FDC Meeting (CLOSED/ATTN FDC)

Postby North Timeria » Thu Feb 04, 2016 3:47 pm

The FDC meeting would be held at the Jade Blossom Hotel in Mai, North Timeria. This was the first big event to be held at the hotel and the staff was more than ready. The staff had prepared everything for the delegates and ensured the security of every guest. The staff hoped that all guest would stay at least a few days to see the city and enjoy the wonderful hotel. The Hotel's conference room was already setup and ready to go.

The President had arrived the day before and spent the night at the hotel. He would be there to greet all of the delegates from the FDC. This was an important meeting and the first held in over a year. They had much to discuss about the new year and what they need to accomplish. Another important highlight was the new compromise on the FDC's control over space.

The Hotel staff awaited for the arrival of all FDC members. The meeting would commence tomorrow but there would be a briefing, dinner, and other entertainment events that night.

It was odd to think that even though the country was not a part of the FDC, nonetheless they had been invited to send a representative to attend their meeting. Initially, the council thought it must have been sent erroneously - the Empire had left the organisation several years ago - but upon further inspection and an actual inquiry, it turned out that they were more than welcome. It had been said that the country was an FDC member in all but official membership ; and although it was true that it found itself heavily associated in its affairs, they certainly felt as if they leaned far more towards a neutral stance between it and the CDV. And such a stance was rare in today's world.

Therefore, a small portion of the Imperial Council had discussed who should go. Given the current domestic situation, there was no single person who could have authority to officially agree or disagree on any matters, and thus it was viewed as a simple event which would be mostly pleasant to attend and not too strenuous, for them at least. And the sixteen year old Crown Prince had voiced his wishes to acquaint himself properly with the geopolitical landscape. He was not old enough to lead his nation, but he was of age to represent his nation in a lesser capacity, and he argued convincingly that given he would ascend to the throne in a literal couple of years, it was in the best interest of the state to get him familiar with this sort of thing sooner rather than later. He was deemed mature enough to not require an assigned guardian or anything of the sort, but that still did not mean that he didn’t have to promise his mother that he wouldn’t get up to some sort of mischief.

The young man had arrived in the company of a guard or two from the Imperial Order of Knights and a single aide, but he had placed faith in the fact that the hotel would be renowned for its hospitality and would be perfectly fine. It was not going to be long before his faith would be tested as he could see the building - or perhaps more fittingly the resort - coming into his view. It was aesthetically pleasing, especially when backdropped by the flawless weather, which reminded him of home. As he casually entered the reception donned in a bespoke suit, he removed his sunglasses, and wished for the opportunity to remove a layer or so of clothing. A cold drink couldn’t have gone amiss either, but it was proper to check in first. He certainly expected to be approached any second now.

The New Republic had just barely managed to make it through the mass slaughter that was the Iravian civil war, but for the Republic to do so it had to pay very dearly for it. Where once great cities towered over the surrounding countryside, dominating its skylines, there was nothing more than smoldering ashes, ruins, and radioactive waste to be seen. In many places across the nation that was all that was left after massive aerial bombardments by the Empire. Many millions of civilians had been killed during the fighting, bombardments, and even starvation caused by the civil war.

But now that the war had ended and with the Republic rebuilding itself and consolidating its gains it was time to focus itself on international politics once again. The superpowers within the Freedom Defense Coalition had even supported the Republic during the civil war and thus would most arguably be glad to see that the rebuilding process was making serious progress.

After a short debate within the Iravian senate it was decided that both the Secretary of Space Affairs Justin Meijer and current president Amber Koningh would represent the Iravian republic. Because it was thought that the Freedom Defense Summit would be mostly centered around the ongoing space debate, the senate had chosen to send Meijer to the meeting, since he alone could exert full control over the Republic its space affairs.

Both president Amber Koningh and Secretary of Space Affairs Justin Meijer had just stepped of the plane in North Timeria to attend the Freedom Defense Coalition in Mai. It was regarded as a standard procedure for the president to bring her personal guard with her, which were about a hundred man strong. But here only four members of the federal guard came with the president, since they trusted their long-time allies enough for the president to consider leaving the federal guard at home. The black and armoured SUV in which they were was slowly driving through the city of Mai and on both sides of the car Meijer and Koningh could see one of Timeria’s most beautiful cities, with palm trees and high skyscrapers as far as the eye could see.

Slowly the car came to a stop at the Jade Blossom Hotel, famous for its excellent service and quality. As both the president and the secretary stepped out of the car they couldn’t help but to look up to the enormous white building that towered above anything else in the surrounding neighborhoods.

‘’Let’s go inside, shall we? It is kind of hot outside if you ask me.’’ the president said. Wanting to get inside as soon as possible.

’’Of course Mrs. President. I certainly do hope we are not too late for the entertainment that the Timerians had planned for us.’’ Meijer replied with a little smile on his face.

’’I don’t think so. Back in the day, before the time of the Empire everyone attending a Freedom Defense summit showed up too late. And I believe nothing has changed since then, at least from what I’ve heard nothing has changed.’’ she said and couldn’t help but to laugh afterwards.

As both representatives walked inside the hotel they saw the young Connurist crown prince standing in the hotel lobby, as well as the hotel staff behind the counter. While the two Iravian representatives would be waiting for the Connerian, Provite, and Atmoran delegations they decided it wouldn’t hurt get something nice to drink.

Jade Blossom Hotel, Mai, North Timeria
2059 CE

A limousine pulled up to the Jade Blossom Hotel, one SUV was in front of the limousine with another behind it. Three Atmoran Royal Guardsmen and the one Atmoran Secret Service Agent got out the SUV's. The limousine's door opened and Princess Alyssa in a blue dress looked at the Jade Blossom Hotel, she was indeed impressed at selection for the FDC Summit. Following Alyssa, King Daral I, Queen Lexi II and Prime Minister Mariano Campbell got out the limousine.

Queen Lexi II looked at her husband and smiled
"So this where the summit will take place, I must say it indeed is a impressive building. I think I'll go sightseeing around the resort or maybe the city, while you're in the meeting."

King Daral I, toke off his sunglasses
"I think I'll join you when I'm done with the meeting. I think it's best we all go inside now and check into the hotel and wait for the meeting to start."

They nodded in agreement carry their luggage to the hotel, when they entered Prime Minister Campbell and King Daral I went to go introduce himself to the new Iravian President and the other guests, while Queen Lexi II checked them in.

The Crown Prince had turned to introduce himself to whom he recognised as the Iravian President and a man he did not yet know, although that would be rectified shortly. He paused to think whether these people would recognise him and very well considered that they might not, as it really was the first time he’d gone to any event like this, even if it was the job of any international politician worth their salt to know who prominent foreigners were with regards to politics. And if either of them were aware as they surely would be about the recent change in government in the Empire that had assisted them in their civil war, and if they were aware of that then they’d certainly be aware of him. He walked over relatively casually, although with purpose.

“Madame President…” he began, proffering a hand to be shook, “…I’m afraid I am not conscious of who you are Sir, but nevertheless I am confident that it is a pleasure to meet you both. How are you?” he asked, confident and sure in himself. It would likely be a positive first impression to make, he reckoned. It would be awkward to deal with someone who did not appear sure of himself, and likewise to meet someone who was arrogant and impolite and had an inflated opinion of himself. He aimed to fall in between the two, and make an impact that painted him as a mature person for his youthful years.

He smiled to see the Atmorans out of the corner of his eye, with particular attention paid to the Princess. It was not his fault that she was very good looking, and it would be rude of him not to appreciate that fact, but he made sure not to stare or really be noticed by anyone that he was looking in her direction. She was a very different type of woman to Charlotte, the other Princess he was very much fond of, and in many ways the two of them were opposites, but Connor liked that. Variety was the spice of life, and options were options.

President Joshua Swanner stared out the window of the Klarity I43 and smiled. If the driver of the two-person vehicle - who was, of course, intently focused on the road - had glanced over and seen that smile, they would have seen that it was not Swanner's trademark movie star-type gigawatt smile, but a soft, sad smile, as if he was longing for something.

The truth was, Swanner was longing for days long past. When he had visited Infinity in 2052, and he had thought he had had a lot on his shoulders. Worrying about which nation liked which other one, which one had its finger on the nuclear button, what form of pact would be discussed or renewed today - the concerns of the Head of the Foreign Affairs Committee. The office of the Presidency, however, had changed him - his personality had been forged in the crucible of the situation room, where on a daily basis, Swanner and his team would decide who to make an orphan or a widow or who to leave alive for another chance, and risk that they might make more orphans and widows. Worrying about the welfare of the largest population on the face of Meillur, making sure nobody slipped through the cracks - of the welfare system or the border wall. It was exhausting, even with high approval ratings.

At that point, though, Swanner's train of thought was cut off as they arrived at the Jade Blossom Hotel. Swanner could see the line of five sleek black cars that they were a part of, a symbol of Connerian wealth and advancement. At that point, his driver got out and jogged around, opening the Falcon door soundlessly. Swanner clambered out and was handed a gun. Swanner could already see the other four VIPs getting out - Secretary of Internal Affairs Eleanor Steager, Secretary of Defense John McTavish, and two high-level advisors, Daniel Phoenix and Adam Smithers. The five VIPs were all armed and then surrounded by five individuals in black suits - none of the typical SWORD Operators with their body armor and automatic weapons. There were no hostile nations here.

Strolling into the hotel, the guards peeled off to speak to hotel staff about arrangements, while the VIPs split up to speak to various world leaders. Swanner was the first person to find someone, and that person just happened to be the PM of Atmora. Putting aside his feelings about being back in Infinity, Swanner walked up to Campbell and extended his hand.

"Ah, "Mr. Campbell. I don't believe we've been properly introduced. My name is Joshua Swanner, and I am the President of the USC. How are you on this lovely day?

A somber Empress Anna Charlotte of the Royally United Provinces walked out from the simple black car that had transported her to the Jade Blossom Hotel. Two weeks ago she would have visited North Timeria full of happiness and excitement at seeing a new and exotic country, and even down on the inside she felt that way, amazed by everything, however she was not allowed to look like such on the outside. She was dressed in a beautiful mourning dress, as she would be for the next nine months, and her hair tied up in a bun. She wore a black veil that was very beautiful, but still at the same time sad. The only source of color was a sliver sash across her shoulder and chest and her famous Princess Necklace, the most valuable necklace every created.

She moved gracefully and slowly with a regal grace, her hands crossed in front of her and six guards flanked her. Every since the assassination of her sister, Anna Charlotte and her family felt that there was threat to all of them and so there was increased security. The Empress herself wore bulletproof armor under her dress and the back of the veil's bonnet, which was disgusted as a long black shawl, came down to protect the back of head of her head, woven from thin but strong metal to protect her from attacks from the back.

Empress Anna Charlotte herself had always found the Freedom Defense Coalition amazing, and had always wanted to meet them, and see how they worked. She could care less about any events between the FDC and CDV, which was the opinion she found was of most regular people, but whatever. She suspected that she would enjoy herself a little. It also gave her an excuse of not to be in gloomy Winston. Behind her was her assistant, Lady Clarena Etten, dressed in a simple black dress that was economical and showed off her legs and arms, who would make sure that the Empress understood all of the political aspects of the meeting. Anna Charlotte was a social butterfly, not a political tick.

The group entered the hotel, the guards suspicious of everyone and the Empress and Lady Etten walking in quietly. Behind her black veil Empress Anna Charlotte gave a small smile at the other attendants, Lady Etten subtly whispering their names into her ear.

Prime Minister Campbell was talking to Iravian President Amber Kroningh when US Preisdent Joshua Swanner introduced himself to Prime Minister Campbell. Prime Minister Mariano Campbell shoked Swanner's hand and smiled
"Salutations President Joshua Swanner, I'm quite good myself and you?"

As Prime Minister Campbell was talking to President Swanner, Empress Anna Charlotte of the Royally United Provinces walked into the building behind her was 6 guardsmen, a bit extreme considering the summit would have KPC Operatives along with countless other Special Forces and Counterterrorist units standing by incase the FDC Summit was attacked by terrorist. Queen Lexi II walked towards Anna Charlotte and extended her for a handshake
"Salutations Empress Anna Charlotte, you may or may not know me however I'm Queen Lexi II of Atmora, I'm so sorry for your lost. You have my word that if anything happens during this summit that FDC personal will be able to handle any threat that comes to the FDC delegates.""

Swanner grinned. That mask came on once again.

"I couldn't be better. Quite a beautiful city to have a summit in, I must say. Do you have any idea when the briefing will get started?"

Empress Anna Charlotte, grabbing her skirts, gave a beautiful curtsy and smiled at Queen Lexi, who was famous in the upper class circles of royal houses in Western Europe for having been so aggressive to that funny old man, Mon. Rigidemétéo at the Accords the previous year, giving her ironically the name of the young Atmoran Adela.

"It is a wonderful and pleasurable honor to meet you Your Majesty. Thank you very much for speaking your concern and expressing your sorrow for my dear late sister, the Late Empress. She was gone to soon and the world shall never be the same with her passing."

The Empress of the Royally United Provinces paused, thinking of her sister, a tear forming in her eye, but she blinked and held it back. Instead she spoke on to move the conversation along and in hopes of establishing friendly standing with the delightful Queen Lexi II.

"And I personally have no doubt in the security skills of the FDC, they are of course famous for their strength and protection, but they at times lack the lack the old fashion gallantry of Provite Guards."

She leaned an inch forward and spoke quieter.

"Plus my father and husband wouldn't let me go anywhere without the guards to protect me."

President Grey came down stairs looking out of the glass elevator at who had already arrived. "The hell?" the President was more than shocked to see a Deritan at an FDC meeting. There wouldn't be any classified information at the meeting but still he was shocked. "Yes sir... That's Empress Anna Charlotte." his guard replied. "Well I'm glad I got that out here."

The glass doors opened and the President stepped out "Greeting everyone. I'm glad all of you could come and welcome to North Timeria... A beautiful country!" Outside the sun was shining and it was a perfect 88 degrees with a light breeze coming in from the beach. The President smiled as the sun shined through the large glass windows. "Now if you would all join me on the deck so that we could have a quick informal discussion about tomorrow's meeting. There will be refreshments and food and then I encourage you to take the night off and enjoy the city."

The President then went to talk to President Swanner as they walked to the deck "President Swanner. How are you?" President Grey extended his hand.

Empress Anna Charlotte smiled at the Queen of Atmora, who seemed very keyed on trying to convince her that they were safe. How silly it was in Anna Charlotte's opinion. But she wouldn't be as rude to say such a thing.

"I believe you very much Your Majesty. I know that I am among allies, after all, if I suspected that I was among enemies, I wouldn't have come."

Empress Anna Charlotte clapped her hands in delight, too soft to actually hear, but still a subtle clap. The President proved to an excellent host. The Empress had been too busy paying attention to the Queen of Atmora to hear the President's surprise from earlier. Meanwhile Lady Etten informed Anna Charlotte who Mr. Grey was, it didn't fully click until she said that he was the one who had wanted Brésil.

Swanner shook Grey's hand and shrugged. "I'm alright. Nothing like an FDC meeting for a little change of scenery."

He then looked about, taking in the scene.

"Well, then. Shall we get out there and talk about tomorrow's meeting?"

The Atmoran Delegates alon with their security detail went to their rooms, Princess Alyssa went into her own room with her personal Guard: Corporal Stella el Bridget staying in the room next to her, King Daral I and Queen Lexi II of course shared a room with their two personal Guards Captain Thomas el Bridget and Lieutenant Sophia Kolcei, and finally Prime Minister Campbell went to his room along with Agent Vincent Oorschot in the next room.

Queen Lexi II looked at King Daral I and asked him a question

"So do you think your proposal for Joint FDC Counterterrorism unit will be accepted?"
