The ADS is an alliance dedicated to the safeguarding of democracy across the world. Composed of democratic member-nations, the ADS is pledged to uphold and defend the principles of democracy, free and fair elections, political plurality and free speech.

ADS members have only one duty; to come to one anothers' aid when democratic values and rights are threatened, in defiance of all tyrants, fascists, authoritarian states and dictators. The ADS has no economic stance. Provided that a country is truly governed according to the wish of the people, and provided that those people enjoy all the benefits of free speech and freedom of access to information, it is a fit and worthy member of the ADS.

APPLICANT GUIDELINES

• Applicant must be democratic in governance (parliamentary, republic, constitutional monarchy, direct democracy, etc)
• Applicant must have laws and policies safeguarding free speech and access to information (internet, private media sources, etc)
• Applicant must have laws safeguarding trial by jury of peers and the right to legal representation
• Applicant must be modern-tech and human
• Applicant must swear to abide by the ADS Charter

New entrants must pay a fee of $2.5 million NSD as contribution to upkeep of the Alliance, and a further $5 million per fiscal year. All member-nations are required to maintain a delegate to the Alliance, who will speak for their nation in all Alliance matters.

The Alliance of Democratic States and all Alliance members, hereafter known as 'the Alliance', are bound to uphold the principles laid out in this charter. This charter shall also serve to lay out the structure of the government of the Alliance.

• ARTICLES OF THE CHARTER
• 1 - The Alliance will protect the freedom of free speech
• 2 - The Alliance will protect the freedom of access to information
• 3 - The Alliance will protect the freedom of the media
• 4 - The Alliance will protect the right to peaceful assembly
• 5 - The Alliance will protect the right to suffrage
• 6 - The Alliance will combat slavery in all its forms
• 7 - The Alliance will defend the sanctity of law and due process
• 8 - All members of the Alliance undertake not to attack one another economically or militarily
• POWERS OF THE ALLIANCE GOVERNMENT
• The Alliance QRF may only intervene in the defense of a state when requested by representatives of a democratically elected government
• The Alliance may expel members who are found to be in violation of the charter
• The Chair shall hold the power to expel a member with the support of at least two other Council members
• The Commander of the QRF may launch military action with the support of at least two other Council members
• The Head of Intelligence shall be responsible for protecting the Alliance from subterfuge and for vetting new applicants
• The Minister for Finance shall be responsible for budgeting, developing business and trade, and for charity/aid projects
• The Minister for Recruitment shall be responsible for locating suitable applicants and inviting them to join the Alliance
• All positions shall be up for election every two months. At least ten members must vote for the results of a vote to be recognised.
• DUTIES OF ALLIANCE MEMBERS
• All members are expected to pay their annual contributions of $5 million NSD
• All members are expected to abide by the terms of the Charter and to uphold Alliance values
• All members are invited to voluntarily contribute units to the Alliance QRF

The Alliance has no issue [OOC] with non-humans, FT, etc, but it's simply that we choose to be an MT alliance in order to make RPs and so on more convenient.

We'd certainly be more than happy to RP with you in the future - you're right, the two alliance names do seem to doom us to disagreements!
