Scanning the crowd he did not see any familiar faces. At age 29, Peter Jennings was the youngest foreign correspondent employed by the Baptistan City Sentinel. However, his age was very misleading. He had already earned his MBA in journalism as well as a MA in political science both from the University of Baptistan. Jennings had first developed a taste for international affairs while studying abroad at Oxford. After graduation Jennings quickly found a job with with the Sentinel who had sent him to cover every major war that had broken out in the last five years. Now Peter Jennings found himself in yet another foreign land. Rising from his seat he addressed the man standing behind the podium at the front of the room. "Peter Jennings from the Baptistan City Sentinel. Mr President during your campaign you spent a great amount of time talking about the economy. How do you propose to improve conditions for the working poor in your country while holding to the conservative principals of your party?"

Simon Pelmit smiled. "That is an excellent question Mr Jennings," he began, "To start with, we are going to continue the policies already in place. However, I do realize that this is a problem, and there are issues here that are unaddressed and unresolved. One of these is, of course, low wages. A knee jerk reaction here would be to raise the minimum wage, but that almost always has unintended consequences, first and foremost being that it tends to hurt small businesses, which, of course, is an extremely negative thing. However, I plan to propose a series of tax incentives to businesses for raising wages, especially where those citizens who are living below the poverty line. This plan, I believe, will not infringe upon the rights of our businesses and will not hurt the economy, but at the same time, I believe, will do wonders for those who currently are at the lower end of the wealth spectrum."
