I mean, considering how I let Alexandria make his nation in a sunken alien starship, it's not like I could reasonably withhold that aspect anymore. So yes, aliens. Just different aliens.

Different Aliens right

How about Alpha Ceph from Crysis?

No aliens are allowed to be present and alive. Only alien wreckage and remnants.

Hmn, yeah, that might work to a degree. Maybe have an AI or an alien AI creating Nayba Collective after... nuking of Siberia or something? There's not as much call for the way they are without the catastrophes that created them. I'll have to think about it.

I've heard stories about hydrogen being a p*ss poor choice of fuel for all military vehicles.

Is this true?

Depends by what you mean by "piss poor". It's very true that current uses for hydrogen combustion are limited, but that mostly has to do with storage methods. Current methods for storing hydrogen require bulky cooling and compression assemblies just to accomplish mediocre volumetric energy densities. Basically, for every unit of volume, you get much less energy with hydrogen than hydrocarbon fuels.

We get around this problem by using a theoretical formulation of hydride chemicals that allow us to store hydrogen cheaply and in high densities.

Here's a good link

Otherwise, it's a perfectly viable, environmentally sound combustion fuel. We Vistorans use it in pretty much every application where electric power won't suffice.

DoD records are pretty near the top of my list for source reliability :P

I'd also like to add that hydrogen is generally required for vehicles powered by nuclear fusion reactors (most of my vehicles run on them), so you want to keep a few spare canisters of hydrogen aboard said vehicles.

Well... yeah. I mean, in the case of fusion power, weight and/or volume of said fuel is much less of a concern. It's the fuel itself that's difficult, requiring (usually, but not in all cases) a specific mixture of the deuterium and tritium isotopes of hydrogen.

Also, I'd like to point out that it's generally a bad idea to put crew members near an active fusion reactor. I had to invent an entirely new shielding system just for my Corinus.

Oh, don't worry too much about that. We sorted out that problem using our own brand of copious handwavery anti-neutron shielding.

Anti-neutron shielding exists, and can perhaps be improved, so it's not too handwavy. Of course, you can always go the Soviet method of saving money and NOT shielding the reactor. If the crewmembers complain, tell them it's for the Glory of the Mozzerland.

How "handwavy" is perpetual energy?

I have Blue Energy, which is some sort of a perpetual energy, discovered in some planet. It powers most of our nation, especially our space ships. It can also be used as a weapon... a very powerful one.

Well, i needed a "plot driver", but uhh...
