National News SummaryTaoiseach Condemns Violence in Rhuritania, Calls For Alternative Action
In her first direct reference to the situation in Rhuritania the Taoiseach, Líadáin Síomha, today condemned the outbreak of violence in the troubled country and called upon those nation involved in the intervention there to exercise restraint. Appearing before a joint session in parliament the Taoiseach used her considerable political influence to gain approval for plan of action to deal with the crisis.
"The situation in Rhuritania is of great concern. The sudden outbreak of hostilities between the different Rhuritanian factions as the democratic process breaks down there is deeply troubling and I must wholeheartedly condemn the actions of those involved. Conflict of this nature between citizens of the same nation should never be considered an option and I can only express my gravest disappointment in those responsible. However my feelings of disappointment and condemnation cannot be limited to the leaders of Rhuritania alone; the rapid decision of an external force to enter the country and intervene is just as shocking. That a coalition of supposedly democratic nations can feel that it is their right to intervene so readily in the affairs of another state worries me, not least for the precedent that this action sets. Will every nation now be liable to foreign interference in their affairs the moment order breaks down? While it can certainly be understood why this action was taken I do not believe that the implications were fully considered beforehand."
"In any event what has been done has been done and no amount of condemnation or complaint will change this, therefore my proposed plans take account of the changing situation and the involvement of foreign powers in what is intrinsically a complex and uniquely Rhuritanian matter. I met with a joint session of parliament just moments ago where a proposed plan to resolve this crisis was passed by a significant margin. This plan officially calls for a ceasefire and invites representatives from the major parties involved, including the leadership of the Rhuritanian factions, to attend a summit in Aurharbwr to peacefully discuss the crisis and, I hope, come to a diplomatic solution. I cannot stress how critical it is that we set a firm precedent for the future which avoids unnecessary bloodshed and trampling over the rights of sovereign nations. Tir Lhaeraidd has no vested interest in the outcome as we have no significant relations with the Rhuritanian nation; furthermore we have no involvement in this crisis."
"I urge all participants to consider this offer for mediation in a neutral setting sincerely."

Crylante narrowly votes for CDN observership
In a tight referenda today, the Crylantian Federation voted to become an observer state in a close referenda, with 52.7% of the population, more in the West, voting to join, while 47.3% of the population, mostly in the East, voted not to join. In a statement, Mylene De Raya, a Green Party advisor for Trade, stated that "the agreement would not mean an end to Crylantian neutrality", and that "Crylante's involvement in the agreement would be only for economic purposes". The front page of The Goat, however, had a large headline on the front proclaiming "THE DEATH OF CRYLANTIAN NEUTRALITY", criticizing Crylante's perceived self-alignment with an international faction, even if only for economic purposes. The agreement would give Crylante a non-voting representative on the Council and Assembly to speak for Crylante, and a free trade agreement between Crylante and the CDN, although no military commitments will be included in the deal.
The nation has decided to send the aforementioned Mylene De Raya as its representative to the Council, and Helle Solberg, a moderate Independent politician hailing from the town of Florø, Stavrup, as its representative to the Assembly. Mylene De Raya was chosen collectively by the Federal Department for Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade, and is thought to sit with the Green Movement block, while Helle Solberg is thought to sit as a Non-Inscrit, having won an approval vote against 16 other candidates marked with record numbers of spoilt ballots.
In other news, Jenný Anadottir, currently in the Glanish city of Vænholm for a conference on regional co-operation, has expressed concern at the situation in Rhuritania, stating she hopes "that a peaceful, democratic solution that upholds the rights of the Rhuritanians can be found as soon as possible".

National News TodayArmed Forces Conduct Readiness Drills
All along the picturesque coast of Delfina the armed forces could be seen participating in drills. The Army and some elements of the Navy primarily focused on invasion preparations while the Air Force and other elements of the Navy took part in a war game simulation further out of engaging hostile forces. Large numbers, tens of thousands, of soldiers took part in today's events that were unannounced though this is not entirely uncommon whenever there are threats made by nations closer to home. The Navy and Air Forces operated within the Delfine territorial waters so as to not unnecessarily stray out into international waters or effect local shipping routes. Civilians of the Gem Coast Resorts were treated to seeing the military in action and the soldiers were seen mingling with the civilians. One unnamed officer said it almost felt like a vacation if you took away the guns and tanks. Indeed after the day's war games the soldiers were seen kicking back on the beaches and hitting the local night life scene.
This is a good example of how Delfina as a whole feels about the ongoing situation in Rhuritanian and the threats posed by Torroso to the south. The nation feels that while it should do preparations, it should also carry on with its day to day life so as to not disrupt the lives of the general public at this time. The Ministry of Defense said that there would be more war games tomorrow and then likely a third day before being assessed. The Regia also was seen at the coast today though she was at her private estate of Adriano which is a small island off the coast. A private estate which is also a hotel that she opened is there and whenever the Regia visits she has been known to host lavish parties but also work the front desk of the hotel. It is not known if Prince Ilien was with the Regia or back in Delphino.
In Delphino at a press conference the spokeswoman for the Ministry of Defense declined to comment on the involvement of Delfine ships in the Rhuritania matter or on the war games happening on the coast. The Ministry is quite well known for not divulging much information and indeed many in the press pool choose to skip their press conferences as they rarely yield anything substantial. The Ministry of Foreign Relations however stated that the Delfine ships were apart of a CDN task force and would operate as such. They too however were quiet about the war games.

National News SummaryConcerns as Emergency Health Care Provision Reaches Crisis Point
Concerns grew today as prominent opposition politicians in the Senedd addressed the mounting crisis in emergency health care provision, calling the government's approach to the National Health Provision a joke. The crisis in question is the severe shortage of staff in the emergency care sector of the health service with walk-in Accident and Emergency centres now hard pressed to adequately meet the demands placed upon them. Since the Taoiseach's election the crisis has only grown as demand for A&E services rises with no noticeable staffing increases. Cathal Ui Niamh, a leading opposition politician in the Senedd applauded the Taoiseach's policy successes with regard to Education and the provision of Prenatal, Postnatal, and Antinatal healthcare, but heavily criticised the fact that this seems to have come at the expense of other critical services. Most worrying, according to Ui Niamh is the fact the hospital waiting times are on the rise, and he questioned whether the Taoiseach had a firm grip on the situation and its consequences.
At the heart of the crisis appears to be the fact that no provision has been made within the health service for the provision of minor ailments services, essentially meaning that Accident and Emergency departments are having to cover everything from major injuries down to badly stubbed toes. The result of this fact appears to be the growing demand within the Senedd for increased government spending on the National Health Provision so that a minor ailments and non-emergency treatment service of some kind can be established and effectively staffed. In the meantime it seems that the government intends to push ahead with a program of incentives to try and increase the number of young people entering the medical profession so as to address staff shortfalls. This policy is another source of criticism for opponents of the current government who claim that it merely treats the symptoms of a wider issue.
Ui Niamh claims the if current government policy continues the entire National Health Provision could become financially unsustainable. "Major changes must be made not only in how the National Health Provision is run, but also in how it is structured. Furthermore the man or woman on the street needs to be educated on how and when emergency services should be used. What we are seeing here is a growing reliance by the public on emergency walk-in centres for minor ailments because of a relative lack of quick and accessible non-emergency services."

"Vvardeni Volunteers Rush Overseas To Take Part
in Rhuritanian Conflict"
Several hundred volunteers have already departed for Rhuritania to fight for the
many fractured factions that are trying to take control. Vvardeni authorities are
in the process of detaining those apprehended trying to leave, and states that
those that do return home from committing atrocities or backing what Vvarden
believes to be terrorist groups will be arrested.
"Parties Start To Merge In The Senate"
Vvardeni politics is becoming fiercely divided, some say, as various groups from
the left and the right are merging with their more extreme and radical siblings.
The most recent merger of parties was the Ovit Ton Paarti, a religious party
with a strong emphasis on tradition and centralised authority, which has
merged with the extremely authoritarian center-right DDSP, or the Dri Dren
Sathialms Paarti. The Suildeni Paarti has also recently merged with the
Kommunidaro Vvardeni Paarti or the KVP under Senator Nindas Malman-Ammu,
who is considered to be the main rival to the DDSP.

News from the Provisional Republic of the Araabyne
BREAKING: Colonel Andrew Viniers Surrenders to Arna Nguela at Fort Dennis
The sole remaining ArKav field commander, Colonel Andrew Viniers, has surrendered alongside the bulk of his force at Fort Dennis today following formal negotiations with Arna Nguela. After the formal surrender Coloniel Viniers ordered his men to stand down and surrender their arms resulting in the direct capture of some twenty five thousand men with much of their materiel; this leaves only five thousand ArKav fighters left holding out under the command of Richard Dawkins at Hett according to most estimates. The surrender of Colonel Viniers is yet another nail in ArKav's coffin with the final blow expected to come within days as fifty thousand ADF troops converge on Hett. Thus far Richard Dawkins, the leader of ArKav who instigated the coup against President van der Veld, has refused to surrender in the harshest terms and while it is now unclear whether or not he will be able to convince his remaining troops to fight to the end it is quite clear that this is what he intends to do.
Colonel Viners' surrender negotiations took place within the Fort Dennis Civic Court and lasted for about four hours. Upon emerging from the Court the Colonel announced that he had agreed to surrender on behalf of Army Group Charlie and read a prepared statement ordering his troops to lay down their arms. The terms of the surrender were that he and his troops were to be treated as PoWs and afforded such treatment as befits their status, that his soldiers were lay down all of their weapons and military equipment, and that those ArKav troops in the area who were not under Viniers' command be offered amnesty should they too surrender.
