'Ey URA, I actually have a few questions regarding TFA. Snooping around the thread's OP and literally nothing more, I was very intrigued. Can you give me a brief OOC summary of it? After all, special forces play very heavily into Vistora's military doctrine, though I'm guessing TFA is an MT group.

TFA is usually a P/MT group.

Um. It's an international coalition of special forces teams, supported by a network of units, R&D, and various other personnel, aircraft, and vessels that assist the special forces units when not being supported by local assets.

That's about it, really.

Also, I'll get a Russian post up... sometime... But... alcohol...

Was gonna drop a quick app, but given what I've seen of the anal distendings doled out by Die erworbenen Namen, I think I'll wait until I have the time to draft up something lengthy and respectable...

Glad I checked previous apps first.

I actually considered adding it for your sake, but memetic weaponry always impressed upon me as a larger-scale weapon, not one to be instilled in a handheld firearm. And maymaytic weaponry... well, I wanted to keep it somewhat serious.

The Commonwealth uses handheld chemical weapons, and although they can be exceedingly dangerous to the wielder, they can also be absolutely devastating.

FTL travel is a thing, however it is subject to heavy governmental regulation and only megacorparations and of course the government possess starships equipped with Alcubierre Drives. Inhabited worlds within the Apollo System (That's a fancy name for our solar system) are typically more advanced than extrasolar colonies, and nanotechnology is in heavy use, particularly in the field of computing. Gauss weapons are the norm, although gunpowder is still used many sidearms. Plasma and laser weapons also exist, but are often too large to be used as handheld weapons.
Does your nation utilize any elements/materials not known to exist? Negative Matter, which is used in our Alcubierre Drives.
Are there any supernatural or fantasy elements? If so, briefly describe them: No.
Has your nation visited, explored, or established livable areas on any extraterrestrial planets/moons? If so, briefly describe them: Colonies have been established on many worlds within the Apollo system, most notably on Mars, which is now home to over a hundred bustling megacities. Extrasolar colonies have also been established on several inhabitable planets, however they tend to be smaller and less advanced than the "Core Worlds".
Are there any non-human sentient species within your nation? If so, briefly describe them: No.

If only you'd told fucking 2015 me that on his birthday. The hangover the day after really was the definition of mindfuckery plus Tsar Bomba going off in your head. What's also hilarious is that that is literally the only part of that party I can remember... Conveniently forgetting shitposting on the Hammerfall thread in that state of stupor for a moment.

If it matters, I got even drunker last night, and woke up still drunk, and I'm not hungover. I think you have to get super drunk to beat the hangover. *nod nod*

I also need to post on the Russian Winter thread... I'll get to that tonight. I promise. (Only said this all weekend)

The United Remnants of America wrote:That's fair enough. And it raises a point that I've seen in the current AAA games that are in PMT environments, such as CoD: BO3, where the caliber rounds seems to be different than most modern rounds. Iirc, a really popular round in BO3 was a 6.8mm round, which isn't extremely popular currently.

But still, I guess it just depends on what you want in your canon. In my world, the popular rounds are Both NATO rounds, 9x19 Para for most weapons, as well as 5.7mm for Special forces pistols, .300 WinMag and .50 BFG for sniper rounds and the ever-present 12 gauge shotgun shell. So it's all based on preference.

Yep, more or less. In my canon, all calibers, including shotgun shells, are measured simply in millimeters, with rough equivalencies to English calibers. The .44 Magnum is now the 11mm and the .40 is now the 10mm (I know the 10mm Auto does exist IRL). Most of the calibers are integers as well, except for the 5.7mm and 7.8mm, which are merely my canon's rechristening of the NATO 5.56 and 7.62. This much is evident in my weapons factbook.

Replying to 4 day old post because I can.

So does this mean that a 12mm round would not be unreasonable for an automatic weapon in the Vistoran canon? Because I was already considering making whatever-my-character's-name-was' main weapon a crappy version of the Excidian Perelandran Armaments Starsong Mk II, which fires 12mm by 48mm rocket ammunition.

Just imagine the Starsong but with less ammunition and worse guidance systems and shorter range.

It would be on the heavier side for sure, but yeah, that would be viable. Keep in mind that it would likely be slow-firing and have limited ammunition as well. Will the projectiles be ordinary bullets with explosive ordinance or gyrojets/miniature rockets?

Ideally, it would fire Gyrojet-style (more modern example is likely EXACTO, but DARPA hasn't given much details on how those actually work) ammunition, but I suppose caseless 12mm ammunition could also be fired if the rockets were hard to come by.

For obvious reasons, the rifle would not be able to use cased ammunition.
