My goal is to focus on developing Renet into an economic and military powerhouse.

Historically, Renet was divided into two kingdoms, one known as North Renet and South Renet. The two kingdoms were united in 1870 as the Empire of Renet. The Renetian Empire rapidly industralized and modernized its military, obtaining colonies by 1880 and crushing any internal dissent without pity or remorse. The Golden Age lasted until 1913, when Renet launched its wars of expansion. While initally successful, the Empire of Renet was ulimately defeated and collapsed in 1919, having united its neighbors against them. The Republic of Renet was then born, and has since become known for its stalwart adherence to personal freedoms and civil liberties.

The Holy Serpentian Empire is a state of religion (predominantly Christianity), state socialism, traditionalist conservatism and environmentalism; having pursued a policy of isolation from the outside world in the 1960s, she has a uniquely antiquated culture (most closely resembling British culture from the early to mid-20ᵗʰ century) and retroistic science and technology (being steampunk/dieselpunk-esque), in addition to possessing biodiverse ecosystems (her colourful coral reefs are her most famous environmental feature).

Serpentia is a unitary parliamentary semi-constitutional monarchy, with Empress Nereida III as her Head of State and Imperial Chancellor Sunniva (Serpentians don't have surnames) as her Head of Government; her most senior legislative, judicial, and executive body is the Governing Senate, which (excluding the Empress and Imperial Chancellor) consists of the leaders of the dominant political parties (the more industry/defence-focused Matilda, the more healthcare/education-focused Meraud, and the more spirituality/environment-focused Guinevere, who was also the former Imperial Chancellor). Connections with the outside world are re-established with the abolition of the Isolationism Act 1969 in 2022.

For role-playing, I guess that I'd be most interested in... diplomatic relations? Well, I'm certainly not interested in doing any fighting, unless the fighting is with a nation using pre-modern combat weapons (I've never been interested in military tactics beyond WWII).

Hello!

I am seeking an ally to help the Orwell Society grow IC. My nation is a fresh-out-of-the-isolationist-policy, imperialist, socialist, authoritarian dictatorship loosely based off of Oceania from 1984 and the nation from Brave New World, but with some realistic nods to North Korea and pre-collapse Soviet Union and Italy.

The Society has a thriving (but not perfect) economy with a very large arms industry and an abundance in metal ore (especially titanium, steel, and tungsten), rare metals (like plutonium and uranium), and natural gas, oil, and coal (which is in reserve and ready to sell due to the fact that is used very little today). We will sell to anyone as long as they aren't our enemies, democracy or not.

The Orwellian military has recently skyrocketed in size, funding, and power - under new leadership, a imperialist (but suprisingly diplomatic, as well) militarized foreign policy has been adopted in place of the old isolationist one that has been going on since the beginning.

Speaking of history, I have a little already-canon details to share:

The Society was founded in 1642 by Sir George Orwell (sorry, couldn't think of a better name ) when him and a hastly thrown-together force of fighters tore down any trace of previously-implemented authority (which was very little, the lands were complete anarchy) and established a central government to rule over the once independant villages in the middle of the island. Soon, they reorganized and started advancing outwards, laying seige upon village after village, settlement after settlement, slaughtering all who didn't agree to follow them. By 1666, Orwell's forces had already increased in size tenfold and finished off the last of the dissenters.

Yes, there was much conflict after that, and Orwell only lived until1669 when he died of old age and his sone took over. For centuries, the Society gradually developed into two things: the government, who's people lived relatively unoppressed and well-educated; and the general populace, who lived knowing only what the government wanted them to know and had only the rights the government wanted them to have.

A new language began development in the early 1900s called Newspeak. Newspeak is an extremely simplified version of English (both American and British) and Latin. Basically, it was created to prevent people from opposing the Party by simplifying communication and controlling what people can think and can't think - but progress is very slow.

Anyway, as stated before, I need help. Not just IC help, but OOC help as well. I need some other nations to help expand my nation's history and plan for future roleplays. So, who wants to help make TWI's new villain great?

Welcome one and all to my proposed security conference and expo to be hosted on the ID IC thread at the end of next week. I've thought about using this as a setup for the opening of Terror Over Gael and figured I may as well open the doors for a region-wide open RP in an interesting field. This is open to all regional members, not just those on a map (although I highly suggest anybody who is joining this and is not on the map yet to apply as soon as possible) and I am welcoming ideas on where to take this. For the moment, I have the opening keynote speech set and I'll have a schedule here for other events, presentations, or speeches by anybody in your nation's security sphere; from national leaders to military officers, police, cybersecurity experts, defense and security industry representatives, and almost anything else in between.
