Federal Armed Forces of Wanka Factbook

Postby Murovanka » Mon Oct 10, 2016 2:43 am

Overview
The Federal Armed Forces of Wanka (Bundesstreitkräfte, BSK) is the military of the Federal Republic of Wanka, and comprises the Federal Army (Bundesheer), Federal Navy (Bundesmarine), Federal Air Force (Bundesluftwaffe) and the Special Forces (Spezialkräfte). Founded in late 2010, it originated from the Confederate Army consisting of both local and defecting forces during the Wankan War of Liberation, which led the Confederation's (East Wankan) victory against the Wankan Theocracy. Following reunification and subsequent establishment of the new constitution, it was renamed to the Bundesstreitkräfte and absorbed much of the disbanded West Wankan Reichsstreitkräfte.

The role of the Federal Armed Forces as stated in the Constitution is national defence; by ruling of the Constitutional Court this may include the protection of Wankan interests and citizens abroad. The Federal Armed Forces is a volunteer army, though by law conscription can be enacted in times of war.

According to the Constitution, the Federal States' (Länder) can independently run and maintain State Guards which serve as a de facto large pool of reserve forces for the Federal Army. However, they are also seen as a guarantor of States' Rights as the Constitution intends it to be and in peacetime they are under the command of the Minister-President of the State.

The Federal Armed Forces have been undergoing significant changes and reorganisation under the broader Weißbuch der Sicherheitspolitik und die Bundesstreitkräfte 2015 (White Paper on Security Policy and Federal Armed Forces of 2015) which signalled a major paradigm shift in the role of the Wankan military from that of purely territorial defence (which was the focus since 1980) to that of a "strategic rebalancing" according to Chancellor Röder, the enabling of the military to act on stronger terms in support of Wankan Foreign Affairs in face of an "increasingly interconnected and externally dependent Wankan economy". Under this shift naval and marine infantry forces have been and are continued to be boosted in size and funding, as well as procurement and development of advanced military technology and hardware.

The Wankan military has a standing size of 580,000 active personnel and 146,000 reserves. In addition, it is supported by 567,000 troops of the State Guards, bringing the total size of Wankan military forces to 1,147,000 troops.

Command Structure

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces is the Chancellor of the Federal Republic, currently Hasso Röder (NSEP). He formulates security policy as well as issues commands to the armed forces through the National Security Council (Bundessicherheitsrat) which comprises the Chancellor and the cabinet, the National Security Advisor, the Chief of Staffs of the uniformed branches.

Operations are conducted and coordinated by the branches through the High Command (Oberste Heeresleitung).

In peacetime the Länder command and maintain their militaries along with their separate general staffs, however in times of war the Chancellor assumes command of all military forces in Wanka. By law the Federal Armed Forces are not permitted to be deployed in Wanka apart from humanitarian operations while State Guards can be used in limited function to maintain order.

Militaries of Wanka during War of Liberation [Historic]

Postby Murovanka » Fri Apr 21, 2017 12:03 am

West Wankan Armed Forces

Overview

The Wankan Armed Forces (Reichsstreitkräfte) is the military of Wanka whose purpose is the protection of Wankan sovereignty and interests abroad.

The Armed Forces is divided into the following branches: Army, Air Force, Navy, Armed Forces Foundation and comprises as of January 2005 450,000 active troops and 350,000 reservists following the implementation of the reform program Armee 21 in late 2003 which streamlined the military bureaucracy, introduced the partial draft and led to the reorganisation of army divisions along regional Corps lines.

All branches are coordinated by the General Staff, which is led by the Chief of the General Staff Franz Ohrlitz. The General Staff answers to the President Karl Grawitz, who is its Commander-in-Chief.

History

The Wankan Armed Forces dates back only to 1980, when it was founded by Ulrike Meinhof following her victory in the Wankan Civil War consisting of troops loyal to her regime, later incorporating volunteers regardless of history. It first fought low-intensity insurgencies in the Wankan south before being first put to test in the Sellenland War of 1995 where it captured the Sellenland region from Aemen. A year later, it fought the Saxon War, playing a major role in bringing about the ascendancy of Wanka onto the world stage. In that time, the Wankan military grew to over a million men strong. Through the Armee 98 reforms introduced by Hasso Röder, the ground forces were reorganized according to the principles of maneuver warfare and the military leadership and organization streamlined to provide for a more cost-effective force. Following the war with Gauliscia, in which Wanka was decisively defeated, and the resulting April Putsch in which State Security Office Director Karl Grawitz assumed power, the military has undergone another set of major reforms (Armee 21) as it looks to combat new strategic threats to Wankas security.

The East Wankan Army was born in the Prussian Rebellion, and soon came to include troops from Saxony and from the Allgäu in the following years. Wankan Nuclear History, Capability and Policy

Postby Murovanka » Sun Jun 11, 2017 5:08 am

History

Wanka was one of the pioneers of nuclear weapons research and development and was one of the first to test a nuclear device in 19-- during the "Black War" with Madera as the Holy Emperor sought to find the "superweapon" to prevent what he feared was the imminent collapse of the Wankan Empire. Faced with bankruptcy before the war from endless colonial wars and one at its frontiers, the Holy Emperor authorised the region's first and only use of a nuclear weapon to date, striking the Maderan capital- Chandler- with a 10-kiloton fission bomb, resulting in the immediate deaths of over 320,000 civilians.

Horrified at the use of such an indiscriminate and devastating weapon and knowing that the balance of power was forever in danger, a coalition of nations gathered in wake of the attack, accelerating the development of their own arsenals (for those who could) and at the same time bearing down on Wanka's globe-spanning colonial empire.

The end of the Black War meant the collapse of the Wankan colonial empire and territorial concessions including Saxony, the Ostmark and Prussia. The Sellenland was lost to Aemen, the second nuclear power, in the process.

Knowing that it was critical to establish some sort of international agreement to prevent a nuclear arms race and the proliferation of nuclear weaponry- such as to threaten the very existence of humankind- the nuclear states gathered in the Demetish holding of Springstile which would bring about the World Treaty for the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weaponry in 1981.

In the postwar process Wanka agreed under the terms of the Treaty of Hessen to "engage in nuclear disarmament" and pledge never to "resort to the usage of nuclear weaponry".

In the Springstile Agreement of 1971, Wanka maintains that it still possessed nuclear weapons and as such was treated as a nuclear weapons state, assuming this position on its accession to the final NPT signed in 1981.

In the period of instability and the following Wankan 1st Civil War.
