List the 30 most powerful and influential Nations on NS you know.
It's for a project.
And I mean legit Roleplayer nations, not just any nation.

Taking soft power into consideration, considering command over individual regions, considering GE&T presence, taking RP population into account (this is why most 'newbies' are lower in my list), not weighting much by present activity in International Incidents, and including the ability to (ICly) attract attention, my list would be:

Lyras, Ralkovia, Yohannes (old), Allanea, World Order, Knootoss, Marquesan, The Parthians, Lamoni, Crontor, The Macabees, Yohannes (New), Pantocratoria, Caldan Union (of the Resurgent Dream)

And then I can't really work out which of these nations to include in the other 17:

Automagfreek, Morrdh, Scandinvans, Cuscatlan, Riysa, Carloso, Aeyariss, Brimstone nations, Hurtful Thoughts, Wanderjar, Aravea, Libertarian Governance, Ryouese Islands, Ctan, Singaporean Transhumans, The greater Vakolicci Haven, Gristol-Serkonos, Dephire, Ausitoria, Flardania, Victorialia, ViZion, Gigaverse, Shazbotdom, Estovakia, United Remnants of America, Crystal Spires, Imbrinium, Roski, Ardoki, Yalos, Greater Aryan Race, YellowApple, Ainin, Ganos Lao, Etoile Arcture, New Azura, Xanixi, Questors, Jenrak, Nikolia, GHawkins, Novo Wagondia; Furry Alaria and Algeria, Organized States, TECT, Romic, Ghant, Kington Langley, Symphonia, Urmanian, Blackhelm Confederacy, Luziyca, Mizialand, Minroz, Alexiandra, Sondstead, Valaran, Bulgar Rouge, Aurora Confederacy, Guadalupador, Lolloh, Bratislav, Chilokver, Neu Engollon, Emmeria, New Edom, Romberg, Aquitayne, Coldwater, Feng, Topkekkia, The New Lowlands, West Aurelia ...

(I think that would be about the top 100 - at least in the dozen or so RPing circles I have moved in).

Their maximum RP-able population is about 5 billion and it's my understanding that they use much less than that anyway? But I suppose I should also add them to my list.

My honest answer is I don't think it works like that.

Well I'm just a nobody. I hardly project any presence in NS :(

But some of those names is quite famous, but I wouldnt necessarily see them as 'powerful'...great writers and influental? Yes, certainly. Powerful..hmm, theres no benchmark for comparison. I guess I see things differently....unless you say they're servicemen...now those are different kind of writer.

Don't underestimate Aeyariss. I'd say Aeyariss is the single most important reason why Ausitoria no longer feels obliged to support the left (in the interests of the balance of power) - because Aeyariss is now doing it so effectively.

That's why I find it easier to include soft power, because those that are famous tend to have well developed connections (and for that matter mostly RP with larger populations).

Everybody loves a list, but for something as subjective as power/influence it's never going to be accurate for everybody either listed or reading it. The best it can do is provide some sort of guide... lists are what the author decides to try to measure.
