What is Vadopol?
Vadopol is the largest city in the Pavonistadian Provinces, and it was historically referred to as Palemo. It has a population of approximately 8.3 million and the metropolitan area to which it belongs contains more people than any other regions. Proclaiming itself as the "city of the contemporary," Vadopol has many qualities that makes it the country's cultural and economic capital. The city has many different communities, people from various origins and a vibrant, lively culture. With a cherishable wet climate, optimistic populace and glimmering experiences for all, Vadopol will be such a splendid city that a voyage there will not ever be forgotten!

Rules and Notes
Prepare to resist temptation to say "tl;dr". I know you want to say it, but do bear with me and we'll get to the fun part.

1. The OP is Pavonistade. Pavonistade has authority over the RP. I am Pavonistade, therefore I am OP.
2. I reserve the right to penalize people for anything, even if they are not covered in the rules. Any frivolous strikes will be accommodated by a note indicating that they are a joke and have no legal-binding effects
3. I reserve the right not to reply to your posts if there are issues such as you being banned or DEAT'd.
4. I reserve the right to update rules, notes, and any parts of the OOC/IC threads without always having to notify others. People would need to check by themselves.
   
   1. But as a very wise person named Pavonistade said, "[...] while I'm not obliged to give notice of any edits, I would just alert participants of changes anyways." There is the Update Log if any announced changes are made.
5. Any powers or anything not yet specified should be left for me for judgement.

1. Esquarium only.
2. Follow NS rules, in particular the One Stop Rules Shop.
3. Put at least some effort in your application and RP posts. Bad grammar isn't preferred, and so are one-liners in most cases. The exception to the one-liner rule is if there isn't much to RP out in a scenario.
4. Godmodding, wanking, metagaming, and any unfair roleplaying will not be tolerated.
5. However, I as OP may describe the environment around your character(s) to continue the plot revolving around them.
6. There will be a strike system, with a strike handed out for poor behavior or rule violations.
   1. Three strikes and you're deported from Pavonistade, OOCly!
   2. Any serious behaviors may result in kicks without first reaching three strikes.
   3. Another issue that results in kicks without three strikes is when a nation becomes inactive in the RP. If the nation does not post in the IC for a long-enough period, it will be deported from Pavonistade (although it can re-assure interest and return).
   4. If you feel you received an unjust strike or kick, feel free to TG me and we'll work something out (in the best-case scenario).
7. Generally, avoid mentioning RL entities such as Vladimir Putin or France. Entities in real life that also exist in Esquarium (e.g. Twitter and Youtube) can be mentioned, and so can certain RL entities that can be adjusted to fit with Esquarian canon (e.g. game series such as Mass Effect).
8. Obviously abide by NS rules. (I repeated this for a reason)
9. Don't exploit any loopholes you find in the rules, notes, etc.

[Pavonistade]

Application

1. Each nation can have a maximum of four (4) characters, all of whom are to be visiting Vadopol for a period of time.
2. The character(s) are touring the city. Your character(s) would not be expected to venture outside the city, immigrate to Pavonistade, launch a political campaign or take part in a secret operation.
3. A relative(s) counts as characters. Immediate family members and close friends of the main character (the person on which the application is based) are some examples of relatives for the purpose of this RP.
4. Characters must be human.
5. Your character is free to interact with characters that other players created, if they happen to encounter one another.
6. No puppet nations may participate.

Please read the rules for characters before filling an application. The RP will start off at 08:00 AM in Pavonistadian Standard Time (PST), based on the time zone map for Esquarium as of August 12, 2016. When the RP starts, you are not obliged to RP the arrival of your character(s) in Vadopol. You may start right in a hotel, either Hotel de Kapiteile (Koflelle) or Oldstreet Inn (South-End). You could also start in any reasonable location, such as in an airport right after your character[s] arrived. In spite of all these rules, I order you to have fun!

Application Walkthrough
Character Name:

This should be the name that your character would go by throughout the RP. You are free to include their legal or full name.

Biography: Kal Simpsen was born in 1963 in Bethlehem, Luziyca to a family of decent wealth. He immigrated to Pavonistade, then a dominion of Luziyca, in 1970 and later naturalized. He eventually enrolled in and graduated from the University of Gordhoss with a master's degree in political science. After he joined the Republican Party, he served as Member of Parliament (1993-2004) before he served as Governor of Toloupum Sector (2004-2012). He rand in and won the 2017 presidential elections (with a plurality of seats), becoming the first foreign-born person to do so.
Traits: Right-wing, capitalist, extrovert, racist, politically-incorrect, has a very punchable face, has IQ of 140
Notes: Simpsen has two relatives, meaning I would be roleplaying three characters, and I can have only one more character to roleplay if I choose to RP more. Simpsen is also technically not a tourist, or a character on which an application for this thread would be based.

Map Guide

Below is a list of locations that carry some significance. The map and list will not display any locations considered to be generic, such as police stations, bus stops, libraries, and local markets.

• Central Park (Forhelm)
  An urban park containing various tropical and subtropical flora, as well as some greenhouses and different sculptures symbolizing nature.
• City Council (Mandar Bay)
  The legislature of the Vadopolitan municipal government. In proximity of the city council is the Old Mayor's Municipal Council, which was the original city council in historic Vadopol.
• Cry for Ascension Monument (Alivack)
  A monument from the early 19th century. It depicts the unity among the Jopj indigenous people and the Pavons, even as the former's empire ceased to exist and indigenous descendants were discriminated against for decades.
• Darrette Hill (Darrette)
  The highest place in Vadopol, lying at 50 meters above sea level. It is forested by subtropical trees, and gives a decent view of surrounding places and the Vadopolitan skyline.
• Delta Landfill (Delta)
  An active landfill for Vadopol. Unless picking out garbage is somehow a pastime, the dull and repellent region does not attract much appreciation. Once the landfill is covered, there is potential for reclamation to begin and conversion of the region to a park.
• First Vadopolitan Frederick's Fries (Yienlis)
  The first Frederick's Fries outlet in Vadopol. Frederick's Fries is a fast-food chain headquartered in Oktosis and currently has over twenty thousand outlets in at least eight nations. OOC: There are more Frederick's Fries outlets across Vadopol, but all other such outlets are considered to be generic.
• Gay Village (Valence Quarter)
  Valence Quarter is a neighbourhood of Vadopol, but it itself is also the city's gay village. It has a higher lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender population than any other cities or gay villages in Pavonistade. Numerous other sexual minorities exist in the Vadopol Gay Village.
• Hotel de Kapiteile (Koflelle)
  A modern, luxurious hotel considered to be the "ultimate hotel of Pavonistade". It would have served as the abode for world leaders if Vadopol hosted the Second Esquarian Summit. OOC: This is one of the possible starting points for characters.
• Kaptyn War Cemetery (Kaptyn)
  A cemetery devoted to honouring the war dead since the Pavonistadian Revolution. A Tomb of the Unknown Soldier lies in the center of the cemetery.
• Little Ocelotia (Vergkot)
  A small zoo and other veterinary facilities purposed to study and care for Pavonistadian ocelots, especially ocelots that may happen to be roaming around in the city.
• Namortown (Mandar Bay)
  This Namortown, or Little Namor, is the most densely-populated of any Namortowns in Pavonistade.
• Nautasiville (Zyta)
  A community with a high concentration of Pavonistadians and people of Nautasian descent. It has a higher concentration of black Pavonistadians and Muslims than any other location in Vadopol.
• New Colonies Post (Imogen)
  This is the first post set up by the Lombardians after they first stepped on Pavonistadian soil in 1588 CE. The colony in which the post was situated was called the New Colonies, before it was referred to as Palemo and then Vadopol.
• Oldstreet Inn (South-End)
  A hotel constructed in the early 20th century. Its sense of tradition and its symbol as a symbol of historic Vadopol gains attention from numerous tourists and visitors, both Pavonistadian and non-Pavonistadian. OOC: This is one of the possible starting points for characters.
• Pavonistadium (Tanatara)
  The home stadium of the Pavonistade national football team. it has a capacity of 70,000 seats.
• Revolution Plaque (Lusangka)
  A plaque originating from the Pavonistadian Revolution, a series of social and political changes contributing to the downfall of the Pavon monarchy. It is believed to have been created following the victory in the Battle of Palemo (historic Vadopol) by rebel general Adrian Vadopol, after whom the city is named.
• Sky Centers (Downtown)
  Four mixed-used skyscrapers. The Central Skyscraper is the tallest building in Pavonistade (standing at 400 m), and three shorter skyscrapers surround it.
• Smasgtani Park (Anastasia)
  A park along the Smasgtani River. Many plants, animals, fish, and insects flourish near the river, and the park offers to visitors an atmosphere that is very quiet and serene.
• Tangerine Mall (Downtown)
  The largest shopping mall in Vadopol. It is a vertical mall with countless features, from a large food court to a movie theatre.
• University of Vadopol (Flons)
  A public research university located in the outskirts of Vadopol. It attracts students from other Pavonistadian cities or from abroad, though it is often contrasted with the more-prestigious University of Gordhoss.
• Vadopol International Airport (Haghestii)
  The busiest airport in Pavonistade based on passenger traffic. It hosts a great variety of outlets, stores, and restaurants, as well as a large parking lot, light-rail link, and a hotel. OOC: This is one of the possible starting points for characters.
• Vadopol Museum (Liamo)
  A museum showcasing the history of Vadopol. It also serves as the municipal science center for people of various ages.
• War Museum (Mulhosat)
  A museum showcasing relics from wars in which Pavonistadian soldiers have fought.

His parents formed one of the original Koriz power couples, with Baroness Wellcrest using her aristocratic position to help raise the profile of her husband's business and Lord Wellcrest using his money to help finance his wife's political goals. His parents' wealth and social status ensured he was able to attend the finest educational institutions, but such rarefied setting did not prevent him from spending times with some of the trouble-making children of Korizland's bourgeois. On graduation, he took a position in the Bowlin Group helping to manage international investments for his father. As his mother began reaching her twilight years, she abdicated her position as Baroness and the title passed to Blythe. Though he inherited his mother's title, he did not inherit her political aspirations, instead focusing his efforts on the Bowlin Group, often using his seat to help enrich the Bowlin Group. Several years after his mother's abdication, his father retired. I decided to repeal this part so that there'll be a little bit more fun when characters visit Vadopol. Note though, that each character's purpose is to tour the city and enjoy their time, unless they want to be deported.

Biography: Born to a shaman and a soldier and raised in the Waposhan tribe during the Yun-Ti-Kel administration regime, Tanak lived at the height of the post-war boom that gripped Rak-Arshan following the Smoke Wars. Taking advantage of their newfound prosperity, his parents opted to secure Tanak an education. In response, he decided to take up...Pavon. He was one of the few who took an interest in the courses in foreign languages subsidized by said administration regime. He was quite a peculiarity in the normally conservative and arch traditionalist tribe. He demonstrated great interest in learning about foreign cultures and became one of the few reliable interpreters of Pavon (meaning he could understand it beyond a 1st-grade level), among other languages. For a while, his education seemed to prove worthless in the face of Rak-Arshan's isolationism (and this didn't change for a while after the 2016), but his fortunes changed with the recent announcement of the Warchief's diplomatic missions, and he was approached with an offer to act as a translator on behalf of the government. As it stands, he is currently technically part of a forward team sent abroad ahead of the envoys. However, he was recently granted permission to visit Vadopol while the forward team is on standby. And here we are now.
Traits: polyglot of average skill, religious shamanist, liberal (by Waposhan standards), curious
Notes: While I did write this character as being able to speak Pavon, understand that he also learned a foreign language in an isolationist nation with no exposure to native speakers. While by Rak-Arshani standards he is a good translator, by international standards he is barely passable. His dialogue will deliberately be written as broken to reflect this and it may have the occasional translation error.
