Sorry if this has been suggested before but what if we have a Miss Universe type thing, and call it Ms Nationstates. ( or Mr? )
I know that it isn't a sport and I checked the Jolt forums to see if it has been tried before and I got no results so anyways... Tell me what you guys think, plus if this does happen, I don't want to host cuz i'm still a noob so anyway thats it.

If it's IC, then like the WorldVision it's more for NationStates than NS Sports.

I like this idea. It isn't the sport, but it is a sort of competition between nations.

I like the idea too, but as someone else already said, it would probably fit better in "NationStates."

Pageants have a lot in common with sport, and not just athletes chasing the contestants  I don't see an issue with the thread being here, but it doesn't matter much either way.

I like the idea, but I think the topic should go to the "NationStates" section...

Alright, to all you people saying it should be in General: that is not what General is for. It is for debating, and talking about whatever you feel like talking about. Anything that requires even some RP'ing should be in the Diplomacy forums, placed where it is appropriate.

I don't think it's really helping the idea that pretty much all the discussion is about what forum this goes in, but we'll prolly have to wait for the thread starting country to post more info on whether this is IC or OOC. But yeah, this belongs in NationStates, like WorldVision. This may be about a competition, but it's not sports, and seems like something that would be done entirel through RP, no scorinations.

The concept for an RP sounds interesting. However, it belongs in NationStates, not in NS Sports. Moved for your convenience.

While this seems a pretty good idea, I have one question. How will this be done exactly?

We are missing vital components for a pageant here. The contestants mostly. :?

I like this idea, it would be really nice in NationStates, but my nation is chock full of feminists. So I think I'll... probably not contribute to it

Might I suggest a modification from the RL Miss Universe ( alterations as these requiements speak of Miss USA/ Miss Teen USA as well)

ARE THERE AGE REQUIREMENTS?
Yes. Miss Universe must be at least 18 years of age and under 27 years of age by February 1st in the year they compete in the national competition.
CAN A DELEGATE COMPETE MORE THAN ONCE?
Contestants may compete more than once in the preliminary (state) competition but may only compete in Miss Universe once

ARE CONTESTANTS REQUIRED TO HAVE A COACH?
No. While some feel more prepared when they work with an experienced person who can give them tips on competition, many women have won titles without any outside training. Candidates also turn to their state and national directors for assistance as the directors are experienced in providing effective counsel about the competition.

CAN CONTESTANTS BE MARRIED?
No. contestants may not be married or pregnant. They must not have ever been married, not had a marriage annulled nor given birth to a child. The titleholders are also required to remain single throughout their reign.

ARE CONTESTANTS ALLOWED TO HAVE COSMETIC SURGERY?
Although contestants are discouraged from altering their own natural beauty, no restrictions are placed on cosmetic surgery; it is impossible to enforce such a rule. In fact the organization has allowed padding in an effort to discourage participants from permanently altering their bodies for the competition.

HOW ARE THE SEMI-FINALISTS CHOSEN?
a dual-paneled judging system. One panel judges the preliminary rounds; the other panel judges the live telecast. All contestants are judged in three areas of preliminary competition which are not always televised due to time constraints:
1. Interviews - Judges spend time with each delegate to learn about her successes, goals and ambitions.
2. Swimsuit Competition - Each delegate wears one of a variety of swimsuit styles provided by a sponsor.
3. Evening Gown Competition - Each delegate wears a gown she has chosen for herself.
All scores are tallied in each of the three categories. The contestants with the highest aggregate scores are named the semi-finalists. The competition is narrowed twice more to produce the winner.

HOW ARE THE TITLEHOLDERS AND RUNNERS-UP SELECTED?
Once the finalists are named, their scores are discarded, and they begin competing anew. In the final competition, the same three areas (Interview, Swimsuit and Evening Gown) are judged. The judges' scores in these categories are tallied and the winners are named live on the air.

We all know there is the much anticipated ( and hyped) National Costume parade and the various dance and singing routines the contestants preform as well, but neither is a part of the judging process. Also for Miss Universe ( RL) there is no performance/ talent competetion.
