WorldVision Song Contest 49 | OOC & DISCUSSION

We are preparing for the 50th WorldVision Song Contest. A Special Event will be hosted by Kalosia. Here is what you have to do. Post this on the Sign-up Thread.

The phrase "Welcome" in your national language (formal plural, if necessary)

If you've hosted WorldVision since WV43, I need to know not only the theme and the city you hosted with, but also what RL place your city (and/or venue) is based on, along with any additional info if necessary (e.g. Kasin, Kalosia is based on Marseilles FRA, except unlike the latter, it is landlocked. Another example, Monterra, Kalosia is based on Toronto CND, but the venue that hosted WV27 is based on the Khan Shatyr building in Astana KAZ). Maybe also let me know your city's name in your national language, just in case. Also this should be a no-brainer, but just in case, let me know also which edition you hosted.

COUNTDOWN TIMER FOR HOST VOTING!

A beginner's guide...

The WorldVision Song Contest, based on the Eurovision Song Contest aims to provide and unite nations from different parts of the World through music. The WorldVision Song contest is an outlet to showcase the popular or native music of your nation. As with every contest, there are a few simple rules and regulations that you'll need to follow.

 1. To start, you must sign-up for the contest. Do so by using the form below and posting that you sign up in this thread. Make sure you sign up before [CUTOFF DATE]. You will not be penalised if you sign up and don’t post a song. These songs will be submitted in the IC thread after a host vote.
 2. At the end of the host bidding period, all nations which have signed up at that point may vote for the nation that will host the contest. Instructions will be posted by this account, and all host votes should be telegrammed to this account as well. The winning bidding nation will then create the IC thread.
 3. The contest is based upon the Eurovision Song Contest: nations will "perform" their song. No real-life song can be entered into the WorldVision Song Contest; of course, the melody can be used (usually linked via YouTube). At least 80% of the song’s lyrics must be original, and translations are not allowed. Nations are free to choose to host a national final or internally select their representative. English is not compulsory.
 4. Once the IC thread has been posted whenever the winning bidding nation chooses, nations will submit songs before the deadline. After the deadline nations may not edit or alter their song in any way, unless otherwise instructed by the committee. Also, after the deadline and any interval act if appropriate (wait for the signal from the host nation), nations vote, ranking their top ten songs in the following format: 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 in the IC thread. Nations may not vote for themselves. All nations that post a song in the IC thread must vote.

If you don't know how to sign up, use this form below; this should help. Not all of these fields have to be filled in, but it certainly helps.

Code: Select all
Nation Name: Your nation's name goes here.
Official Broadcaster: Your official broadcaster for WV goes here.
Song Title: The IC Song title goes here.
Artist(s) Name(s): The name of your act goes here.

Tune: The real life tune you're basing your song on goes here.

Rules and Regulations

 1. A debutante nation cannot bid to host the WorldVision Song Contest. A nation must have entered and completed one Contest in order to qualify to host a Song Contest. Furthermore, a nation that has put a host bid CANNOT vote for their own bid. This ensures a democratic, and fair result.
 2. At least 80% of the song’s lyrics must be original, and translations of real life songs will result in disqualification. If you suspect another entry to be either wholly or mostly plagiarised, please telegram the WorldVision Committee with your concerns. The committee will then review the entry before making a judgement. If your entry is disqualified for whatever reason, you will not be reinstated even if you edit your entry.
 3. All nations that post a song in the IC thread must vote. Failure to do so will result in a one-contest ban.
 4. Each nation may enter ONE puppet nation (that is another nation controlled by the same player); the master nation must confirm their puppet on the thread. Should a nation is found to be in breach of the one-puppet nation rule, sanctions and a disqualification will be put in place.
 5. If a nation enters a puppet nation, the maximum amount of points that can be awarded to each nation is up to five points thus ensuring a fair and more equal chance for all nations to succeed within the Contest. If a nation is found to have awarded a higher amount of points, the committee will first allow said nation to alter their votes. If said nation fails to adhere to Committee reminders, the votes will be rendered void and will result in disqualification. A user controlling a master and puppet nation together can only award a third nation a total of 18 points.
 6. Under no circumstances will bullying, offensive and/or intimidating language or provocations of any form be accepted within the Contest, within both IC and OOC threads. WorldVision promotes peaceful and friendly environment. Failure to comply will result in disqualification. If at any point, you feel you are a victim, or feel someone has been victimised by another nation, contact the Committee, or a member of the Committee immediately. The Committee will ensure anonymity/confidentiality at all times.
 7. Only the current host of a Contest or the WorldVision Committee can reveal results during the voting process. Conspiring with fellow users to rig any of the votes is illegal and will result in sanctions.
 8. Users may "reserve" slots in the running order of the contest, but if one's entry is not completed having made a reservation by the deadline, the perpetrator will receive a one-contest ban. An entry is accepted if it has a complete set of lyrics, regardless of whether stage directions have been finalised or not.
 9. Users may not edit their entries or votes after the deadlines for any reason, including spelling or grammatical errors, unless otherwise instructed to by the Committee.

So basically, be original, try to be fair, don't be a jerk, and have fun. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to TG the Committee- it helps if you add the Committee's individual member names (Britonisea, Electrum, Mister X and Talvezout) in the "To:" box along with "WorldVision Committee" for a faster response.

Even if you've missed the deadline or aren't participating, feel free to discuss the contest in this thread or post commentary in the IC. You'll find that people greatly appreciate some good commentary.

With all that said, welcome to WorldVision!

In response to lower than expected average viewer ratings for Vettrera during Worldvision, and a 13th place finish in the contest, the National Committee on Artists and Talent (Vettrera's governing body for Worldvision, and the administers of the Gemini Awards) have decided to hold a public contest to determine who will represent Vettrera in Worldvision 49. The committee has chosen 6 Gemini Award Winning acts known for either their critical or commercial success. The vote will be split 50/50 between public approval and jury approval.

To vote, please assign each song a rank of either 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th, and TG the results to Vettrera

SONG 1: Best Collaboration
SONG 2: Best Song For A Motion Picture
SONG 3: Best Band Performance
SONG 4: Best Experimental Piece

Bolstered by the previous edition's 4th place, Izmedu returns with Kalina Ercegovic and her song "One Last Tear"

(edit 2: reverting it back to the original title to prevent the loss of more hair).

Kalosia returns! RTVK has confirmed participation in the 49th WorldVision Song Contest.

That said, I've also decided to have a special event to commemorate 50 editions of the WorldVision Song Contest, that will run in parallel with WV50 when it comes. To prepare for it, I ask for the following from you guys:

Full details of this event to come, most likely at the beginning of the WV50 season. If I need anything else, I'll let you all know!

Kdam-WorldVision

The popular Kishraeli pre-selection show has returned with an expanded song list but the same format. Despite the somewhat disappointing finish of Liora last edition, the KBA has pushed forward with Kdam, believeing it to be the best way of selecting a participant (even though all Kishraeli victories have come from internal selection). Although slowly seeing its viewing figures decline, Kdam is still a cherished part of the Kishraeli television schedule and the final is still watched by around 330,000 people nationwide. Among the interesting facts about this edition of Kdam-WorldVision is the inclusion of more male artists - with four making the cut this year. A male has yet to represent Kishrael in a vocal capacity, with DJ Habana producing for WorldVision 36, and the all-male Hemlokim joining Levin Hatari on stage during WorldVision 30. Other interesting things include the arrival of a girl-band who aim to recreate the monumental success of Cinderella Ra'ah in WorldVision 33. Will this finally be the edition that Kishrael gets it's mojo back?

King Darwin I will announce the song of the WorldVision later at an announced time. Darwin says "I am completely overjoyed to be entering this contest! Peragion, may the swords of God & Allah lead us to victory! Arabs & Christians UNITED, HURRAH! I will let Mo speak now," he says looking to him.

"Ah, I am happy to be here in-front of all you fine people here in Darvania, the fine capital of Peragion. You all know that Darwin was named after this city he was born in. Anyways, without him, our Monarchy freed from Britain would never be here today. He led our independence and forged a stronger relationship with Britain after seizing our independence. Now 65, Darwin I aims to see us enter our first WorldVision. Also, with our new fast-growing economy and Civil Rights, our nation is truly rising out of the ashes like a Phoenix. That's why our national symbol is a Phoenix young Peragagonians. Anyways, lets celebrate and be happy our country is allowed to participate. I hope you all do a good job Arabs, Germans, and Englishmen. I love the blood running through our united nation. I LOVE IT!" said the Secretary of Defense, Mohammed with a very patriotic tone.

Augen ot Praciba! - Eyes on Praciba!
Sneak Preview - Contestants

#1 - Khézar & Nutrino
Image

Khézar & Nutrino form the biggest musical duo known on Pracib children's TV, presenting the popular children's music show 'K æn þor N' (K to the N) on PPKids. Having previously worked as music producers and parts of a boyband, Khézar & Nutrino use their connections to have the chart-toppers perform kids-friendly versions of their song on TV. Next to their show, they have continued their musical careers, as a duo, and their latest hit 'Let's go to the club' has topped the charts both for children and adults due to it's spicy-yet-friendly lyrics, multitudes of women and men that are given hugs in the music video and other happenings that made the song as interesting to children as to adults. This quality is what makes Khézar & Nutrino a solid choice for WV49, the second edition that Praciba will win after it's victory at the special 40th WorldVision, as Pracib Royal TV estimates that between one and ninety-nine percent of all viewers and voters of the WorldVision are children or influenced by children.

For any media-related inquiries such as interviews, bookings or other communications such as well-wishes, fan mail and so forth, feel free to contact Pracib Royal TV. International hopefuls hoping to become a Foreign Wildcard in Augen ot Praciba may also send their letters to Pracib Royal TV.

OMG! It's a contest!

If Khézar & Nutrino do not win Augen ot Praciba, they are scheduled to perform as Pracib Royal TV's first ever commentators. For those interested in contests, the Pracib WV experience or simply winning, here is how you win an all-expenses paid, five-star Pracib WV experience for you and three of your best friends, which includes a visit to the Pracib commentator booth and the possibility to sneak into the green room as part of the Pracib entourage, to view all contestants from close up.

The question is simple: Using the promotional picture, who is Khézar and who is Nutrino?

Please send your answer to Pracib Royal TV, where the winner shall be randomly selected among those with the right answer.

After a semi-decent debut. Mercedini will compete in WorldVision 49

A song and singer(s) have been chosen, but we wouldn't want to reveal things too early.

Remember that Eurovision RP thing I brought up in the previous WV OOC thread? I was thinking perhaps we could do a less recent contest (2011, perhaps) and each user can hold 2 nations - 1 in each semifinal. Should I maybe set up a separate thread for it right now?

Praciba wrote:#1 - Khézar & Nutrino

Hasn't the guy on the right (presumably Nutrino) been at WV before? His face seems familiar to me, you may have used him before elsewhere idk

Shouldn't the thread name be something more the likes of "WorldVision Song Contest 49 | SIGNUPS (OPEN)"?
