United Islamic Coalition Leadership Challenge: Delshad
Abdollah Delshad, candidate for the leadership of the UIC, has presented an ultra-nationalist campaign, sometimes borrowing language from Persian Gulf Union leaders. "Persia is and shall always be, the greatest nation in the world! But we must wipe out the filth that has infiltrated us! Communist schemers like Akbar, and compromising liars like Jalili!" He went on to say at a rally. "This is a revolution! It begins in the halls of power, but it will end when a Pan-Iranist Union is triumphant across the world!" Has has gained notoriety for regularly insulting leaders in Persia and elsewhere. Saying about Puertollano's war against Espalsio, he said "A Communist and an Imperialist fighting, it is good. So we will only have one enemy to fight." His language has raised cautious among many concerned about his extremism. He said "Persia needs a radical transformation, from Mosul to Tabriz. Radical transformation, from the socialist tyranny of Davud Akbar, to a strong proud nation. The Shahs of the past will never have been prouder." He also faces controversy from borrowing from a speech by Saddam Hussein, saying "we are ready to sacrifice our souls, our children and our families so as not to give up Persia. We say this so no one will think that the colonialists are capable of breaking the will of the Persians with its weapons." Compared to Saddam's speech in which he said "we are ready to sacrifice our souls, our children and our families so as not to give up Iraq. We say this so no one will think that America is capable of breaking the will of the Iraqis with its weapons." Delshad remains in 3rd place, but it is scary to see him gain ground.
The Polls give Saeed Jalili a strong lead among party members:
Saeed Jalili: 36%
Arish Faridoon: 25%
Abdollah Delshad: 20%
Hasan Bahman: 19%
