This thread is for the revival of the MSTO in The Western Isles. The new membership will consist of Miklania, Muunilenst, Polar Svalbard, Doppler, and Franco-Albion.

Overview:
The Mesder Sea Treaty Organization (MSTO), will be an intergovernmental military alliance based on the Mesder Sea Treaty. The organization will constitute a system of collective defence whereby its member states agree to mutual defense in response to an attack by any external party. MSTO's headquarters will be located in Franco-Albion. The MSTO will be formed in response to the increasing threat of Communist Imperialism in The Western Isles. The nations of the Western area of the region will seek to band together to defend themselves, others, and to promote peace and prosperity throughout the region.

Structure:
MSTO will be governed by the MSTO Council, composed of representatives of all member states. The representatives will normally be ambassadors, but may be foreign minister, defense ministers, of heads of government. The Council will be headed by a Secretary General. The MSTO Council may shift authority to a single Supreme Allied Commander, if they deem it necessary (e.g. large scale war).

Eurania has declared itself a Communist nation. This may be the MSTO's first trial.
How to respond? Obviously I don't want to go gun-ho and charge-in, all in the name of Democracy.
If we're too quick to pull the trigger, we'll get a reputation of a warmongering community.

So, I propose that MSTO members initiate a first wave of sanctions, targeted at Euranian VIPs linked to the regime.

Secondly, I propose that MSTO members also offer amnesty to any remnants of the Euranian democratic system.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves. First we need to establish the MSTO.

Well, it looks like Polar and Doppy are AWOL, so we will have to vote on the charter later. First order of business then, shall be to discuss how we are going to run the MSTO, and what some of our main policies should be.

Depends if the MSTO is going to be a purely military affair, or involving political and/or economic interests too.

I envision it as a military endeavor, but with other parts of foreign policy mixed in. That is kind of required, as military foreign policy and other foreign policies go hand in hand, but I do not think that we need to worry too much about that. Most efforts would probably revolve around defense deals.

We should also promote humanitarian missions during peacetime.

Yea I would like it to be just a military alliance as well.

In which case, as a starting point, we'll need to each have a Rapid Reaction Force that can be deployed regionally/internationally within 48hrs (preferably 24hrs) and each member will also need to contribute to standing operational bases, such as the one suggested in the TGs.
