We once again find ourselves questioning the effectiveness of authoritarian governance, given its repeated failure to provide the security upon which it stakes its claim to legitimacy. If authoritarian measures cannot protect the people as they claim to, what is the purpose of authoritarian control? The answer is simple: authoritarian governments serve the interests of a select group of elites at the expense of the people. Their measures are not to further the collective good, but rather to enrich themselves and preserve their positions of power. Such governments are illegitimate, acting in defiance of the collective will, and must be abolished, even if they claim to be of a socialist nature.

I just arrived 3 days ago to this base I've got to say it is much better than Freedom's Progress. In addition we just finished an assault on the Golan Heights. It was relatively easy to take from the Israeli's and rebels but after we were stuck there for about 10 days in a disgusting ass trench we had rats in there that were the size of cats, big ass spiders, and other bugs and crap. I also heard about a bunch of terrorist attacks in Joyeah City and Ardbridge, I hope my family in Joyeah City are okay.

Riots Over George Floyd Continue In Multiple Cities, Military Deployed, State of Civil War Declared by Leadership

Joyeans have joined in on the protests and riots about George Floyd just like many other nations, while peaceful protests are permitted and only in specific areas rioters and looters have begun destroying the city. There have been 40+ deaths of innocent citizens by protestors. Many protestors call for reform and de-militarization and disarming of police but the Joyean Government has stated the will not disarm police. Dearest General Secretary Andreyev spoke about this matter earlier this morning stating:
"What oocured to Floyd was a tragedy, but rioting and looting and causing forty plus deaths is worse. These riots are causing extreme damage and will be considered enemies of the state and terrorists and\or rebels. We will use military force to end these riots because I am now declaring a state of civil war." Joyean Red Guard (or the Joyean "National Guard" if you want), the Joyean Army reserve and active duty troops were sent to help the federal, provincial, and local police control the situation. Joyeah City Secondary School was looted and burned down by 570+ rioters\looters before police could arrive and control the situation.

@A.Watson In short, yes, we have managed to avoid "locking down" in this country.

I think a large part of it is down to our keeping the borders secure at all times anyway. Nobody has authority to come in without being checked, and if you are coming from a country which is known to be beset by a deadly virus, you stay in isolation and observation for a while. Because it's standard procedure, and not some emergency protocol made up on the spot, infrastructure isn't a problem. Necessary personnel, equipment, and procedures already exist.

Reinforcements were sometimes necessary, but this was also covered by existing plans, because it's just like flood and fire safety. You plan for more than you expect to need, just in case.

National Guard saw some fairly extensive deployments to back up the normal security and observation people.

People believed to be especially susceptible, such as the elderly or those with certain conditions, have been advised to take cautions in public, and to avoid exposure whenever possible. Others have been advised to take care generally.

This is not to say we have not had any cases of the virus, or any deaths. We have. We've just kept the situation under control, and we haven't been hit nearly as hard as some nations as a result.

For now it is a matter of preventing new cases, and of treating those which arise as quickly as possible, until research yields a cure.

@Terminal Playboy Frequent hand washing should already be normal in any modern society, honestly, and it disturbs me to know how many people around the world act like it's some new horribly inconvenient thing they've never done before.

Does it really seem so odd that you should wash your hands regularly throughout the day? I do it because of my job, but even if I did something else, it would still be good sense.

Regarding distancing requirements, there's nothing official or mandatory here. Would you snug up hard on people if you had a cold or the flu? No? Same logic applies. Do not be an idiot.

Not to mention that this virus is a rather stealthy one, seeing as there have been cases where infected persons transmitted the disease abroad long before its international spread was noticed and measures to detect it had been devised. As for good sense, it is depressingly lacking. People have once again demonstrated that they are unwilling to inconvenience themselves by imposing restrictions on their behaviour, even when peoples lives are at stake. They cannot be trusted with such freedoms.

Why would it negatively impact my own people to impose restrictions for foreigners entering the Empire? Contrary to the rhetoric spewed by the Globalists, there are nations that are rather self-sustaining and have very little to no foreign trade agreements. The only countries that would be harmed drastically by the isolation of their borders would be those that rely heavily on Foreign Trade and the Vacation industry. Neither one of those is a major factor for the Empire. Once the first few cases were reported on the International Level, we closed our borders to everyone but essential travel (diplomats, etc). After that, and extensive testing of our populace, we came up with only about 1,100 total cases of COVID-19, with only 3 Deaths total from the 'pandemic'. So I much prefer how MY country handled the situation than how others did. And our standards for entering our nation, which were already put in place more than a decade ago, helped to ensure that the introduction and spread of this virus was so negligible that we were not worried.

But when the District of Humabon went under lockdown a few months back, the governor of Mindoro went through a lot of trouble making sure that the virus never made it to the province; by all accounts it worked.

Anyway, I hear the guy running Lucky Lucy is planning to unveil his post-pandemic promo; guy has a presence in Piffle, can't miss him.

At this time we do not offer the ability to completely turn off Locaion Services within the Mobile App. Although, if you go to Settings, Mobile Data, Location Services, you can set it so that it only will ping your Location when you post, which should take up way less battery power than having it on all the time. The three settings under that tab are "Always On", "On when App Opened" and "On only when Posting".

Totally unrelated, but I had a great day at the electronics store where I work. I had a customer come in with an old, old, old laptop that had stopped working, and she was rather distraught because it was where she'd stored a bunch of pictures of her late husband. I swapped in a fresh battery because the old one had just given up (that was the problem), cleaned the fans and keyboard out, re-soldered some connections for good measure and it worked like a charm! I transferred the photos to a backup USB drive for her, my manager gave her a 25% discount, and she was so happy to have it back. Working in retail does have its upsides. #goodfeels

@therealdesanta I work for a small, independent store so the customers aren't bad at all. I hardly ever interact with them,TBH, I do repairs. I'm still in tertiary school, so it's just something to do on weekends for extra cash. It's pretty great: the workshop area in the back is really well organized, it's quiet, and computers aren't hard to work with as long as you've got some practice. I'm going into electrical engineering in university, so I thought hands-on stuff would give me a little leg up. I hear you about the trolls, Piffle's full of Bolriegian troll accounts. dab.er's not as bad, but the user base is pretty toxic.

In either case, we stop and check everybody. It's a simple matter of checking travel papers, and identifying travelers who are from or have passed through high-risk countries.

It's simple, like the plot of a Nifonese anime, and while it doesn't prevent us getting any cases, it has helped us control things.

Open borders are playing with fire. We'd rather not.

Regarding your claim the people cannot be trusted with freedom? I have news for you. You won't like it, but here it is.

You're not special.

You read that right. You and those like you are not inherently superior to anybody else, so if the people can't be trusted with power to live their own lives as they see fit, then giving the authority to run their lives for them to you is simply out of the question.
