Serpens Land wrote:"Good evening to you both!" Victoria replied. She then looked in the direction of the Consul.
"I believe you'll have to wait until my father dies for you to call me that" she said jokingly. "It's just your highness for now. Not to worry though, it's an easy mistake to make."

Unsure of where to go next, she decided to go with the first topic that came to mind.
"I visited Solaryia once when I was much younger. I remember it being a very beautiful country" she said. "Have you ever visited Serpens Land?"

“Ah, my apologies your highness.” Jan replied, nodding his head. The Marshall internally bit his tongue, slightly frustrated at the mistake, although no one would’ve been able to see that on his expression.

“Jan, why don’t you and our lovely aids find our seats, and Princess Victoria and I can talk.” Conti propounded, to which the Foreign Marshall nodded, and left towards the groups of tables, followed by their two aids.

“Oh, you have? I hope you enjoyed yourself, the coastline and mountains are particularly nice during the summer. And I sadly haven’t yet visited Serpen’s Land, although it seems like a stunning nation. It’s on the list of nations I’m visiting on my international trip to the North Mesder area. Do you have any recommendations for places in your nation for me to go to in my spare time?” The Consul asked, starting to relax as she mingled. This was far better then the stress of having to deal with the reporters outside their hotel and the Hall.

While League Ambassador Izasso and Deputy Chief Tumi were circulating with glasses in hand, Vice President Lafrenz identified the Estral Consul Zirilo Arsua easily enough. Naturally, the flags, dignitaries, and goings-on of nations closer to Martenyika were of much greater concern to the new Vice President. It was as good an opportunity to approach as any, considering that he appeared to be unoccupied.

"Bonsoir monsieur, Good evening Consul Arsua. Vice President Amelie Lafrenz of Martenyika--" Amelie almost died for a moment thinking she'd pronounced it Arusa once again like in her VP transition briefs, but continued on--"we're both far from our home countries, but it is nice seeing another from the lower latitudes of Argus. I hope the flight went well?"

Aaron Gerslin remained in conversation with his aides, noticing that almost everyone was already talking to someone from another country- that didn’t bother him all too much, he was sure more people were on their way.

Reathwood Foreign Minister Cadwall Wessom, accompanied by his wife and diplomatic partner Tova, arrived somewhat late to the gala. Unwilling to be caught flat-flooted, however, Cadwall sets his sight on the Ahnslen foreign minister and, as if it had been his aim all along, approaches him with a sense of purpose. Tova fades into the periphery, covering more ground on behalf of the two-man Reathwood delegation. Cadwall, the foreign minister for his country for several years, had recognized Gerslin instantly. Ainslie, a fellow liberal democracy and a developed northern state, would make for a fine beginning to an evening of long conversations.

"Minister Gerslin," Cadwall opens politely, "it is well to see you once more. I must, firstly, offer my personal condolences for the recent tragedy of Flight 417—we in Reathwood have been truly moved by the events of the last two weeks, and I have not yet personally expressed my commiseration."

Though we have discussed non-aggression pacts and trade agreements with other alliances, such as the G4. Speaking of which, my Ministry is currently looking into getting Biaten into the G4, would this be something Roendavar would support?

"I see... then let us hope that this region stays stable for the next years. If it does not, perhaps we can count on the Western Isles Democratic Alliance to help those in need? Will it not?" Faunus suggested, emphasising on the need. "As for the Gael Four, Roendavar would gladly support Biatenian membership. It is important that the nations of Gael stand in solidarity in mutual cooperation, good, and defense. Biaten's inclusion in the Gael Four will surely bring more prosperity to our region." The Roendavarian monarch smiled. I got the answer that I need.

"I shall ask my athracai to keep me posted when Biaten will submit its application in the Gael Four and I will personally call upon our delegate to support you." Faunus promised. This I can definitely keep. He thought, remembering how resistant the government was to his ideas. "If you will excuse me, I have other guests that I have to attend to. I hope you all have a lovely evening and please do enjoy the Gala." Faunus excused himself as he proceeded to walk to the center of the Hall in case there are any other guests that would like to chat with him.

"Did you like their answer?" Sylvanus asked, now positioning himself in front of Faunus.
"Perhaps? I cannot be too direct in what I ask of them." Faunus shrugged at Sylvanus. In any other time, he could be as direct as he want. Not when he is surveying other representatives from other countries.
"No 'Will you help us if violence breaks out in Roendavar'?"
"On second thought, I should have just asked that." Sylvanus sighed, checking all his jewelry if they were still in order in case someone important approaches him.

Cadwall gives a grateful nod at the mention of Reathwood and the weakened and hurting—President Elvewer has increasingly championed a foreign policy that uncompromisingly defends Reathwood's own interests and morals but sustains an enduring warmth for any other free people. The policy was partly derived from an essay of Cadwall's own writing.

"My country, fortunately, fares well. Each week brings something new—our legislature is now tangling with monopolies—but our growth seems well and disturbances are few."

He pauses for a moment, apparently looking for a way to phrase his thoughts on Atolla.

"The Republic of Reathwood invests itself strongly in Atolla. We hold democracy—the right to choose—very dear, and keeping that right sacred in Atolla has become a very popular issue in my homeland. It is, indeed, a fledgling democracy, and I strongly believe that with a firm guiding hand—a moral anchor—its roots will grow deep and its democratic tradition will grow steady."

He fixes Aaron with an interested look.

"I must, however, ask for a perspective of yours in turn. The world watches as Gael finds itself in fresh conflict—have you or your government developed any opinion on the events around the Faronna Islands? Though we in Reathwood find ourselves disturbed by the conflict, it is a much nearer issue to Ainslie than it yet is to us."

"That's a shame - you'd hope there'd at least be a bit of snow. Sounds like it's just like Arborai - thankfully I didn't grow up there... all it is there is windy and rainy..."

"And yes, Lee. Feel free to call me Calllum, as well."

"So, Lee.How are you enjoying the night so far? Have you been able to catch up with anyone else?", Callum asked. He then continued a bit.

"Your nation was formerly part of Serpens Land right? How does that work out - what's the relationship between your two nations these days - especially in defence, delivering government services and foreign affairs?"

"The night's been interesting so far." Lee began, trying to pivot away from discussing the events of the evening. "As for Serpens Land, we share a king and that's about it."

"Not to imply that we aren't allies. For all intents and purposes our nations are two sovereign entities. His majesty's powers are far more limited in Westmoor's constitution than they are in Serpens Land, though he what powers he has over both nations are only expected to be exercised during crises."

A waiter passed by Lee carrying glasses of champagne on a platter. Lee politely motioned to the waiter and grabbed a glass before placing a tip on the platter.

"Westmoor governs herself and defends herself and we are proud of that fact. Care for a drink?"

The Annual Gala | Gerslin and Wessom (Ainslie and Reathwood) Pt. 2
After 6pm, International District

Dealing with monopolies, now that’s something we’re pretty used to in Ainslie. Thankfully, most of our businesses by now play by the rules… not sure whether it’s out of respect, or fear, or both…

As for the Faronna Islands, it is particularly unnerving that Balnik - a nation with a history that makes this recent move particularly suspicious has moved to exploit it for energy stability goals. It’s difficult to see why they can’t invest in renewables or build up their energy infrastructure in order to deal with the shortfalling. It would just be so much easier if they went down the sustainability path - for all of us.

The International Court of Justice doesn’t seem capable to solve this, and the League would lack the enforcement to deal with the issue - regardless, Gaelitic nations like to handle things themselves. I imagine at some point in the near future, the Gael Four will be activated to thwart the threat however we do not yet know at what level Ainslie would be involved.

It does not look good though. If history tells it, the armies of Gael may be mobilised once again.
”, Aaron said in reply to the Foreign Minister.

“As for your troublesome businesses, if your government would be amenable, some of your regulators could come down to Arnton to meet ours. From there, they can discuss leading methodologies and techniques in order to ensure businesses contribute to the strength and solidarity of a nation’s values rather than erode it by blindly following a profit motive.”, he continued.

The Annual Gala | Parkes and Nyugen (Ainslie and Westmoor) Pt. 2
After 6pm, International District

“Yes, thank you”, Callum said as he accepted the glass the Foreign Minister was holding out.”

He had a sip of the wine and then continued.

Actually, I wanted to talk a bit more about how that alliance works - if you don’t mind me asking, what kinds of areas do your two nations collaborate and help each other in? Does it extend to defence? Is Westmoor typically friendly with the same sorts of nations that Serpens Land is with just by the fact you’re allies - or because of shared values?

My nation is quite interested in having a partner in the northwest and having a gist for how close Westmoor and Serpens Land are diplomatically would help us greatly in tailoring our approach to building relations with the nations.

. . .

Though Cadwall listens to the talk of Gael's state with solemnity, at Aaron's last lines he inclines his head slightly with an approving smile.

"A superb idea, Aaron. In the past, businesses in my country seemed to have a tradition of working hand-in-hand with our government—over the last few years, however, I feel that profit has blinded them. I must speak to the regulatory agencies, but I would be happy to help arrange a meeting in Arnton—I know that Elvewer would be pleased to have all the help he can get in managing the corporations."

He glances around, seeming to ascertain a few more potential conversations to have.

"This is quite an assembly—it isn't a common thing to have so many big names together so cordially. There are a few discussions I must have, but it's been a pleasure to speak to you. We in Reathwood will watch the unfolding situation in Gael, and we hope nothing will come of it. Oh, but more importantly—"

He chuckles warmly.

"Good luck at the Isles Cup. Our boys aren't international stars, but we hope they'll put up a fight."

"Something of a necessary evil I suppose," Amelie nodded in sympathy when the Consul mentioned long flights. She may not have come the furthest compared to other nations, or maybe so, she wasn't sure, but it certainly was a drag. The Vice President then glanced around the room as he spoke about the Gala itself and the issue far to the north of Martenyika.

"Perhaps. Some nations in the region seem to think that the Roendavarians are being antagonized to war--but I was under the impression they don't have an active military. Perhaps you know more than I do, Consul?"

Meanwhile, Simone Tumi took advantage of an opening to speak with Ainslie's Foreign Minister Aaron Gerslin. She had recently acquired a glass of wine, and transitioned it to her left hand so that she would be capable of shaking the minister's hand.

"Greetings sir, Simone Tumi, Deputy Chief of Martenyikan Foreign Affairs. I am sorry to begin on such a tragic note, but the Minister wanted to make sure I offered our condolences for the loss of Flight 417. All Martenyika prayed for those lost, and their families. I am sure the people of Ainslie will excel past this."

Biaten wrote:"Yes, of course. Thank you so much." After King Faunus walks away, the Minister looks around for other representatives to speak to while resisting the temptation of Roendavarian wine.

General Ambassi and League Ambassador Izasso were having a brief discussion amongst themselves, but as the point of an event such as the Gala was to speak with other foreign officials, they decided to part ways. The General spotted the Biatenian Minister not too far away.

"Hello Monsieur," Jordan greeted the Minister as he held out his hand, "it is a pleasure to see another nation representing our Democratic Alliance. I am General Jordan Ambassi of the Martenyikan Air Force. Have you seen any delegation from Littolyo, by chance? It seems to just be us two and Reathwood tonight."

"A necessary evil indeed." The consul's voice got a bit lower than the pitch he had put himself at for the gala, "I don't believe anyone is as innocent as they may claim to be. Especially not when money or power are involved. Aizcona keeps an ear to the ground, be wary of where your allegiances fall when conflict arises, friends may be as willing to lead you to death as your enemies are willing to give it to you."

The consul looked into Amelie's eyes, "I'd give you two pieces of advice, leader to leader, neighbor to neighbor. Remember your neighbors, the world is big enough that we may forget those we lay our heads near and beware of snakes in large groups. I believe there are two phrases that may do you well in the navigation of your nation; In a group of three, the other two will conspire against you. And, beware of preachers and prophets, those clinging to light may try to hide their shadow." As he concluded his words Zirilio gave a smile that was warm, "I do hope that we can become better neighbors, I believe that Aizcona and Martenyika may not have appreciated that so much in the past, as I would like it to be appreciated in the present and future."

"Westmoor and Serpens Land are close but we're two very different nations at heart...we're a lot like siblings. It isn't a stretch to say we share values where it matters, values I assure you we share with you Ahnslens."

"Now, if you don't mind me asking, is your nation at all concerned with the way we govern ours? Excuse me if I sound blunt but I do have a vested interest in protecting Westmoor from external interference. Our nation is fully capable of supporting itself without any care packages or aid."

Solaryia wrote:“Ah, my apologies your highness.” Jan replied, nodding his head.

"I'd recommend visiting Northland. It's quite pretty up there, especially with all the mountains" Victoria responded. She somewhat regretted bringing herself into this topic, as she had no intention of talking about geography the whole time. In an effort to sway the conversation she spoke again before the Consol could reply.
"So how are things going in Solaryia at the moment? Up in Serpens Land, we haven't really heard much from your nation."

Aizcona wrote:"A necessary evil indeed." The consul's voice got a bit lower than the pitch he had put himself at for the gala, "I don't believe anyone is as innocent as they may claim to be.

"I see, sir, well perhaps there is some built up angst from the past administration, but I assure you that President Zubele would be more than willing to work out this misunderstanding with you in the near future. Now, if this is all because there's been a particular issue with the way our ambassador has been conducting affairs in your nation, then I encourage you to send those along to our Foreign Affairs Ministry. If I may Consul," Amelie gave a curtsy and stepped away into the crowd.

Amelie took a glass of wine and sipped from it while seeing who else she could talk to.

The consul nodded his head and then felt his wife tap him on the shoulder handing him his coffee, "Thank you dear."

He took a sip from it as she asked him about the Martenyikan. He sighed, a bit insulted, "Curt it would seem, and I don't believe she got my message, or at the very least she's cunning enough to not let it be known that she understood. Although I doubt that. This WIDA organization is probably going to be a thorn in our sides and with it taking a root in South Argus, I'm not pleased, nor are many back home."

He then laughed and said, "Although she did mention angst which makes me feel like a teenager, I guess my prose went a bit above what was intended." His wife giggled at that, "You did look better back then, less wrinkles and gray hairs flecked in." Zirilio fake scoffed at his wife, "Ah! How could I get stuck with such a mean wife!" His wife playfully hit him at that.

After that Zirilio laughed again and drank some more of his coffee, "Let us see what else the night has in store. I'm sure there's bound to be some interesting stuff to learn, although hopefully the conversations will last a little bit longer."

The Annual Gala | Parkes and Nyugen (Ainslie and Westmoor) Pt. 3
After 6pm, International District

Parkes listened keenly as the Foreign Minister spoke, smiling when he heard about the closeness of Serpens Land and Westmoor. It would make things a lot easier in the northwest - he could tell Gerslin that they had the all clear to pursue relationships on a level of Ainslie-SL-Westmoor rather than bilateral between the three nations. However, his face grew severe after hearing the question posed by the Minister - one which forced a response from Parkes.

"Not at all! No way! We are not the ones you have to worry about as far as external interference goes.

We are well aware that your nation is capable of supporting itself and prospering on its own.

Rather, we were asking so we can better engage with the northwestern corridor. For example, instead of merely having discussions between Serpens Land and Ainslie, we would make it so there's three seats at that discussion - one for Serpens Land, one for Westmoor and one for Ainslie. My understanding now is that your nation doesn't hide a lot from Serpens Land and vice versa. I was interested in seeing whether it was both practical and ideal for the Ahnslen Government to engage both of your nations at the same time rather than one at a time."

After 6pm, International District

Aaron shook the Martenyika's hand and then listened to what she was saying before replying.

"Hello Madarne. It's been a tough time for Ainslie no doubt, but yes, you are correct - we have seen great resilience and solidarity during this time. Perhaps they are the outcome of your faithful prayers.", Gerslin said in a quite solemn tone before lightening up his expression a bit more.

"So, Madarne Tumi, what can I do for you", he said with a pleasant smile.

Forgive, my wife Cedar, the remark was from a political cartoon from the Noronnican Civil War. Victor looked at Edyth who smiled innocently at her husband. As far as the French, I’m not sure where my tutor was from, when my parents were killed my grandfather, the King, put me on a rigorous education program to train me to replace him. I speak five languages fluently and can understand three more, Grandpaw wanted me to be a Renaissance man with knowledge in as wide a number of subjects as possible. Now President Dyson Victor switched to a formal address, His Majesty King Harold and members of the government wanted me to discuss Kachee with you. I won’t admit we made a mistake in supporting the rebellious cabinet of the Sultan, but there may have been an error in judgment. In a more formal setting the Kingdom of Wellsia would like to open talks with the United Republics and your proxy French Charbagnia about Wellsia turning over the protection of the Kachee people to you. Wellsia needs fuel, coal we have in plenty, oil not so much. It is hopeful that a deal can be made to purchase Charbagnian oil in return for Kachee. We have had our differences in the past, but Wellsia can be a good and helpful friend, especially with the difficulties arising from the Faronna Islands. If you are interested, I’m to take the news back with me to Eddoras.

Lee's face relaxed at Parkes' response.

"I didn't wish to imply anything, forgive me. And yes, I feel that would be appropriate. I imagine almost anything proposed by Ainslie both Serpens Land and Westmoor would be on board with. As long as its reasonable, of course."

"I also don't want to imply that Westmoor's completely closed off to foreign cooperation. At the end of the day I believe that Westmoorish problems require Westmoorish solutions, though a little outside help never hurt."

Martenyika wrote:"Hello Monsieur," Jordan greeted the Minister as he held out his hand, "it is a pleasure to see another nation representing our Democratic Alliance. I am General Jordan Ambassi of the Martenyikan Air Force. Have you seen any delegation from Littolyo, by chance? It seems to just be us two and Reathwood tonight."

Minister Eldridge shakes the General's hand. "Good evening General. No, unfortunately there is no sign of anyone from Littolyo, or Ioudaia or Domanania for that matter. I was just speaking with the Roendavarian King Faunus, he seemed quite interested in our alliance."

Renaut watched as a man who was clearly Segentovan wandered closer to him. Soon enough he recognised him as their foreign minister, although he didn't remember the guy's name. Nevertheless, Renaut started the conversation.

"Ah, bonjour! Good to see you here. Do you come with an agenda, in good faith, or both?"

Renaut then straightened his jacket, adjusted his tie and quietly took a deep breath in an attempt to compose himself after his encounter with the Aizconan before the Segentovan's reply.

Jàcome smiled as he shook the man's hand "Ah, president Renaut, The name is Jacome d'Orey et Avignon III, I come in good faith. I am the minister of foreign affairs of the Republic of Segentova." He noticed president Renaut tidying up his suit, trying to not make the obviously flustered man too self-conscious he looked briefly into the distance while waiting, contemplating his next action. "Tough going, huh?" he asked, speaking in a somewhat humored tone, trying to lighten the mood of the situation. "Anyway, may I offer you a glass of wine?" Upon hearing the Segentovan's question, Renaut eased up a bit, this encounter already a much more cordial tone than the previous one. Not that the foreign minister was any intimidating figure, he was a little on the short side, somewhat portly, and had a full beard that would look more in-place on a man who was at least 20 years older than the one actually standing in front of him. He happily accepted the offer, upon which Jàcome called out to a waiter, whereupon he exchanged hi, by now empty glass for two full ones, handing one of them to the president.

I hope the project isn't causing too much commotion? He took a sip of the wine, pondering how to continue, swirling the glass as he thought. Yes, I absolutely agree with your point that the merger of institutions would be advantageous, after all, part of AFIO's purpose will be to encourage strengthening cultural ties and understanding between member nations. He took another sip of wine, he thought to himself how it tasted different than the wine at home. I don't think it would be very advantageous for parallel institutions to exist within the Association. But, I can say my government would likely be a bit more apprehensive towards extended mission statement for the Association. What matters first and foremost is that we establish the organization, Too much talk about it could turn out to be a bit divisive at this critical time, don't you think? As he finished speaking, Pierre had another sip of the wine, while awaiting president Dysons response.

Dyson took another drink of his own wine in turn before responding, "That is unfortunately true. I fear the United Republics has been caught in yet another hard situation as Balnik continues to escalate problems over Faronna. Sooner or later, alongside all this talk of cults in Roendavar, is going to end in bloodshed, something that I fear will drag my nation into a far longer conflict than anything we've done in Arvan or San Javier. But," he exclaimed, taking another sip of his wine, "It's probably best not to worry for the future. Please, don't let me hold you up for the rest of the night, enjoy yourself Mr. Delacroix!" raising his glass in a toast before walking back to the reserved tables.

"Oh, don't worry, I always enjoy a good conversation with a fellow head of state." Pierre also raised his glass in a toast. As he walked away from where the two had been standing, he had a good feeling about the evening and the gala. Cedar Dyson had left a good impression on him, and he had seen the Alteran Strate3gos, Ryansan arrive at the gala, maybe he should be paid a visit. Altera had, after all, been Segentova's closest ally since the Imperial War. But nevermind, for now, he thought he might see about his wife, and the rest of the delegation, of course. He took his time, savoring the ambiance of the room.

Segentova wrote:Bonsoir, Mademoiselle Vilar. I am Temperance Delacroix, the first lady of Segentova. We're very pleased to meet you. Allow me to introduce you to our delegation. She paused for a bit, getting the lay of the land and trying to make out where the remaining members of the delegation had gone off to. I assume you've met Pierre, my husband? She then gestured to Josephine, who was standing right next to her Over here we have Josephine d'Orey et Avignon, The wife of our minister of foreign affairs, Jàcome d'Orey et Avignon III. She pointed him out while he was greeting president Renaut. And lastly Hugo Poullain, our ambassador to the league, and his wife Jacqueline, they just went for a little walk, but I'm sure they'll be back any minute now.. She could see the young woman seemed a bit uneasy, so she decided to ask her if she would like a glass of wine. Sylvia accepted the offer with a smile, after which Temperance called out to one of the wait-staff handing out drinks. She took the glass from him and handed it over to sylvia.

Sylvia's mind quickly eased back when Temprance offered the wine, safe in the knowledge that she wasn't an embarrassment tonight so far. She subsequently gave her greetings to the remaining Segentovans before having a drink of her wine, joining in on the small talk the other guests were engaged in whenever she could.

Temperance suddenly felt the tap of a hand on her shoulder "Bonjour madame." she recognized the voice instantly, it was Pierre. She reciprocated with a playful "Bonjour, monsieur.", which they both had a brief laugh over. He then turned to inquire about the topic of discussion from the women. The answer, how Sylvia met the President. He waited for the telling of the story to finish before turning to his wife, "They really put a lot of care into organizing this event, don't you think? I way we go pay our hosts a visit and congratulate them on a successful gala." Temperance had a sip of her wine and went on to answer "Oh, they absolutely did. That's a great idea, Pierre. And don't forget, the Roendavarian king is coming on that state-visit soon, maybe we should talk to him about it?" They then excused themselves from the group and went on to look for their host.
