The Northern Visit (Private; att Ilha das Tempestades)

Postby Onorus » Tue Jul 11, 2017 8:07 am

The chilly air of the Onorussian port of Kirskov was something that most people in the city were used to, but today the air was instead warmer than usual. A balmy fifty two degrees, practically unheard of in the far north island nation. Then again, it was summertime, so warmer temperatures were to be expected. The trees were green and flowers were blooming, and for the most part the snow had melted, allowing green grass to grow in its stead. The normally restricted portion of the Port District, which was restricted for Naval vessels, was unusually busy as well on this fine day. Several docked destroyers had been moved to make room for a new vessel, a diplomatic vessel of all things.

Standing on the dock, accompanied by several men in black fatigues and body armor, was a young man in similar attire. He wore the black fatigues, and intimidating jackboots, but he lacked the body armor. He was well known on the island as Altair Occisor, son of the Imperator. At the moment he was watching two navy destroyers escort the diplomatic ship to the dock, a large grin forming on his face. It had been quite some time since he had seen the diplomat on that ship, back when he had still been recovering from a rather nasty injury... Now he was back on his feet, however. As he watched the gangplank come off the ship and onto the dock, Altair walked to the edge and waited. There was some official reason for the visit, something trivial and boring that Altair didn't care about enough to remember. All he cared about was the diplomat that had been sent, and just how long it had been since they had seen each other.

Finding reasons to travel and excuses to get up to Onorus was growing tough for Shamara. She was first and foremost her sister's enforcer, not a diplomat. IDT seldom had much interest in diplomacy with neighbors much less a country hundreds of thousands of miles away. Thankfully she was able to convince Valenzuela to let her go to the northern shores of the country of her lover, Altari. He did after all come all the way to see her now she wanted to return the favor. Just in case something official needed to be done she was traveling with a Councilwoman, Vitoria who specialized in foreign intrigue and diplomacy if the situation called for it. Frankly she was expecting she might end up spending most of her time on the boat than ashore, she knew Shamara's motives were to see Altari. Vitoria and Shamara stood atop the deck watching as they went into shore. They tried to prepare for this trip, not so much for the sea trip but for the cold by spending time in the snowy peaks of IDT.

"Might as well have just said the deposed duchess was here." Vitoria remarked

"Ah I tried that. She didn't buy it this time. She's more convinced she's either hiding out deep in IDT or nearby AHSCA if anything."

"Assuming she survived, more than likely she was eaten by a wild tiger or drowned in a river. Alas Senora Valenzuela is not so easily fooled, even by her espionage agent. Hum it's not as cold as I thought"

"Now that you mention it, yeah I expected it way colder."

Ships horns sounded off "Well there's your beaux I suspect."

Shamara could hardly contain herself once the gangplank settled she nearly leapt from it to Altair's arms.

Altair smiled widely as he was reunited with Shamara, hugging her just as tightly as she was hugging him while the other security personnel began to secure the dock for any other passengers that wished to depart the diplomatic vessel. Altair broke the hug after some time, taking a couple seconds to drink in Shamara's beauty. He himself was looking a fair bit better than he had when he had visited her, having lost his cane and actually gaining some muscle to his biceps.

"Shamara! I can't believe you're here!" Altair said cheerfully as he gently rested his hands on her shoulders, he grinned a bit wider, his face also seemed to have a bit of a five o'clock shadow. "I was worried you wouldn't have been able to get here, I know it's a very long journey." The man began walking with her towards a black armored truck, the third in a convoy of three similar vehicles, though the others had men on machine gun turrets riding in them. "Sorry about the high level of Security, but I wanted to make sure that we made it out of the city in one piece. While Kirskov is the closest Diplomatic Port, it also has a high level of crime."

"Aah never underestimate us Tempies, my dear Altair! We have managed to tame the wild beasts the seas of Venus are no more a threat." She boasted "It's good to see you, Altair, you already looks much better than when you visited me." The site of the trucks the guns were rather unnerving but it was Altair, she didn't feel she had much to worry about. "Ah it's understandable."

Altair held the door open for Shamara and helped her climb into the truck, it was actually rather nice inside, with comfortable leather seats, a small refridgerator with drinks in it, and the radio was playing one of the top hits on the Onorussian charts. The man climbed in behind her and closed the door with a heavy thud. There were windows, allowing them each to look out at the city in the distance, and to see the massive mountain just beyond that, there was still a good amount of snow on its slopes, unlike the rest of the island.

"My family is looking forward to seeing you again, my mothers have been asking me non-stop when you'd be coming to visit ever since the Christmas Party." Altair said as he sat down, he seemed to be a lot happier than usual to his compatriots who were driving the truck, but that was because they'd never seen him with Shamara before. Altair reached over and took a green bottle from the fridge, a red eagle was on the label, as well as words in Onorussian. If Shamara had been studying the language, she'd know it said 'Fire Eagle', which was the most popular soda in Onorus. "They really like you, so don't feel intimidated when you talk to them, okay? Mother Luna can come off a bit... Harsh. But she means well, she's just very protective."

"Aah it's understandable. I mean you saw how protective my sister was of me, I should only expect the same from your loving and caring family. Actually I brought somethings for them, it's nothing to special or amazing." Reaching into her bag she pulled out something sparkling "A ruby stone. Froged from Cimeira do inferno. It's one of the volcanoes that dots our lands. Quite an angry one at that. Just so happened to blow again shortly after you left. But around it's base are many precious stones. Rubies are commonly a courting gift for any man or woman brave, perhaps foolish enough to brave the slopes around it. I figure it best show my devotion. But that's not all I found." she reached again inside pulling out an orb "Along the way here we were caught in a mighty storm and what should wash upon the decks but dozens of oysters. One containing a pearl. Quite a sight I've never seen before. Only a true signs from the heavens. Speaking of...Amber" she pulled out another stone of amber "This from a few dozen rocks piled on a beach. Another common courting gift. This one is for you."

"Thank you very much, Shamara... I wanted to give you something as well, but I thought it would be better to do it once you had settled in." Altair accepted her gift with a warm smile, meanwhile the trucks began driving along. Altair briefly looked out the window as they approached the gate leading to the main road, as expected he saw there were several other military vehicles parked there. On his belt, next to an empty holster, was a walkie talkie which briefly buzzed with chatter before he quickly turned it off. "Again, I'm sorry for the tight security..." The man leaned back in his seat and smiled. "It means a lot that you came to visit, I want you to feel like Onorus is as much your home as it is mine."

The trucks began driving on the highway, passing by numerous buildings and factories, which was a far cry from the smaller city Altair had seen when visiting Shamara's home. In the distance, over the ocean, thick and heavy clouds were rolling in. It seemed the warm weather was going to be short lived.

"I apologize if I seem a little... Awkward. I've never shown someone around my country before, I mean, I have... But those were all diplmatic, this meeting I was hoping would be more special." Altair quietly adjusted his belt and looked into Shamara's eyes. "Once we're out of the city we can maybe stop and see some of the sights, if you want? There's plenty to see along the way to the palace."

"Ah it's quite all right, security is needed than it's needed, nothing for me to be concerned about. Unless someone wants to get too graby with frisking." She giggled a little.

"Oooh those clouds on the horizon, must be a storm coming in, si? Well I'd suppose they'd be different from ours, more snow and cold." She then blushed and looked basful not wanting to admit she didn't have many attractions in mind because she didn't know much about Onorus. "Well, actually I'd like to meet your family first if I could. I'm sure they're eager to meet me too, and I've come such a long way I should get my things settled in too."

"As you wish." Altair said with a smile before he looked out the window again at the storm clouds, meanwhile outside the sound of air raid sirens began to blare loudly. "It seems this is a Ghost Storm..." The man trailed off, then looked at Shamara again. "They're unique to this region, fast forming snow storms that can last for days sometimes. They get their name because of the howling winds that sound like... Well... Ghosts." Altair stood up from his seat and instead moved to sit next to Shamara as the storm got closer. "It may seem a bit odd, but I've always liked Ghost Storms... Something about them just resonates with me." Snowflakes at that point began to fly past the windows and the wind began to pick up, the trucks were starting to slow down with the reduced weather conditions. In the distance was the palace, it wouldn't be long before they arrived. Altair looked at Shamara with a warm expression before he put an arm around her and leaned his head closer. "I missed you, you know? I can't really put just how much I missed you into words."

"Oh my I guess I'll be here a while then." Not that she could complain about that "Aww I had hopped during your stay we'd have a large storm to keep you there but go figure the weather was so nice during that time. Well better late than never." She then blushed red once he got closer. She was still like a school girl turning to dough when he was close with her. "I did too."

Altair smiled slightly, even if he wasn't too keen on making Shamara blush he couldn't help but think she was absolutely adorable. The sound of the wind outside grew louder and more intimidating, but thankfully the trucks had turned and were making there way up the driveway to the palace. Spotlights on guard towers cut through the snow and fog that was rolling in while the trucks passed through the main gate and made their way towards the palace doors. They stopped at the very front, waiting outside the front door were three figures in heavy fur coats.

"It looks like my parents decided to wait outside for us..." Altair said as he stood up and opened the door, he stepped outside first and offered his hand up to Shamara to help her down while his parents simply stood a couple feet away. "I hope you don't mind hugs, my mom's are very big on hugging visitors."

"Oh my!" She was hardly ready then she was told his mom was a hugger "Aw how sweet, I don't mind in the slightest." she took his hand as she stepped out this exotic dark skinned beauty stood out in the snow and ice of this land but she was holding her composure. "Aaah HELLO!" She blurted out, maybe not as composed as she thought.

The two women standing next to the Imperator smiled warmly at Shamara, the first to approach her was Maria Occisor, the Alpha Imperatrix and Altair's biological mother. She wore a brown fur coat to protect her from the elements, her pale skin was smooth like silk. She wrapped Shamara in a great big hug, as was customary in Onorus when welcoming a friend or family member.

"Welcome! Welcome! So good to see you again!" Maria said in a cheerful voice before letting go, making way for the other woman, Beta Imperatrix Luna Occisor. She was the Imperator's second wife, and just as much a mother to Altair as Maria. She wore a black fur coat, though it seemed less thick than Maria's, it was still just as warm when she hugged Shamara.

"We have waited so long to meet the woman who holds our son's heart! I look forward to getting to know so much more about you!" Luna said in that same cheerful tone, she let go of Shamara as Altair walked closer. The young man was suddenly wrapped in two sets of arms as Luna and Maria hugged him at once. Dominic Occisor, Altair's father, approached lastly and simply offered his hand to Shamara. He had gained a little muscle since Shamara had seen him at the Christmas party, but there was still that warm glint to his eyes.

"Please, come into our home, before you catch something in this cold." Dominic said as he gestured towards the front door, Altair had since managed to break free from his mothers' embrace and get back to Altair's side. "I trust you told her about the length of these storms, Altair?"

"I did, father." Altair said as he walked towards the door and held it open for Shamara and the others. "I just hope that it lets up enough for us to enjoy a trip around the island."

"Ooho thank you so much" She shivered she was a bit more tolerant of the cold than when she first came to Onorus but she was still a girl from the tropics. Still the big hug felt nice and warm and welcoming. "Oh it's great to meet you too. I also brought gifts too." She pulled the stones from her bag she explained their significance just as she had told Altair moments ago. "I hope you'll like them."

"Oh, bless your heart, you didn't need to do such a thing, deary!" Maria said as Altair closed the door behind them while they walked through the Palace entry way. There were two guards there, wearing bright olive colored uniforms, shining gold buttons and large black hats. These were the honor guards, dressed in their traditional uniforms first introduced during the Napoleonic era. "We're more than happy to accept them."

"Indeed." Altair's father said in his usual baritone manner. "I've already given orders to have your bags taken to your room... Unless you want to share a room with Altair." There was a smirk on the man's face as he said this, meanwhile Altair's face had become a very bright shade of red.

"Don't tease them, dear." Luna chimed in "You recall just how nervous you were when you started courting Maria and myself." Altair looked over at Shamara and slowed his pace to stay beside her while they continued walking. The guards seemed more like statues, and the walls were decorated with large paintings. Some were of snow covered meadows, others seemed more recent, depicting a rather intense scene where Onorussian soldiers were burning down a large structure of some kind... It almost looked like a temple of sorts. More evidence that the Onorussian Military Republic was not one to be trifled with. Eventually they had left the entry hall and came to an intersection of hallways.

"Why don't you show her around, Altair? We'll send for you when it's time for dinner." Maria said, Altair nodded and watched as his parents started walking down one of the corridors. The young man turned his attention back to Shamara and smiled a little awkwardly.

"So, is there anything you want to see? Any questions you have? I'll give you the grand tour."

"It was no trouble at all!" She smiled so thrilled they were happy "It was fun to think and hunt down what was needed. I hope you enjoy them. As a matter of fact...I wouldn't mind sharing with Altair. But please, lead the way I'm just interested in anything you have to show me."

Altair smiled faintly as he heard that Shamara wanted to share a room, he had thought about asking her, but he was still very shy about that sort of thing. Onorussians rarely spoke of their feelings openly, unless they're married... Altair quickly cleared that thought from his head, even though he happened to like it. Just as his father was about to speak to them about what areas to check out first, Altair noticed a soldier sprinting down the hallway with a piece of paper clutched in his hand. His father turned to the soldier as he arrived.

"Sir. Urgent news." The soldier said in a nearly out of breath tone. "Oboldgrad has been gassed."

"Gassed?" Dominic asked as the soldier handed him the paper for him to look at, he quietly read over it before crumpling it up tightly and turning towards Altair and Shamara. "I'm sorry to say... But our country has been attacked. I have work to take care of, please show Shamara around while your mothers and I deal with this."

"Father." Altair said stepping forward.

"Believe me... If I have need of your skills, I shall send for you." With that Dominic turned, his wives following him, and began walking down the hallway. Altair stood there for a couple seconds, then looked at Shamara.

"I'm sorry this had to happen right as you got here." He said, clearly doing his best to contain his emotions. "Please... Let's go to the garden... It's peaceful there." Altair began walking in the opposite direction of his father. Shamara would've been able to notice him clenching and unclenching his fists... And upon closer inspection of Dominic, she would find that he had the same mannerism. Like father, like son...

((Sorry this happened, I run multiple RPs at once, so sometimes there's a little overlap. Makes for some good realism though.))

Altair sighed before he pinched the bridge of his nose, the young man looked at Shamara as he took a couple deep breaths that calmed his nerves.

"I'm sorry if I seemed like I wanted to leave earlier..." He said as he lowered his hand and looked at the floor. "It's a force of habit to volunteer for duty without thinking, a habit I'll try to break in the future." The man stopped outside a door and opened it, holding it for Shamara, allowing some warm humid air to rush out. "This is the Palace Gardens, it's the closest we have to your nation's climate, I thought maybe you would like to see it?"

"W-well yes I'd like to see it" Shamara felt her head was spinning with the sudden changes going on, she'd understand if he had to go duty calls, his nation above all else "But are you sure it's safe to be here now if attacks are going on?"

"Yes... I'm quite sure it's safe. If anyone is here trying to harm you, they will have to get through me. " Altair walked in and closed the door once they were both inside. The gardens were lush and green, far different from the snow and wind outside. There were flowers and trees, even a small pond with numerous exotic fish swimming within its crystal clear water. The air was far warmer than it had been in the hallways, prompting Altair to remove his jacket and leave it near the door. "I hope it's to your liking...? It's something my Mothers have been working on for a long time."
