A territory with an open mind and an uncertain future. Keverai was granted its independence in 1931 following a trend towards promoting decolonisation. This trend was not actually the case. Scarred by the invasion and liberation during the First Imperial War, a new Keveraite Government did not retreat from the international stage. Instead, it ran to itwith arms wide open - deregulation amongst other policies made Keverai a uniquely internationalist entity for the time. Successive neoliberal governments surged forward with their plans to make Keverai a paradise for businesses and those who owned them. However, not everything went to plan - a revolt occured and the first truly democratically elected leader was installed in 2018. Today, the territory is disoriented and confused, seeking to forge itself a different path - one that it is not sure of, but certainly one that is not isolationist.

So, collaboration with Keverai and brining life to this thread after three years...

Me and Ainslie have talked from time to time about Aprosians in Keverai, what they do, how they do it and more. With Ainslie seemingly wanting to work more on Keverai, we settled on 11.9% of the population in Keverai being Aprosian. We have also talked about a few other things today and in the past, so gonna put them up here...

1) Aprosian ethnic enclaves in urban areas. This might be more for the lower class Aprosians, with upper-middle class Aprosians and up living in fancier places.

- These places would also be the heart of the Aprosian organized crime in in Keverai (on 3), with gambling dens, tea houses, bars and other businesses used for money laundering, smuggling and more.

2) A noticeable social class divide within the Aprosian community, with Aprosians "owning and being cheap labor". The majority of Aprosians in Keverai came there during the first turbulant decades of Aprosian independence, from around 1950 to around 1985. A lot of the former upper class came in with parts of their fortune and established businesses and a lot of other refugees with pretty much no money and just looking to feed themselves and get a roof on top of their head.

- Ainslie also proposed that the said Aprosian upper class would have also funneled funds to Aprosia before and during (correct me if I am wrong) the Second Imperial War. Ainslie also mentioned Aizcona not knowing this due to secretive banks. With the end of the Second Imperial War and the start of the 500-Day Program (Aprosia's market reforms), they would also be early investors into Aprosia, using their knowledge of the culture, language and personal connections to become a serious competition to other foreign investors.

3) Aprosian organized crime. I have talked about this from time to time in the Discord, including with Ainslie on the subject of Aprosian organized crime in Keverai. Like in other places outside of Aprosia, these gangs would maintain some connections with the Aprosian gangs in Aprosia proper and have done smuggling into and from Aprosia. Imagine ordinary stuff like foreign goods, foreign films and music, and of course more illegal stuff like guns, drugs and people.

These are the things that I atleast remember talking with Ainslie on Keverai.

Nhoor and Keverai have relations since the Imperial War, when Nhoor was still a dependency of Razzgriz's predecessor states and Nhoor soldiers were sent to Keverai to help liberate Keverai between 1944-1948. In the years after the Imperial War, Nhoor provided financial assistance to Keverai in the latter's effort to rebuild the country. After Nhoor gained full independence from Razzgriz in 1969, official relations between the two countries were established, with col. Ƨwqws Cillaches (1911-1984), who was one of the most prominent Nhoor participants in the liberation of Keverai, becoming Nhoor's first ambassador to Keverai.

So, here’s some ideas around Keverai I’m looking to do in the near future.

INDENTURED SERVITUDE STORYLINE

Too many TWI nations have indentured servitude without much scrutiny. Time to put a spanner in the works of that. Here’s the idea:

• Someone has a state visit with Keverai that has indentured servitude. Keverai increases foreign worker permits, allowing more migrant workers in Keverai
• Suspicion arises that Keverai may be unwittingly or ignorantly letting indentured servants into the nation.
• Coincidentally a nation looks around and notices that indentured servitude is legal in some countries; notices Keverai’s behaviour which could fuel it although there is no proof, and there will not be any.
• This second nation tries to introduce a resolution banning indentured servitude in the League.
• We can just play it from there… we’ll see if servitude gets banned or not and the implications from there.

APROSIAN STATE VISIT

• Hamaném visits the Aprosian community in Keverai; opens what Renaut calls a ‘cultural embassy’ which is really just a large community centre.
• Hamaném and Renaut, along with business leaders, strike a deal to pilot a rural development program where some of the sweatshops abandoned or acquired by the Keverai Government to be converted into factories by Aprosian businesses. This is a policy the Aprosian Government is looking to implement, so Keverai could provide a good testing ground for it.

HIGH SPEED RAIL

• A high speed rail line is to be constructed from Kevara via Hivere to Southport and then tunnelled through a shallow part of the straight into Aizcona and eventually Estra, the capital. It will replace cars and ferries.
• That means it’ll hopefully be good for jobs, good for linking the rural areas to rich cities (Which brings up its own problems), it’ll be privately owned which means it’ll pay itself back apparently. Renaut will flog it over being good for reducing emissions.
• If someone’s got a good firefighting force in Central or Southern Argus or into the western part of the Southern Sea, would they mind fighting some fires a year or so ago? It’d be the storyline I have with Scantarbia over it, which you can find via the keverai in the news thread link in the opening post.

Aizcona - "I was thinking about that. I would like us to get a meeting going. I was thinking post the flyover"

Aprosia - "Detante meaning that while both sides are trying to go for more favourable relations, we'd mostlikely still do our shit but more covertly. Yes, like a proper bilateral meeting"

Aizcona - "I would like to get more covert stuff going and I do think that Aizcona would like to put the IW2 stuff behind us for the most part as I don't think Aizcona would want to beef with the ET much. Probably just you stick to your area we stick to ours and try to not get into each other's way too much"

Aprosia - "Exactly. Both of us stick to our own turfs (ignore Aprosia supporting Balnik in Gael :truejoy: ) while Aprosia would try to go for an understanding of common influence in Keverai. Understanding that, while yes, Aizcona has its influence over Keverai, Aprosia wishes for the diaspora community there to be left alone and lowkey under Aprosian influence. Sort of "dividing" spheres of influence"

Aprosia - "Overall this would, in my own eyes, be considered a pretty big diplomatic benefit for Aprosia ICly. Aizcona has been a big opponent of Aprosia historically (what we also need to work on), so with this dividing of spheres, I OOCly imagine Aprosia would have more peace at doing its own shit in the eastern parts of SS"

Aizcona - "And at the end of the day it would make Aizcona happy as Aizcona mostly wants to just assert its domain over South Argus and the Western part of the Southern Seas"
