News of the Week (24/07/17-29/07/17)

Postby Volkmacht » Fri Jul 28, 2017 9:46 pm

And here is the news.

The federal government is in complete deadlock over a proposed euthanasia bill, which would allow patients with terminal illnesses to refuse treatment and would allow them access to drugs created for the purpose of ensuing a peaceful and painless end to their suffering.

The bill was proposed by the Left Representative Committee soon after the suicide of a cancer patient who refused to undergo chemotherapy for her illness out of a fear of a painful and meaningless life. "This death should not have happened. This woman should've had the right to deny medical treatment and have access to drugs that would've given her a painless death",

The Right Representative Committee laughed it off. "So this bill wants to prevent death by allowing people to refuse medical treatment. Where is the logic in this? Euthanasia is immoral and is a insult to the very sanctity of life",

The LRC presented a petition signed by terminal patients in Freiheit General Hospital's hospice ward, pleading with the government to allow euthanasia. The proposer of the bill, Lero Faye, said 'Most of these signatures were actually signed by the patients' families, since the patients themselves were too infirm to even left their arms'.

The bill goes before Parliament again next week.

In other news...

The exam that failed parents undergo in order to reclaim their children is causing depression and is equivalent to torture, according to psychiatrists.
The test was implemented along with the Parenthood Rehabilitation Act in a effort to crack down on parents who might lead their children down negative lifestyles, endanger them physically or psychologically and influence them with dangerous ideologies.

It includes questions such as 'Would you be willing to give your life for your child? Explain why in a essay', and 'Explain why you must put your child first above your personal ideologies'.

"This test is literal torture. Parents are locked in rooms and forced to stay for hours upon hours on end", said the leader of the National Psychological Institute. "If putting up with this for a long time is not evidence of a parent's love for their child, then I have no idea what is",

Specifically, it has been reported that people undergoing the exam are suffering from irritiability, poor appetite, mood swings and sadness, all of which are symptoms of depression.

There have been no reports of suicide attempts.

The Ministry of Social Services has filed a statement. "We take any reports of mental or physical illness very seriously and we are endeavoring, above all else, to give the people undergoing the exam a humane environment in which to take the exam"
