His reason for me not joining as an observer is simple: URA has opposed Feng for fifty years or more, and continues to oppose it.

In that case, I'm going to accept Great Feng as an observer, but nothing more (just to make the URA happy). Great Feng will be permitted to discuss in this thread, not influence voting or IC actions in any way. Does that seem a good compromise?
