by Vice Chairman Lieutenant General Khamis Hammami), the NST further divided into the NST-I (Islamists, a faction allied with the Islamic kritarchy United Islamic Courts and its armed wing the Ardayga Islaamka Maleeshiyaadka) and the NST-T (which eventually leaked reports from NST High Command concerning PLR bombings of civilian villages in the NST-held territories of Somaliland). With support from the Free State, the NST-T assisted in the rebuilding of Hordio, a village in the Puntland State of Somaliland that was part of a conflict between the Puntland Dervish Force and units from Handland assisting in the PLR's campaign.

As of now, the NST-T's leader, Lieutenant General Akhmad Kabilov has declared his intent to integrate a small part of the Southern Army with the Commonwealth Defence Battalion, in particular the CDB's Anti-Terrorism Service, which lost several of its agents following an ambush on the ATS's training center, CDB Command Center Delta at the border of Medri Bahri and Puntland. The recruits are expected to begin training in Asmara, which has been governed by the CDB following the overthrow of Medri Bahri's government by the CDB; after training, the agents are expected to begin interrogations on Ardayga members captured in Djibouti following an attack on Command Center Epsilon (formerly known as Camp Lemonnier).

The NST-T signed off on a concordat with the Free State in Assab International Airport, which had been used as an ATS training center and as the offices for the Free State's Office of the President and the Federal Council. At the signing of the concordat, Lieutenant General Kabilov consulted with the Interim Executive Council and its leader, Premier of the Cabinet Alessandra Hersi over logistics and supplies being sent with the new unit, especially with the Free State's push to the Northwest Corridor and CDB being preoccupied with the transition to democracy in Medri Bahri. Despite concerns, the IEC promised support with the Puntland Dervish Force and parts of the Puntland Region's Armed Forces.

Axeldonia: In a surprising turn of events this week, insurgents launched a major offensive, allegedly supported by foreign arms (see article below). The insurgents have managed to encircle the Axeldonian 2nd infantry battalion, nicknamed "The battalion from hell" due to its high number of casualties during the height of the war. Nearly all lines of communication to the pocket have been cut, with many fearing the total annihalation of the unit should it be overwhelmed by insurgents.

Tavonia: The Tavonian government today revealed that their anti-air units spotted a convoy of planes over insurgent airspace yesterday. When said planes refused to answer attemts to contact them, the tavonian units opened fire, shooting down one of the planes, which crashed into the wilderness and has yet to be found. The government has now officially declared a no-fly zone over insurgent territory and declares that all airplanes that are not from the government air force will be shot down. "We are appaled that a foreign actor would violate our sovereignty like this. We will not tolerate outside aid to the insurgents" Said Chairman of foreign affairs at a press conference earlier today.

A muslim Republic?

Greznjev: As the war rages on and Kraibrezhie prepares for its referendum, the question of a muslim autonomous republic has now been raised in the chambers of Greznjev. Muslims have been known to receive some of the most brutal treatments from the insurgent army and like the population of Kraibrezhie, many now demand autonomy to protect themselves. Several challenges would face an autonomous muslim republic however: It would be very poorly placed geograpically, most likely being split into several distinct parts as the majority muslim areas of Axeldonia are not geographically connected. Most of these areas are also very rural, with most of the population subsisting off of small-scale farming. There's also the question of unity: are muslim Axeldonians really that different from other Axeldonians? While the other autonomous peoples have a clearly defined culture and history apart from Axeldonia, the situation isn't quite the same with the muslims. Nevertheless, the government has promised to consider the issue and the possibility of a second referendum. Who knows what the future holds?

"What I think about the Axeldonian crisis is not really going to change anything will it? Their people are going to continue to suffer. From what I was able to observe and the information that I have received is that currently, Axeldonia is split into four different regions, for a sake of better terms. Because of this, their levels of instability are due to only increase as the war goes on and furthermore, because the central Axeldonian authority is refusing international help to assist in the preservation of the remaining levels of National Sovereignty and Security, this is only going to get worse. Looking at all of the forces that are involved and the calls to become Autonomous Republics, such a crisis could have been resolved prior to the brink of civil war. However, such a reality is what happens most commonly within a Communistic-oriented society that attempts to micromanage the very levels of everyday life of their citizens. Now blood is being spilled but for what? No true change is going to happen if they go back to the previous institutions; therefore, it becomes a repeating cycle.

If I would have intervened, it would have been a different ending, or at least an alternative that I believe that a majority of the Axeldonian population would be in favor of because it grants the opportunity and ability to be individualistic and innovative without fear of forceful government intervention and hostility. The people of Axeldonia are seeking for a brighter and better solution to their current struggles and abhorrent living conditions. They absolutely deserve better than what they are receiving. However, because the government of Axeldonia is rather hesitant in allowing for foreign intervention, I shall remain hesitant in my approaching to the situation. Humanitarian aid could be granted; however, why would I want to grant leverage to supporters of Communism, or illogical Radical Socialism. That sort of possibility is out of question. However, what I am willing to do is to remind the people of Axeldonia that the Empire of the PLRK understands their struggle, for we understand first hand experience the turmoil, sorrow, destruction, and instability that they are currently facing. We cannot be oblivious of the violent Communist revolution of 1968-1970 as well as the bloody colonization of our people back in the 1600s. We understand and we hear their sorrows and their calling for change; however, the Empire of the PLRK shall send assistance if the people passively allow themselves to be reoccupied by Communistic institutions and micromanagement. It is tragic; however, the one thing that I can promise is that I will continue to observe the situation much more closely within the coming days and possibly my mind could change. But as of right now, I do not see a productive, prosperous, nor modernizing future for the people of Axeldonia if they allow for any side that is fighting win and occupy the central governing institutions."

The latest appropriation bill of the Government had to pass the House of Representatives today. Between other provisions, it included a tax cap at 30%. While the Conservative majority applauded the bill, every party from Centre-left to Far-hard-left were at high alert. Especially, the Social Democratic Party and the Socialist Unity Party. They argued that the Government destroyed the middle and the lower class. In reply, the Lord President and the Minister of the Treasury suggested they looked their record in the Treasury

President Pettifer has announced that Handland will be switching to the gold standard, and also taking a more active roll in the world. President Pettifer has had this to say about the Republic of Handland:

Flynnvakian Elections Looming

As Julia Weber's term is coming to a close. The race for the election of her replacement has come forth. Currently there are 3 major candidates running for the Presidency. Running for the Flynnvakian Freedom Party (FFP) is Holger Kromer who is known for his tough stance on abortion and states "If I am elected, I will be closing all abortion clinics within 100 days of my inauguration." Kromer does however have some controversy surrounding him; many news outlets are digging into Kromer's past and finding out that he once did Heroin and also wrote a book called "Why Blacks are better as Slaves". After the news gained ahold of this information, Kromer's current support has been slowly dropping from 44% to 39% of the vote. Running for the People First Party (PFP) is Berta Cossman. Cossman is an internet feminist known for being very pro-women's rights and even has gone so far in many reports to have "Banned men from some rallies". Cossman currently sits on 26% of the vote and is expected to reach 30% by week's end. A new party has reached center stage known as the Flynnvakian Workers Party with their candidate Aaron Guttenberg. Guttenberg hails from a low-class family and is a strong supporter of worker's rights and healthcare for the populous. Guttenberg has 35% of the vote and is expected to overtake Kromer with the lead in a few weeks. Flynnvakia's elections come at a key point in time due to rising tensions in Flynnvakia's Arnheim district where over the past 3 weeks, a riot broke out over the suspicious death of politician Marc Hansch and several instances of attempted massacres have occurred.
