Setting Description

Briefly describe nation's setting and tech level: The North American Socialist Commonwealth is an alternate near future interpretation of the eventual fate of the United States (after a the Sino-American War and a more or less peaceful Revolution). It is a Post-Cyberpunk and/or Biopunk society. The Commonwealth's specialty technologically speaking is the field of Cybernetics and Biotechnology. Less advanced areas are the fields of Weaponry and Artificial Intelligence (though the weakness in Artificial Intelligence is entirely artificial as the technology exists but is outlawed). The continuing trend of miniaturization and increased internet networking have remained a factor with small watch sized interfaces or interface glasses being the norm, though a small but rapidly growing market in computerized contact lenses. Most industrial manufacturing is done via nanotechnology or more commonly 3d Printing. Most nuclear power is of the fusion variety with "Warm" Fusion (Warm meaning cooler than the heart of a star but still quite hot) being the most common. Space tech is still mostly Earth Orbital though almost all space travel is through teleoperated drones rather than by manned spacecraft. There have been some attempts to develop interstellar spacecraft however there has been little native advancement.
Does your nation utilize any elements/materials not known to exist? Yes, and that material (known as Aetherium) is the root source of all fantastic elements in the Commonwealth.
Are there any supernatural or fantasy elements? If so, briefly describe them: Yes, an energy particulate known as Aetherium generates nonnewtonian effects. The largest and most spectacular of these were the massive interuniversal (or possibly just interstellar/planetary) portals that allow the Commonwealth to interact with the Multiverse (ie the NSverse). Aetherium can also be used by attuned individuals to generate certain effects (ie magic) through practice and a certain method (no entirely unlike the scientific method including experimentation and the publishing of a peer reviewed paper when finishing a spell). In short think of Aetherium as a kind of Super Photon that can generate weird effects and mages as people genetically predisposed (and trained) to manipulate said super photons. Also there are nonhumans sentients, but there is nothing inherently magical about these persons.
Has your nation visited, explored, or established livable areas on any extraterrestrial planets/moons? If so, briefly describe them: No, our exploratory efforts have been through the permanent inter-dimensional portals rather than through space.
Are there any non-human sentient species within your nation? If so, briefly describe them: Yes there are Elves, Treefolk, Beastlings, and Changelings (in the Mystrian Tradition) in Commonwealther lands. There is evidence that Dwarves used to exist in the Veiled Isle however it is also evident that Dwarves that were alive are now long since dead. There are Unbidden (a Mystrian Race) in the Commonwealth however they are legally nonentities, and are officially hunted down and summarily executed per the annexation treaty of the Veiled Isle (of course unofficially there have been programs to grant mainland asylum to the nonviolent unbidden). Finally there are five fully sapient artificial intelligences in the Commonwealth three o which are serving the Commonwealth Defense Force, two of which are civilians. Three were created accidentally (and there true identities concealed), two of which (the Gracie twins) were deliberately created. There are also numerous low sapient Artificial Intelligences in the Commonwealth, which can be considered at least partially sentient.

Accepted! And yes, giving PMT the attention it deserves is the reason I created this group in the first place. I was rather surprised to find FT groups like GESO and MT groups like SACTO and the IFC as well as numerous other random ones, but no dedicated PMT group. We've grown admirably fast.

And the REC council is a consortium individuals basically just me, at the moment...
