Crime in your country (OOC/Open RP)

This topic serves two purposes: roleplay about criminal exploits on NS, and telling everyone else about your chief gangs etc..

I'll start:
Although my country has a large police force, and crime is nonexistent, there is one criminal entity: Hellspawn, the most vicious biker gang ever. It has fifteen members, and it is led by Marth Obama and Hackeye, who carries a chainsaw. Watch out, cause Hellspawn is coming!

Crime is currently on a sharp decrease since we have the death penalty and have introduced new punishments for certain crimes, lets just say an eye for an eye, although we still have some rebellion but rest assured they are silenced quickly, im sorry to hear about that horrid sounding Biker gang of yours.

Since early February we've been experiencing a very interesting new program of TheoPol(*) called Police Shoots At Will, and I have to confess that so far -at least-, we've been rather pleased with the outcome:

1) Drastic crime reduction by about 33%
2) Not more than 49% innocents killed in the process
3) Significant reduction of prisoners hanging out in our stuffed jails

Yours sincerly

According to the WA, "Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate."

Crime consists mostly of "borrowing" cars and similar acts of youthful exuberance. It should be noted that Fatatatutian culture has no real concept of property ownership, so "theft" is undefined. If somebody wanted to borrow your car when you weren't using it, it would be considered rude to refuse. For the same reason, it is considered rude to lock your car.

The police, when they're not busy fishing, keep track of recovered vehicles. If your car was "borrowed", you can go to the police station to find out where it is.

As for "mortality rate", there has only been one murder in Fatatatutti in living memory, and it wasn't a police officer.

The WA notes that crime is "totally unknown" in Letat, owing in part to a strong culture of post-Revolutionary solidarity and the general permissiveness of Letatian law. It is worth noting that drugs are largely legal in Letat, with their cultivation controlled by a Popular Interest - the Letatian version of private enterprise controlled by a council of workers, managers and investors and run by a community-elected executive. Drug use is illegal prior to biological developmental maturity - once this is reached, as certified by a physician, Letatians are permitted to purchase any substance of their choice. This has the added benefit of ensuring Letatian youth remember to get regular check-ups.

Letat also enjoys a relatively low number of returned criminals. Because Letatian criminal justice focuses on repair and rehabilitation more than revenge or punishment, forced detention is only used for the most severe criminals. A minor offender - say a pickpocket - is not jailed. Rather, when caught, s/he is forced to return what was stolen and pay a fine, usually to the victim and to the state. Thereafter s/he receives a community service sentence, and is assigned a Warden to ensure that the person reforms their living habit so they will not return to petty theft. Given the general permissiveness of the State in victimless crimes, police forces have greater resources to see to the reform of criminals.

Due to the citizenship card every person is requiered to carry, and the strong police force, petty crime is no longer a problem.

But, the mafia is selling South Defesian slave's to multiple corperations.

And thats bad.

There is almost no crime at all in Dagnia, in spite of what the first paragraph of our nation page says (read the third one). However, having one of the most powerful economies in the universe, as well as being extremely secular (90% atheist) and capitalist has made the nation a target for political and religious terrorism. The organisations that are a consistent source of trouble are the Worker's Revolutionary Front (Communist), The Crimson Crusade (Christian Fundamentalist) and the Al-Khadma Al Matwada'a Allah (Islamic Fundamentalist). They are almost all from foreign countries and have connections to other criminal and terrorist groups. Almost none of them are citizens of Dagnia, so they are not entitled to many constitutional protections.

I find that it is most efficient to maintain a small level of crime, so that citizens do not become complacent in their personal safety. Sanctioned crime is an important part of any fully-functioning government, and can also provide a reliable and much-needed source of public revenue. In time the people even come to appreciate the sight of well-mannered, nationally certified goons, thugs and ne'er-do-wells loitering on street corners. When citizens wander out at night and find themselves accosted by a licensed Urban Petty Crimes Contractor they will learn a valuable lesson about nocturnal roamings, and can take solace in the fact that a hefty percentage of what is taken will flow back into the national coffers to fund valuable social programs.

Naturally some criminals exist who will not accept operating under the auspices of the Department of Law & Order. Fortunately, we have ways of dealing with such wayward miscreants (WE SHOOT THEM IN THE FACE).

Some would ask "Why, Doctor Cyclops, do you allow bad things to happen?" To that I can only shake my head and shed a solitary tear that one of my beloved citizens would have such little trust in one who loves him so very, very much.

Havensky's good economy and superb education system keep violent crimes to an acceptable low level. We do have the occasional 'white collar' crimes that create a bit of a mess.

The closest thing we have to organized crime is The Defianti. The Defianti are a group of airship pilots that operate outside of the official Armada and are not the least bit afraid of getting their hands dirty,

Crime in Jimanistan is primarily a youth-related activity, considering that many profitiable ventures, classified as criminal in other places, are legal in Jimanistan. It is understandable that most crimes, then, are petty acts of vandalism and theft, particularly the picking of pockets.

There are as many computer "crimes" in the Confederacy as there are anonymous proxy servers. Internet crimes are indeed crippling, and a few make a living out of stealing from Internet Banking and Internet scams directed against the "bourgeois", and because "bankers are bourgeois exploiters of the working class", they can do it with impunity, until yet another nation chooses to block a major range of IPs in the Confederacy, while others vandalize sites, usually of politicians and people put in the "Internet Hate Machine" "for the LULZ". Many people see the crackers as having a "Digital Robin Hood" mystique, even though there are no really poor people in the Confederacy to donate to. The Medellin Family, once nearly brought to its knees by the Vigilantes and by the people, became now a Mafia of geeks, crackers, phreakers and tech-heads which supposedly also serves as a grey "Intelligence Agency" for the Confederacy, becoming now... arguably, a legit business organization. However, in a way, the largest "criminal organization" of Third Spanish States is 4chan.tv

After computer crimes, then comes a very disturbing prospect: the seemingly large reported cases of pedophilia. However, unlike in the case of most computer crimes, they are dealt with extreme prejudice, and their perpetrators usually castrated and/or killed by angry mobs. Fortunately the trend is in a reduction, as the measures against it became increasingly draconian.

Other crimes are moderate, because not everyone fears having a lynching mob run at them, or being exiled from their birthplace by ostracism. However, petty crimes are actually the responsible for such moderate rate of crimes other than Internets ones and pedophilia. Most heinous crimes are usually dissuaded by the fact that anyone can do anything to people who commit heinous crimes and won't have to answer for whatever is done to such, as the locals say, "dreg of mankind".

Crime in Yannia is virtually non-existent, due to, among other factors, comprehensive social policies. Yannia does experience some crime, however, but none of it appears to be organised.
Police solve approximately 90% of crime.

Average annual figures for some crimes:

theft 22
rape 11
awgbh 8
murder 3

The only crime is a vicious Mafia called the Jin-we family. They number just over 250 members and have high-caliber assault rifles and several MANPADS. The majority of robberies whether it be bank or homes has been caused by the Jin-we family. They're leader is Mauri Jin-we, and he also exports thousands of Kilo's of cocaine every year.

The families net worth is estimated at an outstanding 2,000,000,000 NS dollars.

As well as being responsible for 3,567 police and military deaths, and close to 6,500+ civilian deaths.

by Volzgrad
Major or organized crime is for all intents and purpose, non-existent in Volzgrad. Petty crimes like theft or property damage are also nearly unknown but occasionally occur, almost always because the suspect was drunk. Almost every crime in Volzgrad carries the death penalty (hence why we have no prisons), and Volzgrad's police force is essentially our military. The Commissariat serves as our secret police, but their role is more oriented to ensuring that no foreign operatives infiltrate Volzgrad. Nearly every street corner in Volzgrad is guarded by at least 5 Imperial Militiamen or Imperial Infantrymen, so Volzgrad is essentially in a permanent state of martial law.
