In the barest possible sense, it's Japanese animation. If you want to call it such, it's a cartoon. But due to the cultural differences and the massive counter-culture in Japan, for the most part, anime is nothing like a western cartoon.

Most western cartoons I watch are anime-inspired though, so it's hard for me to make a massive distinction.

Fair enough.
But what I was referencing were cartoons he'd know, like Loony Toons, Ed, Edd, 'n' Eddy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, maybe Adventure Time and Steven Universe, but you get the point.

Yes! Next time, we'll give ample warning beforehand. Then when the hammer drops... BAM! Animu flags everywhere!

Well... Apart from the hull integrity...
I was kind of sceptical about that...

Unless you have some kind of inertial dampener technology which would prevent the human pilot from feeling the full acceleration, then yes, an AI will withstand much higher acceleration than a human. The limitations are closer to the theoretical maximum of the vessel's space frame / hull, then.

You should definitely do more with that.

Even for a setting that's naturally prone to sugar-bowling as that, they would take it to the next level and treat what they did as the most serious thing ever. Just to start us off, this is something like what they would look like. Except serious.
