P.P.S.: Sitting at home after surgery is actually pretty boring

You, you! I remember you, too, haha!

I hope everything's all right, and speedy recovery!

Same here, Nuevo. Life's been interesting, especially with the surgery, and then I saw Cen make this new thread, so I decided to swing by to check up on everyone.

Anyways, how's life been treating ya?

A lot better than before, actually. More chance to RP, which is always good. How are you doing? What was your surgery for, if you don't mind me asking?

Well, then if this paragraph is to be believed, IESP One was a success in its own way, as was every IESP RP that has come since :) .

Nuevo Meshiko wrote:Some chatter ensued, and he had to motion for everyone to keep silent again. "The International Exchange Student Program, for those of you who don't know yet, is an international Cenerian initiative to encourage educational intercultural contact between nations all around the world. Nuevo Meshiko, and this school in particular, has been the winner of the bid to be the first to host this international event, which is a testament to our educational system and our reputation; however," his eager tone suddenly turned slightly more cautious, "you must all keep in mind, especially you Neo-Meshikans, that this means it's up to us to ensure the success of this program. This year will be decisive for its future, and what happens here in Meshik may change the lives of many, many young men and women around the globe who are potential candidates of this program. If it fails, we fail not only us, we fail them, for we will take away their opportunity to experience what we are experiencing now. The success or failure of it is up to each one of us. Keep that in mind this year."

Together, we've ensured this never ends!

That in itself means nothing. I was raised in the US, and I know a Briton and a Canadian who are hardcore communists.

Either you're very masochistic or ridiculously rich--I'm trying hard not to believe that you really think more money makes some humans better than others.

I think having the freedom to earn more money and to keep more of it for yourself is very important. I don't want to pay for other peoples healthcare. I don't want to pay as much for their education. I don't wish to fund the European Union's endless list of crazy projects. I don't want to wade through thousands of UK and EU regulations on my business. I don't want to be prevented from earning my correct dues when I qualify as a lawyer due to the UK's ridiculous rules on the legal industry. I would like the freedom to bear arms, and to speak what I feel without the same level of legal consequences in the UK.

I don't think you understand how socialism works. You don't "pay for other people's healthcare". Everyone pays for everyone's healthcare, education, housing, food, electricity, what-have-you. It's a matter of everyone contributing to their society as best they can, and receiving their share of the profits as equally as possible. But that requires empathy, compassion, and in essence, humanity. Values fundamentally opposite those of capitalism.

How can Ireland not be both cold and socialist enough? You want to get even colder and even more communistic?

That's ridiculous. Ireland, Sweden and Denmark are not, by any stretch of the imagination, remotely socialist.

Or I could not pay in as much, only paying for mine and my families while earning more than the average salary and giving less away in taxes, allowing me to provide a better life for my family. You want electricity? Pay for it. Healthcare? Pay for it. Food? Pay for it. Don't expect the state to fund you (unless you physically cannot pay for it, such as those who are unable to be employed due to disability/age.)

The NHS does not make your nation any less capitalist. Publicly-funded services and healthcare have little to do with socialism. Again, you do not understand the concept of socialism.
