The World Wide Journal is an international electronic news agency dedicated to freedom of information and impartial delivery of news, regardless of origin or nationality, to the world's view. Founded in 1956 by Franklin J. Prescott, a Canadian socialite and renown news reporter, the WWJ was created with intention of supporting and hosting world news free of government bias and political ideologies. The World Wide Journal focuses on bringing the most accurate news possible to its readers regardless of the events reported or personal biases towards the subject by writer, staff or national influence.

In the 1970s the World Wide Journal gained international recognition for its covering of various world events, such as detailing diplomatic visits and national elections down to following claims of corruption against members of foreign governments. Most famously the news outlet covered a majority of the 1970 and 1980s political divides inside of Europe as well as criticizing numerous other international feuds. Beginning in 1977 the company began to expand past its previous headquarters of Toronto and became a prominent news authority for all of North America; and expanded its offices into most of Western Europe and by 1985 almost every nation on the continent has some form of office or related business. The World Wide Journal also expanded its global reach further to Aeuria in the late 1980s, opening new branches of the news agencies dedicated to handling local and national news with on-the-spot access and establishing a televised news station in certain countries. While the World Wide Journal publishes a number of local events and reports on most happenings of each nation, the main headquarters only hosts international or nationally important news.

In 1998 the World Wide Journal was corporately restructured following the start of the current CEO, Verney Levasseur, and the news agency faced issues combating other local influential news companies as well as struggling to remain true to their mission statement of truthful news free of national influence. In order to continue the famous reputation of the company, the World Wide Journal closed the majority of their printing locations around the world as well as downsizing several of their major business locations in a risky financial move that allowed the news agency to relocate most of their services to the growing internet. The move eventually paid off as the internet grew in popularity and the World Wide Journal remained a company free of most national influence and regulation, allowing the various business locations and reporters of the WWJ to print and keep up-to-date information available on their websites.

Any country with internet access can now enjoy the services presented by the company without issue; the World Wide Journal having developed into an applauded internationally present news agency supported by teams of multinational writers and reporters based around the world, with the rapid ability of bringing the issues of nations to the eyes of the world free of censorship and local bias.

In an unsurprising and heavily predicted outcome to the Communist Party establishment elections of Edelreich, Premier Manfred Kuhn remained as the incumbent General Secretary in an overwhelmingly positive vote that reconfirmed his position. The Premier was relatively unopposed during his short campaign; his high popularity among the people and government agencies making opposition rather unlikely, and in the close-circuited state, political suicide.

The position of General Secretary of the German Communist Party was originally conceived as a democratically elected position by the people's popular vote in 1865, the foundation of the socialist republic. However it was constitutionally amended into a position confirmed by the Party's vote in 1912 in order to enable the "vanguard" idealism of the Party to come into fruition.

Kuhn's election doesn't only mark the continued dominance of his support in the political arena of the Edelreich, but also his tenure as both Chairman of the Ministers - the German's head of government - and the General Secretary. Foreign criticisms, mainly stemming from former citizens that left the state, describe the effective dictatorship that exists in the country under the two-position rule. The state has vehemently denied these accusations, explaining that the Communist Party, its democratic process, and the rule of the people prevent the rise of a non-dictatorship of the proletariat from being possible.

Notwithstanding international controversies, the government has called for a week of celebratory appreciation for the success of their electoral process, and their significant location as the dominant socialist country in Europe.

Aeurian Prince Jean-Pierre VIII has sparked a fierce debate within the imperial government about the legal status of the controversial Communist Party of Aeuria after publicly stating he was "not opposed" to the recent formal registration of the CPA as a legal political party within the Aeurian Commonwealth. The Prince, senior Consul of the Aeurian Senate and the youngest son of Emperor Aleksander, made the statement in response to a question posed by a reporter at a post-session press conference at Senate House. The news spread like wildfire; some interpreting the statement as an endorsement of the CPA while others insisted the statement was a simply a reflection on certain legal realities.

While not officially banned, the Communist Party of Aeuria and countless other left-wing coalitions are not recognized as a legitimate political coalition by the imperial government. This means, in effect, that while members cannot be arrested or penalized for their association, the CPA has no legal standing, rights, or privileges afforded to officially registered and recognized political organizations; such as the ability to submit candidates for government appointments and exemption from certain taxes. While the idea of Aeurian political parties may sound strange, there are 3 officially recognized political organizations: the Royalist Front, the Green Party, and the Aeurian Republican Coalition. Despite the abolition of public elections for public office, these parties still remain active - vying for appointments within various Ministries and the rare opportunity of joining the Imperial Senate.

The Senate and indeed most influential positions within the imperial government are dominated by the Royalist Front who, unsurprisingly, support the sweeping authority of the Crown. There are only 7 Senators out of 100 that are members of the other two other organizations; 5 Greens and 2 Republicans respectively. Having evolved over the 2 centuries of its existence the Green Party remains committed to environmental issues which remain popular with the public and crown alike and often votes in favor of Imperial or Royalist proposals. The Aeurian Republican Coalition however has fallen out of favor in recent years, owing its 2 Senatorial positions to hereditary titles. To many, both within the government and the Aeurian public, the idea of a new political party seems unimportant and irrelevant when the Aeurian Emperor has reigned supreme for over 3 decades. The fact that such a party is Communist only diminishes the issue further.

However, the CPA has seen a modest but steady rise in membership over the past 6 months and many within the party argue they have grown more popular than the Republican Coalition and should therefore, at the very least, be granted legal status. With an official membership count of just over 1.2 million, the CPA is undoubtedly a political minority within the Commonwealth. With many prominent Socialist nations occupying the world however, the imperial government seems fully-aware of the ill-effect it would have on already-strained international relations were it to ban the CPA outright. However, most of the Commonwealth's allies and partners staunchly oppose Communism so legally recognizing the movement, whatever the size, would no doubt upset Aeuria's interests.

This debate has burned quietly for decades behind the closed doors of government palaces and coffee shops alike throughout Aeuria but seems to again be resurfacing after the Prince's statement. Neither the Imperial Palace or the CPA could be reached for comment.

Is the specter of communism once again haunting over Europe, or possibly even the entire world this time? Many have begun to believe so, with the rumors of meetings and calls between the leaders of the European Tripartite: the communist nations of Aralia, Vanesse and Edelreich adding fuel to the fire. Speculation has risen as to what this entails, and if the international communist movements of the past will return once again.

The Tripartite has been inexplicably connected since their own communist revolutions in the 19th century, forming the center-block of states against the "conservative alliance" that consumed European politics. The Tripartite, while never an official organization, served as a symbolic representation of goodwill and fellowship between Aralia, and the younger communist countries of Vanesse and Edelreich. The parties of each state feared a future reaction against their rise, and plotted to create a secret alliance that permitted collaboration and cooperation in war. The expected reaction never came, instead the world boiled over into international wars that devastated entire countries and destroyed the wealth culminated by imperialist states.

Having already an ideology that endorsed internationalism and political awareness, the Tripartite took advantage of the subsequent recessions to sponsor communist parties and movements around the world. Only a few countries could claim to have entirely avoided any influence from the Tripartite during the 1950s and 1960s, and even into the tension-ridden 70s did reactions against communist infiltrations continue. With the enmity between socialists and capitalists, and the hostilities between both communist and fascist movements, the average person expected that war would breakout again. Fortunately, the world was spared conflict as the Tripartite fell into inner squabbles, and the Edelreich, who unofficially led the trio as the premier socialist power, faced an internal power struggle that discontinued their interest in socialist internationalism.

However now it seems that the European communists are prepared for a new commitment of their powers in order to support international class consciousness, and to prepare a response against the growing nationalist sentiments in the world. Private sessions between the recently reelected Premier of Edelreich, Manfred Kuhn, and both Chancellor Adrius Virgo and President Pier Veltman indicate recent changes in the political landscape of Europe. Rumors also exist of the three countries reaching out to other proletariat states, and a prospective meeting in the future that might create a new geopolitical force - one evidently with intentions of spreading their views wherever possible.

Regardless of worries around the world, and the fear of possible conflict on the horizon, some were noticeably pleased with the possibilities that lie in store. As one Aeurian self-professed socialist commenter said, "Totes cool. Can't wait."

The Royal Canadian Navy has been put on high alert after a ballistic missile test in the Svalbard archipelago by the Scandinavians, a group of islands almost 2,000 kilometres from Greenland, violating the arctic treaty that was put into place between the two nations in 1922 following the rise of the Fascist party in Scandinavia. While some within the houses of Parliament have described the actions as Liberal MP Rob Anders from Nova Scotia described it; "typical of a racist fascist nation with a Germanic superiority complex attempting to display its strength and power", the Conservative opposition have insisted that Canada should act swiftly and efficiently to prevent the Scandinavians from further violating the treaty which has kept the peace in the region for decades.

The Scandinavian Ambassador to Canada in Vancouver, Ludvig Dahlberg, released several statements supporting Scandinavia's actions and commented on nullness of the treaty after almost a century since its passing.

"...the Isles of Svalbard are under the sovereignty of Scandinavia, therefore it is up to our own discretion, as any other nation, to how we decide to use our land... indeed, the Arctic Treaty that was passed soon after the glorious founding of the Scandinavian Federation in 1922 has kept the polar region safe, but it has been nearly a century since then and times have changed around us. We simply put can not and will not follow such an outdated document in 2017. If the Canadians wish to re-negotiate it, we shall, but until then we consider the document null and void."

Prime Minister Tremblay has stated that Dahlberg's statement is "preposterous" and have expressed concerns over the future safety of the North Pole, but has expressed his desire to maintain the peace and has requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs look into organizing a meeting with the Scandinavians to discuss the treaty.

The Noiharan government has decided to adopt compulsory conscription for women as well as men. Even though women were not required to perform military service until now, the number of women serving in the Noiharan Army has been increasing. Women have served in the medical service since 1918. From 1939 they were also allowed to serve as enlisted personnel and non-commissioned officers in the medical service and the army bands. Since 1945 they can serve in all functions of service without restriction, but they were not subject to conscription. Presently around 299.064 women on active duty and a number of female reservists who take part in all duties including peacekeeping missions and other operations.

Changing the conscription laws is important for two reasons. We have an increasing number of women not performing their duty for the country whether it is not bearing enough children or not working hard enough to improve the economy. These times are now over. All citizens shall have the same obligations, regardless of sex. Secondly, in insecure time like these, especially because of the communist threat, we need secure the Noiharan operational capabilities and national safety in the future, we need to recruit the best. Therefore we cannot limit our recruitment to the male half of the population while the other half does nothing or simply not enough. We need to strengthen the Volksgemeinschaft (people's community), says Yuuko Nakamura, the Noiharan Defence Minister.

Following the announcement of the socialist tripartite becoming more active, the fascist movements across the world began reorganizing themselves. The three main fascist nation, the Empire of Nowistrana, the Empire of Noihara and the Union of Scandinavia are now calling for unity against the socialist threat. The Noiharan Supreme leader Akio vi Noihara, whose nation unofficially is leading the fascist bloc, even goes as far as to say that "socialism is the biggest threat to a modern and healthy society."

The United Front of Independent Nations (UFIN), became an actual organization in 1949 and is the main sponsor of fascist movements around the world ever since it was founded. Before 1949, the Kuromorinime-Berezina-Stockholm Axis, not an actual organization but rather symbolic alliance between Noihara, Scandinavia and Nowistrana, coordinated the fascist movements. Ever since it's foundation, it opposed socialism and democratism whilst promoting conservatism, authoritarianism, and nationalism as, at least in the eyes of the UFIN, they're needed to save humanity from its decadence. With the Empire of Noihara, sometimes described as the "fascist heaven", the UFIN chose itself a very stable and reliable leader. Political opposition in Noihara is nonsignificant, the population is highly indoctrinated due to various governmental organizations and the Noiharan Armed Forces as well as the nation's security agency are certainly forces to be reckoned with.

The Noiharan Supreme Leader shows himself concerned about the revival of the socialist tripartite, "Socialists believe in a rotten ideology. All men are not created equal! Some are born swifter afoot, some with greater beauty, some are born into poverty and others born sick and feeble. Both in birth and upbringing, in sheer scope of ability, every human is inherently different. This is why people discriminate against one another, which is why there is struggle, resulting in competition and the unfaltering march of progress. Inequality is not wrong, equality is. What of the socialist nations which made equality a right and with its equal distribution of wealth? Rabble politics by a popularity contest. Nations of lazy dullards. But not our fascist movements, we fight, we compete, evolution and progress is continuous. Noihara together with its allies move forward, advancing steadily into the future. We will fight on, we shall struggle, compete and dominate, and in the end, the future shall be ours because the future belongs to the strong. Even though our Fatherland is sacred to us, unlike those communists who only see their ideology, we fascists are people one can talk to and negotiate with. Therefore Noihara wishes to extend its arms to all nations around the world: Do not sit back and wait! Let us cooperate for the sake of human progress, at least as long as communism threatens the world peace. Let us unite our effort against communism so that our children can live safely in the future."

Following a wave of militarization across the globe, the Alcasian President addressed her Media Debriefing directly by meeting with journalists outside of the Presidential Office. Following just one month after her reelection in the 2016 General Election that saw a shift in national policy from a majorly conservative to a democratic socialist assembly, President Marie Pierre has been taking more initiative in entrenching the Parti Socialiste's policies into law. One aspect of the Socialists' agenda is a stronger connection with La Francophonie, a powerful alliance of francophone nations that was conceptualized during the early 20th century and officially established in 1950.

La Francophonie is a inter-governmental organization that strengthens the economic, political, and social connections between francophone countries, among these are The Canadiens, Alcase, and Aeuria. Throughout the last few decades, La Francophonie has proven to contribute positively to francophone economies while facilitating coordination of humanitarian and scientific efforts of all nations involved.

President Pierre siezed the opportunity to bring together the allies of the Alcasian Republic just today; she was seen and heard today speaking positively of her global allies, calling for La Francophonie to, "strengthen its position in the world," and that this position demands of its organization, "the strategic coordination of its executives, which should be addressed more intimately."

President Pierre went on to encourage La Francophonie's heads of state to convene in Paris, with the promise of the full security of Alcase despite its peculiar state as a "city upon a hill." Addressing the organization's agenda, President Pierre cited the recent scientific breakthroughs made by La Francophonie's research arms and grants and long history of self-preservation in the face of history's many dilemmas as its strength and sound resilience.

While her call upon Alcase's allies to convene in Paris was direct, the specifics of what will be discussed have not been made public. There is no doubt in the public's mind, however, that the goal of this emergency meeting will concern the stability of the Francophone alliance in the face of fascism across the globe.

In response to growing tensions in the Arctic, the pending executive meeting of La Francophonie, and the apparent remilitarization of the UFIN, the military of Edelreich has decided to assemble with the express purpose of re-deciding core doctrines of the Edelreich. The meeting is to take place in Ostburg, after the insistence of Premier Kuhn who was reportedly alarmed by the anti-socialist ramblings of Noiharan leader Akio vi Noihara and the disagreements between Scandinavia and Canada. The future La Francophonie meeting doesn't seem to be a major point of worry for the Republic's leadership, but it's likely still on the agenda this coming week.

While Edelreich has maintained an increasingly developed and modernized fighting force, over the last few decades the relative state of international peace made increased funding difficult to argue for. After the European Tripartite fell apart in 1989, the German military was downsized following political reform as it lacked a direct opponent. While the Socialist Councils remained opposed to capitalism around the world, the government was forced to collaborate as it lacked international power. Since 1995 the Republic has maintained embassies with historically antagonistic countries, such as Aeuria and Alcase. And while they don't have official embassies, Edelreich also retains diplomatic staff for fascist states like Noihara or Nowistrana.

With the recent events around the world, mostly in response to Edelreich's own intentions to revive the Tripartite, the socialist German state has been placed at an impasse. The leadership, according to political scientist Burkhart Heitz, is now becoming increasingly aware that in order to further their internationalist agenda, the state needs to be prepared for war. The military, which has since been structured into a mainly Eurocentric defensive force, will not do on a grand scale. Due to funding cuts, most of the People's National Army's reserves of military equipment and tanks have been mothballed, and the navy has reduced patrols into only bordered bodies of water.

Nevertheless, the reelection of Premier Kuhn has provided new motivation to change this by revealing the government's hardline ways are still popular with the people. While some difficulty is always to be expected with gathering data from the Edelreich, a WWJ poll found that nearly 70% of Germans believe that fascist or nationalist sentiments still actively threaten their country today.

So the reorganization of the military is both a message of the Edelreich government's continued persistence, and a populist approach that many in the country deem necessary. It still stands to be seen what improvements will be made in the upcoming meeting, but it is surely bound to cause some tension with those already cautious of the Council Republic's maneuverings.

The Aeurian Foreign Minister, Richard Bordeaux was seen arriving at the Presidential Palace in the Indonesian capital this morning despite no announcement by either nation of such a visit. The Foreign Minister's surprise arrival has raised concern about the reason for his meeting with the Indonesian President. Even stranger, neither Aeurian or Indonesian state-media have reported the visit.

In what one assumes was intended to be a private meeting, Indonesian President Joko Widodo personally received Minister Bordeaux as he arrived at the residence. The two men appeared to exchange a handshake and a joke before disappearing behind security personnel. The secretive nature of the meeting has prompted some Indonesians to worry about what their President might be discussing with the nation's former colonial rulers.

Some Indonesians have long held the belief that the Aeurians were never content to release their country from colonial rule nor possessing any intention to actualize the nation's independence. The former colony is economically dependent on the imports of the Commonwealth to provide for its most basic provisions including foodstuffs and medicine. Despite being independent for nearly 4 decades, Indonesia has failed to distance itself from its former overlords or forge meaningful international relationships with major nations. This cultural, economic, and political proximity to the Commonwealth is a source of great discomfort for some Indonesians who fear renewed colonial rule.

Despite these contentious claims, polls in recent years have shown the majority of Indonesians, approximately 54%, approve of returning to Aeurian rule. Many historians and sociologists have freely admitted the quality of life and public services were far greater under colonial rule. While the academics of Indonesia certainly cannot speak for its entirety, its President can and is - to the very people who may take a renewed interest in controlling the resources and people of Indonesia.

The content of their meeting is likely to remain secret for weeks to come, however if the growing crowd outside the Presidential Palace is any indication of public interest in the matter - the two states may be forced to disclose the specifics sooner rather than later.

Despite having been present in the country for less than 24 hours, Aeurian Foreign Minister Richard Bordeaux seems to have set in motion the "total and immediate" annexation of the Republic of Indonesia by the Aeurian Commonwealth. In a joint-statement from the Presidential Palace this morning, Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Foreign Minister Bordeaux announced the former Aeurian colony would return to imperial rule to "safeguard the Indonesian people against the threat of misrule".

The news comes as a shock to the Indonesian and Aeurian public alike as the two governments work at lightning pace to restore one of the Commonwealth's oldest colonial holdings. Protests and celebrations erupted in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta as the statement aired on national television and radio. Meanwhile in the Aeurian capital of Praevalidus, a very different scene is unfolding. Despite the recent controversy sparked by Consul and Imperial Prince Jean-Pierre VIII, the Aeurian Emperor appeared publicly with the Prince and the Princess Marie, His Majesty's only daughter, in what appeared to be a commemoration of the event.

Specifics remain unclear however the Indonesian government has stated, through the Office of the President, that the President would "fully cooperate" with Aeurian officials. The Indonesian military has been ordered not to impede any Aeurian soldiers and to report to their assigned barracks to begin a "peaceful transition of authority to the Imperial High Command and a comprehensive overhaul and integration with the Imperial Armed Forces of Aeuria" as quoted by a military spokesman. It seems the entirety of the Republic of Indonesia has been fast-tracked for the process of reintegration into the Aeurian Commonwealth overnight.

While the extent of the popularity of a return to imperial rule with the Indonesian people remains to be seen, it is only natural that Aeuria's bold and unannounced return to imperialism will ruffle more than a few feathers in the international community.

Edelreich Ambassador to Aeuria Rosa Hoffman took part in the outrage surrounding the planned Aeurian annexation of Indonesia by sending an official letter of protest, taking opposition at the sudden imperialist move by what is La Francophonie's strongest member. The letter, which was permitted by the German Foreign Affairs department as an official representation of their policies, is sure to create some difficulties in the Aeurian government. Aeuria has long walked a thin line between neutrality towards the German state, and taking an outright hostile position on socialist movements.

Hoffman's letter decried the "imperialist aggression" of the Aeurian empire, stating that their annexation of Indonesia is not legal. In-line with Party values, Hoffman criticized the harsh capitalist expansionism at play in Aeuria and compared their actions to that of a fascist regime without care for the minorities in their empire.

The Ambassador's words echoed that of the German government, which officially condemned the actions of the Aeurian state and Emperor Aleksander following its early morning announcement. Premier Kuhn brushed off Aeuria as imperialist and argued that the rights of the worker and indigenous peoples of Indonesia were more significant than any colonial claim. More pressingly, and of potential future effect, the Edelreich called for mass demonstrations and general strikes against the move, especially in Indonesia itself. Whether this will have any impact is currently unknown, as the Aeurian government has historically not respected civil disobedience in its colonial territories.

If anything is certain, the annexation is surely to cause a rift between the already damaged relations of Aeuria and the Edelreich. Demonstrations are expected to take place in Ostburg later this week, likely demanding further actions from the socialist government.

The recent conflict in the world, which is culminating in a confrontation over Indonesia, has apparently not dampened the American spirit, as the country's royalty announced that their annual Queen's Ball - an event in celebration of the current and historic females of the monarchy - will continue without a hitch.

Many expected that international tensions would have made the ball unfashionable at this time, but the American royalty is clearly saying otherwise. Based in Philadelphia, the seat of the Crown, the Queen's Ball has been a major cultural presence for the royal family since 1824. Likewise with other societal gatherings, the ball allows the hundreds of noble houses to converge on Philadelphia, acting as a symbol of unity for the country. The royal affair continuing shows the importance of the pomp and circumstance of the monarchy, and that world conflicts will not give pause to American traditions.

The culture of American isolationism, at least in the terms of not harboring foreign sentiments and observing international disasters, has largely been a central part of the American political culture. Rarely has the monarchy given pause to their activities, only cancelling one event in 1984 when the Aeurian Emperor Lucas XIV passed away. Though even this was exceptional as the government called for a week of mourning; the only time for a foreign incident. Rather the stereotype of the uncaring American seems exceptionally true these days, with the average citizen poorly versed in world history that does not directly relate to the country. Though America has cultivated a certain uniqueness in their royal culture, developing an intricate and fanciful network of noble families in a nation with no former history; no founding myths or ancient national figures.

Some argue that this is the primary reason of the significance of royal events, as they provide an image of awe to a country lacking in long-spoken traditions. Likely, the United States will remain the last monarchy to ever form, and in the eyes of more aged families, ever fledgling.

The Queen's Ball will be an open affair to most allies of the kingdom, although the main attendees will still be the local aristocratic families of the state.

Edelreich Defense Minister Johann Behr raised some controversy on Sunday when he declared that a traditional ground war is unlikely in the modern world. The statement was brought on during a press release in Ostburg, following military reforms announced by the government, where the Minister was present. Asked about the future preparedness of the German military, and where the People's National Army fits in, the Minister boldly stated that "A ground war is impossible in the 21st century."

Some quickly took the comment out of context, assuming that Minister Behr was stating his disapproval of increased funding for the PNA, but he was quick to clarify otherwise.

"In the past, the general strategy of our military was to be impossible to defeat in a defensive war. The Army was effectively our shield, a force that could be committed anywhere on the continent; and in force too." The Minister reasoned on television last night, being interviewed by the GNA. "We can't bring revolution with an army that can't project itself outside of Europe."

While Behr agreed that funding was necessary, as it provided the "basic necessities of mass national defense," he doubted that the Army would be able to assist the Tripartite in any major way. At least traditionally. Many have continued to argue that the Army serves an important role as a premier fighting force, able to educate resistance movements and organize advisers around the world to assist in communist revolutions.

But Minister Behr does have a point. In the 21st century, after decades of military advancement, the idea of mass infantry warfare is becoming increasingly removed from reality. With deadlier and more efficient weaponry introduced every day, the practicality of an infantry-based war outside of Europe has become unlikely for the Edelreich. It would simply be too expensive and costly, with a prolonged engagement likely to bring on its own issues. Military experts reason that the cost of occupation makes any major land entrenchments that don't include local movements, ineffective.

"People would never accept a government introduced by a foreign power, if they themselves weren't in support of it and fought for it." Former Major Max Rothman explained in a phone interview with our WWJ sources in the Edelreich.

However, as Minister Behr and others alluded to, the military future of the Edelreich is not so dim as people once thought. "Wars of the future will be skirmishes." Behr said. "We won't need to deploy, only show our resistance and power through acts." Many military officials have begun a renewed push for greater aviation funding, with some arguing that the Edelreich's Air Force stands as the preeminent fighting force of the day.

"We need to support an aviation culture. Show Germans that our pilots are nothing less than heroes and pioneers." The Minister declared. Many around the Edelreich agree. The German Air Force, the People's Air Service, has seen steady incremental funding growth since the 1990s, but now the possibilities lie in a major funding refocus encouraged by both the Premier and the national leadership. New-age German fighter craft would be able to influence international issues, and provide major support around the world.

As some have argued already, the PNA's main point of existence serves to make Edelreich impossible to invade. From either the north, east or west the German military has spent decades on fortifications to uphold their socialist values. The struggle for the international proletariat now seems to come from the air, where the German government hopes a future of sovereignty over both Europe and abroad may hold.

The first joint training exercises for freshly deployed American troops and their Aeurian counterparts is underway in Aeuria, ahead of the Department of Defense's announcement of international military cooperation.

Two American brigades numbering 8,000 troops arrived at Fort Marmore, Caevia earlier this month, consisting of an armored and infantry brigade respectively. Exercises that started Monday at the Sector 17 training facility involved land troops, tanks and armored vehicles of the American and Aeurian armies. The training operations are the largest international venture undertaken by the American military to date, and is part of a wider program being launched by the DoD.

The Kingdom of America's military has existed since 1776, although decades of influential leadership has changed the initial purpose of the services from irregular national defense to a regulated military. The Department of Defense has mimicked the regimental system of Europe since the late 19th century, copying over Prussian and German military traditions into an American format. While the military has been criticized as draconian for some of their practices and cultural institutions, the armed services of the Crown are some of the most modernized and well-regimented forces in the Western Hemisphere. While both forces focus on offense doctrines and theories of attack, the American army departs from Aeurian goals in that it serves as a withstanding army. That means, the army of the kingdom is drilled in resisting large-scale infantry and artillery-supported offensives, and launching their own regimented attacks. Outside of very minor deployments, however, this is largely hypothetical since the kingdom has never been in a modern engagement.

Both the younger brother of the King, Prince Michael, and the kingdom's Ambassador Thomas Miller observed the early training exercises alongside Louis-Gaspard de Caevia, the Grand-Marshal, and Princess Marie of the Aeurian Crown. Ambassador Miller was later impressed by the performance, saying that "American and Aeurian troops were destined to work together." Present military commanders also praised the cooperation and trust displayed by both sides.

Some feared that the language and culture barrier would prove difficult to any joint exercise, but it seems that the militaries of America and Aeuria managed to rise above those worries. While the first training operations handled unit cohesion and cooperative maneuvers, later programs for the month of exercises will practice weaponry and equipment interchangeability. The entirety of the deployment will be focused on arid climate fighting, taking place in the hot interior of the Aeurian continent. Simulated operations and other war games are expected to take place as well.

The military deployment shows the continued support of cooperation between American and Aeurian forces, which many had feared threatened after the planned annexation of Indonesia was revealed to the public. The DoD and other executive offices of the Crown refused to comment on possible conflicts in the future, but an official statement from the Crown itself cleared any confusion: "His Majesty wishes to convey that the annexation of Indonesia is a matter outside of our control or responsibility," a representative of the King stated. "The matter is of a stately concern between the Commonwealth of Aeuria and the Republic of Indonesia, and our input isn't required."

The deployment comes as a statement to nations that the American government is dedicated to expanding the international capabilities of their military, and is willing to strengthen relations with the Aeurian empire as a possible major ally in the region.

General Secretary of the All-Nowistranian Fascist Party Alexandr Rodzaevsky has called on top Nowistranian military officials to increase the “combat potential” of Nowistranian ground forces in another attempt to boost his army amid rising tension with communist forces. The Nowistranian Head of Government stressed that along with the navy and aviation forces, the role of ground forces was “immense” during a meeting with officials in Moscow on Thursday. He said it was down to them to keep ground forces well-equipped and ready for battle.

“Our task is to provide them with the best arms, to equip them with modern technology and to significantly increase the combat potential,” said Mr. Rodzaevsky.

Rodzaevsky also said "the secure, stable and measured work of the whole military-industrial complex is imperative" in reaching the country’s military ambitions and that "the equipment that is sent to the troops must meet the quality and reliability requirements in full”. He also announced a new state arms program, planned up to 2020, being developed and that “the volume of new arms in the army and navy must reach at least 70 percent by 2019”. He stressed the importance of autonomous systems in boosting the country’s defense.

“Another important and promising direction is the autonomous robotic systems,” he said. “They are able to fundamentally change the entire arms system of the general-purpose forces. We need our own effective developments in this area as well."

The recent comments of the German Defense Minister regarding Air Forces made the Nowistranian snap check its aerospace forces’ capability to ensure the country’s protection. The government already has confirmed its ability to protect the country from modern and advanced offensive weapons

"The inspection has proved the necessity of a comprehensive approach to the task of protection of major facilities from air and space weapons. It has proved the Russian aerospace forces’ capability to fulfill their designated tasks efficiently and ensure the protection of the country from modern and advanced aerospace weapons," he said at a ministry board meeting.

The check was conducted at the order of Nowistrana’s Supreme Commander-in-Chief and involved military control bodies of the aerospace forces’ command, its subordinate divisions and army units. In all, the inspection covered 46,000 servicemen and 1,800 units of military hardware.

"For the first time, the drills involved air defense and anti-missile units and fighter jets which demonstrated detailed coordination in hitting hypothetical targets," the minister said.

Last night at midnight a newly revised version of the Arctic Treaty System (French: "Traité sur l'Arctique", Nordic: "Arctic Traktaten System") also known as the ATS / TSA went into effect which, to the hopes of both the Canadian and Scandinavian governments, will maintain peace and stability at the pole for both nations and their respective alliances. The Treaty, which first was first created following the rise of the Fascist government in Scandinavia in 1922 maintains its four basic premises;



The main topic of contention among was the exact definition of where the Arctic starts, the original 1922 Treaty stated that the boundary of the Arctic started at the Arctic Circle (66.33 N), notably including large portions of mainland Scandinavia and Nowistrana. The newly agreed-upon boundary is the 82nd parallel north, pushing the Treaty's effective zone far deeper into the Arctic and past the Svalbard archipelago, where the crisis started, much to the concern of both environmentalists and MPs alike. A second topic of discussion was to prevent a situation similar to this from occurring again, this was resolved by establishing a policy for meetings to discuss the Treaty once every two years.

Prime Minister Tremblay expressed his hopes that the newly revised Treaty which he described as "mildly inconvenient for Canadian Arctic interests" will continue to prevent a conflict in the future between Canada and Scandinavia.

After only 5 days since its announcement, the Aeurian annexation of the Republic of Indonesia has been completed according to a statement from the Aeurian Crown. The statement, made publicly by the Director of the Executive Office of His Imperial Majesty, Sir Francis de Paon, details the formal dissolution of an independent Indonesian state in favor of an imperially-controlled, unitary colony. Consistent with Aeurian colonialism, the newly minted colony of "Greater Indonesia" has been assigned a Viceroy, Count Charles Beckler III, to maintain and enforce imperial rule.

Count Beckler, an experienced and decorated diplomat to the Indonesian state since its independence in the 1970's. For more than 40 years, the Count, age 70, has worked in either the Aeurian Embassy in Jakarta or more recently in the Presidential Palace as a senior advisor to the former-President Joko Widodo. Lauded as a respected and well-known face within Indonesia, the Palace seemed confident the Count would continue in his "faithful service to the people of Indonesia and work to ensure a peaceful transition to imperial rule". A known loyalist to Emperor Aleksander, the selection of Count Beckler to head Aeuria's newest colonial acquisition in over 50 years seems only natural.

Despite having grown up in the aristocratic circles of the Commonwealth, Count Beckler found himself living in Aeurian-ruled Indonesia during the 1960's and 70's as his father assumed the senior posting at the Aeurian Embassy. A stranger to the sights and smells of the vastly different culture, Beckler soon immersed himself in all things Indonesian. By the time his father's tour had ended, the young noble found himself unable to leave the exotic islands and so remained as a political aide to the newly formed Republic. And there he stayed, working his way up the diplomatic ladder, until today when his appointment was made public. Now, more than 50 years since he first arrived on their shores, the Aeurian aristocrat will now govern the islands in the name of his emperor.

More than 50,000 members of the Imperial Defense Force have arrived on the islands in the past 48 hours, proving again the Aeurians intend to follow their own historical guidelines for colonization. The fighting force, roughly equivalent to the entire Indonesian military, will garrison across the colony in major cities and tactically important regions. The existent Indonesian forces will, over time, be trained, equipped, and reassigned to the IDF to serve as the principle members of the Indonesian Defense Corps - what will be the full-time Aeurian military presence in Indonesia.

Along with the Aeurian forces arrives serious military hardware: tanks, artillery batteries, rocket systems, AA-guns, and more. It seems despite the peaceful annexation of the islands, Aeuria intends to house a significant military presence on what is now a stepping-stone into South-East Asia. Whether they intend to expand their holdings further or not, the nations of the world would be wise to pay close attention to the actions of the Aeurian Commonwealth in the weeks to come.

Shengdi officials marked the country's Four Principles day on Thursday with a series of events around the country that began with a ceremony at the grave of former Emperor Xieren.

In Beijing the usually ordered streets were overtaken with a clamorous rapture as the Imperial Armed Services put on a show of arms at what is now the world's largest military parade in history. The city was decorated in elaborate red and yellow street tapestries, and the city permitted the launch of thousands of sky lanterns in the afternoon in reverence of the history of the state. Music and dance was also a common sight, as most of the city shut down business functions for the day to take part in the activities.

Celebrations aren't only contained to the cities, however, as the rural communities of the state took part in their own historic traditions. In Xiaweizhen, residents observed the holiday by retelling family stories and enjoying a treat of rice cakes and yellow wine. Other foods such as steamed perch and porridge is also usually eaten in honor of the holiday, and people around the country add their own little twists to the national celebration.

Religiously the holiday is important as well, the numerous Shengdese faiths offering incense and words of prayer in honor of their ancestors and country. This isn't only reserved for religious leaders either, as the average Shengdese might offer a prayer to their family's legacy. Wealthier citizens will likely pay a morning visit to their family shrines. The nobility also plays a major part in the commotion, performing renewed oaths and reinforcing their loyalty to the Shengdese Emperor.

For outsiders, Four Principles day can be confusing as it represents various aged traditions of the Shengdese, many of which were intended to keep a traditional grasp on society and foreign involvement. It is a common misconception that the holiday celebrates the Emperors of Shengdi. This is incorrect, as the only Emperor directly mentioned in the celebrations is usually Xieren, who established the Four Principles. As to what the Four Principles are, and how they relate to modern-day Shengdi, is a bit of a debate. Most commonly, they're ancient cultural beliefs and traditions of the people which were unified into a national ideology following the Xieren Reforms. And Four Principles day celebrates that.

Generally, the Four Principles are described as: an agrarian society; a tradition of military social dominance; political and spiritual inwardness; and the supremacy of the Emperor over all politics and government.

Agriculture was and is a staple of many Shengdese cultural traditions, and considered by the government to be the major strength of the country. It's no secret that Shengdi is a major exporter of produce, with rice, wheat, tea and soybeans all on the menu. Cotton and silk is also managed, and allows the country a defensive place in the world: most imports are non-essentials and the country is nearly self-sufficient. So while farming brings wealth to Shengdi, it also serves as a symbol of self-reliance and prosperity.

The military is one of the most important institutions in Shengdi, with the Imperial Armed Services usually receiving priority in the budget. While often criticized from a foreign perspective for being poorly armed and equipped, the IAS is the largest armed forces in the entire world. A complicated system of military traditions and honor, intermixed with imperial merit and familial commissions make the IAS a unique and often misunderstood power in the world.

Shengdese society is very religious, although many argue that the western understanding of religious institutions isn't really applicable to Shengdi. Rather, most consider spiritualism to be the dominant form of worship, with ancestral reverence and auspicious lifestyles widely appreciated. Family worship, incense burning and ancient temples are all icons of the many faiths home to Shengdi. However, the inwardness appreciated by the Four Principles does not only speak to religious views, as the imperial government has shown by distancing themselves from world affairs. Nationalist sentiments are common, and the concept that Shengdi come first is followed by most of the country.

Lastly, the Emperor of Shengdi maintains an interesting and powerful position in the country as the dominant figure in the political process. Democratic institutions are unfound and a system of meritocratic and nepotistic imperial offices rule the country. The Emperor is held as a symbol of the unity of the country, and is reverently supported by tradition and popular sentiment. While democratic movements have existed at times in the country, it is unlikely that any will ever get hold as public opinion is fully in favor of the monarchy.

As celebrations came to a close, the cultural spirit of the Shengdese was shown to be as strong as ever, with the nation firmly planted in their history and traditions.

The Aeurian Commonwealth has issued fresh claims on its former colonies in South East Asia drawing criticism and condemnation from the region. In an edict issued by the Imperial Palace this afternoon, the Commonwealth has claimed "by historical right... the lands of Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Burma, Singapore, and the Philippines." National governments have responded in a variety of ways to the demands from capitulation to the severance of diplomatic ties. Despite the ongoing political transition in Indonesia and continuing strain on international relations, the Aeurian Crown seems committed nonetheless to continuing its campaign of expansionism into Asia.

The move, while surprising in scope, should not have come as a shock to the region. The governments of Laos and Vietnam have expelled all Aeurian nationals, including the Commonwealth's entire diplomatic missions, ordering them to leave the country within 24 hours and in what was a prepared response of solidarity, the two nations firmly rejected the Aeurian demands. Meanwhile, it is understood the government of Singapore has received a staff of Aeurian officials and are conducting on-going negotiations. Thailand's President publicly responded to the Aeurian Emperor stating his nation "would not blindly surrender itself to foreign interests" and has demanded fair terms and assurances before agreeing to negotiations while Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak has invited Emperor Aleksander to personally conduct the annexation proceedings in Kuala Lumpur. The governments of Burma and the Philippines have both lodged official protests, summoning their respective Aeurian ambassadors to express concerns and opposition.

In what can only be described as a political blitzkrieg, the Aeurian Commonwealth has effectively laid siege to nearly all of South East Asia. The former colonial titan who released all but the entirety of its holdings peacefully in the 1950's and 60's has, overnight, awoken in a furious rage. While the annexation of Indonesia is still being processed by nations across the world and across the Commonwealth itself, the Aeurian Crown continues undaunted on a path of reconquest; the frameworks stable and familiar. Through diplomatic pressure alone Indonesia has been acquired, granting the Aeurian military an ideal staging point for a potential invasion of the mainland if required. It has already moved a force numbering more than 50,000 onto the islands, who have quickly occupied the Indonesian state. With initial demands being met in a few of its newly claimed colonies, the Commonwealth will likely be emboldened as its military presence in the region advances to the borders of neighboring states. While some of the nations possess a modern military, even in a combined coalition their forces would be dwarfed by a highly organized and well-equipped military which receives an annual budget of nearly $300 billion.

The situation in South East Asia continues to escalate, the Aeurians advancing so-far unopposed into their new empire. While teams of diplomats are engaged with each government in question, the Imperial Palace has confirmed Emperor Aleksander will travel to the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur to enter talks with Prime Minister Najib Razak on Sunday. Meanwhile, Aeuria continues to strengthen its hold on Indonesia as more and more military personnel arrive on its shores. With the threat of an armed conflict breaking out now a possibility, regional and international governments alike should be prepared for the worst.

Nowistranian military hardware, including T-90 battle tanks and BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles, have arrived at the northern Nowistranian-Kazakh Border after General Secretary of the All-Nowistranian Fascist Party Alexandr Rodzaevsky has called the Kazakh sovereignty "the biggest misunderstanding in human history". "Kazakhstan was Nowistranian beginning in 1223 when the Republic of Veliky Novgorod and the Principality of Nizhny-Novgorod seceded from the Kievan Rus' and merged to with the Union of Nowistrana. During the Grand Fascist Revolution 1917, Kazakh nationalists illegally seceded the province from the Nowistranian state. This was never corrected but now the time has come to reunite our two nations and to restore our Union.", said Rodzaevsky on Friday.

More than 1,900 units of Nowistranian military equipment, including T-90 battle tanks, BMP infantry fighting vehicles, 2S19 Msta artillery units and air units, were delivered to the border, the Nowistranian Defense Forces said in a statement. The commander of the Nowistranian Task-Force Svoboda, General Fyodor Tschernenko, said that the Nowistranian troops would be on high alert on the common border as it needs to be prepared for every occasion. Earlier, Tschernenko also said that his troops would begin training this week. The Nowistranian high command has confirmed that 28 Tu-22M Strategic Bombers, 14 Tu-160 Strategic Bombers, 12 Su-24M2 Tactical Bombers, 8 Su-34 Tactical Bombers and 8 Su-25SM Attack Bombers are part in the aerial units deployed. Furthermore, the task force would be supported by 25 Su-27SM and, 20 Su-35S and 18 MiG-35 Multirole Air Superiority Fighters.

While Nowistrana continues to point towards "a faulty Kazhakstan,” calling it “a source of instability,” Nowistrana has consistently denied that it wants a war between the two nations but wouldn't hesitate in case Kazhakstan will not cooperate. Berezina-Novgorod has also expanded its own military training and increased its strategic capabilities in this area since November 2016. In the meantime, the Nowistranian Empress Kristina Yekaterina Mikhaelev has granted full independence to the Nowistranian Army Command.

Rodzaevsky said that the Kazakh government should consider a peaceful unification with Nowistrana but Nowistrana would be prepared to intervene if their demands aren't met.

In response to the Aeurian Empire's new claims in Southeast Asia, the Shengdese Imperial Armed Services has ordered a front on the Vietnam-Laos border, officially to "protect their interests and people abroad." Tens of thousands of soldiers have already arrived at the border, and more are estimated to arrive in the following days as Shengdi mobilizes its military for war. Reportedly, the reclusive Emperor Hanying is personally interested in the ramifications of Aeuria's political moves in Asia, and has summoned his military advisers and royal council to Beijing. What might follow there is anyone's guess, as Hanying maintains a distance from all public spotlight.

However the deployment shouldn't be seen as salvation to Vietnam and Laos, rather far from it, as the IAS has refused all contact with their forces and Shengdi's government is not responding to official inquiries from the two besieged states. Early assumptions that Shengdi was intending to defend its border were also incorrect as the government described their forces as to "protect the Shengdese people and cultural traditions inside our neighboring states."

Even then, not everyone was convinced until the IAS released their official statement just minutes ago:

"Laos and Vietnam are home to centuries of Shengdese traditions. Many of our people have made homes for themselves and passed them down through generations. While we have tolerated these lesser states dictating the lives of our people for far too long, it is the possibility of an Aeurian hegemony of Shengdese people that must be prevented."

So indeed, the Shengdese forces don't come as saviors and friends to the Vietnamese and Laotians, but instead as another conqueror; this one in a superior and much more threatening position, and with clear designs on stopping Aeurian conquest.

It's an uneasy sight, however, to imagine the aged and alien Shengdi brandishing arms and preparing for war at such a time. Rather in the massive state, it's entirely plausible that many of the rural farmers have not yet heard of Aeuria's annexation of Indonesia, or even know that their government is steering into a direction of war. That's something that contrasts with the modern and extravagant Aeurian lifestyle that has given rise to the most powerful country in the world. Though it's too early to say if war will break out, and disingenuous to assume that the ancient empires of Shengdi and Aeuria could not reach a settlement.

Gunshots erupted on the streets on Kuala Lumpur this morning as the motorcade of Aeurian Emperor Aleksander XVII made its way to the Sultan Abul Samad Building, formerly the Viceroyal Residence from 1897 until independence in 1952, to meet with the Malaysian Prime Minister. While en route, a lone gunman stepped into the road and fired a handgun at the monarch's limousine. Malaysian and Aeurian security were quick to respond however as a city police officer tackled the would-be assassin as the motorcade sped away to safety. Unharmed and undeterred, the emperor continued his journey and met with the Prime Minister on schedule.

The shooter has been identified as Tijah bin Sayang, a 22 year-old Malaysian student who is a member of the Malaysian Communist Party. While the MCP has officially disavowed Tijah, his membership alone has been enough to convince authorities the student is only a pawn in a broader conspiracy. Only hours after the attack, Malaysian Special Police raided the downtown offices of the Malaysian Communist Party and arrested its leadership on charges of conspiracy and terrorism. The whereabouts of Mr. bin Sayang are currently unknown but he is believed to be in interrogation at Police Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. It is likely the Aeurian government will seek his extradition. There have already been calls from the Aeurian Senate for a bi-lateral investigation while others believe the Communist Party of Aeuria could be involved. Many in the Aeurian public were quick to speak out against the attack, others suggesting it offered proof of why their government has to restore order in its former colonies while others argued the opposite point.

"Attacks like this would never have happened before independence. Why you need Aeurian law and order." wrote one Twitter user. "Horrified to hear HM was shot at by a Communist! SE Asia NEEDS Aeurian invervention." another said. "Were the gunshots not loud enough? These countries don't want us anymore. Independent for a reason." one man said in opposition to his government's actions. "When you go to takeover a country and still get shot at on way there, maybe take the hint?" another posted. "Shocked to see national identities being assimilated in the 21st century under the guise of peace. Does Asia have history books?"

While the news of the shooting has shocked and divided his people, Emperor Aleksander was seen smiling as he was received by the Malaysian PM. While what was said during their discussion remains a secret, the two leaders emerged only a few hours later announcing the Malaysian state's immediate annexation by the Aeurian Commonwealth. The Emperor's celebration speech was brief however as he addressed the mobilization of the Shengdese military on the Vietnam-Laos border.

To His Majesty Emperor Hanying, I will say this directly - it is not and will never be Aeurian policy to disrupt or offend the unique and complex cultural history of the Shengdese people and nation. It is my belief that despite our nations' differences and the current military tension, a mutually beneficial understanding remains possible. The Aeurian people have no wish or intention to make an enemy of the Shengdese, whose culture and citizens have long enriched our nation's history. Instead, I extend to you an offer of friendship and cooperation; that we may quickly and effectively resolve any differences between our two nations and work towards a relationship in which both the Shengdese and Aeurian people can continue prosper.

While Aeurian soldiers advance into mainland Malaysia and consolidate control of the island of Borneo, Aeurian diplomats in Beijing prepare themselves for what will likely be the largest task of their careers: not only avoiding an armed conflict between the Aeurian and Shengdese empires but bridging the gap between two geographically and culturally distant capitals in a time of unparalleled tension. Meanwhile, the regional governments of South East Asia are in trapped in a tightening noose as both the Aeurian and Shengdese militaries loom over their borders.

Following on the heels of the botched assassination attempt on Aeurian Emperor Aleksander's life, the German communist government has called upon the citizens of Southeast Asia, and even Aeuria, to resist the imperialist aggression of the empire. Many Aeurians are using the assassin's move, and his political motives, as a justification of the annexation of Malaysia, and further movements against the other Asian states. Some have even turned their eyes towards the Aeurian Communist Party, shifting the blame for the attack that could have left Emperor Aleksander wounded or worse, on them. With the CPA being the only bastion of radical left-wing thought present in Aeuria, it only makes sense that the Edelreich would vehemently defend them.

This wasn't a call for protest only however, as the Edelreich has long supported a philosophy of sabotage and violent actions against the injustices of the ruling class. The Communist Party's official platform even views the actions of the proletariat as infallible, and argue that any action to bring about the communist world revolution is ultimately for the greater good. This clearly contrasts with common rule of law, and the Edelreich has faced harsh criticism from many sides for supporting sedition and rebellion.

"The people of Southeast Asia; the workers, the farmers that plow the fields, the intellectuals, and the good samaritans must now rise to the call. Their livelihoods will be destroyed and imprisoned under capitalist exploitation." The official statement said. "Violent resistance must be had against any and all signs of oppression. Rise up, for your family and friends."

It's unknown how other countries in Asia and elsewhere will respond to this, but the actual act of calling for treason by a foreign power is unlikely to blow over with little contention.

Early yesterday morning gunshots could be heard from the Scandinavian Embassy as a group of armed Finnish nationalists stormed the Embassy. Though the grounds were under the watch of numerous Scandinavian soldiers posted there, they where quickly overran by the sheer number of armed civilians with numbers ranging from 200 through 500. Almost everyone within the Embassy, including the Ambassador, was killed with only a handful of survivors escaping the intense blaze. Many bystanders noted a lack of an immediate response from the emergency services to the Embassy for almost and hour and ignoring the calls from not only the Embassy but by residents as well, raising if the Finnish government is partially responsible for allowing the raid to happen or supporting the ones who organized it. Quoted on resident; "...my family was awoken by the sound of gunfire and the smell of smoke rising down the road. Of course I called the police almost immediately after being awoken... they told us that they were already aware of what was going on and that the situation down the street was under control. So we waited and listened for nearly and hour before we saw and heard the flashing lights and sirens. The next morning we were told that it was the Scandinavian Embassy House that was attacked. Forgive my concern, but something about this does not seem right. We have had several fires and incidents in this area before, but never has it taken this long for a response". The surviving staff were quickly taken to and flown out of the country to Stockholm for safety. The following investigation revealed that a Finnish Nationalist group was responsible for the attack, but much to the anger of Scandinavians everywhere not a single person has been arrested despite the size and number of those who stormed the embassy.

Following the incident Det Lederen made a speech in the Riksdag before the Party vowing that deaths of those in the Embassy were not in vain, the Nordic minorities in Finland are under the rule of a 'failed' government, and that Scandinavia will make a swift and brutal response. Though the nation has yet to make an official declaration of war, Scandinavian forces are on the move and ready to respond to Det Lederen and the Party's call against Finland. A Party official was reported to have said; "If Finland can not protect their own people, we will."

Following growing military tension in South East Asia, the buildup of Shengdese and Aeurian military forces on the region's borders, and an attempted assassination of the Aeurian emperor, the two governments have emerged from negotiations to announce a "peaceful diplomatic conclusion" to the chaos that has engulfed the region. The empires announced the signing of the "Aeurian-Shengdi Non-aggression Pact". In addition to its stipulations of non-aggression, the treaty includes a supplementary protocol that divides the territories of Burma, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and the Philippines into Aeurian and Shengdese "spheres of influence", anticipating "territorial and political rearrangements" of these countries. The negotiations, believed to have taken place in the Aeurian Consulate in Hong Kong, came after a public call for peace to Shengdi's emperor by Aeuria's Aleksander. While it is unknown if the two monarchs personally spoke during the negotiations, it is understood both men were closely involved in determining the treaty's content.

Under the accords, the Shengdese Empire is to extend its borders to include the nations of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia while the Aeurian Commonwealth is set to take Burma, Thailand, and the Philippines; in addition to already-occupied Indonesia and Malaysia. Both nations have agreed to keep their military presence in the area to the "minimum required to maintain order". It is the first time Aeuria and Shengdi will share a land border in over 200 years. The border, which will run from northern Burma to the southern coast of Cambodia, will span nearly 3,200 kilometers of mountains, jungles, and rivers.

As an armed conflict seemed to have been rapidly approaching, many are relieved the two governments were able to reach a diplomatic solution. However, the international community is unlikely to celebrate the division of sovereign states between two imperial nations for the sake of peace. Furthermore, the cooperation between Praevalidus and historically isolationist Beijing has sent a message, even if unintentional, of closer ties that may unnerve some in the international community fearful of an Aeurian-Shengdese alliance.

Already, the German government has called for "direct action" by the people of South East Asia to resist Aeurian and Shengdese imperialism, a statement whose rhetoric is likely to sharpen following the non-aggression pact. Others worry Aeuria's apparent disregard for its Francophone allies could damage long standing cordiality and regional stability. There have been calls from within Aeuria for closer cooperation and notification of intentions to its allies, however these seemed to have been drowned out in the chaos of recent weeks.

While the future remains uncertain, it would seem that immediate disaster has been avoided. Both Shengdi and Aeuria stand to benefit immensely if they honor the terms of their treaty, however the international community may not be content to allow the two empires to fulfill their imperial ambitions. While celebrations have erupted in Beijing and Praevalidus alike, the reaction to the news in other capitals has yet to be seen.
