Meanwhile, Gustaf was still greeting the King of Roendavar. “Yes, it does seem quite crowded here. I presume nearly every nation has sent a delegate here?”

Callum nodded upon hearing the Hyukaians words. Soon after, he stood there alone, looking briefly behind him to see that the Hyukaian was indeed heading to the bathroom. He scanned the room looking for conversations to have - seeing if anyone was free that he was wanting to talk to.

Pava Sari was a Special Envoy to the International District from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lesva, who arrived in this partially enigmatic part of the world to inspect how people were living here. She took a bit of a drive around the area with the Lesvan diplomatic delegation. She wanted to see if the International District, also called the I.D. for short, was developing normally in the political, social and economic aspects, even sprititual ones, or whether this was an occupied territory repurposed by an outside power as a place of international business, while the rest of the international community just silently agreed to it?

After a drive-around the I.D, Special Envoy for the I.D. Pava Sari arrived at the International Building. Her stop there was a quick one and she did not intend to engage too much with the international political representation there, herself being an official from an isolationist government of Lesva. She primarily stopped there to rest and maybe cross paths with foreign colleagues before departing. She had a report to give to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lesva on how the I.D. was developing.

Emperor Pérez was never big on travel, so he wanted his trip to the International District to be quick and organized. Having rarely left Closnia since his reign began many years ago, he was not used to the dense city as compared to the sparsely populated forests of his homeland.

His trip across the border was only compelled by the notion that autarky wasn't going to work in Closnia for much longer. Eulalio Pérez's plan was simple. Find a way to sell the massive farm surplus and profit, and then utilize the trades to create a strong relationship.

President Alexandrio Caracas had finally taken the step that always needed to be taken. The communist insurgency had reached its climax that week, when thousands of their supporters had stormed a cluster of towns in the killzone, slaughtering the defense forces there. Now it was clear that the government could not sustain the battles. President Caracas decided that foreign aid was necessary, and he needed to act accordingly.

That doesn’t mean he wasn’t embarrassed about it. He had long been confident in Xenicks ability to prevail in the conflict, but ever since the resurgence of the communists after actions by its neighbors, he had lost his faith. He was having second thoughts after he boarded the plane to the ID. When he disembarked, he was taken by surprise by the heat, the culture, and the sounds, so different from Xenick. After an hour of driving, he finally walked up the stairs to the International Building.

“Hello to this assembly. I am Alexandrio Caracas, and I have an urgent request to make to the members of the esteemed assembly. My nation is under siege by Communist forces. We are unable to hold them back. I request military aid to beat back and eradicate the insurgency that plagues Xenick, for without support, we shall surely fall.”

Gabriel watches another man confidently stride into the rooms in and around the International Building where the delegates would meet to discuss matters of state and of international affairs. Gabriel, who was also the ambassador to the League from Keverai, focused his eyes in on the pin attached to the man's suit and recognised the flag - it was that of Xenick. Once the man, whom he presumed was some sort of senior leader of the nation, finished his short remarks to the room he quickly walked towards the man keen to learn more. He decided to go out on a limb, on the limited knowledge he had about the southern sea nation, and try to strike up a conversation with him.

"Good morning President Caracas", the delegate began in an unsure tone before collecting himself and continuing with his inquiry.

"Forgive me for I am not fully briefed on the challenges your people and your government face. I do understand, however, that the situation appears to be urgent and rapidly evolving. I must ask a few things first before I go back to President Renaut [the leader of Keverai] and discuss the circumstances you face to see what we can do to help.

Why are communists placing your nation under siege - where are they from and what are their motives? How significant is the damage your own military forces have sustained? Is there anyone accompanying you who can help us sort out the technicalities of international military intervention if that is what is undertaken? Obviously, a leader such as you must maximise your time amongst the various international institutions and delegations that are within the district at large. We are eager to learn more details about the crisis in Xenick."

Well, Gabriel, the battle is an inherently ideological one. The communists are eager to fight for their supposed utopian society, and they are willing to lay their lives down. They fight, because a democratically elected communist government is made impossible by our neighbors. Due to this, peace is not seen as an optional on both sides. In their siege on us, they utilize local arms shipments from a rampant black market, as well as international dealings, to fund and sustain their attacks on us. They are numerous and motivated, using propaganda to impress new recruits. But what never fails to shock me, is that they are mostly native Xenickese, and view themselves as the islands saviors, however wrongful they are. Our military forces, which were highly concentrated in the towns of Halpertino, Scottenburg, and Malonsville, were pushed out and crippled by a sudden wave of skilled and well armed communist forces. After the attack, we lost approximately 30.000 soldiers, crippling our ability To fight back. A military intervention is in pur eyes, a must. We are willing to negotiate the logistics, should you be willing to intervened. However m, for any intervention I recommend an average of 10 or 20 thousand stationed soldiers.”

"That is a most concerning development. Whilst Keverai can only do so much given the size of our defence force, we do have many friends who may be able to help you.", Gabriel began as he briefly scanned the room behind him where a group of delegates were speaking in small groups. He then noticed a Keomoran and saw his opportunity to seize the moment.

"Ah yes, and that is one of them over there. He's a representative of Keomora, a nation you must be familiar with. Shall we talk to him, Mr President?", he began.

The Xenick Presidnt then nodded and the two walked over to the delegate who was just finishing his conversation with another delegate Gabriel didn't readily recognise.

"Good morning", Gabriel begun

"Hello Mr. Barrette.", the delegate responded. "And... Mr President. It is a pleasure to see you again."

"It's a pleasure to see you again."

In a way Nguyen Rakamora was panicking. He has seen the reports about the dire situation in Xenick and was quite frankly appalled by the sorry state of their armed forces. To lose 30,000 men on a single attack, by terrorists no less would be crippling. If that had occurred in Keomora the High Command would have simply strung the commanding officer against a wall and have the buffoon shot. But the fact that the President was here rather than another delegate was an even bigger issue.
Why in the name of the Gods is here thought Nguyen to himself as he finished shaking the Presidents hand, with a grim smile that never reached his eyes.
"A tragedy befell your nation Mr. President and dark tides are upon us. My name is Ngguyen Rakamora,I am the official Keomoran delegate stationed her and perhaps we could take this upcoming discussion to a more private location? Gods knows why you came all this way but it would be very un-Keomoran to not help a neighbor in need." He pointed out a bench that seemed a little secluded from ongoing event.

Arrival of the Sylvaynian delegation led by Ambassador Matoa

Postby Sylvaynia » Fri Jul 16, 2021 2:25 pm

After many years of rebuilding since the Wine Glass Affair, King Zan-Vier Kraka of Sylvaynia had decided the time was right to send a delegation to the International Districts, a forum and neutral ground of the various nations of the Western Isles, to establish a presence among their regional neighbors and seek out diplomatic contracts and potential trade deals. Of course, intelligence gathering was to occur too, and the chosen diplomat for this assignment, Chief Yureii of House Matoa, knew this, but was glad that was not his part to play.

'I had never left the island before, I just happen to speak the most languages and my background as a lawyer got me this position. No matter what nothing will prepare me for this duty.' he thought morosely to himself as he looked out at the modern city. He and his staff were being dropped off by a royal yacht that was leaving almost as soon as their bags were ashore.

A pre arranged convoy of vans and SUVs arrived and loaded their belongings and themselves in short order and with little fanfare. Chief Yureii stared at his own notepad, in fear of spies and bolstered by his own paranoia, he had written his objectives down in the script of Old Salvii, a dead tongue and a dead alphabet that he only knew from his years as a student of ancient history and language. His first objective was blunt: "Establish diplomatic contacts with diplomats of immediate neighbors: Linaviar, Xenick, Keomora, Aprosia, and Panko, to further facilitate diplomatic and potential trade outside of that which is in the International district."

Yureii rubbed his greying hair, knowing it would likely soon be turned white from the stress, if he did not go bald first. His swarthy skin was already wrinkled and creased, and he also did not doubt his crow's feet would only deepen; especially as he glanced to the man seated directly to his left: He introduced himself as Mal-Tavoa Moran, his team's IT specialist and comms manager, but the diplomat knew better. He was not fooled by the man's handsome bright smile and friendly demeanor, his eyes were harsh and fritted from person to person, analyzing and searching for signs of weakness or deceit. Chief Yureii knew from that intense gaze he was no mere IT guy, but an agent of the Inquisition. He would never blow the man's cover of course, but that did not mean he enjoyed having what he knew was really both their resident intelligence agent and the Crown's insurance against misbehavior and treachery. Perhaps more of his companions were agents like him, but resolved to stay out of this man's way.

The rest of his retinue was a motley band of advisors and subject matter experts, but sprinkled among them were security experts and bodyguards who were mainly to protect the ambassador.

()

The remainder of their first day was setting up living spaces they had been provided and their equipment in their assigned offices. Truthfully Ambassador Yureii did not do much, his retinue insisted that as a High Chief, and their elder no less, they would set up things for him. It brought a smile to the old man's face, he had lived through the reign of Titus Dominatus, the foreigner despot, and he was glad some kindness and traditions had endured through the dark times.

The Following morning, he attended the first meeting of ambassadors. After his own brief introduction and welcoming pleasantries, he listened to the desperate plea of the Xenick President and resolved to send a missive to the king regarding it, if the Inquisitorial Service hadn't beat him to it of course, he would stand off and listen for now, but perhaps this could be an opportunity.

“I dont see why we couldn’t move away from all the, hubbub, we can move if it suits you.”
After the men move towards the bench, they sit down facing each other , and begin situating themselves. Bob Bobbi, who had up to that point, been lugging around a briefcase containing a laptop and chart. As he sits down, he brings the container onto the table, and opens it.
“What I have on this chart here is the official losses and result of the disaster in the triplet cities. I will let the both of you examine these freely, come to your conclusions as I get a little powerpoint on my laptop booted up. Not fancy or exciting, but quite important.”
The losses, as atrocious thought by the bewildered Keomoran, shock Gabriel harder, as he hadn’t been fully exposed to the scale if losses.
They read 30.000 casualties, including wounded, and captured EST: 4,000, as well as 130 vehicles destroyed, 12 downed helicopters, and immeasurable morale damage. The triplet cities of Halpertino, Scottenburg, and Malonesville were all regarded as far the frontline, and were regarded as safe as of Jan 3rd. By that same date, in May, the city fell under assault.
After the president moves on from the chart. He opens his laptop.
It contains an overview and timeline of the battle.
On may 3rd, the massive enemy attacks were recorded. By most conservative estimates,130.000 enemy soldiers were involved in total border conflict, taking swaths of land and assaulting mahor cities.

By may 4th, Xenickese supply lines had been broken down and assaulted by undetected insurgent forces, leaving government forces poorly supplied and in bad morale.
By may 15th, massive Xenickese casualties had been incurred, an EST 12.000 dead, wounded, or captured.

On may 16th, Scottenburg fell, and surviving Xenickese soldiers fled, or were captured. About 6,000 Xenickese soldiers had died defending the city

By may 23rd, Halpertino had fallen. Reconnaissance planes flying above the city collected evidence of a mass killing of captured Xenickese soldiers, backed up by eyewitnesses.
It was supposedly in retaliation for the killing of a Communist leader figure

By june 17th, Xenickese soldiers retreated malonesville. Reports showed that after the retreat, fires were reported in the city. Desertion was up to 16%, and the communists had been invigorated with success.

“These are the grim statistics. This is why I see foreign intervention as a must.”

Yureii chose not to approach at that moment, instead opting to retire to his office and drafting a message back to the Minister of State Relations, Lord Kaan Moratha of House Moratha, who would then bring his proposal to the king.

He outlined a proposal: offer Xenick military assistance via an expeditionary army and naval support, air assets would be deployed in limited numbers due to their needs on the home front, against the communist insurrection and aid with internal security, until such time is agreed upon that it is no longer required.

In exchange: Xenick would enter trade agreements with Sylvaynia and sign a treaty of non aggression and mutual defensive military assistance.

The Sylvaynian military had not fought an external conflict in decades, their equipment was modernized as well as it could have been due to the large weapon manufacturing sector the island nation maintained, and during the dark reign of Titus Dominatus, many Sylvaynian expatriates joined mercenary companies, foreign militaries, or fought in ideologically motivated terrorist or rebel groups all over the world. When the Kraka Dynasty retook the throne many of these expatriates returned, bringing their expertise with them.

While the Minister of War: Lord Vil-Shun Tukaan of house Tukaan, had never left the island, he was well educated in modern warfare and surrounded himself with former expatriates who had served time in the American army and marines, French Foreign Legion, and even men who had battled in conflicts in the Middle East and Central Asia as mercenaries. So theoretically at least there was no shortage of expertise.

By the time he received his response, he had prepared counter proposals and arguments in the inevitable meeting, and lodged a request to meet with the Xenick president with the promise of a military aid proposal.

Rakamora face remained impassive as the true scale of the disaster.
"130,000" he said aloud almost in disbelief. The situation was far worse than he could have had ever managed.

"You need more than 30,000 men" he declared, his voice steeled and self evident as though he was describing the weather around him. "I may not be an expert on the waters of war but I understand this: 130,000 men do not pop out of existence out of nowhere. They didn't simply seize the areas that you've lost, rather these areas may have simply surrendered and perhaps even joined willingly for what reason I know notl."

Rakamora sighed to himself as a worst case became revealed to him, one where Xenick fell, and a new communist regime aligned with Aprosia. For years the Keomoran Army has been the bastion against the Aprosian might, but that security would wither away if the northern and eastern border became vulnerable. Even worse was the ascendancy of Sylvaynia, the Keomoran government was still unsure in regards to their endgoal as a rising hegemony, but if the communists struck, and Sylvaynia took the risk to seize the Keomoran Peninsula, the economic, cultural and political heartland of the Empire, then that would spell the end for New Kemor. But that was far away and he had to focus on the here and now.

"From the barest of guesses we are looking at a massed insurgency with widespread support. 30,000 men will not be enough to turn the tide against that army and then occupy to fight the remaining insurgents. From what I can tell, we will need maybe double that, alongside one soldier per fifty people in your lost territories to reoccupy said land and ensure the insurgency is properly ended. And that endeavor is something that my government cannot afford to do as I would like to remind you Mr. President that both of our nations stand right next to the Aprosian bear, and at any sign of weakness may choose to swing their paw at us. But I may have a solution."

"The strength of my government has never been the souls in our army, or the economic strength that we have built. No, it was the relationship that we have build, the connections made and established all in the name of ensuring that Aprosia be contained. In that regard we will help you help you... give us 24 hours and we will have what you need to ensure that your government will survive. Give us 24 hours and we will grant you a Coalition, and together we might just endure this storm Mr. President."

Bob promptly went pale. He was overcome in joy for the fact he had a fighting chance to protect his nation, but he knew deep down, it would be a long struggle, possibly costing the nation it’s livelihood and vibrant culture. After considering for a moment, Bob extended his hand to Rakora.

“From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for this. This is a tragedy of massive human scale and imperils both our nations, so we must work together for survival. No secrets, or holding back can happen, including the coalition that may aid Xenick. Maybe one day in the future, Xenick can acheive the glory that Keomora has, and build it’s own ties. One day we will rest easy knowing that our nation has been cleared of an insurgency, and maybe who knows, our entire island will be safe and in harmony.”

Bob knew his words were idealistic, but he thought that if the international community, and more importantly, Keomora and Xenick worked together, this future could be achieved for the island. Bob took a breath and continued speaking

“I understand that insurgencies are nasty things to fight, but don’t underestimate these fighters. They are skilled, organized, supported, well armed, and motivated. These words cannot deter us from battle, but encourage us. With the help of the coalition, we will fight tooth and nail to regain the land. We can muster 200k men if we conscript, but I have confidence that they will suffice if we get better tacticians and generals.”

a meeting with the Keomorans

Postby Sylvaynia » Thu Aug 05, 2021 4:33 pm

Ambassador Yureii of House Matoa had submitted the request to meet with the Xenick ambassadors, as it would take time to go through such channels, he looked to the next item on his mental to-do list.

A simple white envelope that contained a letter that for his mission he had been allowed to read. It was plain with the exception of the a seal, the black rose of the Kraka Dynasty, a seal that had not seen official use since 1934.

The letter contained, in the ambassador's opinion, a heartfelt but potentially too compromising letter of greeting and apology to a fellow sovereign. Its contents also hit close to home for him. It was a matter of great shame to many Sylvaynians of the fate of the Keomori expatriates, who Titus Dominatus in the beginnings of his madness ordered slaughtered for "Hoarding wealth in defiance of the people". Yureii shuddered at the memory of those dark days, he had been a teenager during the slaughter and witnessed many Keomori neighbors murdered by bands of Titus's fanatics and militias who had been forced by the fear of execution to conduct the massacres.

It was a grim honor to bring forth this letter of reconciliation to the Keomori delegation. But both he and his Sovereign believed it was high time to right some wrongs and make amends.

With a few strokes of keys, whirr of a printer, the flourish of his signature, and the quiet assent of an aide. The request for a meeting was sent to the Keomori delegation.

Yureii rubbed his grey hair and practiced his fluent but rarely used Kemori, hoping this would at least relive some of the guilt of watching as a teenager, his best friend dragged away and butchered in his neighborhood street by a mob of Titus Dominatus's fanatics while he stood at his window, held by his parents and sister unable to intervene. The house guards barely keeping the baying mob from putting the whole street to the torch.

It isn't an uncommon practice for Belantica to rotate out their head representative of their delegation, so the arrival of the new Head Delegate, Claire Altrecht, was a normal occasion. Altrecht's background may have not been in foreign affairs or politics, but the Liberal-Tory coalition government decided to bend to the military's request and send in one of their own to serve as the new delegates, while this has caused some tension between the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the particular lieutenant colonel the MOD chose had a decent track record. This was part of a new plan for Belantica to become more "firm handed" in affairs, and expand their own influence through economic, diplomatic, and with much controversy back home, militarily. However, Altrecht is a classical "by the book" officer within the Army, and as such, knew how to talk with spheres outside of military scopes, and always conducted her duties in a professional manner, even making some of the older brass look like amateurs in terms of conduct. After the transition phase, Altrecht had to make a brief trip back to Belantica for Army-related work and a wedding for a cousin. Upon returning, she was aware of the slow progression of Resolution 22 in the League, but was not aware of the situation unfolding in Xenick.

"Good day Madame Altrecht, looks like you came from headquarters", a secretary said when Altrecht entered their office. " Either way, glad to have you back." Altrecht shrugged, "To be fair, it's what I chose to do, which involves a lot of running around. First I head to head back to the Army HQ to sign paperwork for transferring here, with a wedding right before. So once I was done at HQ I got back here, hence why I'm still in my greens", by greens meaning her formal uniform, "But now since I'm back, I'm wondering what's been going on in the ID." The secretary handed Altrecht a folder containing a list of things happening. "In all fairness, there wasn't much going on in the League after the debate on Resolution 22, once delegation did ask about pushing it to vote, but it seems to be the biggest concern of the League, given other things. Of course all the bullshit fighting in the KK places is going on, not a big surprise to anyone there, but what is been going around these halls is an ongoing crisis in a country called Xenick about a communist revolution that isn't very peaceful, which seems to be right up your alley. And I did also get you that list of nearby restaurants you requested that are pretty good."

"Well it seems like there were some interesting developments while I was gone," Altrecht responded, "by the sounds of it, this situation in Xenick needs attending to as that could easily cause problems with regional stability. Hopefully the Keomorans are aware of the situation, since this crisis happens to be in their backyard. As for the whole ecocide vote, it's going to probably sit there until those hippies in Roendavar give us something that League members would agree on. But, I feel as though I should head down and see if I can catch them, perhaps get more information to find out the full scale of it."

Altrecht inquired where other delegations where, and made her way to where currently the representative from Xenick was. She looked around a bit before spotting Xenick's president conversing with someone else, possibly one from the Keomora. She proceed over and introduced herself to the two indivduals. "Pardon if I'm interrupting anything here," Altrecht said, "but I have heard that a nation by the name of Xenick is facing an insurgency, and is in need of assistance. As for myself, I'm Colonel Claire Altrecht, I'm the new Head Delegate for the United Queendoms of Belantica."

Bob turned his head to greet Claire Altretch. Bob was caught off guard, never expecting for his pleas to be heard in such a productive way. Bob was pleased to have control of the conversation, and prepared to opt for a heavy intervention on the part of foreign players.
“Why hello Colonel! I cannot understate how pleased I am to see a man of your stature, who I assume is willing to be of some help…”
While Bob’s candied words may or may not be of substantial help, Xenick had identified Belantica as a powerful military force, and a possibly vital part of a coalition.
“Now, yes, we are in the grips of a serious insurgency. While that is the official name, the truth is, they are an organized and professional fighting force. A defeat that lost
3 major cities has been nothing less than catastrophic for our chances. However, hole remains, that hope is the international community. While our forces combat valiantly, anything from an intervention to material support would be a massive boon. Now tell me, why are you here? I understand that Belantica must have some sort of grasp of understanding on the situation, so I must ask if there is some words that you have for me and my acquaintance?”

As bob sat back, his mind raced on how to manage a coalition. He had begun a purge of incompetency in the army that was yielding massive, yet bloody results. The communists continued to push in on the government, capturing more mineral rich sites, and in hand with those gains, material, economic, and political leverage. If all failed, maybe a two state solution would have to come about. The communists were so eager to exact revenge for the oppression of the masses by the Corinthusi, that they were willing to turn guns on the government.

The tragedy, the irony.
The irony of it all…

Xenick, intrigued by the eagerness of Sylvania to aid Xenick, agrees to stage a meeting. A diplomat close to Bob Bobbi named Piter Parker had been selected to attend the meet accompanying the president.

The dynamic duo are dead set on managing to draw in as large an intervention as possible, and prepare to opt for maximum intervention force, to crush up all opposing force, which would be the safest option. The government in Xenick had already prepared for massive battle, and had begun amassing thousands of soldiers for the life and death struggle to come. Obviously, the Sylvanian party need be informed of this, as they were by the governments reasoning, most capable and willing to intervene in a large capacity, as Xenickese metal and mineral were no small fry.

Xenick has made the decision to hold the meet in the Sylvanian capital, to appease their intervening saviors. If conflict was not the strong suit of Xenick, a silver tongue fermented by centuries of negotiation with the Corinthusi slavers and mining moguls would most certainly be kf use.

When Xenick’s proposal for a meeting in the Sylvaynian capitol was received, Ambassador Yureii was surprised by their willingness. But they would be among the first international delegations to visit the city of Kaliskora, in its renewed and rebuilt form.

It took only an hour to receive a response from the minister of diplomacy: “His majesty invites them to the new royal palace to discuss terms in the proper manner for sovereigns.”

The remainder of the message was largely procedural, dictating the available dock and airport space for the presidential delegation.

This would also be the first time a sovereign leader had visited Sylvaynia officially in over 150 years. Long before even the old revolutionary usurper took power and the old Kraka dynasty fell. But now that the true and proper noble line had returned. King Zan-Veir Kraka saw no reason that he shouldn’t seek to return Sylvaynia’s old hegemony to the south seas. Xenick would merely be the first step, they just didn’t know it yet. Soon the south seas would once again fear the shadow of their banner on the horizon and the lands would be kept safe, these communists would have to die first.

"I'm not sure I'll ever get used to the nerves" Delegate Markus Koran muttered to himself as he entered the building adjusting his dark green tie for what felt like the thousandth time. Markus was a recent appointee by the Prime Minister himself to serve as a representative to the Western Isles. Young and inexperienced he has a perpetual air of appearing very frazzled and unsure of himself.

"Ah trust me soon enough it'll feel no different from walking into your own living room" Replied Delegate Neran Ferlo, clapping a hand onto Markus' shoulder and whispering into his ear
"I'd suggest you keep the self doubt inside your head while you're in these halls, whispers and mutterings have the oddest ability to carry to practically the other side of the room and the last thing anyone in this building should know is that you're nervous". Just as suddenly as the veteran delegates serious bearing had appeared it was replaced by his normal cheer and irreverence.
"Now let's make our way to where the true corridors of power are located..." he paused and turned to his colleague waiting for a response

"The council chambers?" Markus ventured a confused answer

"The bowling alley" Nerans face broke into a grin as he spun around and made his way through the halls with Markus in tow.

Outside the Palace of Nations, International City

Meanwhile, while the Assembly of the League has been discussing and voting on another resolution, Lesvan dissidents have started staging demonstrations outside the Palace of Nations in International City. During the demonstrations, the protesters have been waving the silver variant and the purple variant of the Lesvan national flag, while also waving banners that are against the Throngist leadership in Lesva and directly call out the League and even the League's Secretary-General Cirasephona Alfethis Refihhlia. The Lesvan dissident demonstrations are calling for the League to go after the leadership of the Throngist Republic of Lesva, which they call a dictatorship, demanding that the League pass a resolution condemning and sanctioning the Throngist leadership in Lesva, strip it of international recognition and isolating it, which would hopefully, according to the dissidents, lead to the Throngist leadership's eventual downfall.

The dissidents chanted:

"The League, support freedom in Lesva! Alfethis Refihhlia come out!"

A pitch black car with opaque windows sped down the road and parked near the Lauretian Embassy. The door of the car swung open and a portly man walked out, with another, tall man, wearing a black suit walking out behind him. The portly man was the Foreign Minister of Lauretia and the taller man was his bodyguard.

Dressed in traditional white uniforms, President Hugo Doblas and General Secretary Abhinav Kumar walked out of the International District's airport. They had clearly confused looks on their faces.

"Isn't this supposed to be a gathering place for the many leaders of our region?" asked Kumar, a slender, tall man of Indian descent, looking at his comrade.

"That's what we were told," Doblas, a stout, medium-height man of almost fully native Ferronesian blood, responded. "Since we landed, I haven't seen anyone that even remotely looks like a politician. I reckon that this place isn't as active as I thought it was."

THE WESTERN ISLES WINTER GALA 2022
Sponsored and Hosted by: The Democratic Republic of Keverai

A small envelope arrives at the table of every leader in the Western Isles. An invitation, to the region's most prestigious and affluent annual event that sees the most powerful people and representatives from all corners arrive and converse. The sun sets and the International District is bathed with the orange glow of sunlight as the winter winds cool and temper the weather. The international city rises above the island, usually choked in an austere and stiff atmosphere, is now alight with decorations and lights in anticipation of the event. Planes land, cars and vehicles of all designs hum and ply the roads, all with one destination in mind.

The Western Isles Winter Gala.

The Hall of International Peace opens its doors. Gourmet food and drink from all over the region are spread on lavish tables. The best of musicians play beneath luxuriant curtains and flora. Gilded silverware, plates, and glasses are on full display. Here, only the best that the region could offer are brought, served, and used.

Leaders from all over the Western Isles now arrive, the will of their nations carried on their shoulders. Will you make friends that would deepen connections between peoples, or will you finally confront enemies across the borders? Choices far too great to be decided by a single person, but curve it all the same.
