With the 50th Anniversary of the Worldvision Song Contest approaching, the Polkopian National Broadcaster has decided to submit a formal bid to host the event, after narrowly losing out to Prescott, Electrum the previous edition. The PNB kicked off its search for the Worldvision 50 host city during the previous contest, and it was revealed that Peeto, Valinkova, Restnov, Dovgorodia, Galevo, and Scorilo have all submitted bids to host the contest. After taking proper accommodation and venues into account, it was revealed that Valinkova and Dovgorodia had to withdraw their bids for varying reasons, leaving the other four to 'battle' it out in the race to become Polkopia's candidate city. While Peeto and Restnov have the experience with hosting Worldvision, it was Scorilo who won the bid, and will become Polkopia's official candidate city to host the 50th anniversary of the Worldvision Song Contest.

Why Scorilo? Why Scorilo you ask? Because, for one, Scorilo is at the very heart of Polkopia! Looking at a map of Polkopia, you'll be able to see that it is only a short drive away from Peeto, Valinkova, or any other commercial hub in Polkopia. Furthermore, with a population of just under 750,000, Scorilo has a small-town feel, while boasting all the features of a major city including a regional airport, concert halls, museums, and just about anything you can imagine wrapped up in this gem of a city! Unlike the major Polkopian cities, however, Scorilo is home to a more traditional Polkopian lifestyle, and customs such as basket-weaving, glass-blowing, and leather-tanning can still be found at nearly every street corner.

Furthermore, Scorilo has some of the most historic sites in all of Polkopia! Just outside the city, visitors will be able to see all kinds of castles and fortresses from the medieval era which are top tourist attractions for anyone wanting to visit. For those wanting a bit more luxury in their sightseeing, look no further! Varun Palace is located only miles from downtown, and served as the secondary home to Polkopian royalty for centuries and centuries.

About The Area:

The state of Oroles is one of eleven states in the Allied States of Polkopia and is the 5th largest state in terms of size, while it's the 7th largest in terms of population. Oroles is home to the oldest recorded tribal settlements in the entire nation, which historians can trace back to around 750 B.C. Currently, Oroles is the maritime hub of Polkopia, with over thirty seven different seaports. Currently, three of these seaports are capable of receiving mega-sized cargo-ships, and is the only state in Polkopia with seaports able to do so.

Fishing is the largest industry in Oroles, employing over 75,000 Polkopians for jobs and sporting purposes. Tourism is Oroles' 2nd highest industry. In the past year, tourism income totaled $1.4 billion Polkopian dollars, a new record for Oroles, and the number is projected to grow in this nect year. The public has access to all beaches in Oroles, gold courses, and amusement parks within the state. The state's most popular amusement park is Clover Canyon located in the state capital, Scorilo.

The proposed venue, or arena, in this case, for the 50th Worldvision Song Contest is the Icicle Arena. The proposed venue has just finished construction and is currently suited to host Worldvision. Once the event is over, however, the arena will be remodeled to host FC Baal in the Polkopia Premier League. Currently, the arena has a capacity of 89,000 spectators, and is located just along the outskirts of the Financial District of Scorilo. The Financial district also happens to be where most of the higher-end hotels are located, giving guests and performers an easy time getting from the hotel to the venue, and vice versa. Public transport will not be an issue either, as every bus, subway, and monorail system in Scorilo makes a stop within a block from the arena itself.

Image

The stage has been custom-designed by a local Polkopian architect and has all the features you could ask for in a Worldvision stage. The stage features three different LED screens in the back as well as an LED floor. This gives performers to make the most out of the few minutes that they have on stage. Furthermore, the stage also comes equipped with three pools in the front as well as jet fountains, pyrotechnics, and laser lights that are all located within the pools. The side pools each have five outlets where these effects can be produces, whereas the front pool has seven. The four columns on stage also come equipped with these outlets, along with confetti, fog, snow, and nearly any other projection that the performer sees fit. These can be dispensed at any time during the performance and can last as long as the entire performance. Another feature of the stage is the center. There are three different circular platforms that can rise up from the center stage. Different views of the stage can be found here, here, here, and here.

Image

The Greenroom is designed so that participants from all different nations can interact with one another while they're waiting for the show to be over. The proposed greenroom style features space for nine participants per nation, and free drinks will be provided via drawers located underneath the center table. Participants will also have the opportunity to watch the current performer live. The greenroom is located in the middle of the audience and will be sectioned off from the rest of the audience. Therefore, participants will be able to watch the show with or without the audience nearby, depending on their preferences.

Image

Although the song hasn't been revealed, the PNB has leaked that the opening act would consist of four women who have recently represented Polkopia. They are: Justina Vlašic who came 1st place in Worldvision 44, Branka Larisa who came 1st place in Worldvision 48, Oksana Babič who came 12th place in Worldvision 45, and Tatiana Agrafena who came 7th place in Worldvision 41. The only thing that is known about the opening act is that it will be a song consisting of all four of these women in an extravagant collaboration.

The Postcards

Image

The Postcards for the 50th edition of the Worldvision Song Contest are going to be vivid, yet going back to the basics of what a 'Postcard' actually is. The broadcasters of the participating countries will need to send one picture of a place in their respective nations to Polkopian National Broadcaster (Polkopia) and Polkopian artist, Luka Constantin will be constructing a vintage-style travel poster based on that image. The scene can be anything from a frozen, barren wasteland, to a bustling city, and anything in between, so long as it accurately sums up the nation in one picture!

The postcard itself will feature this location, as well as an onlooker, looking out to this scene in the distance. The person's clothing will be colored to match the corresponding nation's flag.

I'm really excited about these postcards, and they take me anywhere from 20 minutes to 30 minutes each to make. I know that's a bit much for postcards, but I'm also in the process of learning how to use different photoshop techniques, so I'd assume the last postcard would take a lot shorter. Thank you everyone, and I hope you like them!

I figured I'd spend extra time on these postcards, because for the 50th edition, effort should be spent on the postcards. I've learned how to use several designing tools to create these, just for the 50th anniversary, so I'm rather committed to these postcards. Furthermore, since I have no RL commitments until September, I'll be able to crank these out pretty fast.

This concludes Polkopia's bid for the 50th Worldvision Song Contest!

Normand Entry for WorldVision 50 Released
Listen Here

Are NNN in it to win it this year? This reports that this entry has been in waiting for years for the 50th contest, the biggest budget pumped into WorldVision by the broadcaster ever and a secret network of Normand producers and songwriters being revealed, it is no surprise some believe that Normandy and Picardy are aiming at a top 3, even another win, and in the 50th edition as well! Would they dare? Apparently, they do? And they have got the number one star of the Normand Dance-Pop scene Sophie Belevre (pictured above) to fly the flag wherever we end up this edition, singing the song "Dawn", which has apparently been in the pipelines since WV46, or even earlier if one of our sources it to be believed; they date it back to WV43, although that can't be true, no? Where Normandy and Picardy always planning to steal the show at the 50th contest? Who knows really, but a lot of effort has been put into this entry, which is markedly different from the last couple of entries that NNN have sent to the contest. However, with that style of entry Normandy and Picardy has consistently been in the Top 10; will this prove a risk too far?

NNN are quietly optimistic about there hopes, with hints of a belief of success filling the announcement given by the head of the WorldVision office Martin Oskbale, and amongst the general public there is a feeling of hope and the same belief shared by the broadcaster. The song has already reached Number 1 in the Normand Music Charts, become the fastest selling single in Normand history, which is remarkable when you consider songs by titans of Normand music like The Subtle Swords (Who gave Normandy and Picardy their first Top 10 placing, finishing 7th in WV36) and Saralmero (who is competing at WHF26), but Belevre herself is well known, which may prompt the huge support for her entry. And with such funding put into the song, who knows how much will be spent on promotion and staging as well. The song itself is rather simple in its premise; it recounts the story of a young, socially awkward girl as she gets dragged into Normand club culture, and loving her fears and inhibitions, yet also becoming aware that she is losing her personality to drinking and partying.

So, will the song do as well as NNN is billing, or will it flop? Who knows? It's up to the multiverse to decide...

MRCTV
presents

Image

With the 50th WorldVision Song Contest fast approaching, MRCTV decided to mark this anniversary edition with Mercedini's first ever national final, which is held in the Forcini Auditorium in Langtree, Mercedini. The show will be split 50/50 between an international jury and a public vote, with the public's points split between the artists based on their percentage of votes received. From a pool of around 650 songs submitted from Mercedini's budding musicians, a panel of expert judges and WorldVision fans have whittled down the competition down to 8 participants, who will sing live for the opportunity to represent Mercedini in the WorldVision Song Contest. Here are the songs hoping to be sung on stage at the 50th WorldVision Song Contest:

01 >> Syren ft. Melissa Darvon - What We've Been Through
Tune: Prince Fox ft. Hailee Steinfeld - Fragile

02 >> Andrea Corlovi & Zoloroni Philharmonic Orchestra - Nature's Symphony
Tune: Sylwia Grzeszczak feat. Sound'n'Grace - Kiedy tylko spojrzę

03 >> Death Signature ft. Le Ragazze Felici - Fusion
Tune: BABYMETAL - KARATE

04 >> 7Seas - Countdown
Tune: BTS - SAVE ME

05 >> Corine Alsomervic - One Condition
Tune: Zhanar Dugalova - Ayta bersín

06 >> Rachel Nollov - Be Somebody
Tune: Luna - Free Somebody

07 >> Gloria Anglidu - Forgot
Tune: Aziza Nizamova - Unut

08 >> Elle Borlaviac - Out Of Time
Tune: Jannine Weigel - Finish Line

To vote in Mercedini's national selection, please send a telegram to Mercedini stating the song title, artist and the amount of points you are giving to the song. Give 10pts to your favourite, then 8 for second, 6 for third, 4 for fourth and then 3 down to 1 for fifth to seventh. The song that finishes in eighth place receives no points from your nation. We hope you enjoyed the first edition of SongSearch, and we wish you good luck in the WorldVision Song Contest.

BREAKING NEWS!

ETV has officially confirmed that they will participate at the 50th WorldVision Song Contest, with the return of Pracibamian electronic duo Monochrome Haze with the song Come On, It's Me, taken from their upcoming EP Black and White Clouds (a collaboration with Shiner Beach-based art/experimental/jam punk band Children of God). In their last WorldVision attempt, all the way back in Polkopia for the 38th edition, Monochrome Haze came in 19th place with 54 points - with 12 points coming from Praciba - but was a fan favourite thanks to lead singer/bassist/what-have-you Mark Hanton's erratic dancing as well as him famously taking a selfie with the audience behind him. Will they manage to improve on that score? Will they even finish in the top ten for the first time in Elejamie's history? Or will they fail to improve on their performance in Peeto? Only time will tell...

Can I ask a question?

Although your city is in the middle of the country, does it still have a beach? Perhaps a lake?

Yep! Polkopia has many lakes in it, and Scorilo is located very close to the sea. The fortress that's included in the bid is actually alongside the Darva River, which flows through Scorilo and empties itself in the south of the country.

STE | Viktor Antonsson i føra flag vør Ekoese

Kårnis, Ekoese: After a respectable eighth place finish, the STE confirms it's intent on returning to the WorldVision Song Contest's fiftieth edition despite reports that the broadcaster was considering axing the contest completely from their listings. The STE announced today that Viktor Antonsson (above) will be representing the country at the up and coming contest in a to-be-decided host city.

Viktor Antonsson, 26, a respected house/R'n'B/techno producer from Umsørranstaat, Ekoz's northern-most city debuted his entry on STE Radio One this morning, as well as busy promotional day on Gødmorgon Ekoese. He stated "The STE approached me a few editions back, and of course, it's the STE so I took that into account, but I didn't have a decent song to represent both me and my country. If I do things, I want to do them and excel. I think the song I'm going to sing at WorldVision is fresh and something that Ekoz really hasn't sent before, and I hope the risk the STE are taking pays off. I'm not really a typical glitzy, camp and polished entry that people expect of Ekoz... my song is urban and raw." When asked about winning the contest and securing Ekoz's first win, he replied "I can only do my best, let's see how Ekoz takes to the song before I get cocky..."

His WorldVision song will be released on Friday on iTunes, Amazon and Spotify and has hit radio stations both nationally and internationally today. Early signs suggest that his song was gaining radio spins at a reasonably fast momentum and bookies are hinting that the song could hit number one on the Ekoesestoplistann. This would make it the first WorldVision entry to debut at number one in four editions, with Jonas Sjelgord and "Aggression" which finished second at WorldVision.

The STE confirmed that Viktor will be promoting the entry within Ekoz and of course, internationally touring Ultimaverse as well as other nations not within the region. For more information on Viktor, WorldVision and any STE programming, visit ste.ez/worldvisionfestivalen

Internal Selection for Kishrael
Image
Luna Shaldit, Kishraeli representative at the 50th WorldVision Contest

In a break from convention, the KBA has cancelled the planned Kdam-WorldVision for the 50th edition of the WorldVision Song Contest, citing 'mediocre results in recent years' and 'a lack of faith in the voting system from the public'. Instead an internal selection has taken place for the contest, with singer Luna Shaldit being the one chosen. Some eagle eyed fans will remember Luna as one of the main contenders in the Kdam-WorldVision of 41, which was later cancelled due to Kishrael's non-participation. Some may question Kishrael's choice this edition, Luna and her song have been described as somewhat whacky and crazy a wild break from convention in the history of Kishraeli entries. Many would expect Kishrael to send a serious entry to WorldVision 50 in aims to bring the crown home once again after seventeen editions out of the spotlight, alas this alternative approach may work, as the current Kishraeli formula has not provided a top 5 result since WorldVision legend Tabitha Shamaimah got second place ten edition.

Hailing from the party city of Akrabutir, Luna Shaldit, now aged 29 is a singer known on the local city circuit performing in a number of the most popular clubs in Akrabutir. This has at times allowed her music to creep into the charts, receiving minor success for some club bangers in the past. Furthermore her previous Kdam song reached #20 in Kishrael so she is not completely unknown. Seeing this as a good career move, Luna is hopeful of reviving of Kishrael's fortunes in the WorldVision after a string of bad results 'I cannot wait, this is the biggest party in the world and I'm honoured to be there at such a crucial anniversary. I want to do Kishrael proud on the world stage and show them that we've still got it!'. On her detractors, Luna had this to say 'People will say things about everyone, maybe some people wanted a big ballad about hope and peace is what some people wanted, but that's not what Kishrael is about! We're fun and I think we might have lost that, hopefully I can turn these haters into my biggest fans haha'. Luna's song currently sits at #9 in the Kishraeli charts, but with it's worldwide release and greater publications on her participation it is expected to rise higher.
