The Environmental Conservation Organization
Organización para la Conservación del Medio Ambiente
Organisation pour la conservation de l'environnement

Image

The Environmental Conservation Organization (ECO) is an international organization working for the protection and conservation of nature and the sustainable use of natural resources by member-states. Founded by Jeltronia's ruler in October 2016, the ECO brings together governments and private organizations, and provides an avenue for them to share resources and expertise; conduct collaborative research and studies, field projects, advocacy, lobbying and education.

ECO, in conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs of Jeltronia, and its counterparts in member-states, also monitor compliance and promote awareness and support for the Jobe Protocol, an international treaty providing for the establishing of environmentally-protected areas in member-states; the maintenance of a Red List for endangered species of faura and fauna; mandating for the institutional of environmental protection laws.

ECO has three tiers of members, membership (for states who are signatories to the Jobe Protocol); partner (for non-governmental organizations) and observer (for states and organizations that would like limited participation in ECO activities).

ECO is guided by its mission of: "advocate, influence and help societies to protect the beauty and diversity of nature and utilize natural resources using environmentally conscious and sustainable means." The organization strives to be a leading institution for the protection and conservation of the nature and its resources.

ECO Headquarters

The ECO Headquarters, formerly the Emperor's Center
for Renewable Energy Research
The Environmental Conservation Organization is headquartered in Jobe, Nabetseican Realm of Jeltronia. The ECO Council is the principal governing body of ECO. The Council provides strategic direction for the activities, discusses specific policy issues and provides guidance on finance and the membership development. It is composed of representatives from the different member-states, who are nominated and appointed by their respective governments. As founder of the organization, the Jeltronian representatives serves as Chairman of the ECO Council.

The Council in turn appoints the Director-General, who heads the Secretariat of ECO. The Secretariat is responsible for the management of ECO and the realization of its policies and projects. The current Director-General is Rosemary Alta, former Minister for Agriculture and Natural Resources of Jeltronia.

Our Projects for the Environment
The ECO organizes various projects with a view of protecting the environment, and providing for sustainable methods for natural resource utilization. Some of the many projects undertaken by the organization include:

The Jobe Protocol
The Jobe Protocol is an international treaty announced on October 2016, providing for the establishment of the Environmental Conservation Organization, as well as several provisions on environmental protection and conservation. It provides a framework whereby member-States are bound to provide for protected areas; protect species particularly endangered ones; and enact legislation for the regulation, penalizing of activities detrimental to the environment.

The ECO Redlist
Simply, the 'Redlist', contains species that are deemed endangered or nearing extinction by the Organization. Member-States are expected to protected list species and prohibit their trade and transfer, except for conservational purposes.

The ECO Protected Sites
The ECO Protected Sites are natural areas, fixtures or environments of great importance per the guidelines provided in the Jobe Protocol. ECO Protected Sites are protected by the treaty, and member-states hosting these areas are required to enact regulations limiting commercial activity in this areas. Protected Sites also have access to funding and other resources of the Organization.

The 2022 ECO Declaration
Adopted during the December 2022 Extraordinary meeting of the ECO Council, the declaration calls, among other things:
a.) a new international treaty that will replace the Jobe Protocol, build on its gains and help move the organization and member-states forward in their quest to take care of the environment; and
b.) an agreement on a set of sustainability goals, to serve as a blue print for the achievement of the peace and prosperity of all nations, while protecting and conserving the environment

The Jobe Protocol

The Jobe Protocol provides establishes the Environmental Conservation Organization, and provides an overall framework for member-states to adopt, promoting and enforcing policies which protect the environment, natural resources and wildlife; allow for the exchange of resources between members to

Some of the provisions which are worthy of note include the Redlist. Member-States are enjoined to prevent the trade of species listed as endangered, critically endangered and extinct in the wild, subject to the requirements of appropriate permits to be secured from their respective regulatory agencies. These agencies also have to be identified for the ECO to monitor their compliance with the Protocol, and allow the organization to identify the relevant bodies that it can work with. Also, the purpose for the trade of these species must not be for profit, but must be for conservation or protection reasons (as when the species need to be transferred due to an impending threat to its home or habitat.)

The provisions on Protected Sites, meanwhile, require Member-States to prohibit any destructive extractive activity to occur within identified protected sites. Member-States are expected to enact legislation providing for strict regulation on access to these sites, and the use of natural resources contained therein.

They are responsible for evaluating the inclusion of a particular specie in the Red List, its appropriate designation. Others also work for their reintroduction into former habitats, monitoring their status in the wild, research, and other thrust activities of the organization.

Amphibians
Chair: Kojo Diwowo (A m e n r i a
Mister Diwowo has always been interested in amphibians, especially frogs. He kept a variety of frogs in his home, treating them extremely well. After graduating high school, he continued his studies before specializing into his favourite class of animals. His love of frogs was so prominent he soon gained the nickname of "Kodok"jo or "frog"jo. He even gained fans who call themselves cebong, or tadpoles.

He got a degree in environmental science, and then got a job to help develop oil drilling wells that don't leak oil into the ocean. Soon after he made a successful model, he got a job in the Ministry of the Environment. The government chose him to be the chair for the fish special group.
Fungi

The Crater Company which owns the site, has reported there's been an increase in waste being thrown off the edges of the barriers and hiking trails. Local wildlife has also decreased due to pollution, poor air quality, and the risk of the lake water being infected or its quality worsened. The company has appealed to the DEC for help, but progress is slow in the reduction of improper waste disposal.

Ignoring the site could be dreadful for the Grizzly Bear population. The Federal Republic of California (Nue California) has taken in interest in preserving that front as well, since the population of Grizzly Bears also frequent around uninhabited areas of Northern California and their state of Nevada.[/box]
