Hehe, kinda. That is, until my father was just one day like,
"Son, you suck at college."
"Yeah, I know..."
"And you keep wanting my help paying for it."
"Yeah, I know..."
"And you know that you're running out of time before I kick you out."
"Yeah, I know..."
"But now you have a fiancee that lives in the Aviation capital of the northwest."
"Yeah, I know..."
"...do you want to move out over there and be a helicopter pilot instead of an HR guy?"
"YES."
"Fine, that I'll help you with, but that is my final gift to you."

*ahem* Yeah, pro-piloting is much more intense than going private. So much more stuff to memorize, so many more regulations... fun though, I love it.

Like I implied above, I kinda suck at college, but now that I'm in a flight college I have a 3.7 GPA and I can't complain :D.

Oh, haha, Pacific Northwest, yeah. Sorry, "America is the Center of the World"-syndrome kicking in XD.

Yuppers, used to live way over in the East Coast. My family was elated to hear I wanted to finally move out. Not that I was ever opposed, it's just that I didn't have anywhere I particularly wanted to go.

Hehehe, my dad used to be an engineer for Boeing over at the Everett plant (the one with the giant-ass building). I'm a born and bred Seattleite, currently studying biotech at the University of Washington. Always cool to meet someone in the area.

I'm livin' it up in Idaho. Which apparently has a huuugggeee aerospace industrial complex going on, I had absolutely no idea before I moved here.

For some reason you don't see many Northwesterners on the internet. It's weird.

Wut? Since when did Idaho become an aviation hub? Since when did Idaho become anything?

And I guess the lack of Northwesterners on the Internet probably has to do with the lack of Northwesterners in the world. There really aren't a whole lot of us.

I know, right? Couer d'Alene and Boise have huge aviation manufacturing facilities apparently, the former being the headquarters of one of the big name companies. Thoougghh, I forget which one. I've seen more aircraft in the sky here in one day than I did in any day in Philly, and I see a lot of flying-themed stuff here. Also birds of prey. And, for some reason, seabirds. I haven't even seen an actual potato farm since I moved here. The only non-flying thing I've seen from here is cowboy stuff, since Idaho considers itself as part of the Wild West.

And finally it's the cultural center of the Basque minority of the United States.

Who knew?

And well, I guess you can count one more Northwesterner :D. Love it more than anywhere else I'd been in the US.

Well, adding to the easiness we were told to do a Chinese report on a Chinese translation of his works.

Though given how shit everyone else's Chinese in my class is (its hong kong ffs) it's agonizing for them, probably.

Aha. I guess I've been spending too much time around FT nations in the LoM, as my first instinct when I hear "fabricator" is to think of BLOODY NONSENSE the molecular assembler mass fabricators that are ubiquitous in wanky FT civs.

Is that what people mean when they say fabricator? Arcus and I always just called any machine for putting stuff together a fabber. What shocking revelations.

I use "fabricator" to refer to a general-purpose programmable fully-automated factory that produces complete products from schematics. No nanowankery need be involved. (Even with molecular assemblers, it would still be cheaper to use macro-scale assemblers for most tasks - something that annoyed me about Eclipse Phase.)

I know the Makinaverse was intended to be Singy's attempt at some remote semblance of seriousness, but Christ alive, reading the general setting dispatch makes it hard to think of its as such.

Anyways, people who are in the RWW RP, don't forget to act alive. URA's good, but some others still need to add at least a little input.

I'm sticking pretty solidly to DXHR for Sarif, though I do enjoy the technological wriggle room afforded by a setting not as realism-constrained as mine. Speaking of which, of the many settings that gave inspiration to the Makinaverse, which one possesses the hovertanks you referred to?

I have no idea, but according to Singy, "hovertanks are limited to loominarty, china and makinabayan at wide-scale, experimental/small scale in others", which means there are hovertanks. United Reich (Acheronis) wants hovertanks also.

Chimera have some hovering critters, but I've mostly refrained from using them for the Nayba so far, making that an area of current research for them.
