President Castillo returned to Channel 8, the state-run television broadcasting station to denounce the actions of the Ministry of Education of San Martin. San Martinia recently altered its' curriculum to confront the idea that Simon Bolivar, the liberator of Puertollano, was in fact a megalomaniac and dictator of Puertollano. Simon Bolivar, who the Bolivarian Republic is named after, is beloved greatly within Puertollano. There is even an agreement between the left and right factions inside of the country about the legacy of Bolivar, but his name is frequently invoked by the President more than by the opposition. Simon Bolivar is important to Puertollano and is seen in many aspects of current life. Within the Presidential Palace itself, dozens of portraits of Simon Bolivar can be found, a recent destroyer was named after his Vice-President (Santander), Castillo has removed statues of Spanish Monarchs and replaced them with 'El Libertardo', social programs are named after Bolivar and people's militias are named after him too. Riled up on national television, the President blasted San Martina:
Yesterday I would have said you cannot show me anything else that would change my mind in my opinion that San Martina is a curse of South America. In the recent hours, I have only been proven to be true, again. It is our duty to protect the legacy of the Liberator, Simon Bolivar, who liberated our nation in the year of 1818 from the Spanish Empire. Because of this, the Bolivarian Republic is indebted to protecting him from slander, especially those who seek to undermine our society. Without Bolivar, the people of Puertollano would not enjoy the liberty they have today. Without Bolivar, we would still be subjugated under the thumb of European powers. Look at French Guiana - had Simon Bolivar have the opportunity to liberate them, we would have been living peacefully, co-existing in the community of South America. Now look at it. French Guiana is one giant Francophone military base. We would have been the same, one giant airstrip for the Spanish Airforce. No! Now we are an independently-minded nation, seeking an anti-imperialist doctrine and spreading the truth about peace and socialism.
The vile, low attacks by the San Martin Ministry of Education are despicable and are an affront to the Bolivarian Republic. They forget that Jose de San Martin was in fact a stooge of the Spanish Empire for most of his life, fighting for Spain against people across the entire globe. Yes, and we cannot forget that San Martin was involved in North Africa, fighting for the Spanish to oppress the people of North Africa. This is no anti-imperialist hero, this is a royalist stooge who only sought independence when fitting. He is the same as King Ferdinand, the same as the royals in Spain. I am in favour of the liberation of all people, not just South America, but Africa too. A person involved in the colonisation and rape of Africa is not an anti-imperialist, they are the worst kind of early imperialists. We cannot stand by as the record of Simon Bolivar, the liberator, is tarnished by a nation named after the coloniser of Africa. That's why our Ministry of Education will continue the Mission Anti-Imperialista, will continue to teach our children the truth of the Liberator, not the anti-Puertollanoan propaganda. I will also dedicate millions to the expansion of the Simon Bolivar Museum in central Caracas, so that people may arrive in the Bolivarian Republic and learn the truth of our past, not the misinformation.
