Casimir peered through the scope on his rifle. The night sky let him see clearly through his thermal scope at the guards as he waited for the signal from the rebels. The town was a relatively valuable target, having deposits of crude oil and other such materials, which the rebels could use to fund their operations.
"Fire," came the voice through the radio clipped to his shoulder. The bullet silently flew through the air, dropping one guard to the ground clutching a wound in his neck. As the other guard turned to look at this, another round flew out, puncturing the other man's heart and lungs. The trucks rolled into the city, the mounted guns on the backs ringing out, heralding the arrival of a new ruler.

We've received word the trial of the former French Emperor has concluded. He was found guilty and was sentenced to death by firing squad. We go now to his execution, being broadcasted live.

Several soldiers are shown carting a scruffy looking man with an unkempt beard and hair in a yellow outfit with chains linking his hands and feet together. They all but drag him against a wall, the man is offered no blindfold or any final words and is forced to view his death head on. The soldiers themselves are a highly disciplined looking group, with well chiseled bodies and frames, bearing various patches of Imperial Holy Orders on their shoulders. The men unsling their M16s and an officer calls out the command to aim. The man is allowed a brief moment of realization before the command to fire is given, and the M16's open up, all fully loaded with live ammunition. The deposed Emperor's body shudders as it is riddled with bullets before finally collapsing forward as the clinking of empty magazines resounds. The feed cuts out as the smoke rises from the heated assault rifle barrels.

With the situation in Algeria changing, the king Edward MacDacey ordered an opening of a refugee program. He has also ordered for various humanitarian aid and other necessary materials to be packed and delivered to Algerian people.

Maximilian waited in line at a coffee shop. He was dressed plainly and wearing sunglasses, not wanting the guards he had given the slip to find him easily. It was rare that he was able to do anything without them lurking nearby or stopping him from doing so, and it was sometimes nice to get out without an entourage of dark suited men following him. Today was the day that he realized why they were so needed. He felt a tap on his shoulder and turned around to meet whoever was doing it. There was a rather severe looking man standing there, having dead straight blond hair and eyes that looked far older than the face they resided in. The man's appearance wasn't the interesting part though.
The interesting part was the handgun poking Maximilian's chest.
"This is for Gibraltar," he said, firing a round off.
Maximilian fell, the world around him seeming to move in slow motion as he moved through the pain to grasp at the pistol holstered at his side as his jacket flew open with the blast.
He hit the ground, bouncing upwards for a moment with the impact as he finally got a hold of his firearm. Another shot rang out. The assailant fell. People screamed. Sirens wailed. Maximilian simply drowned it out and shut his eyes.

Today, the news is tragic. In a daring daylight shooting, Speaker Maximilian Phyrexus was killed. He was able to return fire and kill his assailant before dying of blood loss three hours later in the Sevick City Hospital. Now, there is to be an election to decide who our new Speaker shall be. Three candidates have made themselves known so far.

Yuri eased into the office chair at his new desk. It was odd to see this room from the seat of the Speaker. Usually it was the front of the desk that everyone saw. It was certainly a new perspective for him. He began to flit through the files on his desk. The results were quite frankly amazing. It was a veritable treasure trove of state secrets, the legacy of Maximilian Phyrexus, all contained within a pile of manila folders. As he continued through them, he could see a number of connections beginning to form. The man's work was quite frankly brilliant, as far as Yuri could see. Rebels in Algeria for the sake of expanding tin markets, increasing Topkekkian immigration to Singapore to encourage a diplomatic annexation, vertical farms for cheap food exports across the Western Isles, and the potential for an oil pipeline to Feng that would net Topkekkia billions. It was astonishing. The real question for Yuri was one of where he should take all this information, and what he should do with it.

The wide streets with filled with thousands of neat and crisply dressed soldiers marching in perfect unison accompanied by Wehrmacht Bands playing patriotic tunes, harkoning back to the early twentieth century. Entire interstates around Berlin were locked down in order to accompany the parade's panzer divisions. The whole affair lasted several hours, and the general mood within in the Empire is elated.
