People's State of Veleaz

To the Governments of Nations involved in the Triskaideka War,

The War between our states has dragged on for a period of time that all members of the current regime has deemed to be an unacceptable length of time, with casualties that have unjustifiable even by the standards of insane military generals. For some time, mumbling between lower ranks of the Commissar's Office have arisen about the mental state or justifiability of the regime under Generalissimo Enrique Vincente, with some accusing the Generalissimo of launching the war as a means to sustain his shaky position as sole ruler of Veleaz, and over time, these concerns slowly rose to the upper ranks of the Office.

As such, the Generalissimo was disposed of last night, with the sound of fighting between Veleazan and Midrasian soldiers cracking in the distance, by an armed contingent of the Commissar's Office that began to harbour fears the increasingly paranoid dictator might bring Veleaz down with him. With the removal of Enrique Vincente, the current continuation of the War has been deemed unnecessary, as well as many of the numerous projects and schemes the previous administration, and we write this letter in the hopes that a ceasefire may be declared, until the opportune moment that a more grounded and legally binding armistice agreement can be formulate by our governments, in the hopes that war in Asura may not arise again for many centuries.

Signed:
Antonio Bardem, Chief of the Commissar's Office, former aide-de-camp to Generalissimo Enrique Vincente, interim President of the People's State of Veleaz

Shootout in Aurharbwr
Unknown Parties Involved in Gunfight

The streets of Aurharbwr were awash with panic yesterday as a gunfight broke out between two as yet unidentified parties. The authorities were first alerted to the incident when pedestrians outside the Bryce-Vathran Building called for the Garda after hearing what sounded like gunfire within the building; for how long the gunfire had been going on prior to these initial reports is as yet unclear and the Garda have yet to release an official statement on the subject.

The Bryce-Vathran Building was constructed in the early 00s by Pexecom Construction for the Bryce-Vathran Conglomerate, one of the world's largest corporate entities. Since its completion in 2006 the building has been home to the corporation's headquarters, administrative division, and research and development facility for its electronics and robotics division. Bryce-Vathram has interests in deep mining, offshore renewable energy, geothermal technologies, robotics, electronics, and associated technologies and employs approximately 65,000 people in Asura alone. The company has also yet to release a statement on the incident, however have confirmed that six members of its on site security team were killed and that their families have been notified.

For their part the government has already announced a full investigation to be led by the intelligence services with the assistance of the Garda.

Eyewitnesses allege that minutes before the gunfire was heard three large helicopters were seen approaching the building, however the Aurharbwr Air Control Authority state that no authorisation for any such aircraft was given though three unidentified signatures were detected over the city prompting the military to be alerted, however since the aircraft were identified as unarmed an immediate response was not called for. Eyewitness Adrian Crowyll contradicts the latter part of this statement by claiming that at least one of the helicopters was armed and opened fire with a heavy automatic weapon on the side of the building; this claim seems to be corroborated by other witnesses who reported seeing significant damage to the side of the Bryce-Vathram building in areas which have since been covered by the authorities.

More Information on Aurharbwr Shootout
Official Statements Released

Official sources have released more information following Sunday's dramatic shootout at the Bryce-Vathran building in Aurharbwr. The Garda, Intelligence Services, Air Control Authority, and Bryce-Vathran have all made official statements in a joint press conference held earlier today marking the first official releases of any significant information on the events of Sunday.

According to the Garda statement the majority of the shooting took place between private security contractors employed by Bryce-Vathran, Bryce-Vathran's own security teams, and an unknown third party. The crime scenes are still being analysed however a number of shell casings and other combat detritus have been recovered for analysis; initial study of the shell casings in particular indicate that the unknown third party were using military grade 5.56mm and 7.62mm weapons, as well as to some extend shotguns and 11.4mm pistols. The origin of the munitions used is as yet unknown and the intelligence services confirmed that none of the shell casings linked to the third party have rendered any identifying markers and to where they were manufactured.

The intelligence services have stated that based on the evidence found at the crime scene the third party had employed cutting edge equipment of as yet undetermined origin. Ballistics tests will be undertaken in the coming days to try and collate more data on the subject and hopefully identify the kinds of weapons used. The spokesman further ruled out a terrorist attack because only Bryce-Vathran corporate interests were assaulted and no clear intent to cause loss of life has yet been found; further the spokesman stated that the evidence indicates that this is a case of an armed covert operation gone awry when the third party triggered the security response systems.

Bryce-Vathran have stated that they believe the target of the attack was their advanced robotics, software development, and electronic research division. They have yet to uncover the extent of the damage or identify what information or materials may have been accessed or stolen, however they have confirmed that numerous high level government and international contracts were being worked on in their facilities on site. With relation to the gunfight specifically Bryce-Vathran have released details of their security detail and contracts with private security company APDL. APDL maintained a team of twenty armed personnel on site and it was this team alongside regular security staff who responded when the third party triggered the security systems. It was confirmed that after the exchange of gunfire escalated that two unidentified helicopters opened fire on the building using high calibre automatic weapons and at least one high powered auto-cannon. Six members of their security staff, who were equipped only with stab vests and 9mm handguns, were killed in the exchange with a further fourteen injured, while APDL suffered seven fatalities and four other casualties.

HERGEMOTH ROYAL NEWS
LAND OPERATIONS FOLLOW AIR STRIKES IN ARAMAS

World- Wilkomme back to Hergemoth Royal News. Over the past week, Hergemoth's involvement in the Aramas conflict has been powerful, swift, and extensive. Airstrikes in the North and South-east of the country occurred between June 22 and June 26. Operation: Dunestorm , was designed to totally weaken the rebel position, to aid Aramas Government troops, and thrash rebel positions and morale. The Defense Minister said today: "Aramas is going to end with Hergic help." The King has not released a statement yet. On June 25, after extensive airstrikes in near St. Martius, Hergic special troops arrived, in two helicopters, conducting raids into the stricken city, and eliminating and capturing rebel infantry pockets. One casualty, Hans Jirgin, was reported. The King awarded him the Cross of the Wasp and Medal of Bravery posthomously.

Hergic action is expected to continue until the war ends. The Ministry of Defense, after publicizing the 3 raids that occurred, stated that the Aramas war was effectively over, and only the last rebel areas needed to be eliminated so that an internationally sponsored rebuild of the country can occur. The Foreign Ministry has stated that Hergemoth will "offer utmost assistance" in the Aramas rebuild. However, further military strikes will be conducted, said the Palace. Also, in an act that awed media, the Hergic flag was raised on a hill high above St. Martius, effectively eliminating rebel morale.

GIK MARKET SCANDAL, AND THE LEIKARI INCIDENT: UPDATE:

Hergemoth- In other news, the investigation into the Secret Intelligence Office (GIK) involving itself with one or more companies in collaborative price fixing, is thickening. An independent commission found that the North Asuran Shipping Cartel (NASC), may have cooperated with the GIK to operate price fixing to garner profits for NASC, and possible racketeering is also being investigated. The GIK's official statement is that it is "baffled that such communist allegations are permitted". NASC, along with ANA, Kries Motors, and Almannic Freight Conglomerate have all denied involvement with intelligence services. The Commission resumses session June 29.

Several weeks after Armed Police killed 19 in a brutal raid on a Leikari independence commune, protests still occur. The Leikari nationalist movement has grown strong, and rumor is they will secure a referendum in 2019. The anger at the raid has been continuous, and greiving for those lost has been saddening. The Polizei Minister has said he's "disgusted he's the minister", and has resigned, as well as several Jarikas PD officers. The political and economic fallout appears to be only worsening from this tragic incident.

INTERVIEW: Nikódem Nesz, Navack’s new hope?
Our talk with the centre forward and the Copa d’Aeia
By Ebba Andrësziak

Image
Centre forward Nikódem Nesz is off to Salborga to compete in the Copa d’Aeia as the
first Ostrin playing for the Purples.

EA: Thank you for talking with us, Nikódem! I’m sure it’s been a busy time.
NN: It has, but thank you for the interview. [laughs] I enjoy talking.
EA: You’re the first Ostrin to play for the Purples. How does that feel?
NN: Pretty neat. Growing up on the island, it’s very easy to assume that you won’t go anywhere, that you’re stuck. And if you do go, there’s that fear you’ll lose that connection to Ostry in some way. When I left in 2013 to play for New Hope FC, I was really conscious of that fear, and I tried to alleviate it. I remember trying to make zupa dôrszô for my teammates without cod and, God, it was horrible. [laughs] Never again doing that!
EA: And coming back to Navack?
NN: It was great! Since I was a kid I always rooted for them, and to finally play for the Purples is really a dream come true. They’re not only a great team, but extremely welcoming too. My first day training with them, Karsten Johansen came up to me and tried his best to speak Ostric. It was botched beyond belief and he stopped almost immediately, but it’s the thought that counts, you know?
EA: I always thought Johansen was the “friendly one” on the team. So, going to the Copa d’Aeia, are you excited?
NN: Of course I’m excited! I really feel Navack has the ability to snag the Copa this year. We made it to the quarterfinals and ranked fifth, so we’re in a position to do much better and win the final. I’m excited for the group stage the most honestly, that’s where we’ll show our teeth. The Mardin Isles field a decent team, but I believe we’re more disciplined and have an edge. Kagon and Dreyvisevich are notable teams in their own right as well, but I do honestly think we’ll come out on top. It won’t be an easy fight in the group stage, but if anything it’ll harden us.
EA: Thank you for your time Nikódem, and good luck on the pitch.
NN: Thank you.

Cúpan an É: Mardin Isles upset Navack in inaugural group game
The Warriors bounce back from a four goal deficit to take a point from their first Copa game in 15 years

4 July 2018, 23:00 / Aonghus Ó Grialais

Image
Mardic players celebrate Ó Coille's last minute equalizer.
The Mardin Isles drew with group F favourites Navack 4-4 in their opening group game of the tournament, their first Copa d'Aeia since 2003.

Going into the match it was odds on for Navack, who were widely expected to pass through the match with ease. Navack started extremely well thanks to a weak early Mardic defense, leading to a Jørgen Hammer-assisted goal thanks to Nikódem Nesz in the 8th minute. From then onward it appeared to go downhill for the Warriors with a second concession seven minutes later by Nesz again, once again helped by an assist by Hammer despite an early deflection by Mardic goalkeeper Marcus Ó Reachtair. The Purples continued their dominance of the first half and with little the Mardic side seemed to be able to do, the first half wouldn't end without a third purple goal from Karsten Johansen.

The second half saw a much better early performance from the laochra. Art Ó Dála pushed against the Navack defense for a convincing on-target shot but missing. The first Mardic corner of the game ended in catastrophe when the Navack side retrieved the ball and began a counter-attack, ending in an easily scored goal by Jørgen Hammer in the 54th minute. By this stage, it looked like game set and match for the Lhedwinic powerhouse and a bitter disappointment for the isles, almost reminding them of the 9-0 defeat to the Purples back in 1956, the Mardin Isles' worst ever international defeat. However, things were to take an unexpected turn of events.

Despite a quickly depleting morale among the Mardic players and supporters, a Cormac Mac Conmara header put the ball in the Navack net for the first time, bringing the game to 4-1 after 62 minutes. Following the subdued celebration a determined Mardic attack brought Diarmaid Ó Muire to shoot the ball into the area, allowing Art Ó Dála to take a shot and managed to net the ball, largely in part due to a major mistake by Navish keeper Ken Bruer. With enthusiasm growing, a pass to Mac Conmara leads to a volley of the ball into the box by Ó Grianna, bringing the difference between the two sides to just one. With Navack becoming more defensive, the Warriors found it incredibly hard to find the box for an equalizer despite dominating possession in the second half.

The miracle came after two and a half minutes of additional play, when a rather spontaneous kicking of the ball led to the ball being kicked out despite the hint of a possible goal. Seán Óg Ó Raghallaigh crosses the ball into the area, where Ruaidhrí Ó Coille finds it and shoots into the net, claiming the crucial equalizer and wrapping up the game, bringing the curtains down on a thrilling game and leaving the team happy with a satisfying opening point in Group F.

The result was met with celebration and delight back home, as pubs and bars packed with people rang in the success of the team against the 2016 semi-finalists. Media research company Ó M Saortharlanna, said that more than 750,000 people watched the match, an impressive figure for a country where association football is not the dominant sport.

Elsewhere in Group F, Dreyvisevich defeated Kagon 1-0 in their opening match, consequentially topping the group. Group C favourites Midrasia defeated Transcandar 4-1 while incumbent champions New Timeria drew with Hipasia in a thrilling 5-5 match.

Mardin Isles' next challenge will be against the controversial Kagon team on Sunday evening, who currently sit bottom of the group. A win for the Warriors is crucial, and could put the team through to the knockout stage for the first time ever.

Police continues to Clamp down on Sergelen–Khürmeni Insurrection; Casualties of ethnic and federal conflicts number to 92

Within the state of Sergelen, the state has become the center for the Sükhbaataryn Sectional Split, that has hit the country since 2002. From the formerly communist regime of the People's Republic of Sükhbaatar, the Sükhbaataryn government has attempted to gain control of the Eastern Provinces of Sükhbaatar. Sergelen, the centerfold state of the split and the poorest state within all of the country, has recently had several insurrectionist cells growing within the country. Reports from the local police and the Sükhbaataryn General People's Guard have indicated that several plans from insurrectionist group numbers in around ten thousand members within their ranks. Reports also suggest that a breakthrough to the insurrectionist yurt town of Myangad preformed by the Sükhbaataryn General People's Guard and the Sükhbaataryn People's Armed Forces.

However, recently the Sükhbaataryn Red Cross has released reports to the public, including statistics of civilians who are still awaiting compensation for the Great Yurt Fire of Sergelen, which killed over 1,000 people and left 25,000 people homeless. Reports from the Dashbalbar News Station reports as of the beginning of July that the states is continual in under-funding the state and its attempts to build up its economy. The Great Khural of Sükhbaatar has dismissed several issues that were brought up to the floor of the Presidium of People's Representatives that were created to help increase the possible economic value of Sergelen.

Several aid groups, especially the Red Cross, have attempted to enter the cities of Dashbalbar and Myangad. The two cities within Sergelen were listed to be under military martial law by the Sükhbaataryn People's Armed Forces and the Sükhbaataryn General Frontier Guard. These aid groups however, were denied access into Dashbalbar and Myangad, due to "safety concerns". Myangad is still scarred and is reported under economic strains and the fire that the town will be uninhabitable until further developments.

International groups have failed to apply pressure onto the Sükhbaataryn government, leading to the government censoring the issue, making it a non-issue for the state. With tensions high within the state, several officials have left the government on leave, allowing the Sükhbaataryn People's Democratic Party to take control of the Khural, effectively instilling the communist leadership back into place.

Ongoing: Riot erupts in the state of Khürman, attempts of suppression failed by the Sükhbaataryn General People's Guard

Several protests erupted into violent riots against the Sükhbaataryn General People's Guard. During a protest in the state of Khürman, in the sole urban sector of Gurvanzagal, the Sükhbaataryn General People's Guard. Using guns equipped with rubber bullets and blanks, the Sükhbaataryn General People's Guard fired upon the protesters, which turned extremely violent. Several men and women pushed themselves onto the People's Guard, attempting to grab a hold of their weapons while other people attacked police forces. The city is currently facing the prospect of military reinforcements and martial law, which the city government has attempted to reject.

The protest started as a peaceful protest against the state in its failings of handling the Sergelen-Khürmani Ethnic conflicts, which have killed over 100 people across Khürman due to an anti-Sergelen sentiment following the Great Yurt Fire of Sergelen. The protest also demanded for bigger economic reforms and a bigger representation of Sergelen-Khürmani interests in developing their countries. The State Administration of Khürmani has backed demands against the protests of the ruling party of Khürman.

The state however, is currently facing a crisis in that the riot is still continuing within the city, and the city's administrator has cited Sükhbaataryn Red Cross reports as to preventing the Sükhbaataryn People's Armed Forces from imposing martial law, and has attempted to defuse the situation. This article will be edited to provide updates throughout the next week. Starting on 7/14/18, the Sükhbaataryn Government News Agency will be focusing on the planned developments that are expected to occur within Sergelen and Khürman, as well as developments with the Red Cross and the People's Guard.

The government of Sükhbaatar has yet to respond to any of the reports, accusations or events that have occurred within the interior of the country within the past month concerning Sergelen and Khürmani Affairs.

Los Tiempos De Colerva

Shootout in San Rodrigo leaves several dead

San Rodrigo- During the late hours of July 12, shots were reported in the northern suburbs of San Rodrigo, reportedly coming from in and around a warehouse registered to company Columbian Shipping and Freight, rumored to be linked with the Cartels. It is has been uncovered that a large shootout took place, supposedly between cartels, commerical security, and there are rumors of involvement by the "La Merna Cartel", also known as the Government of Colerva. After SR Policia arrived on the scene around 10 minutes after reports of shots came, they found several combatants engaging in an active gunfight, with Policia who were on the scene saying that they saw 4 bodies the moment they walked in. To add to that, the official death toll hit 9 after an apparent cartel member died in hospital just hours ago. After Policia arrived on the scene they attempted to intervene and cease the fiery hostilities, resulting in a large scale battle between multiple so-far "unconfirmed combatants", according to SR District Policia chief, Manuel Perialla. After about 30 minutes, Policia forced a stop to the fighting, and arresting 4 individuals, with many more fleeing or being injured and hospitalized.

The incident was believed to have occurred after a group of Cape Cartel members, approached the warehouse for a deal most likely in arms or drugs, likely with members of Columbian Shipping & Freight Co., and were either ambushed by a third participant, or the conflict broke out between the Cartel members and the commericalists, for any reason. The warehouse has been closed off, and survivors, witnesses, and officials, the first and second of which's reports to the Policia made up the supposed background mentioned prior. The CSFC has said that they were not involved in the gunfight, and that they were not aware of any persons being present at their property at the time. A Buenesto policeman who was at the crime scene and was shot in the leg during the chaos, has said that CSFC is making false denial and is in league with the cartels. He was reported missing earlier today. The Cape Cartel has not made any sign of a statement or any response, leaving the bulk of the situation a mystery to Policia.

President La Merna stated hours ago that he "had the hearts and minds of the people of San Rodrigo and those affected by this terrible gunfight." he has also denied any involvement, although there is mass speculation that the government or governmental elements such as ODIDE or SIE, or even Policia were involved somehow. CSFC is one of the largest companies of it's kind in the Columbian Sea area, being known for having a large fleet of both ships and planes, adding to a growing influence in politics, economics and society. It would not be a surprise if such a powerful company was in league with the equally influential drug cartels. This shootout has been branded a "battle" within the Colervan Drug War, as it seems obviously the cartels had something to do with the action at CSFC Warehouse No. 137 San Rodrigo.

PRINCE LUDOMIR DECRIES JAROMIR'S "INACTIVITY"
THE PRINCE ATTACKS CESARZ IN CHARGED SPEECH REGARDING VELEAZAN CONFLICT

Image
Prince Ludomir told the gathered veterans and officials that the Cesarz was failing the country
Żobrodź, Miersa - In a speech to military veterans and officials in the vast gardens of Pałac Królewski, Prince Ludomir has attacked Cesarz Jaromir over his percieved "inaction" regarding the Midrasia-Veleaz War, which had concluded in a ceasefire a few days prior.

Although there had been discussion of Miersa joining the conflict on the side of it's Asuran allies such as Midrasia, the death of Cesarz Jan Karol and Crown Prince Michał ended negotiations, and the Commonwealth under Jaromir had instead remained neutral.

In a vitriolic attack on his elder brother the Cesarz, Prince Ludomir claimed that his "inaction" had "weakened Miersa's position on the world stage".

Ludomir went on to further claim that "Midrasia was no ally to Miersa", citing instances of allegedly Midrasian-funded protests within the country. Ludomir instead decried Mydroll as "the second enemy" of Miersa, citing "godless communism" as the first.

The speech was well-received from the gathered veterans and military officials; cementing a relationship between Ludomir and the military which experts have been describing for some time. Although anonymous military chiefs have stated that this is "worrying" for Jaromir's authority, the Cesarz has refused to comment on the speech.

According to a popular saying, the conflict between Ludomir and the Cesarz reportedly dates back to their birth, where the two twins fought to see who would emerge first.

Now they instead feud over the fate of the country. A professor of geopolitics at the University of Lotrič has suggested that while Jaromir represents the "pro-western tenancies" of his father, Ludomir represents his "inherent patriotism and will to war".

"Jaromir is the Jan Karol of 2017; Ludomir is the Jan Karol of 1983" he told Obserwator.

Ludomir continues to insist that he has "the utmost loyalty" towards his brother.

SMALL GAINS HINT AT TURNING TIDE
Rumours of Republican numbers shrink encourage Royalist forces
Image
Resurgence in monarchist numbers as women are conscripted for the first time
St. Quinten- With the months of summer slowly dragging on, and as the leaves of the trees begin to turn from green to orange, many military experts and civilians alike have wondered where the decisive Republican summer offensive would strike. Many suggested that the Folkslanders would seize control of Aesaelf and Fakeham, effectively cutting the Kingdom off from the rest of Asura, while other commenters would've expected the offensive to come from Dempsy, which had been taken over following the disastrous Battle of Barrowton, and then beyond to Þeynþorp, standing at the gates of the Provision Capital of the Kingdom. However, none of these ever materialised, with the most major battles being relegated to nothing more than intense skirmishes during patrols into no-mans land. Many are even suggesting that this is merely a ploy as political troubles in Folksland have taken precedence, with rumours circulating at Holt's instability as President and the supposed defection of numerous ministers.

Regardless, instead of wondering when the summer offensive will come, many have instead turned their thoughts as to why no offensive has occurred. The most common explanation is that the manpower of the Republic has waned since the bloody months of the winter phase of the war, where thousands of men faced off against each other in a series of Republican victories, however while the cost of Royalist lives stood at 34,000 men, unconfirmed reports of Republican losses place them at nearly 90,000, a result of relying too much on both untrained and overenthusiastic militias, despite the necessity due to the small number of professional soldiers the Republic had at the beginning of the war, with the casualties only draining that number further. These rumours may have even been proven true, due to the ease of which a small Royalist attack on a Republican position on the border between Royd and Croken quickly led to the town of Milden falling under Royalist control, with reports coming back of both a lack of defenders and spirit.

The lack of morale in Republican ranks has also been a reported issue, as numbers of defectors and deserters reach unprecedented amounts, with the deserters reporting that the lack of international recognition and support has led to many armoured vehicles being without both fuel and ammunition, the majority of it being expended during the bitter months of the Winter Phase. Additionally, they report that food stores have been plummeting as the regions under Republican control harbour few agricultural lands that have not already been pillaged by Republican scavengers. Many also point to a general discontent among the civilian population towards the Republican soldiers, at some points resulting in violence between civilians and soldiers, resulting in a series of unreported crackdowns on civilian conduct, further drawing both manpower from the front and morale among the men. Of course, the top brass of the Landmight are taking these reports with a grain of salt, as many deserters exaggerate tales to both earn favour or to falsify military intelligence. Ironically, many of the deserters and defectors are also those that had defected from the Royalist armed forces back in January when the fighting first began.

With all these reports flooding in, as well as a break in the weather, some have begun to suspect that a Royalist offensive to retake Dempsy is in the most likely path of the Royalist forces. Many, however dispute this as the number required to retake Dempsy are far lower than those that are reported to be camped across the Kingdom of Þeynþorp, with some expecting that the Royalists will instead breeze through Dempsy, and instead focus its efforts of a attack through Alager and laying siege to Cyningburgh, the heart of the Republican faction. Suspicions of such a daring and, unexpectedly, bloody attack have been raised as a royal decree from the Council has authorised the recruitment of women into the Royalist forces, both as combat soldiers and support, for the first time in both Royalist and Newreyan history, a move supposedly undertaken to bolster Royalist forces in preparation for the expected offensive.

Saachi-Seider-Cuhlain Executives Arrested
Links to Aurharbwr Shootout Confirmed

A Garda spokesman has today announced that seven members of the Executive Board of the Saachi-Seider-Cuhlain corporation were among those arrested today following a lengthy investigation into last month's enigmatic shootout at the Bryce-Vathran headquarters in Aurharbwr. A further twenty eight people have been arrested in relation to the case but their names and details of their alleged involvement in this matter have yet to be released.

According to the Garda spokesman evidence has been uncovered that SSC Executives hired illegal Private Dark-Ops Contractors from the banned Black Star company to raid the R&D facilities in Aurharbwr so as to steal research and prototypes for an undisclosed technology which was being developed under contract for the Lhaeraidh military. Accordingly raids on a number of addresses were undertaken against members of Black Star, however in spite of efforts to take them by surprise int heir homes authorities were tipped off allowing the suspects to evade capture. The Garda has now handed over responsibility for tracking down and dealing with Black Star to the intelligence services while they continue to build their case against SSC Holdings.

COMMUNISM SHALL NOT BE ABANDONED!
Commissars Bardem and Verdú make controversial promise!
Image
Veleazan conscripts maintain vigilance, despite the ceasefire!
[size=110]Tolvas- As peace negotiations between Veleaz and the representatives of the Midrasian-led Coalition and CDN continue to drag on, a number of sources have reported a general feeling of uneasiness rippling throughout Veleazan ranks, with the decades of propaganda and political coldness convincing them that the Midrasian government cannot be trusted to maintain the tentative peace that has fallen over the battlefields following the declaration of a ceasefire back in June. Many civilians have reported that the soldiers have become either politically extreme in favour of communism, or a simply tired from the long hours of remaining on guard, despite the ceasefire, with the battalion Commissar's becoming exceptionally more powerful in sway in the masses than they held prior to the War.

Reports of a supposed attempted mutiny on the North-Midrasian Front, where many NCOs and enlisted men refused to take their positions or carry out orders due to the popular belief that the system of communism they have grown up under will be abandoned has led the three Commissariat Representatives; Antonio Bardem, Gabino Verdú, and Pablo Almagro, have stressed in a public Party rally in Tolvas that the communist system will not be dissolved in Veleaz, nor would the Communist Party abandon Veleaz in such a crucial time in its history.

Such an announcement is not expected to go over lightly with the Midrasian government or negotiating party, with the presence of a communist government so close to their border being an integral part in the state's foreign policy, as well as Veleaz acting as one of the last rogue state of Asura, as well as the last remnants of the ASU. Additionally, Dreyvisevich authorities have also made their position on communism, or at least Veleaz's interpretation, clear, with the sitting President denouncing the government as 'A Black Mark on Socialism'. Issues with Dreyvisevich are not expected to easily subside either, regardless of the outcome of the peace deal, with Antonio Bardem publicly making it clear he disagreed with the state, labelling them as 'Spineless, hoping to achieve something in a war they had not the stomach to start and attempting to pick up the scraps by barging in', while reports also circulate of Veleazan citizens in territory overtaken by the Dreyvisevich Armed Forces engaging in public disagreements and outbreaks of violence between the civilians and soldiers.

Veleaz' Military Collapse to Seal Communisms Fate?
Moral and Material Collapse of Communism in Asura

Will the military collapse of Veleaz signal an end to the prominence of Communism as a viable ideology on a global level? In many ways it seems so. For decades now Communism has seemed to be in a state of terminal decline with those nations which still adhere to its tenets forming at best a laundry list of second rank and fragile nations; this assessment seems only to have been confirmed by the fact that Veleaz' military, after initial successes, has been roundly crushed by a mixed bag of opposing nations. Certainly this defeat of Veleaz signal an end to Communism's influence in Asura, and likely no-one will take that nation's pretensions of power or claims of military capability seriously any longer.

The tragedy of the situation is that it took a war to prove that aggressive militarised Communism is a self destructive and inadequate system of government. For decades Communism was seen as a popular, viable alternative to the capitalist ideologies which seem to have flourished; certainly the oppressed peoples of far flung nations looked to Communism as an ideal which released them from the chains of servitude to a feudal or rampantly uncaring capitalist system. However nowhere have the dreams of these oppressed peoples been realised. Yes time and again Communism has reared its ugly head, supported by the poor and downtrodden as well as by the misled; but time and again the only result we have seen is a backslide into oppression and torture made all the more insidious for the fact that it veils itself in the cloak of being 'for the people'. Take Veleaz as an example, its fall to Communism has led it only to ruin both literal and figurative. Prior to Communism it was regarded among the first tier of nations, then through the machinations of history it fell to become little more than the shattered pariah it is today, its people burdened by poverty and choked with the results of a destructive war which was ultimately of their making as much as it was their governments.

In a manner typical of Communist regimes the government of Veleaz played upon the more natural ideological principles of nationalism, justice, and even to a degree spiritualism in order to perpetuate the myth that the government needs to exist as it is to prevent some evil befalling the nation. The result is little more than another eventuality typical of Communist regimes; the wider Communist leadership cadre turn upon their leader and pin the blame on this one person for the failure of the system. "No," they say, "It is not the nation's fault, nor is it Communism's fault. It is all the fault of Enrique Vincente." A cry which rings all the more hollow when one observes the method of his removal and the resulting, pitiful, efforts to maintain a tottering regime. Any who still view Veleaz as a tangible threat to anything other than itself could be counted as fools and Midrasia and her allies surely realise it. Unconditional surrender isn't necessary when the foe is so thoroughly defeated that it is like to simply fold back in on itself.

Veleaz will go back to being the know-nothing backwater it was before the war. A land across a fortified border which exists more to imprison its own people than to keep out the foreign powers it knows could simply walk through it in a heartbeat. The more conscientious amongst us may gaze at the people of Veleaz with pity, but the majority will no doubt sit back with apathy and turn to more important and relevant concerns, such as poverty in nations which aren't inflicting a pauper's life on their people by design, or who will win the Copa. At this point Veleaz is riding the zenith of its fame, once the peace is concluded it will return to the footnotes until next time some 'crazed' dictator convinces them a war would be a good idea.

Presidential troops seize cargo ship in relation to San Rodrigo battle
Image
The ship CSFC Inaco, which was yesterday seized by La Merna's men

Nuevo Norte Tolvas- After the San Rodrigo shootout of a few days ago was confirmed to have connections with the drug cartels and the Columbian Shipping & Freight Co., just yesterday in an armed raid, men of the informal private army known as the Presidential Guard, created by President La Merna shortly after he won the election of 2014, raided the CSFC ship Inaco, reportedly because of a "drug threat". The raid occurred between 9:30 AM and 1:30 PM on July 17, beginning when a group of 31 Presidential Guardsmen, led by former marine Captain Jose Mercada, approached the ship from different angles. One team of 11 came at the ship underwater, then scaling the hull to be the first on deck. This team was met with armed oppisition causing the injury of one Inaco crewman and one Guardsman. Just minutes after, another group led by Captain Mercada came aboard swiflty via the gangplank, apprehending security, causing the serious injury of one crewman, who took a bullet in the leg for punching Mercada. Another group of nine, came out of a container that had been loaded on just prior to the raid. The "Cebragan horse" method led to the last of security among the containers and the rest of the ship being apprehended. Mercada secured the bridge, being forced to shoot and kill a bridge officer who produced a gun and shot a Guardsman. The container group then secured the belowdecks, with the support of the first group to come aboard via scaling, and injured to opponents, also taking one injury and one casualty, a Guardsman was knifed by a engine-man from around a sharp corner. The man has been executed.

After the ship was fully secured there was not much more resistance. Those crewmen and officers arrested were escorted off the ship, and the wharf where it was anchored was secured by Novalz Policia in what was called a National security matter scene. The crewman and officers of the Inaco were taken to Nuevo Tolvas Policia Building, and have been reportedly questioned and detained over what the President is calling a "drug matter in relation to the events that took place in the CSFC warehouse in San Rodrigo the other day." The report released by the Office of the President said that ODIDE and SR Policia had uncovered that CSFC were indeed present at their warehouse. The statement said that the Delvista Cartel, a smaller cartel based in Grande Headlan, and notoriously suspected to be connected with La Merna, approached CSFC for a "trade of illegal substance, weapons, and of course, money", and the deal has practiclly gone through when the CSFC agents reportedly closed negotiations, saying they'd be taking all the goods and capital offered by the cartel, proclaiming a racket. Just seconds after this, armed elements suspected to be the Presidential Guard themselves (although officially claimed as armed members of the anti-CSFC Veljoan Cartel) stormed the warehouse and escalated a firefight as CSFC armored mercenaries from Tropic Sun Security Consulting. The Government has made no statement about the Delvista or Veljoan cartels, only saying that CSFC were attempting totally illegal actions, and being a registered company they needed to be investigated. What the cost of "investigation" really three lives?

The Columbian Shipping & Freight Company has vividly rejected all allegations over what has been a nightmare for the company over the last night. They have said that the raid of their ship and killing of two of their crew members is an attack by the government upon a company that has been freely registered in Colerva. The CSFC has called the government corrupt and in league with organizations like the Delvista Cartel. Tropic Sun has been called in in number, with heavy military grade equipment, to protect almost all CSFC ships. CSFC released one of several statements over the last 30 hours saying they were "prepared to fight back" if the government investigation continued on the same level of hostility. CSFC has complained to the CDN that their rights have been violated as a corporation, and that military action was not at all neccesary. Theorists have jumped on this event, with a common conspiracy circulating that La Merna and his network of corruption and criminality is cooperating with the Delvista Cartel, who requested for La Merna to take firm action against CSFC in revenge for the company's actions in San Rodrigo. Theories also say that La Merna was intent on silencing people related to the incident, with the bridge officer that was killed being present and possibly in command of the San Rodrigo "operation". Whatever theories circulate, what the government says must have some degree of accuracy and truth, so we can believe what we hear. The Inaco has been reportedly bought by La Merna Enterprises, and will become Juan P. La Merna when repainted in a few months. This is Tiempos de Colerva.

"THE PROLETARIAT MUST PERSEVERE IN VELEAZ" KOPEČNÝ DECLARES
President Vojtěch Kopečný states that "imperialism is not inevitable" in the occupied nation
Image
President Kopečný speaking to members of the Socialist Veskoslov Youth Union

Mirokov- President of the State Council Vojtěch Kopečný at a meeting of the Socialist Veskoslov Youth Union today declared that he was to show "full solidarity" with recent comments made by Veleazan Commissariat Representatives Antonio Bardem, Gabino Verdú, and Pablo Almagro hinting towards revolutionary resistance to the Midrasian-led Coalition occupation troops in the country.

"The proletariat must persevere in Veleaz. There are some in this country who would disagree, but the fact is that imperialism in not inevitable in our brother nation. The fire of revolution still burns brightly, and must do so for the sake of international socialism".

"Traitors have sought to divide us from our comrades...we must not listen to their short sighted appeasement. We must be firm in support of the people's revolutionary consciousness and stand against the running dogs of capitalism".

The speech by Kopečný was positively received by his audience, many of whom shared the president's view that counter-revolutionaries within the government were working against the international revolution by attempting to maintain neutrality over the issue of Veleaz.

"We see President Kopečný calling for international solidarity, but so many of our leaders have ignored the Veleazan proletariat or even tried to appease the imperialists Tomáš Bobošíková, one of those who listened to the speech said. "For the sake of international socialism the party must listen to President Kopečný and correct its course to support the international revolution, anti-reactionaryism and anti-imperialism."

These sentiments seemingly contradict the current foreign policy of the government of premier Waldemar Ołdakowski, who following the ceasefire between Midrasia and Veleaz pledged to "recognise and respect the current situation in regards to the the People's State of Veleaz", despite rhetorical support for our fellow revolutionary nation following the start of the hostilities. Indeed, as a result of the ceasefire Ołdakowski has stated that Veskoslovia needs to come to an "accommodation" with imperialist forces.

Kopečný's comments come a month before the extraordinary session of the Veskoslov Socialist Workers' Party's congress that has been called by First Secretary Lubomír Sobotka to discuss the current state of international socialism following the surrender of Veleaz. It is likely that both the issue of whether to recognise the post-occupation authority in Veleaz and on further revolutionary policy in external affairs will be decided at the congress.

Kojo cleared of wrongdoing as HEART admits to publicity stunt

HEART to face possible charges, sources say, while critics say the stunt highlights flaws with government oversight
By Basim Atuf, Senior Staff Writer

KUNTA, ONZA - The Congressional committee formed to investigate allegations made by Humans for Ethical Action in Response to Terrorism, better known as HEART, has officially cleared former president Xolani Kojo of any wrongdoing. The announcement came just minutes prior to the publication of a post on HEART's website explaining that the initial report was, in fact, a publicity stunt aimed at calling attention to the group's mission.

Since May, Congress had been investigating the allegations detailed in a 21 May report that suggested the former president authorized illegal treatment of detainees accused of crimes pertaining to terrorism. The report appeared to name specific individuals who were tortured, as well as contained video footage that appeared to originate from a hidden government facility. It also contained internal documents that circulated among the Ivory Tower and the Office of Valuable Intelligence, though most were later determined to have been falsified, with the few that were authentic having nothing to do with the allegations.

"The committee spent an extensive amount of time painstakingly reviewing every detail of the report, which was nearly 1000 pages in length and contained over 3500 falsified documents," Senator Shamil Faraj, who headed the special committee, said. "We approached this issue granting legitimacy to a group that identified itself as an authentic international human rights watchdog. In recent weeks, our findings began to point more and more to this whole thing being a hoax, and when we confronted HEART about it, they owned it with their online post."

The online post detailed how the organization used a large number of otherwise insignificant documents, convincingly doctored videotapes, and false witnesses to "pad" the report with "sprinkles of authenticity" in the pursuit of "captivating national attention for as long as possible so as to ensure [HEART's] mission would get the maximum amount of attention possible." The organization also said that it would "happily turn over the names of the specific individuals responsible for the report" to law enforcement as a show of confidence in the legality of their actions. "We are quite confident that we have broken no laws," the post stated.

The outcome of the investigation has prompted criticism from many who opposed the creation of the committee from the beginning, as well as some who initially supported it but later called for its abolition when the Kunta Chronicle reported in June that the investigation was being stonewalled. "Many of us suspected from the beginning that this report was nothing veracious," Senator Musa Noureddine said in a statement about the fiasco. "Seeing it come to this type of outcome -- where the pranksters get the attention they were vying for -- it is safe to say that today is a dark day for the Onzaian government, and one that I hope will inspire a review at the broad power of lawmakers to form expensive committees to pursue fruitless witch hunts."

Others, however, have defended the Committee. "I think the saying, 'better safe than sorry,' should be on people's' minds right about now," Senator Halim Chi, who was not on the committee, said in a statement. "It is important that we take allegations as specific and as substantiated as these very seriously, even if the conclusion does nothing more than dispel the facade."

HEART has been no stranger to controversy, and many critics of the investigation noted this in their statements of opposition to the committee's creation. The organization first made headlines back in December 2017 when an op-ed penned by one of its members in the Kunta Chronicle called for then-nominee Mustapha Ihejirika to grant amnesty to the terrorists charged in connection to the murder of president-elect Akbar Saab in the 19 August attacks. Later, they protested at the inauguration ceremony of president Ihejirika with signs calling him "heartless" and alleging that he would increase the use of drones in conflict with neighboring nations.

"Some on the committee had their suspicions from the beginning," said Senator Lutfi Mahmud, a committee member. "Next time, we should all try to be like them."

Anti-Government Protests in Sefidistan Province
Image
Police special forces officers patrol Lashkar Gah

Lashkar Gah Anti-government protests broke out throughout Sefidistan Province in northern Dayganistan today. Sefidistan is home to large numbers of Ostrovians who had come to the region in the distant past and converted to Irsad as Dayganistan asserted its control, but today make up just under half of the population of the province.

The Ostrovians of Sefidistan Province claimto have a variety of grievances with the Daygani government. They claim the mineral wealth extract from the mountains of the region, which have allowed the regional administrative center, Lashkar Gah to expand from a town with a military base to a modern metropolis, has not fairly benefited their community. They also claim the Daygani government is attempting to prevent the use of the Ostrovian language in the region through mandating Dari as the only language of instruction in schools. Sefidistan Ostrovians also demand an apology for alleged mistreatment during a period from the 1940s to the 1990s when they were suspected of having ties to communism. Today, the Daygani Ostrovians also claim that through their protests they are the only people standing up to what they believe is a dictatorship following the appointment of Aryana Zahir as president nearly two months ago.

As of this moment, protests continue throughout the province, turning violent as protestors confront riot police with stones, blunt weapons, and, according to eyewitness reports, firebombs. Fearing an escalation of violence and the possibility of illegal armed groups appearing among the protestors, police special forces have been deployed around important infrastructure in the regional center of Lashkar Gah and army units based in Sefidistan Province have been placed on standby.

More details will be provided as the situation continues.

Major protests and resignations follow deadly protests, dozens dead and hundreds injured over two days of violence.

Image

A series of protests were violently put down by government forces. On the morning of July 24th protestors affiliated with the Communist Party of the Autonomous Socialist Republic of Vynozhia marched in the town of Grinka. The organizer of the demonstration, Kiril Havrylyuk led a group of 400 people through the town carrying communist banners and symbols, some members were also carrying effigy of current Provisional President Dragoslav Afanasyev depicting him being hanged. “Were here not to just express our political positions, but to condemn criminality and to condemn this illegal act.” He said as the group stopped in the small farming town. The groups intent was to caravan to Rhyzevskygrad only 25km away. However as the protestors made there way into the city Police in riot gear met the group and attempted to disperse the group. After initial contact the police and protestors the situation turned violent after clashes. 32 protestors were injured and 3 injured police officers.

Contact was broken for multiple hours for riot officers to reorganize and to set up a strategy for future encounters. During this time a group of armed people claiming to belong to a group calling itself “Popular Volunteer Corps” entered the town. Initially residents reported that the group was mostly peaceful, some say they thought they were themselves protestors. However the group then started to go around and ask people how they felt about the Provisional Government. Then members of the PVK entered homes of those who gave answers that seemed critical of the Provisional Government and killed those they felt were opposed to the Provisional Government. 27 protestors and 12 residents were killed before police could intervene. A firefight broke out between PVK members and Police leaving a total of 36 dead and 173 injured as the town was taken taken back by police overnight.

Captain Andry Nytakrinkov who lead the riot police against both the PVK and protestors said that the incident was “politically motivated.” However he could not say if the group acted independently or on the orders of other groups. The PVK had been recently established by locals to officially “To maintain law and order through communal policing and protection.” The PVK have operated as a minor paramilitary for months up until this event. The government has officially condemned the incident. In solidarity with the victims of the attack the members of the Constitutional Assembly associated with the Communist Party of the Autonomous Socialist Republic of Vynozhia walked out of a preliminary vote on a current draft of the constitution, leaving the Assembly without a quorum. Members of the lose Democratic Communist Coalition also left the assembly in protest. Hours later Afanasyev used his authority to change the Quorum law thus allowing proceedings to continue. The following hours at least 9,000 soldiers were reported as AWOL throughout military bases in Vynozhia after political leaders called for general protests against the Provisional Government.

Gennady Glukhev, Secretariat of the Communist Party of the Autonomous Socialist Republic of Vynozhia Organized a rally for protesting members of the Communist party against Communist officials allied to Afanasyev. “We will not standby as our values as a state and as a people are being molested by these ambitious autocratic whores.” Glukhev said to a crowd of Protestors. Workers, party members and even soldiers made up the crowd as it grew in size in the heart of Rhyzevskygrad. The protests reached roughly 10,000 who mostly congregated in Arzamasskov Square. After the speech several defected soldiers marched with flags, these flags were flags of the People’s Radical Insurrectionary Army of Mylacheneskya, a revolutionary military group fought during the Vynozhian Revolution. The Radical Insurrectionary Army was absorbed by the Vynozhian communist party late in the Revolution and in 1934 the flag and iconography of the organization was banned.

Afterwards Glukhev and a member of the military, Podpolkovnik Isof Zeldovich met in the city. Police Surrounded the building they were meeting in sent to arrest Zeldovich as he had officially gone AWOL. The two came out on a balcony to a mix of protests and police. Zeldovich and Glukhev announced the creation of the “Revolutionary Committees” as a new opposition force to the Vynozhian Communist Party. Stating the intention of the group was to “Advocate for a real communist society and to combination revisionary thought.” Upon giving this statement Zeldovich was arrested by police. Protestors engaged with police and shots were fired by both protests and police injuring 7 as Zeldovich was brought into custody. Later in the day members of the Democratic Communist Coalition Artyom Sychra and Izaak Trachtenberg officially announced that they would also break from the Communist Party and establish the Council of Unified Democratic Opposition. They would eventually be joined by Polkovnik of Aviation Yulia Dostoevskaya as she announced her official resignation from the military.

President of the Provisional Government Dragoslav Afanasyev said that “A moment of national unity is needed for the future of our state and of our people.”He however left the meeting very quickly afterwards.

MIDRASIA FIRST LEADER UNDER FIRE FOR RACIST CHIRP

Image
Mr Foucalt indicated that he had no idea the term he used was deeply offensive
towards Ajerris

Lotrič, Midrasia - Midrasia First leader Claude Foucault has come under fire for racist language he used on the online messaging service Chirper. The chirp came after Midrasia's 5-0 win over Ajerrin in the 2018 Copa d'Aeia, putting the team into the final of the tournament. The message, which has since been removed read: "5-0, take that you Kawanguex!', Kawangeux being a racist term used to refer to the Kawanakan people which make up the majority of the Ajerri people. Mr Foucault has since defended his actions, stating that "there was no intent" behind them and that he had "no idea the term was so deeply offensive". Since then, Mr Foucault has been temporarily suspended from Chirper, whilst a number of groups, notably the Society of Ajerri Expats in Midrasia, who have called for Mr Foucault to resign. On the contrary, a number of people have since come out in support for the Midrasia First leader, calling the chirp "a joke" and stating that this outrage is all much ado about nothing.

The term 'Kawangeux' has a long history, though its origins come from the early Midrasian colonisation of Savai when the term came into usage to refer to the native inhabitants of the easternmost section of the continent. The term, derived from Kawanaka initially described Ajerri's as unclean, beggars and dullards. This combined with the Oriental Companies' kidnapping of Kawankan people as forced labour for a select number of colonies within the region led the term to be greatly resented by many of the Ajerri people. This was only further emboldened when the term entered popular discourse through the great migrations to Midrasia which took place in the first half of the twentieth century. Speaking on the matter, a spokesperson for Ajerri expats in Midrasia stated: "This horribly racist language has no place in modern Midrasia, let alone coming out of the mouth of one of its elected politicians. Today Midrasians and Ajerris stand hand in hand as equals, this sort of language and attitude does nothing but divide and exclude others. I call for all upstanding citizens to condemn the actions of Mr Foucault, and I will be personally calling for his resignation as an elected Senator." After the suspension of Mr Foucault's Chirper account, a representative from the site issued a statement: "We here at Chirper have a zero-tolerance policy towards online racist abuse. As a result, we have suspended Mr Foucalt's account, pending review."
Image
The Chirp in question

Many however are choosing to stand by Mr Foucault, with a spokesperson from Midrasia First stating that the Chirp was made "in jest" and "was not directed at any member of the Ajerri community". Additionlly, the party representative also went on to state: "This is such a none issue, Mr Foucault stated that he had no idea the term was so offensive and was made unintentionally. This is just another example of the social justice warriors and liberal elites in our society and media trying to enforce their agenda of political correctness. As free Midrasian citizens, we have the right to free speech, to say anything we like, whatever it may be." Despite the suggestion that Mr Foucault's comments fall under the Constitution's Free Speech Clause, it is entirely possible that Mr Foucault could be charged under the Public Order Act of 1994 which prohibits the incitement of racial hatred. No such charges have yet been made, and the Ajerri government and football team is yet to make a statement on the matter; though the Society of Ajerri Expats in Midrasia has stated that it is "considering its options."

Government falls on last day prior to summer recess

Image

The last vote of the Muntaia before it starts its summer recess has turned out to be a disaster. The governing coalition, which relied on volatile support from Hobeko, lost a vote of no confidence started by a Labour Party (former Elkarrekin) MP with 94 votes for withdrawing confidence and 79 against. A new election writ has been issued by the National Agency for Elections.
The next election will be one of the most hotly contested elections in recent history, with several changes in the party system including the collapse of the Democrats and the Social Party and the creation of new big powers such as Renew Brilliania, the Labour Party and Zubi Híd - Interethnic Bridge Party.

Lehendakari Haran Elexalde has posted on Chirper about the collapse, saying he wishes strong results for Renew Brilliania. In current polls, Renew Brilliania is leading in the polls with the Labour Party coming close. Current predictions show 65~70 seats for Renew Brilliania and 60~67 seats for Labour.

Meanwhile on the streets of Brilliania, many people are shocked by the sudden collapse.
One of our journalists, which asked some locals in a cafe in Martirien Herria, got several divided responses.
A elderly male responded: "I was shocked to hear the parliament fell at the latest possible date. It's a bit tiring to go to the polls again, but it will help."
An emigrant from a neighbouring country, which lived for years in Brilliania, said: "It's unusual that a new election is needed. In my home country, it's only needed if there is no chance to make a new coalition."

The election will be held on the 15th August.

Brenzhem experiencing the hottest summer since 1923

A dried-up river in the Ballenbach region of South-central Brenzhem, on July 18
SPIELFELD-Brenzhem - The capital city of the canton Ballenbach, located near the border of Veskoslovia is one of the worst hit regions from this scorching July summer.

While many visitors to Brenzhem are enjoying this warm weather spell, the enviornment is suffering from this heat in the form of below average water levels, and a high risk of forest fires. Many local authorities are starting to take action.

Ballenbach in Southern Brenzhem on Monday became the most recent canton to ban making fires in or near forests. Several cantons imposed such a ban over the past week, and rain over the weekend hasn’t relieved locals in Southern Brenzhem. The authorities in canton Hessel said they saw light and short showers, justifying a ban on fire that will come into effect on Friday. They added that the abnormal dry spell for this time of year required special measures, saying the topsoil in numerous areas was very dry, as well as trees were showing symptoms of stress, with discoloured leaves and fruit having to be disposed of.

On Tuesday, Ballenbach also imposed a complete ban on fireworks on August 1, Republic Day. Hessel and other southern cantons had motioned similar bans.

Water shortages

In addition to these risks, the public have been asked to save water, as lakes and rivers are considerably below average for this time of year. Hosepipes are still yet to be mentioned, but people have been encouraged to not wash cars, water their gardens, or fill private swimming pools.

The Federal Office for the Environment said the low water levels seen in various smaller and medium-sized rivers was to be expected only every five years. The flow rates of the Aare, Rees and Dermacht – all big rivers – were near their lowest levels for the season. Lake Plauer, Lake Zern, Lake Olten and Lake Birr are all at a low level.

However, the situation is not a concern everywhere in Brenzhem. The Northern, more mountainous regions bordering Heuvelberg and Pruvaria have been enjoying rains, which is normal for this time of the year in these regions.

BREAKING: State of Truth-aligned militants storm city in Tangkuo
2018.07.26 Alydian | by Zhang Han

Photo of vehicle entering Tunbao released by SoT media

Militants with loyalty to the State of Truth have seized control of Tunbao, a county level city in southern Tangkuo today (2018.07.26), after little fighting.

Official media of the State of Truth as well as reports by local police and security forces have confirmed this, combined with testimonials by residents of the city using social media.

The attack marks perhaps the boldest military action of the State of Truth in Tangkuo since an 2016 assault on the county-level city of Baoming.

Tunbao, a city with 988,765 residents as of the latest census, is only 40 km away from the capital of a southern province of Tangkuo. Founded on the site of Tangkuoan border posts with Qyred in the 19th century that lent it its name, its residents are mostly employed in agriculture, and the town has 2 Observatories. A number of national railways of Tangkuo pass through the city and a small regional airstrip is present too.

The apparent value of this settlement makes the audacious SoT assault not to be taken lightly.

AI-collated official and online accounts have been able to construct a narrative of the events that transpired in the town. In the morning, at around 08:40, near the end of the breakfast period for locals, bombs were set off near police stations and abandoned buildings, followed by the appearance of 'hundreds' of masked gunmen in the streets, who were seen attacking gathered policemen and government-sanctioned militias.

The gunmen seemed to have been sleeper agents of the SoT with some being identified as colleagues and neighbours by ordinary civilians. An abandoned warehouse in the outskirts is believed to have been the weapons storage facility from where the militants retrieved and distributed their arms.

A number of car bombs were set off at around 10:15 killing dozens and destroying parts of the town hall. Militiamen gathered to respond to the attack but were overwhelmed by militants using pipe bombs and other improvised explosives. The town hall was captured at 11:10 while officials were evacuated by car.

Security forces were disoriented and confused, many fleeing their positions or surrendering. Fighting largely subsided after 13:00, though gunfire was still reported as a number of police attempted to break out.

Simultaneous with the fighting in the city itself towns nearby were captured by SoT militants, who controlled those points to deny government forces supply to units in the city, and to surprisingly intercept retreating militias. However it was reported at 15:40 one nearby town held by the militants was retaken by pro-government militiamen.

Nevertheless all government presence had been expelled from the city. Only a small number of citizens were able to be evacuated as much of the locality is under SoT control, which was declared quickly on SoT media websites.

The SoT claims that 50 government fighters and policemen were killed while sustaining only 8 combat deaths. Meanwhile, Tangkuoan local authority reports 15 police and militia deaths. Tangkuoan police estimated the number of militants that partook in the uprising to be 800.

The SoT has declared its control of the Tunbao airport and rail stations on social media.

There have also been unconfirmed reports starting in noon that SoT vehicle columns were departing from bases in SoT territory proper towards north. If they are true, the attack represents a coordinated and very significant offensive. A number of garrisoned towns stand between the city and SoT territory which may be threatened soon.

Numerous personalities and authorities have expressed outrage and shock at the ease of the fall of the city. "This is terrible," addressed the local provincial governor on social media. Questioning of ability of government forces have risen up in response to the rapid and overwhelming reports of the city's fall.

Pro-government militias and armed police forces have been mobilizing near Tunbao to prepare for a counterattack and a response by the armed forces is underway.

BREAKING: SoT forces begin assault in Tunbao direction
2018.07.27 Alydian | by Zhang Han
Image
SoT tank similar to ones spotted in fighting by photographs and eyewitness accounts

Both SoT media and Tangkuoan security forces have confirmed that the SoT is initiating an offensive in the direction of Tunbao, where its militants have recently seized control unexpectedly after an uprising.

Beginning at around 11:40 of 2018.07.26 an artillery barrage consisting of mortars and tank fire shelled small towns that stood between SoT territory and Tunbao city. The towns were assaulted by SoT infantry and armor shortly after.

Moving under cover of night and artillery fire, large numbers of SoT infantry approached Tangkuoan militia positions from numerous directions, and provided effective suppressive fire using squad automatic weapons as riflemen approached and seized the objectives.

The unexpected ferocity of the assault, as accounted by several militiamen and soldiers, led to the quick overwhelming of positions before the Tangkuoan forces could regroup.

Defenses toughened at the towns of Tanzhuang, Niucun, and Zhaozhen, where the SoT advance was halted, nevertheless Tangkuoan forces continued to lose ground and sustain losses.

Use of incendiary munitions created large fires in towns the militias attempted to entrench in allowing easy reference points for artillery in the dark. Fires were also used for cover by advancing SoT infantry.

State of Truth tanks, which appear to be older models without much upgrades, became a pillar of the offensive's fire support, but were also used directly to overcome fortifications and opposing armor.

Tangkuoan troops claim 160 SoT militants killed and 10 vehicles destroyed while sustaining 40 killed and 180 injuries. The SoT has claimed to inflict 700 casualties with only 100 on their own side.

Heavy fighting is going on in Tanzhuang, Zhaozhen, Bingli and Dezheng. Niucun was captured by the SoT at 06:20.

A spokesperson from the local Tangkuoan anti-terrorist command has declared that "a complete effort is being made to counter the attack" even though "the situation is not in [Tangkuoan] favor".

This assault is most likely to link up with the uprising in Tunbao to reinforce it from a government counterattack. With a transport hub seized, supply and support of the isolated forces will be very difficult, a tactic that has characterized SoT-affiliated fronts' operations on numerous occasions in Qyred since 2010.

It is uncertain if this is the opening stage of a larger offensive in Tangkuo.

Tunbao and Other Cities Seized By Militants; Army Mobilised
By Sïaoha Telin

The seizure of Tunbao, one of Tangkuo's southernmost cities, has been met with shock in the Hundred-Strong Council, as authorities scramble to counterattack the dangerous militants. The capture of the city and the subsequent defeats in the battles of Tanzhuang, Zhaozhen, Bingli and Niucun, has served as an embarrassment on now-former Minister of the Armies Udur Hasaiæ, who resigned due to pressure in the Hundred-Strong Council not long after the capture of Tunbao. The State of Truth, a radical sect of Cotrism, has reportedly been carrying out
several purges in the captured cities, as official SoT media reports the executions of prominent intellectuals. Also recorded is the widespread press-ganging of teenagers and young men, forced to fight for the rogue state. The new Minister of the Armies, Jau Andahai, had this to say on the situation:

"We are currently making efforts to contain the situation as best we can. Obviously the speed and skill of which the militants had entered Tangkuo had been severely underestimated, which allowed this tragedy to occur. We had not received much on the State of Truth beforehand, due to our isolation. I cannot disclose much on what we plan to do, but rest assured, we will not rest until these cities and towns have been taken back, the innocent blood spilled avenged, and their dangerous ideology purged from Tangkuo."

The Hundred-Strong Council, led by recently passed an emergency measure, supported by the Emperor, that allowed authorities to detain anyone suspected of being a State of Truth militant. Chancellor Aišïn Gæcïbuhua insists that these measures "are keeping more lives from being murdered." and states that he has "full confidence in the army of being able to rectify this grave situation.".In the Hundred-Strong Council, the finger of blame has been pointed at some of the most prominent reactionaries and isolationists within the Council, including those that supported maintaining Tangkuo's isolation. If Tangkuo had gone out of isolation earlier, the voices of blame, many of whom support the loosening of age-old restrictions reasoned, than it would have become more aware of the threat. The reactionaries, including Minister of Internal Stability, Ugueisun Haæu, fired back, stating that "those that seek to undermine Tangkuo have come out in the open to lay such blame, obviously seeking to advance their own interests at the expense of the country."

The Minister of the Armies, Jau Andahai, has ordered the army to mobilize across most of Southern Tangkuo, including deploying the Guardians of the Palace of Heavenly Purity, a reserve military force sworn to defend the Empire of Tangkuo. According to some of the most recent reports, small groups of soldiers have succeeded in halting the vanguard force of the State of Truth militants, but they are unsure as to how long they can keep them pinned down. The airforce is also currently providing support to these small groups of soldiers, bombing militants on the roads leading out of Tunbao, but they are encountering some resistance. The army is currently expected to be fully mobilised within a matter of weeks, but the speed of the State of Truth militants is expected to keep Tangkuo surprised.

Sefidistan unrest continues, armed forces deployed
Image
Special operations soldiers ride on a truck to the city of Gulbahar

Lashkar Gah Protests in Sefidistan Province has escalated as the city of Gulbahar, a city of approximately 100,000 inhabitants, was seized by an illegal militia linked to the protests carried out by the Ostovian population in the northern province. The illegal militia was equipped with a combination of black market weapons and firearms stolen from Daygani military and police, and is believed to include a majority of the army reserve personnel based in the city, which includes an under strength light infantry company and an artillery battery.

Police special forces were deployed as reports of armed men emerged from the city yesterday. While they were able to establish footholds in the outlying neighborhoods, police special forces faced resistance which did not allow them to advance further into the city. The drastic decision was made earlier today to deploy the armed forces in order to retake the city, with forces consisting of special forces and elite light infantry. The deployment of mechanized and armored units was ruled out, as President Zahir expressed her desire that the city be liberated with as little disruption to civilian life as possible. The Daygani Air Force has also been mobilized in order to drop leaflets warning the civilian population of an impending military operation and perform reconnaissance flights over the city. The limited use of precision air strikes within the city has not been ruled out.

The military has confirmed that their forces, alongside police special forces, have begun their assault on the city during the night. However, no further details on how much progress has been made has been released. We will continue to provide details as they become available to the public.
