Silvia's personality presents itself. And the bit about her technically being the Crown Princess if the empire still ruled can be used as an explanation at a later point for if she is confronted over what may be seen as disrespect to a noble.

Actually the Brunshelms were also former nobles, they were of Saradenan nobility before the abolishment of royalty during the transition of the former Empire of Eragida to the Esgonian Federation in 1905. Now their titles only serve as a symbol of their history.

Pff...nah, the Esgonians would just like to keep their government.
Besides, they'd only be serving for about 7 years before the new elections begin. Not to mention that there were only two instances that former nobles or royals have gained a seat in power, 2014 and 1983

Also something: They're a military-oriented family, as much as some of the surviving royals. Just that Erhard decided to take diplomacy instead.
