JOHANN MARS: A RISING STAR
Östenlund has found its Katrina Chmielowska - Johann Mars
Elected an independent in 1990 before becoming a member of the Östenvolk Party this May, he rallies right-wing nationalist Östenisch, even once being a guest speaker at one of Chmielowska's rallies.Representing Sterben-2 in the Assembly, Mars is considered extremely influential in the Östenisch movement to end the union. He rallies behind the idea of Östenisch nationalism, capitalism and social conservatism, a stark difference from the generally leftist and less nationalist Östenisch political scene. Mars is a very charming man - Winning over huge crowds of working class Östenisch, angered at the fact a Kradowskan nationalist party is running Östenlund - despite Mars' personal friendship with Chmielowska - with the crowds flocking to his rallies in their masses. His last rally - held in the HÖR Arena in Ardeutsch - drew a crowd of thirty thousand, with people from Östwehn to Hahn attending.
Several spectators dub Mars as 'the Chmielowska of Östenlund', not only for his support to end the union, but also for his generally upbeat attitude, his ability to charm crowds of people and to be the constant centre of attention - Although National Times still believe Chmielowska does all of that better - as well as his dubious past, which includes the alleged murder of his wife and 5 kids in 1999, however the case remains unsolved. Mars supports the Chmielowska government, voting for her as Chancellor shortly after the election when she was nominated.
Mars, shockingly, originates from Lionsgate in Acronius, born 1960, and was raised their by Östenisch immigrant parents, before being employed by a Sterben-based company in 1984 and subsequently moved to Sterben. Many question the legitimacy of his views about Östenisch nationalism given his Acronian background - Including that Lionsgate accent he can't shake off, as it was revealed his Sterben working-class accent was all a fake in a recent interview where he forgot to put on his wicked cool voice - as well as several high-profile Östenvolk Party supporters who are upset a more moderate conservative is a member of the otherwise far-right party, including billionaire Lydia Merkel, who called him a 'disgrace' and she also said 'Östenvolk Party is all about Östenisch. Kradowskans are filth. They must be exterminated in the masses. The fact he's friends with one, our very Chancellor, disgusts and repusles me. Whenever he comes near me I pee myself and vomit as I know he's been working with FILTHY KRADOWSKANS!'. Please note the National Times does not support ÖP and we operate across Östenlund and Kradowska.
Mars continues to fuel the Östenisch wing of the End of Union Movement, where recent polls show only 40% of Östenisch citizens support ending the union - a sharp rise from 9% in January, however it fails to capture the fervour in Kradowska, where around 85% support ending the union. Mars, however, is still pushing for more support, however his attempts are being foiled as a movement to transform into a federation grows - a movement pushed by the Federalist Party. In a three-way lineup, between No Change, End of Union or Transformation to Federation, the latter leads with 67% support in Östenlund, 17% for No Change and 16% support for a complete end to the union - However this can be disputed, as only 5 polls over the last 5 months included the third option, all by the same polling company, who draw 70% of their samples from Tyrolande, where the Federalist Party have 80% support.
So, Mars has a lot of work to do. He must repel his own party's objections to him whilst also sway more and more voters to his side. He is scheduled to host his next rally in the Ryilde Arena in Östwehn on October 20th - Already 15,000 of the available 24,000 tickets are gone, so buy your tickets quick!
