Government planning massive Technology push

Lion's Throne, Rothlock - Minister of Technology Nitor Fortworth met with President Pendergrass today to discuss an upcoming grant fund for Bullet Train and High Speed Internet projects. The projected 450 Billion dinari grant will have more emphasis on standardizing 1 Gigabit connections across the nation through private Internet Service Providers, though members of the MK Senate questioned whether the price tag is another example of Pendergrass's overenthusiastic support of Information Technology and Infrastructure and deep spending based on biased interests.

"This is yet another example of favoritism," Congressman Zeyre Bash rants on the floor. "When's the last time he showed interest in anything other industry besides transportation and IT? The Manufacturing Industry is falling apart as-is! Where's the President's response on that?!"

President Pendergrass insists that the availability of such implements will give Magikavela the means to catch up to other nations in regards to internet availability and productivity. The public has full support of the Bullet Train initiative, but High Speed seems to be another matter. Recent polls suggest a large age gap when asked whether they supported or opposed the nationwide broadband plan.

"It's bull$#!&," one anonymous senior told MKTV. "All those damn young'uns will do is play computer games and pirate movies. Back in my day we had 5000 baud to get stuff done, and we LIKED it."

"The old man has no idea what he's talking about," a young executive replied. "Teleconferencing depends on connection speed. Servers. Telecommuting. We're not using horses and buggies anymore, and bandwidth demands will only rise in the coming years. Better now than never."

"Friggin' awesome," one college student exclaimed. "Now I can download my IS--..professor's video lectures faster. This is how you should use taxes."
The plan is expected to take effect by Fall of this year.

1Gb Internet plan hit with lag

Lion's Throne, Rothlock - The territories have shown opposition to the National Government's grant fund to standardize 1 Gigabit internet nationwide due to the inevitable tax increases the price tag would inflict.

"That price tag will swallow us whole," Governor John Doleman of Kyrough told the press. "The nation's economy just went past 1 Trillion not too long ago, and he wants to kill our growth for the sake of a speed boost? Either cut the price tag in half or let the territories handle it." He has stated that the "speed boost" in question refers to the internet grant and not the Bullet Train initiative, though he would still like the price tag to drop considerably.

Other territories echoed Governor Doleman's complaint, even the loyalist territory of Fortress.

"We can't take any more tax increases right now, so just cut the price tag a little and we'll be happy," Governor Roger North stated with an informal tone.

With the Magikavelan Congress and territories against him, President Pendergrass issued a statement regarding the matter:

"I've heard your concerns and shall agree to reduce the grant allocated for Internet by 75 billion. I spoke with the Ministry of Finances, and the grant is arranged that any money unused for two years automatically returns to the treasury. The allocation towards Bullet Train infrastructure shall remain unchanged."

For the record, 60% of the 450 billion Dinari grant was allocated towards the internet grants. However, this change would drop the internet grant fund to 195 billion.

Certain territories, however, wanted to do away with the internet part of the grant and have it drop to 255 billion for the Bullet Trains.

"Come [i]on[/], our internet's just fine! We shouldn't have to bend over because people work their connection in a wasteful manner," Governor Lennard Briggs of Gracious chuckled in a jolly tone. "We'll take the trains, though; traffic's been a pain in the ass for a while!"

The Ministry of Technology has considered talks with FlashNet Communications, located in Tutlingburg, to assist in the implementation. This has come under fire for undermining the nation's private sector, but the MT made no further comments on the matter.

It remains to be seen how Congress will respond to the changes the President issued to the bill.
