Greetings comrades,

Millions of years ago, when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, the air was perfect. Fast forward to the Industrial Revolution, and people started burning fossil fuels on a large scale. The impact on our air was unprecedented – enormous quantities of carbon dioxide and other gasses were being piped directly into our atmosphere without a care. Fast forward to today, and motorised vehicles are everywhere. They add to the problem, contributing a large part of the pollution. Increasing levels of carbon dioxide are making the planet warmer, causing ice to melt and water levels to rise. In addition, the changing climate disrupts the delicate balance of ecosystems, as seen with our dying coral reefs.

Therefore, it concerns and disgusts me to see the brazen disregard for the environment that national governments – many of them capitalist – quite often have. A lot of times, they are perfectly willing to destroy nature just to make themselves more rich, and the wealth is not even shared with the people. Although the Nordic Socialist Resistance is far from being a proper government, my comrades and I agree with everything the IEO stands for, and we would like to ally with your cause as an observing party. Together, we can work to stop the environmentally destructive practices brought about by unregulated capitalism, and urge governments to put the planet first.

The Government allocated $93 million this year to jointly launch the five-year Eco-friendly Partnership Programme (ECOPP) with Bledllyn Science Institute (BSI). Under the program, the National High Technologies Development Agency, Ministry of Trade/ Technologies & Mining provides professional services in conjunction with over 100 environmental technology service providers in the Hundredstar to help factories there adopt cleaner production technologies.

The program also facilitates the exchange of information on environmental technology and the promotion of environmental technology and services, creating business opportunities for our service providers. Responses from the trades have been positive. Since the launch of the program in January this year, the program has approved over 390 projects up to end-May this year.

Creation Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council

The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BIOREC), Ministry of Education/ Youth & Science is a national funding agency investing in bioscience research and training in the Hundredstar. The Council aims to further scientific knowledge, promote economic growth and improve the quality of life in the Hundredstar and beyond.

Dr. Jean Flagpools will be first Chairperson of BIOREC.

The National Environment Agency has undertaken key programs across its branches to promote environmental protection and conservation. Some of the major programs include;

i) Awareness creation and public sensitization on the value of the environment as a resource and its conservation.

ii) Participation in Conference of Parties to various sector's representing the interests of Hundredstar in specific aspects of the agreement.

iii) The National Environment Agency has formulated and published a National Climate Change Response Strategy (CCRS) to guide all sectors in mitigating, adapting and coping with effects of climate change. In this regard, the National Environment Agency is spearheading the implementation of the Strategy to ensure the proposed interventions are adopted by the relevant sectors. The implementation of the Strategy will enhance resilience to adverse effects of climate change and ensure programs and projects become “climate proof”. Further, an implementation plan for various sectors has been developed to action the strategy.

iv) The National Environment Agency is undertaking the review of current policies in-line with the Constitution of Hundredstar and also enable the capturing of emerging environmental issues such as climate change and related environmental disasters, invasive species, strengthening the institutional framework for sound environmental management and promoting green economy initiatives by various players.

v) The School Green Initiative is a major program coordinated by the National Environment Agency in collaboration with National Education Authority. The program is encouraging tree planting in schools since the learning institutions own land and the student population guarantees high survival rates of the trees.

vi) Creation of Nationwide Forest Stewardship Commission (NFSC): is a local, non-profit NGO that was founded in 2015 in response to growing international concerns regarding deforestation as well as increasing consumer demand for a credible wood-labelling scheme.

vii) Corporate Environment Initiative such as Kingdom Strata Automotive Rodneywell Plant (KSARP), which manufactures models such as the Aresa Strata and the Pony Strata, is utilizing electricity produced by landfill gas generated at a local landfill. This project is a collaboration between KSARP and Unicorn - Firman Waste Gas LLC, a company that provides waste transporting and disposal services in Rodneywell, Shaftegill marking the first such business-to-business model in the region for converting landfill gas into usable energy.
