World Hit Festival 29 - Vodiznad, Izmedu | OOC

Postby Kalosia » Mon Nov 21, 2016 3:50 pm

After a second consecutive Arioslavian victory, Izmedu's efforts in the World Hit Festival finally paid off... by being the runner-up 3 editions in a row.

About + How It Works
The World Hit Festival (WHF) is a song competition. Each participating nation may enter 1 song and artist into the contest, and it will be performed. Lyrics must be written by the user, thus no instrumental songs are allowed. Users may enter up to 2 more puppet nations, adding to a total of 3 overall.
Later, each nation must vote for their favourites by giving 5 points to their favourite song, 4 points to their 2nd favourite, and so on. Nations are only allowed to get a maximum of 8 points from the user's puppets (meaning that, Nation 1 can receive 4 points from Nation 2 and Nation 3 each, if all 3 nations belong to the same user. Nations 2 and 3 can still receive points from each other.)
Votes are to be submitted by telegram to the host country, who will publish them. Afterwards, a winner will be announced and the current edition of the WHF will end, and signups for the next WHF will be opened.

[OUTDATED] Here is a statistical database of participants in WHF history, and here is a list of every World Hit Festival ever, along with links to the IC and OOC threads.

For the contest, 3 threads will be opened. The first is the Signups/OOC thread, this one. The second is known as a Draft Thread. You will post your performances here. The final one is the IC thread. The host will copy your performances from the Draft Thread. You will be able to post commentary there.

You can use the most recent World Hit Festival (WHF28) as a reference. Still, feel free to ask questions!

Schedule
Draft thread opens: December 4/5, 5:00am GMT
Signups close: December 11/12, 5:00am GMT
Draft thread (entry posting) closes, IC thread up: December 18/19, 5:00am GMT
Voting deadline: December 25/26, 5:00PM GMT
Voting announcement (results): by January 1; final results and winner will be known by New Year's

Signing up
To sign up, fill the form below. You do not have to have a complete initial sign-up. A post saying that you'll participate is okay, but you'll have to complete the rest eventually. If you want to have a national final, feel free to post it in this thread.
Code: Select all
[box]Nation:
Broadcaster:

Song Title:
Artist:
Language(s):
Title Transcription (if required):
Title Translation (if required):

The form will look like the contents of the spoiler below. In the spoiler, there is also an explanation of each part.
Nation: Self-explanatory
Broadcaster: Each nation has a broadcaster, usually the national broadcaster, who will transmit the show in your nation. For example, the BBC is the UK broadcaster for Eurovision and broadcasts the event to the UK.

Song Title: Self-explanatory
Artist: The artist who will perform the song. You are expected to RP the performance in the draft thread later on.
Language(s): The languages of the song's lyrics.
Title Transcription (if required): If your song's title is in another alphabet, then this is where you fill the romanized title (for example, a song whose original title is "Мамо" would be romanized as "Mamo". Otherwise, you can omit this part completely.
Title Translation (if required): If your song's title is in another language, fill in the English translation here. Otherwise, you can omit this part completely.
Tune: Most songs in the World Hit Festival use the melody of an already existing tune, and the user only rewrites the lyrics. Self-written tunes are rare, but welcomed and appreciated. Some users choose to not use a tune for their song, but if you do, write here the tune which you are using.

If you want to see an example, scroll down, since experienced nations are more likely to sign up earlier.

Иåmless to sing in Izemdu!

Image
With the Darkmainain banner “Mësikk yr lev” (Music is life), DaTV announced that they have selected the duo “Nameless” (Often typed as Иåmless) to sing in Izmedu by using a tune that sound similar to a Twenty One Pilots song. They will sing “Fight!”.

“I look forward to the contest in Izemdu” Thomäs Pÿrmeis (he with the cap). "Me too" Jürgen Drïfas says. "I remember i was at the audience back when we didnt came last place in i think it was in Kalosia, but instead we were exatly in the middle!

Crosing my fingers that the tune hasnit been taken.

Similarly to the last WHF with Brave Enough, I've had this particular tune stuck in my head since I entered it in Izmepisma. Since it came very close to winning my NF, I thought I'd use it as my first ever entry as a host. I'm not quite sure if I'll begin to make Izmepisma a regular mechanism to select both my WV and WHF entries, but I wouldn't mind a second try.

I will try my best to have the IC information for this WHF by this Friday or Saturday at the latest. All of the details are still being worked out at the moment but I do have a venue planned, a stage, some info on Vodiznad, as well as the way the results will be panned out. Just as a small teaser, the WHF26/27 style of revealing the results is on the cards, I'm just figuring out the kinks of how I want to deploy it as well as devising the graphics.

More details will be revealed when they are ready. I'm excited to see how this WHF will go :)

First off, welcome to the World Hit Festival! It's always good to see new faces floating around the contest. As some posters above have already stated, since this is the OOC and sign-ups thread, it's not necessary for you to post in-character here. I understand that you may have some apprehensions about it, but I'd still encourage you to sign up as a participant. If not, that is okay. You can use this edition as a chance to observe and as you said yourself, sign up to be a spectator.

As a start, I'll provide a few links to get you started. Here is the IC thread for the most recent World Hit Festival if you'd like a glance at how the RP is conducted and Here is WHF15, which contains a link to some very well-done non-participant commentary (and interestingly enough on the edition I debuted too whoa).

If you do post commentary (I would also get approval with the overseer and OP, Kalosia, just to be safe), that is to be posted when I set up the IC thread around December 18/19. Once I finish copy/pasting the entries and fixing the formatting, that will be the greenlight for all nations to post their commentaries.

If you have any questions about the contest, ask me, Kalosia, or any of the regular participants. Hope to see you around!

Hiklarmangia joins the festeval in Izemdu!

Image
Hiklarmangia announded today that they are joining the race with the song “Get Up And Sing”, by girl-group #4DivasFromHik. Tune used is “Shout Out to My Ex” by Little Mix.

Head of HaTV, Jakop Satorus, also said that they will send their girls under the banner “Musikk er livet!”

This is a puppet for Darkmania.

This is mostly only used for joke RP with"of the best English that is of perfect". If I accidentally use this instead of my main, then blame Canada.

In-Character, Forum-Only Name is TIDS Hiklarmangia. (The Indipendenent Darkmanian State)

All of the above have been accepted and added to the OP.

Dmitry II wrote:"I vwas never much of a music protege, but I do take a keen interest in listening to it. Classical, rock, heavy metal, techno, rap, jazz, rap with accordions, you name it. Is it possible to sign up to zis festival as a spectator? I'd love to be involved in such an exciting event."

I was going to address this but everyone else has been so helpful and their answer is sufficient. I'd say feel free to do commentary or even RP as a spectator; the latter has been done before by a particular user, although he himself never participated.

Also, I just want to announce that this edition of the World Hit Festival will ICly take place on December 31 and will double as a New Year's Eve event (at least in Izmedu), with the winner to be revealed within the first few seconds of the new year of 2017.
