A Nautical Nation

Postby The Imperial Austrian Fleet » Fri Feb 24, 2017 11:44 pm

I am still working out the logistics of an entirely maritime civilization, but so far, my factbooks that I have made kind of give a sense of the direction I want to take. My aim, as a country, is to construct a self-sustaining and formidable naval menace, that imperiously plagues the seas of enemy regions, and defends allies from naval invasion. My population is 100% military staff, the entirety of the Austro-Hungarian kriegsmarine corps and their families. This mass conglomeration of ships is virtually unstoppable, as rather than operating like a conventional navy, the place we defend is already at sea, and it has cannons longer than a school bus.
Our government is made up of a council of admirals, and, since Emperor Otto I is 6 years old, Kaiserin Zita serves as head of State and Church. The official religion is Roman-Catholicism, though there is no religious persecution by the state, and other religious affiliates are allowed citizenship. We stand by to await orders from the leader of The Western Isles.

After 15 hours of work I finished my history dispatch which was a lot of fun to make. I'm looking for anyone who has the patience to read it and wants to connect their nation to mine in any point of history to do so. Especially easy links would be having my mercenary army fighting in your war any time from 1600-1850. But I'm up for anything so just contact me if you have any idea; this would give us more reason to interact in the present. https://www.nationstates.net/page=dispatch/id=778275

Hello,
My nation is Shirotora (meaning white tiger), tigers being my favorite animal. I love writing, reading, and watching far too much Netflix than is probably healthy. My favorite food is penne diavolo (that means penne in this amazing spicy sauce), and it's closely followed by anything else spicy. I have a tendency to rattle on, but my saving grace is this lovely sense of sarcasm to accompany my ramblings.
I've been very busy with life recently, so my nation and my region fell apart.I came back recently and saw that this nation had no off-site communication which appealed to me. I've been attempting to build a nation that is strong, but allows for freedom in its citizens personal lives. I've never tried RP but am interested.
Hope that you made it to the end of the post without falling asleep.

Sincerely,
The Queendom of Shirotora

Hello, I'm a bit new here and I'm looking to get to know my neighbors a bit better and to maybe set up trade with someone, any help?
The woods are lovely,
dark and deep.
But I have promises
To keep, and miles
to go before I sleep.

Hello, i'm new here and I want my nation to be a nation of dignified and not corrupt people. My nation prioritizes the environment and welfare, but we also spend a lot of money on health care, education and infrastructure. Our politicians need to follow a strict code of conduct which ensures that they are dignified and non-corrupt.
Our government is split up into seven regions, all of which have a large amount of power. The main government just sets main policy and laws, and makes sure that no civil wars or diplomatic unrest happens.
Our main exports are potato's and corn, along with vast amounts of vegetables which are less prominent in the exports.
We are aiming to trade peacefully and work with other nations to make TWI a better place.

My nation is a tiny, barren isolated island renowned for it's low tax rates and minuscule government. Our climate is unmercifully hot, especially in the desert. We have a thriving gambling industry but not much else. :) My nation's people are very isolationist, but I'm hoping to start getting more involved in international affairs.

Firstly, I am a new player.

I am a fragile, aristocratic nation that has not gotten over the Reformation or the Hundred Years War, with high ethnic (Anglo-Franco-Dutch) and religious (Catholic-Protestant) tensions and a semi-sovereign area nominally under Jesuit control. Though I am interested in expanding, my military fluctuates in quality. Sometimes the army is good, and other times, disgraceful. Aircraft tend to be of poor quality. Only the navy escapes dilapidation, as it is constantly modernised, both for political and militaristic ends. Revolts are infrequent enough to prevent instability, but the country is a case of vodka in a cooler of gunpowder.

The primary rationale for expansion is wealth, glory, and pacification. Wealth enriches the nation, glory allows for more nobility, hopefully in favour of the monarchy, and pacification is provided by the death or wounds of the firebrands who would cause trouble if they were not conscripted.

The nation is very open as far as trading goes, even to the point of ignoring trade with belligerents in times of war! Of course, the nobility does hold a great deal of power, making trade viable in some areas and subject to heavy fines in others. Smuggling is culturally acceptable.

The government is headed by a king, who is advised by the Peers of the Realm, all of whom are dukes. There is a house of Lords, with the Counts and other minor nobility, as well as the House of the Jesuits. The executive branch consists of the Commissaire of the Budget, the Department of War (a nobleman, always), a Treasurer, an Admiralty, and a Public Works ministry.

The only consistency across all people in my land is that at any given time only 10% will support foreign forces, and even then, the general mistrust will assert itself and within six months scarcely any will support a hypothetical invader. The most successful invasions (other than the English), involved establishing puppet government. Foreign armies are generally hated.

The islands are normally rocky with pines and furs dominating the plants. The region is rather mountainous, though the valleys are fertile and occasionally deciduous. Some areas near the coast are wide plains, but these, though vast, are few.

Hey guys, I first founded a nation in early 2014 (damn it's been 3 years) and have been on and off. This is my latest time coming on and I intend to stay on this time.

Below is a quick biography of Somstratzka (This can also be found in a factbook)

Overview

Somstratzka is a nation known for it's booming economy due to the large amounts of ports that dot the coastlines as well as the vast oil and palm oil reserves the land has. Somstratzka is fairly self reliant however often creates bilateral ties with many nations. The current Prime Minister is Dominick Lim and the Capital City is Swanstad. Somstratzka is known for being a very hot and humid environment with 2 seasons of wet and dry.

Backstory

Founded in 1827, previously known as two separate ancient nations known as Palatena and Xia Men Li, it was inhabited by two distinct races namely the Melayu (Malay) and the Zhong (Chinese). These two nations rarely clashed before 1793 when Islamic scholars began to spread Islamic values in Palatena. The sudden friction in religion between Islam and Gu Hao (Sort of like Buddhism) caused a large scale war which ended with a peace treaty that unified the two nations. Today very few remains of such friction are evident as people's attitudes seemed to have reverted to pre-1793 ideas. However, the peace can be unstable as shown by riots every few years.

Geography

Swanstad: Swanstad is the Capital City of Somstratzka and is home to one of the largest ports worldwide. It is the economic hub of Somstratzka where people of various different ethnicities, nationalities and religions reside. It has a population of about 12 million residents is the most heavily populated city in Somstratzka

Geylor: Geylor is known for being home to not only another large port, but the home of the Somstratzkan Navy. It also is home to the largest water village in the world, off the eastern shores. Geylor is also heavily populated sitting at around 7 million residents and is the second most populated city in the nation.

Nyonji: Previously the Capital City of Xia Men Li, the demographic is 80 percent Zhong. The city is known as home to many pharmaceutical and technological companies and is often the hub of Somstratzkan medicinal and technological advancement. It is also home to the Somstratzkan Air Force. It is the third most populated city in the nation.

Kelenang: Previously the Capital City of Palatena, the demographic is about 70 percent Melayu. The city is known for it's vast areas of country and is home to most of Somstratzka's food production. It is also known for being the home for majority of Somstratzka's land forces. It is the fourth most populated city in the nation.

Pasara: Pasara is known for being an oil town. Surrounded by a large amount of oil fields, Pasara is where the majority of Somstratzka's oil supply is extracted and refined. It is the fifth most populated city in the nation.

Military

[align=center]The Somstratzkan military has a renowned Navy as well as Air Force however doesn't have the strongest land forces due to the vast sums of funding that go int the Navy (Due to the mass amounts of ports) and Air Force (Due to much technological advancement). The figures as of 4th April 2017 are:

Navy:
1 Aircraft Carrier - Manufactured and Purchased 2015
7 Destroyers - Manufactured in 2014, Purchased in 2015
8 Submarines - Manufactured and Purchased in 2015

I am a small nation with a large focus on the environment. There is a significant wish by industry to construct a series of canals through various lakes for shipping lanes, however ministers are far from enthusiastic about the idea. I would assume the identity of an environment minister from Glacius (my nation).

Anyone want to have an RP discussion about this? I presume there may be some international interest (i.e. from other nations in the region) to create a canal network. Perhaps a trade alliance deal could be part of it - my ministers may be more warm to the idea if there are trade/financial incentives. Perhaps use of the canal network could be restricted solely to members of a trade alliance?

I'll bring it up at the CU leader summit, it could be a brilliant test case of the unions stance to third party relations. There's plausible motive being you have member nations both north and south, as well as easterly-ish.

I could possibly be interested. Especially if it means getting more nations to align themselves with the MSTO.

Modern Templar rule here. As we area religious people we tend not to accept the drama many other countries have. Independent and xenophobic. Trade with our people can be very tricky at times. Our university system places a lot of weight in the medical fields and sciences. Our life span has been rising well over 80 human years old, 90 to 100 is common. Older citizens are held in high esteem.

Giffland military units are small and effective most of the time, However many upgrades are taking place at the current time.

Introduction Of Diplomatic Farbe

Postby Diplomatic Farbe » Thu May 18, 2017 7:53 pm

Hey there. i'm just introducing myself, and anyway- to the point. i am a small, (due to low military), anti-green pro-economy nation with a capable police force and a considerable Education system. i just moved from another region (which was my own) that had 0 members. i missed talking to all my allies, so i browsed the tag cloud, and found this region in "space".

P.S. I have never told this to anyone before, :meh: but im just ten years old. so now you know the secret, and don't judge me for my age, please. :(
