The beam seems is simply deflected by the Planet's atmosphere and a blinding light temporarily surrounds the planet.

A hoard of hooks appear and move the ship moderately gently to the earth. Due to the way the hooks shot out, most of the guns of the ship were also destroyed.

"Once all of those that are here are ready to go, In the meantime you and your soldier's can enjoy the amenities Bruma and Cloud Ruler Temple have to offer. I am pretty sure there are some leftovers from the meal earlier."
