CONGRESS OF ISHIKAWA
OOC: Okay. Welcome to the congress of Ishikawa. Classic rules such ass human only, MT and seriousness apply always. This is sort of a summit thread, so I want everybody to understand what is happening. This is partially inspired by congress of Vienna - a diplomatic summit taking very informal way of presentation, where among dinning, dancing and discussion important Geo-political topics are moved.
LIST OF TOPICS TO BE DEBATED SO FAR:
- Homofront Terrorism; Kojiro's "Crusade on Terror".
- Economic protectionism, free trade, and integration.
- Military security, alliances.
- Maritime security, Maritime law reforms.
- Energetic security, oil.
I want every nation of yours to know something about those topics and try to get in depth. Your nation has to have formed opinion about those matters - the more encompassing, the merrier.
Also: I want this moving at slow pace. Contrary to my other RPs, I am not requiring ton of writing to be done. You have to, however, post a short bio of your characters upon entry. This does not have to be long, but here is the scheme:
One could say many things of the Nihonese capital; but no one could say that the great city of Ishikawa wasn't imposing. Originally it became the Nihonese capital at times of Chosokame no Yorimoto, the first Christian shogun of the Empire of Greater Nihon; and remained so until this day. When eyes of foreigners looked at it, the glory of past Shoguns, Emperors, statesmen and samurai who ruled from this place instantly came to mind - and somehow, it hadn't passed even among the star - like array of neon lights, towering skyscrapers indicating the modernization and architectural marvels that filled the former capital of Chosokame Bakufu, contracting with the mountains visible in the distance that surrounded it like a high wall protecting it from the foes. Nihon was modernizing - and ironically, the values of the past found perfect application for the modern days. Working culture, contributed to by ethics of Tanzhist philosophy and protestant Christianity brought here in XVI century by missionaries, now so widely accepted by the sons of Amiral Yi, contributed to development to nation that could manufacture a lot, and with high quality. The commercial fleet, and trade with it, was growing, and with Kaigun protecting it, few dared to touch the swarms of commercial ships that flooded the waters. When Murakami Akira and man responsible for the economic miracle, current PM, would leave the office he would eagerly admit that the success surpassed his expectations. Properly designed education system produced people who worked for enormous zaibatsu conglomerates, fueling the one of freest markets in Southern Furukuran sea. And such powerful county had powerful demands.
Nihon lacked natural resources, thus it was basing it's economy on manufacturing and services sector, producing plenty of goods of high quality and cheaper than the competition; yet such industry required enormous resources to be imported to Nihon, then only be put of use. As such, the land of Blazing sun was reliant on the sea for it's economy to function. While Kaigun has been perfectly suited for defeating any enemy - with it's massive submarine fleet always ready to wreck havoc on any foe that dared to mess with the Imperial Nihonese Navy - there were some foes that needed attention. In the past days, competition with European powers was fierce, developing in the Nihonese strong sense of cultural pride and national unity... and now when another European power was on the move, the Nihonese government would likely not receive that well.
At the middle of Ishikawa laid an old palace, surrounded with thick walls built years ago, with it's several roofs towering upon the city's parks and casting shadows upon the mountains, laid the Tosa castle, the old seat of Shoguns. While the cherries started to show first bosoms in the castle's gardens, an older man was sitting, chatting with his several advisors. One could easily say that he was someone important, judging from the uniform he wore - the classic, dark olive uniform of the officer of Imperial Nihonese Army, that contrasted with his gray hair, long cheekbones, and oval face. This man - was Shogun Maki Kojiro himself, current Shogun of Nihon. Some called him semi - authoritarian, some - even worse names, but Kojiro was not a tyrant, although everyone could say that he restricted the powers of the Imperial Diet a lot. "McCarthy of Asia", hero of the right wing and nightmare to the left, Kojiro always caused extreme emotions; some adored him for Nihonese free market economic miracle, and some - hated him with fire for restricting LGBT rights or communist witch hunts.
He was now, in the middle of his palace, with a middle aged woman, aged around 40; her yellow skin visibly contrasted with her raven dark hair aligned in pony tail, while a pair of two, small green eyes scanned area around him, preparing the entire event. Kojiro, although well known figure possessing an enormous degree of Charisma, formerly served in the military intelligence for most of his life; something that taught him preference for secrecy. Maki Shogun, despite his well known abilities to rally the crowd, was rather humble in his attitude and hadn't felt perfect on the banquets; although his skills in faking his real feelings surpassed several Hollywood actors. It thus fell on his foreign affairs minister, Asuka Tokugawa, and his friend, current prime minister and wealthy industrialist Murakami Akira, to organize the event. Akira, a middle aged, short man with an oval face and dark hair was at the heart of this meeting; for him, it was always a good chance to serve Nihon... and do business alike. After all... justly earned money is not evil...
Tokugawa delivered him dossiers from the diplomatic intelligence about who will come and who they are. Maki learned everything he could, studying every person that he had dossier on; after all knowing them would have helped him in conducting negotiations. At the same time, security of the palace was in hands of Commodore Ibuki Ryuta - current head of the naval intelligence, who volunteered to do that. Ryuta owned his position to Kojiro, not to mention lack of any moral stoppings when applying the violence; born among the Nihonese mafia, Ibuki wasn't someone that any terrorist or assassin wanted to do anything with.
Kojiro smiled as he observed the three main halls being prepared. For him, it was a game to be played; Kojiro loved risk, loved game, patiently waited for the moment to execute his move. A lot of chances, but also opportunities to loose were ahead. Yet for the old intelligence officer none of that was bothersome. After all, heavenly father guided over him all the time, and Kojiro never ceased in his devotion to Christ the Emperor. With them on his side, he hoped doing what had to be done - ensuring continuous survival of Nihon.
The guests were coming.... and the grand game begun.
(OOC: Skip the arrivals; I do not want to bother with them. You are on place, just pass through the front doors).
