United Islamic Coalition Leadership Challenge: Delshad

Abdollah Delshad, candidate for the leadership of the UIC, has presented an ultra-nationalist campaign, sometimes borrowing language from Persian Gulf Union leaders. "Persia is and shall always be, the greatest nation in the world! But we must wipe out the filth that has infiltrated us! Communist schemers like Akbar, and compromising liars like Jalili!" He went on to say at a rally. "This is a revolution! It begins in the halls of power, but it will end when a Pan-Iranist Union is triumphant across the world!" Has has gained notoriety for regularly insulting leaders in Persia and elsewhere. Saying about Puertollano's war against Espalsio, he said "A Communist and an Imperialist fighting, it is good. So we will only have one enemy to fight." His language has raised cautious among many concerned about his extremism. He said "Persia needs a radical transformation, from Mosul to Tabriz. Radical transformation, from the socialist tyranny of Davud Akbar, to a strong proud nation. The Shahs of the past will never have been prouder." He also faces controversy from borrowing from a speech by Saddam Hussein, saying "we are ready to sacrifice our souls, our children and our families so as not to give up Persia. We say this so no one will think that the colonialists are capable of breaking the will of the Persians with its weapons." Compared to Saddam's speech in which he said "we are ready to sacrifice our souls, our children and our families so as not to give up Iraq. We say this so no one will think that America is capable of breaking the will of the Iraqis with its weapons." Delshad remains in 3rd place, but it is scary to see him gain ground.

The Polls give Saeed Jalili a strong lead among party members:
Saeed Jalili: 36%
Arish Faridoon: 25%
Abdollah Delshad: 20%
Hasan Bahman: 19%

War Declared!

The Orostani Assembly voted to declare war on Espalsio today. A full naval blockade of Espalsian Argentina is being enforced by the Orostani navy. Rocket artillery has struck at airfields and other military targets. Tanks are advancing into Argentina, and citizens living near the border have informed us that the movement of tanks through roadways has disrupted their commutes, many people fearing being killed in the crossfire should they take the train. Trains have been rerouted to avoid rail ways near the border in an attempt to assist. Orostani landing craft have crossed the Bruno's Aires Bay Area from Uruguay, and have begun landing on the coast, supported from the air and sea. Aircraft have made passes over Argentina, attempting to secure the air. Only time will tell if the Espalsian makes the right choice, and surrenders to the Puertollan-Orostani alliance.

Warning to South America

The French Government has issued this statement to the world's media:

It is with growing concern that we have been following developments in South America over the last several weeks, and with shock that we learn our partners have launched an invasion of our other ally Espalsio. The Republic wishes to ensure that this needless death be ended as soon as possible, and so we will give all military forces 24 hours to withdraw to pre-war positions prior to French fulfillment of our alliance with Espalsio in the Mediterranean Pact. We encourage diplomatic dialogue, and demand that the safety of civilians be of concern to all combatants, however will stand by our treaty obligations to the letter of international law.

France shuts down Coal

The Sixth Republic has passed a new set of regulations aimed at killing off domestic demand for coal. As part of French obligations to the Moscow Green Treaty on Climate Change, all coal production is to be taxed by an addition 25% per annum, with another 25% being added to the tax for a further three years. Finally, five years from now all coal production in Metropolitan France, Algeria, and Indochina will be shut down by government degree. All coal imports will be subject to a 15% tariff, in addition to the common EIM tariff (which has been excluded from existing FTAs), being implemented one month from now. All government revenue from the new tariffs and taxes will be used to subsidize efforts aimed at conversion from coal to renewable energies. President Leonard has called the series of regulations the "death of unsustainable coal consumption in the Republic."

GU stands with France!

After both Puertollano and Orostan declared war on Espalsio. France issued a warning calling for Puertollano and Orostan to stand down. It has now been confirmed that the GU has decided to stand with the french statement and will provide aid if nessasary.

Trade deal with SNL!

After negotiations on both sides a new trade deal with SNL has been reached. The GU has agreed to export more automobiles to SNL in exchange for an increased shipping of uranium to the GU. More details to come as they are provided.

5 Frigates to hit the seas next Thursday

Next Thursday is a big day for the GU Royal Navy. All four F-125 Class Frigates will be launched alongside the previously delayed Sachsen Class Frigate. However the government has re-affirmed that this was the scheduled date and the potential crisis in South America has no affect on the launch of these ships.

Moscow Backs France
In an interview with Soviet Primier, Igor Ivanov he had a few choice words on behalf of the National Soviet regarding the current situation within the Americas.
"The Soviet Union will uphold its promise to France, to Espalsio, and to the greater European community. I wish to see the sides of this conflict settle and with a willingness to establish a long lasting peace. HOWEVER, we will stand by and allow this peace to be achieved at the expense of Europe and her people, and as such the Soviet Union will back the French in their ultimatum. Within 24hrs if their is no response than this act of war conducted by Orostan and Puertollano against Espalsio will act as an act of war against Europe and as such the Soviet Union herself."

Soviet Forces Surround Minsk

In the offensive conducted 2-3 days ago the current situation has seen the liberation of much of Belarus' northern and eastern frontier. Once reaching the river Dnieper, force pushed forward. With forces moving in north from the Soviet Baltic divisions and forces moving west past the Dnieper the city is expected to be surrounded within the coming hours with Soviet airforces conducting airstrikes against the outer city western defenses to allow the Northern forces room to surround the city's western flank. Once the outer perimeter of the city is cleared, forces will move in with the objective of capturing Danik and pushing out the rest of loyalist forces.

'France does not really care for peace,' Castillo

The French Empire and its colonies, along with mindless puppet-states that bow to its demands have threatened Puertollano with war and threaten to invade our homeland and tear our nation apart. France, in a recent statement says it wishes for peace, so does Germany and the Soviet Union. France does not really care for peace; they did not care for peace in Transylvania, instead they began immediate hostilities, they did not care for peace in Indochina, it was Japan as well as US who had to convince them attend peace accords, they did not care for peace in all of their regime change wars. France is the largest war-mongerer in the modern world yet they accuse us of not caring for diplomacy and peace. Germany does not care about peace; they refused to acknowledge when Herpostan surrendered in Transylvania, they did not care for peace when they mindlessly followed the French Empire into every conflict. The modern Soviet Union does not care for peace; as they march into Belarus. If it is okay with the Soviets to invade another nation, why is it instantaneous morally questionable when we do it? I will tell you! The Western dominance mindset is hypocracy at its very finest. The French have their own agenda, the French are willing to break their own moral codes to do so. The Europeans have colluded against us, our independent, nativist policies are pushing their influence out, we ought to continue! Viva la Puertollano!

Massive demonstrations then occurred outside of numerous European embassies. The anti-Europeam sentiment has now reached an all-time high, a recent poll suggesting 30% of Puertollanoans believe France has been a burden on societ as a whole.

NAF Weapons seen on front line!

Power plants, railways, and military areas deep in Espalsian Argentina have been bombed from the edge of space with cutting edge aircraft that many say resemble NAF aircraft. Anti tank rifles and cannons have also been sighted in use against Espalsian tanks, further supporting the argument that the North American Federation may be aiding Orostan. The EE-3 project has also made its debut, with 7 NAF made stealth planes bought prior to the war conducting operations with their similar, albeit slightly inferior Orostani made counterpart, the EE-3 multirole stealth aircraft. IFVs that also seem to be of NAF make were also sighted on the streets of Buenos Aires. The Orostani government has stated that "We regret conflicting with our Soviet comrades and Europeans interest, but it is the Puertollan nation's decision to make concerning the posssible creation of hostilities."

--UPDATE--

The Puertollan's rejection of the European offers has been met with a mostly positive result. The hipocracy of a Soviet Union suing for peace as they invade Belarus has been noted by the people of Orostan. A small protest of about a hundred people is taking place outside the Soviet embassy. It is tiny compared to the five hundred outside the French and German embassies right now. The advance into Argentina has continued, and any ship attempting to breach the blockade of Espalsian Argentina being ordered to turn away or be sunk. An Espalsian freighter attempting to get through the blockade was sunk today via missile.

(This is a military operation, and is not being publicized.)

Somewhere off the Coast of Morroco

A freighter flying the flag of France was anchored off the coast. The freighter was a large one, and seemed to be stocked with piles of crates. On the sides of the freighter were sizable strips of deck with no cargo, unassuming at first. When looked at closer however, the deck was revealed to be a door concealing a military grade aircraft catapult, optimized for medium sized propeller aircraft to use. On the side of the freighter facing away from the Moroccan coast, a deck door was open, and a heavily upgraded medium sized propeller aircraft was on a catapult, the engines on the sides made to take especially large payloads. Weapons of common types were being loaded into the plane, AK-47s, RPGs, and several weapons of French manufacture obtained through various means by the Orostani Intelligence Administration. Such was the situation aboard this ship, and the sister ship ten nautical miles away. In twenty minutes the planes would launch, and land in a remote area in Morocco under flight plans filed to Espalsian air traffic control there. They would fund and arm Morrocan nationalists of mostly the left leaning variety, and instigate a civil war in Morocco. Soon more planes would come from other ships. At the same time, an Orostani military transport aircraft was landing in Galica, with several kilograms of Semtex within it.

VERY IMPORTANT
The ladvanian embassy in Puertollano issued a statement to the people of Puertollano.
"We would like to plead for forgiveness on behalf of Europe and its warring ideologies. Allow us to temporarily close our embassy as we do not want to be involved nor do we wish to cause more division in this nation."
After this The ladvanian embassy issued it's last visas and closed, the representatives shortly after fled the nation.

Lenin expressed his feeling saying
"It is true that both parties are at wrong here, Europe continuously gets itself into everlasting wars, but Puertollano should be the example and enforce a peaceful solution to Europe's corrupt ways.

URGENT TODAY
Lenin has begun an offensive on the supposedly independent nation of transistria. Dassault rafales fly over tiraspol striking the military presence present in the city. As this happens, the 1st infantry division 2nd and 3rd brigade (5,000 troops) stationed in Odessa rush into Transistria from the south to quickly take the capital. Moldova claims transistria is theirs so a declaration of war on their part is expected.

SKIRMISH
Within hours of,marching in by foot, capturing small towns in southern Transistria, a skirmish erupted on route to Tiraspol. 2 dead 4 wounded ladvanian soldiers. As the transnistrian army focuses on the 5000 troops creeping from the south, the Ladvanian army sends out another 2 brigades from the 1st infantry division (4500 troops) this time from the north. Meanwhile 1000 reserve component troops are on the eastern border of transnistria in case of an attack.

Battle of Minsk
Incoming reports detail harsh fighting between Soviet and Belorussian forces in the outer perimeter of Minsk.
Image
Soviet soldiers and anti-government Belorussians, ride along the streets of Minsk to supply reinforcements.
Over the course of the last few hours Pro-Danik forces have formed their own perimeter along the outskirts of Minsk. Many of these soldiers have evacuated a number of buildings of their civilian populace, relocating them either westward or in facilities deeper within the city. A total of 37,000 are estimated to be defending the city against a total Soviet force of 56,000.

As buildings are evacuated reports of explosive weaponry ranging from RPGs, Mortars, and other such devices are utilized from the complexes to slow down the Soviet advance. Fighting is especially hard in the Eastern and Northern borders, leading the Soviet personal to call in a number of artillery strikes along with MLR strikes from BM-30 units in order to force an opening into the defender advance.
Casualties:
Soviet:
130 Killed
1,200 Wounded
40 MIA

Belorussian:
430 Killed
1,000 Wounded
N/A MIA

Classified
In order to quickly break apart any attempt at a deadlock within Minsk, Soviet General Gregor Popov has given directive for pro-soviet Belorussian partisans to wear the clothing of deceased Belorussian soldiers in order to infiltrate the enemy lines in Minsk. Once in their mission is to sabotage the ammo and equipment of the Belorussian forces if possible and/or eliminate the lower chain of command by seeking to eliminate enemy officers. This is done with the goal of hopefully creating confusion within ranks and sabotaging morale as to give the Soviet forces the necessary breakthrough into the inner city.

Armed Neutrality Declared, The Roman Pact Dissolved!

Image

After the rejection of the European demands, the recent Puertollano&Orostan-Espalsio war increased its potential to become worse. The NAF stated that it will honour the Seattle Pact via supplying the South American nations with equipment, nutrition and freedom of movement within NAF coastal territory.

Fregantes Empire has been a signatory of the Roman Pact, a military pact between some of the Mediterranean nations. Therefore, Fregantes Empire was obliged to enter the war on the Espalsio. Not anymore, as the Senate passed the bill which effectively dissolved the Roman Pact. No reason was cited.

After three hours, armed neutrality was declared. All Fregantese assets were called back from South America and Iberia. The Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Tourism Ministry started publishing adds which discourage trips to the war zones. The Fregantese Navy was ordered to guard the coasts and the important trade routes and ports.

Prime Minister Castillo was given the liberty to leave the country and the DEU conference without being subjected to any obstacles.

An official condamnation was also issued against every nation on the planet which have been conducting military operations.
"Long live the legacy of the Roman Empire!"

Ramadan Begins. Zackaroth expecting heavy flow this year as repairs to Great Mosque finish
The month of Ramadan has begun in Zackaroth and for Muslims across the world. The country is expecting a bigger then average flow of visitors to the country, especially Mecca, to observe the holiday and offer respects to the dead and injured from the Orostan attack late last year. To government officials, this will be a test run for the upcoming Haji, or pilgrimage, to Mecca, in Zackaroth experiences an even greater volume of visitors. As such, Zackaroth has relaxed travel permissions on Persian Muslims who wish to enter the country to visit family or observe the holiday. Orostani Muslims have also had travel permissions relaxed but non-Muslim Orostani citizens are still not allowed to enter the country.

Both candidates, Opposition Party candidate Imaad al-Reza and High Leader Shepard Abdullah, have pledged to suspend their public campaigns for the rest of the month in respect to the holiday. The vote to elect them will come on the first Tuesday after Ramadan.

United Islamic Coalition Leadership Challenge: Delshad Charged with Incite to Violence

Abdollah Delshad, candidate for the leadership of the UIC, was charged with incite to violence. He said at a campaign rally that "the secular dictatorship of Zakaroth must fall. In this year's Hajj, it must not be just pilgrims going to Mecca, it must be militants who will overthrow the tyranny and raise the flag of God and Persia upon the holy city!" The Tehran Court charged him with Incite to Violence, a charged he denied. He also accused the courts of "being a servant of Akbar and his communist regime." Dolshad continues to rise in the polls, despite being a distant third.

Meeting with Rumelioglu in Ottawa!

Recently, Rumelioglu and the North American Federation agreed to begin a meeting in Ottawa, Hyper Democratic Union of Canada in order to improve diplomatic relations overall. A few members of the Neutralist Party that disagreed to the idea of beginning a diplomatic meeting stated,
"I don't see any reason for us to entangle ourselves with other nations, even diplomatically. We already know where this will lead. First we'll get buddy-buddy with another country, then the next minute we'll have a full blown alliance with them, then they'll get entangled in a war that we'll be obligated to help them in, only to gain nothing out of it."

However, other members of the Neutralist Party thinks otherwise,
"Diplomatic relations don't always lead to military alliances. This isn't the early 20th century."

The meeting is said to start reasonably soon.

Stones is declared Head of the Hyper Democratic Party!

Lucas Stones, the rising star in the political arena, has recently been declared the Head of the Hyper Democratic Party. The reason being is his huge influence on the Hyper Democratic Party members in changing the very definition of Hyper Democracy. Here's a quote from him that the reforming Hyper Democratic Party likes to use,
"The problem with labeling ourselves to be a specific side of the political spectrum, is that then we're leaving people off with negative views on us because they view things differently, and normally for good reason. We should disregard just center-right politics, and strive to just aim for whatever works. I don't care if people want to label us as Centrists, I don't care if people want to label us as Conservatives, I don't care if people want to label us as Liberals. The fact of the matter is that they all have their up's and down's, and so it would be best if we just went with whatever works per situation."

Stones has seen a little bit more than 79% of the entire Hyper Democratic Party in support of him, making him the most popular figure in the Hyper Democratic Party to have ever lived. A majority of those members are the more influential members themselves, and that number is expected to only grow, as he meets little opposition from those who don't support him. This could mean that Hyper Democracy could change forever.

Bismarck Doctrine introduced!

Today the GU and French governments have come out with the 'Bismarck Doctrine' aimed at bringing peace to Europe. While the Doctrine has many terms the main outline includes

-Prohibiting military annexation
And
-encouraging all transfer of land to be done peacefully and diplomatically

However we will let you know the 'unofficial official story' told by Adam Shoemaker on the popular show 'TedTalk'

"...After this weeks almost overlooked annexations by the Soviet Union and Ladvania, many people have asked me 'why haven't you done anything about them? You stood up for Romania. Why not Belarus or Moldova?' To which I responded with 'well they are being annexed by my allies. Allies we need to have or we could go into recession or even war.' However it got me thinking. If we could announce a doctrine that prohibits military annexations. Our allies wouldn't annex territory in fear of going to war with us. After all however much we rely on them. They rely equally on us.

So I drafted this doctrine where it put the military of the GU in the spotlight to stop any future military annexations. However I didn't think it was a great idea to prohibit the expansion of land, after all when Benelux joined us we mutually benefited. So then I edited the doctrine that allowed all diplomatic transitions of territory.

After wards I took this to our french neighbor and essentially said 'hey, wouldn't this idea be cool?' In which they replied 'yeah, looks great. However would you like our help?'
After that i was like 'heck yeah!'
So then I went over to the president of Benelux to ask the same thing. I got basically the same answer. Except for the 'would you like my help' part. Because we are one country. That's kinda weird. So then me and the president begun brainstorming for names and soon enough we thought we would name it after the former German leader Bismarck. After all he mostly opposed war.

Unless that war was with France to unite the Germans. *looks down and laughs*

So after that me, the president of France and president of Benelux got together and drafted the official doctrine. Hopefully to bring peace and prosperity to Europe. Thank you, and have a great day."

"Stalinium" Armor being tested

An extremely heavy and durable composite armor is being tested at a testing range near Cuiaba. The new armor consists of the following, in order:
8mm steel
2mm un-vulcanised rubber
5mm gravel
2mm un-vulcanised rubber
8mm steel

A High explosive anti tank shell fired at this armor will penetrate the steel, and a jet of molten metal is sent into the armor, which goes through the rubber and is dispersed through the gravel. This armor has been nicknamed "Stalinium" by some soldiers, mostly as a meme. The armor originally was used in the Yugoslav wars without the rubber, and its effectiveness was noted by Orostani Intelligence services.

NEWLY HOISTED FLAG
After a few days of fighting and conquering north and southern towns of transnistria Ladvania arrived at Tiraspool and hoisted its flag on all government buildings. The so called independent nation is Ladvania's now. Quickly after roughly 10000 troops diminished the small army, Lenin sent 20,000 more troops to hold Tiraspool of an expected Moldovan attack. Transnistria is being secured and few remaining soldiers continue taking the fight to the ladvanians through guerrilla warfare in rural parts.
So far a total of 200 ladvanians troops have died, most of them being in the invasion of Tiraspool. The Western Transnistrian border is being secured with tanks and 2000 additional troops.

RETREAT FROM TIRASPOL
The following is a recollection of the combat experiences of L.Cpl Lukas Medyedev, aged 22, fighting for the Transnistrian Territorial Defence Force, 2nd. Battalion, D Company, 3rd. Squad.
Image
The D. Coy 3rd. Squad, seen in front of their natural habitat, the ruins Vvp Club Hotel in Tiraspol. Medyedev is seen on the bottom-right.
Today, Tiraspol officially fell. Lieutenant. Slakolov has stated that we have to begun to move out of the city to link up with the rest of D-Coy in Parkany, a good fourty miles West of the city, says we'll be getting help from the Moldovans. I think it's a load of horse-sh*t, we've got plenty of ammunition and provisions, and with the riots it's unlikely the Ladvanians will have a proper hold of the city for a couple of days. But that's beyond the point, what Slak says, goes.
As it stands, we've been pushed out of the centre of town, the Ladvanians had too many guns, aerial support and armour, and though we did manage to inflict some wounds as they pushed in, we just didn't have the means to repel their air-power, and it tore us a new one. The squad is in oddly high moods though, they find the idea of a huge 'National struggle' for independence oddly bemusing, the Lieutenant has promised a bottle of scotch to the man who 'fetches the most Lvivean scalps'. I'm sure by that he means confirmed kills, though I wouldn't put it past him if he was being serious.
Things almost went South when from the North-Eastern approach the hotel Private. Stanislav spotted a contingent of Ladvanians alongside a tank. He indicated they hadn't seen us. Slak decided to take the chance to test the squad's fireworks. As the thing, I think it's called an AMX, came within about two-hundred metres of the hotel, Slak got Sergeant. Federov to fire the Spigot at the thing. The look on the Lieutenant's face says he saws them cutting some pretty big logs as that thing flew at them.
That tank POPPED, the turret must have flown about three hundred feet in the air! The infantry beside it scattered to the flanks or tried to attend those unfortunate enough to get hit by the spall. We didn't take any chances and got packed up as quickly as possible. We made sure to hold on to that damn Spigot. The bastards must have been shooting at us as we drove off because if it weren't for that dumb bastard Stanislav having his flak-jacket on backwards he'd he a dead man. I'm certain, absolutely positive that this is what they mean by the term 'Dumb luck'.

We made sure to avoid the main roads as we left the city. Wouldn't want to be picked up by any Ladvanian Air-force types. As we left the city 4th. Squad decided to take a different rout, so that there was a greater chance that one of us made it. Personally I think we'd have done well keeping their firepower with us, but the Lieutenant made no objections, and I've trusted him so far. Hopefully these Moldovans pay off.

BIG COMPANIES, BIG REGULATIONS
After roughly 7 months in the congressional house floor, a bill so controversial has finally made its way to be a federal law. This would mark the future of what was a capitalist country. Congressmen on the Left side of the spectrum managed to pass a law stopping major companies to come inure making as much as they are. Although a large amount of conservatives in the country believe in a freer market, many more centered or leftist citizens see it as an opportunity to have smallermore local businesses thrive. The law required major companies sucking up all the money to be taxed way more than before and Ladvanian based businesses were required for follow stricter regulations involving products and personnel. The liberal party is on a rise while socialist ideology is born within the ranks of many politicians.

Planes Seized
A move by foreign forces has seen planes with military supplies being seized by the British government in Morocco. An investigation in the source country is underway with bullet casings and weapon serial numbers being traced to the South American region. More to come!

Britain Supports France
Britain has supported France in their prevention of conflict in South America, and pleas with Puertollano to avoid conflict. India has stated they will not be contributing to the conflict as it is "not in [India's] interest", however will get involved "if the conflict becomes a major problem for our Empire".

Corporation tax interests Ladvanian companies
A number of Ladvanian large companies have left the European nation for the British Empire over their increased taxation and drain on profits. A British finance minister has remarked that "inducing socialistic economic processes are only successful over vast amounts of time, and can not be executed in mere minutes".

Means of Production Seized!

The Orostani assembly has voted to democratize the work place, and put the means of production directly into the hands of the workers. A trial going on at a state owned manufacturing company has shown great success, with products increasing in quality and amount. The bill passed through the assembly along party lines, with Communist MPs voting for it, and Socialist MPs mostly opposing it. Foreign private companies will be exempt from these new rules, but will need to allow some measure of workplace democratization. One corporation attempted to resist the implementation of this new bill with armed force, but surrendered once several APCs arrived in their building's parking lot. Now however Orostan is running into a new problem. However, a side effect of the industrialization of Orostan over the last 20 years is now beginning to appear. The population of Orostan has begun to grow at such a rate that is unexpected by even the Census Bureau of Orostan. Such population growth has required the construction of "Commie Blocks", large apartment complexes of moderate quality to house new people entering the work force. Former slums, which have since been renovated into okay quality homes are being demolished, and their residents taking up homes in newly completed "Commie Blocks", such as the ones made of already fabricated building components which have been left over from other building projects. We can be sure that the people of the renovated favelas enjoy their better quality homes closer too their workplaces in many cases.
“It is difficult for me to imagine what “personal liberty” is enjoyed by an unemployed hungry person. True freedom can only be where there is no exploitation and oppression of one person by another; where there is not unemployment, and where a person is not living in fear of losing his job, his home and his bread. Only in such a society personal and any other freedom can exist for real and not on paper.” -J. V. STALIN

Saeed Jalili cruised to an easy leadership victory today. After the disqualification of Delshad and his far-right campaign, most of Delshad's voters who did not abstain turned to Jalili and his continued leadership. Exit Polls projected by the Persian News Network gave Jalili 50% of the vote. Finalized results gave him 47%. While not a majority, a firm plurality, and he has staved off the leadership challenge of Arish Faridoon. Jalili said to supporters that he would promise "electoral success and strong leadership."

Public Housing Bill Cruises Through Parliament

Prime Minister Davud Akbar championed Public Housing Bill for the homeless and those in very low-income and crime filled neighborhoods cruised through Parliament easily today. The SDU Supermajority made it easy to pass the bill, every SDU MP voting for the bill. The bill passed, and the SDU celebrated this. But the Opposition's vote was the most interesting, the UIC voted against this. Citing taxpayer burden and weakening of cities. The People's Party Leader Dana 'Abbas declared that his party would oppose the bill, further taking the party to the secular right. Centrists members of the party were furious and 9 People's Party MPs voted for the bill. The Independent MPs voted against excepting 3, who voted for. In a noticeable show of dissent, when Parliament adjourned the 9 People's Party MPs and the 3 Independent MPs who voted for exited alone, the People's Party MPs not following their leader out. People's Party Leader Dana 'Abbas urged unity in the party saying, "this bill is not going to work, not only will it create a dreadful tax burdens, but would also weaken such communities by stopping development and business investment. The SDU plan of getting the government involved with everything never will work and never has worked. I understand the dissent in the Party, but their is far more that unites us then divides us. I hope to see you all at the Party Ramadan Dinner tomorrow night. And the day after, working for legislation that benefits all Persians." People's Party Iraqi MP Khaliq Harun was far less conciliatory. "My constituents in Diyala need this housing to have any housing at all. This decision by our Party Leader is a betrayal of our cole values and certainly brings up questions about his leadership."
