The 9th UCR Student Exchange ~ Bucahrest, Ruthenia
The University of Bucahrest

Image

The University of Bucharest is a comprehensive university, oriented towards natural sciences, social sciences and humanities. The number of faculties is almost equal on each of these domains. There are naturally differences between faculties. Faculties of sciences (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Geology and Geophysics) generally have fewer students but produce a large number of ISI publications and manage research contracts that bring them an important amount of financial resources. Social sciences faculties (Business and Administration, Law, History, Sociology, Psychology and Education Sciences, Political Sciences) have considerable students’ effectives and contribute to public agenda setting and decision-making. Humanities (Philosophy, Journalism, Letters, Foreign Languages, Orthodox, Roman-Catholic, and Baptist Theology) sought by many students, help to the social and the cultural development of the country. The objective of the University management has been to strengthen the unity of institution, despite divergent interests of scientific domains, to recognize the contribution of each faculty to the University’s success, to encourage the contribution of the students, and of the individual researchers to the improvement of the academic life.

Welcome to Bucahrest!
Welcome back to the Student Exchange Program! This year, it is hosted by Ruthenia in Bucharest. It is advised that all students ensure they abide by laws in this country and risk the event of being sent home early for not reamining on good behavior, if caught by the campus or local authorities. For more information on the Student Exchange Program, or if you have not registered please visit this web page.

We hope you enjoy your time here in Bucharest! Please be on a lookout for room assignments. If you prefer not to have a room but an apartment like some college students across the globe, you are to notify officials of your decision to live off campus.

With months to prepare, Ruthenian officials stood at the exit of the international arrivals terminal expecting a vast amount of students. Signs posted all over the terminal pointed students to a conference room where school and national authorities could verify their credentials and identity. Afterward, they would be escorted to the campus.

Maliks arrival

Postby New republic of reee » Mon May 22, 2017 11:32 am

https://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/me ... 0214154612 (referrence on how he looks like)
After Arriving at the airport on a Reean government jet Malik walked out of the gate along with his buyler Marcel. He was dressed with a long sleeve navy blue cotton shirt with jeans and a pair of black boots. Next to him his butler wearing a all black suit.
Malik: We are finnaly here. What do you think of this country Marcel?
Marcel: A bit cold sir, but nothing can't so far.
Malik lets out a sigh and walks down the airport terminal seeing a language he has never seen before.
Malik: umm, what language they spoke here again?
Marcel: i believe it was Rutenian sir.
Malik: ah, right Rutenia Rutenian, gotcha.
Having bummped into a few other people along the crowded hallways Malik and Marcel arrive at the luggage pick up.
Malik: I think dad went a little too overboard
Malik said seing a sizesable stack of luggage being placed in a cart.
Marcel: His magesty just wishes you to have everything you need my prince.
Malik: don't act so formal Marcel, over here we are just regular people okay?
Marcel:...as you wish...
The butler said reluctantly, Malik looked over seing some people from the crown who did not looked like they belonged here. Some with their country's flag pin already placed, that made Malik remember he had to put his own pin which he did.

Gavrilo Dajic stepped of South African Airways Flight 87 and into the terminal. He was conflicted about the student exchange. He disliked the Ruthian Government and for everything they did, but he also knew that there universities were very good. Plus he wanted to improve on his social skills which weren't the best but a least it wasn't like it used to be. He was going to try to keep his opinions on Ruthinia as private as possible. He was still worried that's the Ruthians might be less than nice to him because of his ethnicity. He wore a red polo shirt and some jeans. He thought about wearing a lapel pin of his home country's flag, like some of the other students, but that could not go well for him. He was a proud patriot, but not that proud. He thought he had packed all the clothes he needed. However, he had forgotten how cold it was in the area. His body had gotten used to the hot and humid climate in Africa. Even though he had goosebumps, he was happy to feel the cold air and wind again. The terminal was crowded with foreigners all from different countries. He saw some people he recognized. Some were allies of his nation, which he could possibly make friends with. It was both exciting and overwhelming at the same time. But first he had to find one of the officials and maybe talk with the other students a little.

Yi Lin (http://orig03.deviantart.net/bb02/f/201 ... a67ir4.jpg) and Emmalyn Winslow (http://orig12.deviantart.net/47d2/f/201 ... 88n70b.jpg) disembarked from their German Airlines connecting flight to Bucharest. The two of them had opted for sundresses and sandals, looking as if they had come from some tropical paradise vacation. The Bucharest International Airport looked alright, though not nearly as nice as the one in Hong Kong Yi Lin would remark to Emmalyn. The two had decided to take advantage of a program offered through the University of Hong Kong to explore the world outside of China. Notifications went off on their phones. Emmalyn chose to ignore them as she Yi Lin was 100% focused on her small device. Winslow rolled her eyes, it was typical of her friend to become engrossed in her electronic, an addiction she couldn't understand because she was raised differently from her.

Emmalyn dragged her friend from the gate while trying to wrangle with her own carryon. The signs posted all over the terminal would lead them to a conference room where it appeared they were the first ones to arrive. Moving forward to the desk, she placed their passports and IDs in front of the Customs official. As the official looked over their credentials, Emmalyn surfed the Yi's shoulder for a moment, observing Yi's obsession with a messaging app. She texted several people, many of whom she barely knew as Emmalyn came to find out, before Winslow would interrupt her.

"Your obsession is keeping you from real life you know,"" Winslow declared in her British accent. She confiscated the phone right from Lin's hands and shoved it into her pants. She stared at her for a moment. "You can't just do that!" Yi Lin whined, "A girl needs her phone, we couldn't possibly live with out one! Please give it give it." Emmalyn kept close guard of Lin's phone as she shook her head at her. Eventually the officials cleared them and they took a seat as their checked baggage was brought to them.

Carrying a thick hand-crafted leather suitcase in one arm, and his other hand's thumb stuck into the edging of his rather simple denim jeans, Avani stepped down off of the B-21. He'd had the beauty recommissioned, and put back into flight nearly a year ago, and the thing flew better than it ever had. He turned, waving to his pilots. He'd hand picked them from the air force to fly him. They were brothers by blood, after all, and brothers stuck together. Waving them goodbye, he sighed, feeling the earth under his feet felt nice after the rather long flight, with all that mountain turbulence. He was taking a temporary leave from the military in order to pursue some more education and left his 2iC in command. The cold wasn't that much different from Retiva, where he'd been assigned so many times that he'd lost count, so it didn't bother him all too much.

Turning to watch the B-21 take off back to Cuba, he turned back and walked over to the terminal, fishing out his ID and student passport with one hand and flicking it at the attendant, who waved him through after checking his bag through the x-ray machine. He passed over a bunch of papers as well, documenting his P320 RX Compact which he had an international license to open carry. After being waved through, he looked around for a moment, spotting a sign for exchange students. He walked over, calmly observing the area while setting down his luggage and sitting down. All he had to do now was wait for the other students to arrive.

A large man steps down from a plane and walks into the large room as directed by the officials. "Uhh I do own a Desert eagle, so don't be alarmed." He worriedly remarked. This was a good day for Johnson, he's always wanted to visit this city, but was too swamped with his studies in New Spleenpool university, but Lymonian Relations Staffer Greg de Corleon mentioned that something like this would look good for everyone.

After passing through the checks to make sure Johnson was the guy he claimed to be, he moved on and looked for the other students. He wasn't confident enough to go out and start any conversations, but he did help someone who's papers fell all over the place. Johnson knew that this was the start of something new for him. He grabbed his luggage with his clothes, medication, and car keys, and hung out in the room watching Blood Wolf News with Crocker Carlson on his Ephone, until they were to officially announce boarding.

Matthew Arelund walks out of the airplane, to find a very different world unfolding in front of him. Where were the hipsters smoking weed in the streets? And the Owlball tournaments? It was also... cold. He never thought that he would have to bring a coat (partly because he didn't have one), and where was the pizza?

Léonide Sauvage stepped off the private jet, amrked clearly as property of the French monarchy, and took a moment to look at what she could see of the nearby city. "Le petit Paris, j'espère qu'il répond au nom," she remarked, hurrying down the to the gate with a member of the royal guards following her: he would accompany her until her papers were through and no further. It was an odd sight as they strode in, a tiny girl in her tight jeans and hoodie and a faceless figure in full black body armour, who was well over 6 foot and well built.

Sauvage took out her ID and passport hurriedly and was moved through quickly, tentatively waving to the guard as she walked away, though with no response. She put her ID away in the handbag and left briskly, suitcase wheeled behind her and he oversized hoodie shaking as she followed the signs. Soon arriving, Léonide moved over into a corner to sit and wait, either for someone to approach or further instructions.

'It could be worse,' she thought, 'at least the Empress approved my trip personally and I have some books, maybe I could even learn something new.' She smiled at the thought, new knowledge was becoming increasingly rare as she specialised further and further, not without opening up a new area of study.

Yi Lin fidgeted in her seat without her phone. She slowly wrapped her arm around Winslow's shoulder and rested against her. "Friend." she whispered, "I just want to post one picture on my Pixsergram. Please just.. one..." Winslow felt bothered as she read an interesting article from a magazine published many years ago. The pages rustled as her eyes started from the top left once more, scanning the words on the white. Lin continued to slip under her skin by purposely hugging her with too much strength. Eventually, Winslow dropped the magazine and forced her off. Taking out Lin's confiscaed cellphone from her bag, she opened the camera and held it up high. "One selfie." Yi nodded in approval and held the cellular device with Winslow and positioned it until satisfied, snapping a photo of the two of them with the universal sign of peace on their hands.

Winslow shoved the phone back in her bag and placed it under her seat. "I am going to continue reading now, go find something to do and socialize before you spontaneously combust from boredom. Maybe bother one the ones that just arrived in the room." Winslow motioned at the Frenchie in the corner. Yi Lin stood and walked over to Sauvage holding out her hand.

"Hello there. I'm Yi Lin. WHat's your name? I just want to say Your hair looks very interesting to me." Lin would sit next to Sauvage placing a hand on Sauvage's shoulder.

After some Airport staff helped offload the luggage Malik and Marcel finally made it to the Student exchange meeting point. Malik felt very uneasy since he wasn't a fan of meeting new people. But he is certain that he will need to interact with them eventually. All of the sudden his phone received a text, it was his father the great King Augustin Repe has always time for his children.
King: Did you arrived yet? I bet it is cold...
Malik: Yes, i agree it is very cold, but not as cold as Retvia.
A few minutes passed and another text came through
King: Hahaha, i agree but i am not going to bother to much on your trip, have fun Malik and remember to send pictures, your mother or your mother and sisters will be whining about it for days.
Malik: Alright dad thanks i'll see you soon then...
with that said Malik took a quick selfie, he hated smiling for the pictures, he hardly did a smug look as he too the selfie. As soon as the Message was sent, he noticed one of the students wearing the Serbian pin.
"...might as well start somewhere i guess...." Malik muttered to himself, Malik walked over as the student looked onward outside at the distance.
"it sure is cold out there isn't it?"

Asiri stepped off his flight directly from Colombo. This land was extremely cold to him, politically and environmentally. Although past grievances did make him wary of where he treaded, he was here for education. His country had recently started delving deep into education and the sciences, and his father had decided it would be best for young Asiri to go abroad for academics. When he had got off the plane, a reminder dinged in his ear to let him know that he needed to head to a conference room so officials good verify everything and make sure it checked out. On his way to the room, he casually admired the airports scenery. It had been very well constructed to what Asiri could imagine.

Once inside the room, he met with officials and showed everything he needed. When he finished meeting with the officials, he gathered everything handed to him inside his binder, which was place carefully in his black suitcase, crafted of fine rubber and finished with a special engraving from his father onto the top where the latch met handle. It read in ancient Tamil as the following. "A man cannot seek fortune without first knowing his own." He soon found himself standing against a wall, admiring the view for a little break. His tanned leather jacket and slicked back hair made him look a little American culture wise, with boots and denim jeans to complement. The shirt he wore underneath was a plain white T with little to no holes, surprisingly as Asiri had owned the shirt for 2 years now.

Xander was excited for this student exchange because he can make new friends and learn about a new culture while learning at a univercity. After getting his bags Xander walked over to the people with the student exchange signs. He fall owed them to a room where they checked his ID. After this he got in a bus headed to the univercity.

The man, Avani, spoke with a thick Spanish accent. Avani was also more casually dressed than Dajic. "Uh, thanks, uh Avani. My name is Gavrilo Dajic of the Republic of Greater Serbia and South Africa. And yes let's get something to eat. Also, thank you but you can have your jacket back too, I'll get used to it again" he laughed. As they made their way done to the cafeteria, Dajic noticed that Avani was open carrying what he presumed was one of the pilots produced by SIG. "Is that pistol made by SIG? I forgot the model though. No, it's not the P226 ... P320?"

Malik might have spoken too quietly and heard Avani and Gavrilo's conversation. He looked as they walked away to the food court.
"Okay then... next time ill just talk louder then" Malik said to himself. "i guess i can try and talk to the girls then, at least i get to meet new people" malik was beggining to get anxious as he thought about walking to the girls and 'break the ice' "come on Malik, you can do this..."
Marcel: excuse my prince but i noticed you are quite anxious, are you alright?
Marcel said with his british accent
Malik: U-uhm, i guess im still getting used to it
Marcel: Sir, you know that you need too conquer that fear, right now you are a representative of our country, how will that look for all Reeans back home?
Malik: ...you are right... okay...
Malik took a deep breath and started walking rigidly towards to girls.

Yi nodded in approval and held the cellular device with Winslow and positioned it until satisfied, snapping a photo of the two of them with the universal sign of peace on their hands.

The Francian looked up quickly, at first looking slightly shocked before her expression calmed, "Bonj- Sorry, hello. I am Léonide Sauvage from France, thanks, I think." She laughed nervously a little, before self-consciously touching her hair lightly, to check that it was still alright, before pulling a bit forward for her to see that the dye hadn't magically disappeared.

She looked up at the Chinese girl properly, with a much more friendly expression, and stood to her full height to stretch, "And you are on exchange as well I presume? With your friend, the English one?"

Carrying his luggage with him one-handed so that it didn't get stolen, he calmly walked over to the guy, waving to him as he did. "Hola, you are in the Student Exchange, no? He starts off with, his surprisingly deep voice and Spanish accent making it difficult for anyone who didn't know who he was to place where he was from. "Waiting area is over here, compadre." He says, pointing over to where he was previously sitting. "Care to come grab some food with me while we wait? Might be a while until the rest of the students get here." He offers, before noticing Gavrilo's shivering, and laughs. "Here," He says, handing him his jacket. "Make sure ya give it back, aye? I'm gonna go grab something to eat, feel free to come along with me if you want." He states, before stopping. "The name's Avani, maybe I'll learn yours in some time." He says, before walking over to the cafeteria, leaving the Serb with a leather jacket in his hands, and no doubt a confused look on his face.

As they made their way done to the cafeteria, Dajic noticed that Avani was open carrying what he presumed was one of the pistols produced by SIG. "Is that pistol made by SIG? I forgot the model though. No, it's not the P226 ... P320?"

Avani slipped the jacket back on as Gavrilo handed it to him, walking along with him to the airport cafeteria. He had no worry about missing the transportation to the school, since he was told that they were going to be rounded up before leaving. As they walked, Avani studied Gavrilo: how he walked, how he talked, his gestures and other such actions so as to distinguish him in his mind. It's a longtime habit of his. As Gavrilo mentioned the pistol, all he did was nod, "P320, yes. Ain't about to take it out to show you, compadre, might draw a bit of attention." He says, laughing, while turning into the cafeteria. "What do you want to eat, then?"

"Do they serve alcohol here?" he laughed. Dajic looked at the menu in the cafeteria. It mostly consisted of cheap, fattening "American" food and cheap light beer. Not like there was anything wrong with that as Dajic was quite hungry and thirsty. "I think I'll have a hotdog, fries, and some cat piss, also known as Miller Light." he laughed. "By the way, what country did you say you were from again?"

Officer Slavros of Bucharest Paramilitary Forces]
In order to ensure everyone who would be attending the Universities safety, the Ruthenian Czar had ordered that the Paramilitary Forces would be used as a safety procedure, for both a escort and handling difficulties a student may run into. After a hour or teo and ensuring everyone had arrived, Captain Slavros would order his men to round up the students to take or show them where to go. There'd be a conference room where everyone would meet to speak about the last and procedures while in Bucharest. Once everyone would arrive Captain Slavros would begin his speech the distinct language of Ruthenian may seem familiar to some as it had traces of Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Lithuanian and Romanian in it's base, if students couldn't understand a translator was waiting to translate for him;

Welcome everyone to Bucharest! I know why you may be wondering why we have Paramilitary, don't be afraid it's only for the initial escort to the college and tour of the city to get you situated to the area. Now first thing's first, we won't have translators on campus who can always be with you for this reason we hope you have at least a basic understanding of the language, as is, learning in the nation when you arrive is the best way to grasp it. This will make everyone's job easier and we'll consider it a Credit for a language course on campus if you cannot speak Ruthenian. Secondly, for those who enjoy Electroncis and internet, Romania and Bucharest by extension has a very advanced and extensive tech industry as well as Wi-Fi across the city and state. You can download a full length hi-def movie in about 2 seconds or less depending on the server used. Bucharest outside of the University has many things to offer for campus students, there's clubs almost everyday and local concerts, with big names who performed almost every night in the entertainment district. Most music that you'll find here among students is EDM or Rap, both of which are the most popular at the moment. While Ruthenia does have a large Metal market, most bands would be considered hate groups by certain nations.

At the University itself, our electornics and tech sector is more condensed than other Universities, but the nation's best Hackers and Cyber Warfare specialists start at University of Bucharest who gives an extensive groundwork for them as they transition to other Universities, the University itself has tried to expand classes available but it requires students want for it, if you're interested in new classes send recommendations to the Dean for thoughts of what could be expanded or added.

As for laws, we'll be handing you pamphlets and a larger handbook that holds the entirety of Ruthenian and the state of Romania and Bucharest cities laws, we recommend you read up or memorize some of it. The basics are the same as any other nations, assault, murder, theft, speeding etc. Are illegal in this antion, a secondary law I recommend you be aware of is that when speaking about the Government be aware of who you're speaking to. Some people twist words or lie and it's caused problems with people in the past, a law is being put forward to amend this, but it's unknown how it'll go so be aware of this.

As a word of warning for safety, Bucharest does have bad areas like any other city. Within the slums, we recommend if you go Urban exploring you be very careful. Bucharest has a very extensive and heavy Mafia and Criminal Underground in the slums areas. If you come across anyone offering you a job in the nice areas, again be careful. Sometimes the Mafia will try to recruit newcomers to the nation because they can just be sent back home after an arrest and extend their syndicate outside of Ruthenia. We've had several students abducted by gangs in the past for going where they shouldn't and get in arguments, due to Ruthenia's laws concerning Home Defense, a majority of these criminals have civilian grade Assault Rifles or black market military weapons such as fully automatic Draco's. For this reason be sure you know who you're getting involved with or where you're going.

Now, since the basics are other of the way please follow me!

After the talk ended, the students would be taken to luxury cars or a politician grade Limo. The vehicles would pull out and begin to give them a tour of the city. Briefly going through the slums to leave the airport, where heavy bass of Rap or EDM was present with many Gopniks squatting, or people walking around, some standing on corners. The driver would speak We get about 30 shootings a month in this area itself, but because of the recent police presence it's been quiet lately. Throughout the city the students would have full high speed access to the internet if they had Dimtrest or Dapchat or Rumblr to share pictures. Once they got into the business sector fo the city they'd see very large and expansive skyscrapers, food places, apartments and other areas with a Neo-futurist look with traditional Slavic influences. Many high end luxury cars drove through the area with suits. This so the business sector, if you go through business classes these places give internships for a shirt time if you want to gain skills.

Upon turning right, they'd enter the entertainment district, filled with clubs, arcades, game bangs, strip clubs, bars, theaters and casinos it was the flashiest and most controlled by private enterprises including Malls and Stores. As they passed a restraunt they'd see a group of large black vans and cars with men in suits walking out. On the radio and intercom Captain Slavros would speak, The Mob is making it easy for us today, but if you see any groups or vehicles like that the Ruthenian Mafia is meeting to discuss business or is meeting other Bosses. It seems important, stay away from places owned by them such as this one.

Upon leaving the area they enter the suburbs and high end area of the city, where they'd see all the mansions and wealthy areas including houses and apartments. It was evident only people in the top 10% or upper middle class lived here. Not too much was said, but on a trek turnaround, they'd head into the school sectors, in-between the Government and entertainment sector so the cities, where they'd see the University of Bucharest. Upon arrival in a parking lot, the students would get out and some men would arrive taking their luggage for them to their predetermined rooms.

A man with several packets would arrive, he'd greet them. Welcome to Bucharest student of the world, we hope you enjoyed your tour and further will enjoy your stay in Bucharest and the University. I'll be handing out these pamphlets, please pass it from left to right, they're in alphabetical order. The pamphlets inside a folder, would have all the students names on the front, within was heir student ID, class schedules they can sign up for and their predetermined rooms. We are co-ed so don't be surprised if you have female or male roommates or neighbors. The National Anthem will be done every morning at 7 AM followed by 2 hours of civil defense courses, at which point classes will start. Please don't be late for either, they're used for national patriotism and while not required for exchange students, you'll get an extra 10 points for the end of your grade if you go to both and actively participate. Now, if you have questions the counsellors and Dean's office are found on the top floor, a map is located in every floor of the University or on the campus lawns to help you did your way. We've seen an extensive expansion of the University itself since 2017 due to the growth and expansion of courses. We hope you enjoy your stay at the University, classes can be done on the University homepage or you can go to the SSS (Student Support Services) on the other side of campus where the Ruthenian flag is flying to have a Advisor help you add or remove classes. Enjoy Bucharest and the University inside Ruthenia!

Having hear the instructions it reminded him a lot about his country, his countrymen were always full of pride of being a Reean and being part of its military feels like being someone important.
Marcel:"paramilitary... looks like Ruthenia and Reee are alike"
Marcel said after the speech was over.
Malik:"Yeah the only difference is that is a lot more colder"
Marcel: "Please remember the instructions sir, we do not want to have an international crisis over a mugging incident"
Malik:"Hey, that is why i have you here, im sure you can crack some heads or two"
Marcel aside from being Maliks butler, he was also his own bodyguard. Malik handed him over a bottle of water and drank it.
Malik: "alright... who is the unfortunate soul that has to share a room with me?" Malik said out loud immediately regretting it. this will surely attract some attention to him which he does not want.

As Matthew watched the TV news, he noticed what was happening back in Eshialand. "What? Eshialand... was... fun... and... happy. Now it's... chaos. Well, I hope I qualify for refugee status...
Anything I say is IC unless proven otherwise by a court of law.

Malik stood for a second startled as he looked at Xander.
"uh, yeah i...guess" Malik stayed quiet for a second "oh where are my manors, I am Malik Repe at your service." Malik said bowing as it was traditional at his country.
