WE ARE INTERNATIONAL
Welcome to the 'Vha Mehlodivestoile' HQ! Here, you can find the contest's latest news, gossip and winners! You can even vote!
After 45 editions of Mehlodhifehstivalhen - The national selection for WorldVision Song Contest and World Hit Festival - Britonisea decided to cancel the 46th Mehlodifehstivalhen ruling out a national selection for the upcoming World Hit Festival. Vha Mehlodhivestoile (English. The Star Song) is the new process to send songs to the upcoming bigger contests, increasing international say on what we send because we are international.
The Format of the Previous Mehlodhifehstivalhen
Since the 39th Melfeh, the format has changed. Firstly 32 songs are selected from a board of music professionals and fans of the WorldVision and World Hit Festival. Then, 32 songs are then divided in to 4 groups via a drawing selection process which usually takes 30 minutes. The songs are put in one box and the 4 groups are mixed in a separate box. Once the 4 groups are picked, group one then gets ready to perform their song in two weeks in a city, which has been drawed from a hat. The same follows for the other groups weekly. The top 2 get through to the finals automatically, however the next two songs are entered in to the Semi Finals. Once all the Groups have performed and 8 Finalists and 8 semi finalists are chosen, a new slate is made. There is a draw deciding when people perform for the semi finals and finals. When the Semi Finalists perform, 3 songs are picked from that and therefore qualifying to the finals. At the finals, 11 songs perform. The 11 songs are then put to a vote by the public and the winner represents the country in one of the big contests.
The Format of the New 'Vha Mehlodhivestoile'
It is quite similar to Melfeh. 24 songs are chosen and are put in to three groups of eight. The draws stay the same. The songs are performed every week for three weeks before reaching the semi Finals. As 3rd and 4th qualifies to the Semi Finals, we would have 6 songs in that draw. However, songs are put together for a battle. On Friday evening, the two songs who have received the highest points would verse each other - the winner going through to the finals. On Saturday evening, the two.songs which received the middle points verse each other and the same thing happens for the two lowest songs. In the finals, we use a mixture of WorldVision and WHF's system. We award 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 from each international jury including the Britonish public votes, Britonish Jury votes and neighbour votes (mounting for 50% of the overall score). The winner will represent Britonisea in the upcoming WorldVision Song Contest while "The Voice RU" will be used to send a WHF Act.
In the heats, points will be awarded 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7.
Why has there been a change?
Because, we believe that having the same contest every year is quite boring and we are open to new ideas. This will change the contest by a lot and we hope we can get as many international juries in with this idea as possible.
Will International Juries vote during the Group Heats?
Yes, they will be. We will pick nations to vote during each of the heats before all of them picking the winner in the finals. In the Semi Finals, it is 100% Britonish Public Vote.
My country doesn't participate in WHF or WorldVision - can I still vote?
Yes. 'Vha Mehlodhivestoile' will be asking nations from a wide range of regions to help out with the national final. If you think that your nation can contribute to the contest, please make sure to contact us (Telegram). Every vote counts! You don't have to vote in a heat to vote in the finals.
What sort of things am I expecting to find?
In the 24 songs picked, you may find a wide range of music spanning from rock to pop, from jazz to blues or even rap to classical! However, all songs are expected to have vocals in them in either English, Rwhitten (NBL) or any Ultimaverse language.
