Adrijan Sentenced To Death Row

Adrijan Kasun, age 42 was recently sentenced to the death row. He plead guilty and was convicted to the murder of thee Italians living in Turin. Adrijan, a self proclaimed Serbian nationalist and supporter of Pan-Slavism, was recently commended by the SRB, an organization dubbed a terrorist group by many including the Republic of Italy.

Despite the fact that Adrijan was sentenced to be executed, under Italian law it's still possible that he might get appeal. Adrijan's lawyers, public defenders appointed by the government have said that Adrijan has mental issues, and thus sentence should be reduced to that of manslaughter, with mandatory visits to a physiatrist. Public opinion is against Adrijan getting his sentence reduced. A recent poll conducted by the Milan Daily Newspaper shows that 94% of Italian citizens support a death sentence to Adrijan, 4% support life imprisonment, and 2% support manslaughter charges. There's also a small group that support the liberation of Adrijan, although the support is so miniscule that it wouldn't provide any real influence. The poll was answered by about 270,00 people in both Metropolitan Italy and Italian North Africa, so it can be said that the poll represents the will of most Italian citizens.

RUMORS OF ESPIONAGE
Recent articles in the Lviv Post have featured reports of The Federal agency known as the Ladvanian Intelligence Corps or LIC to be conducting acts of espionage on it's Slavic citizens suspected to have correlations with their home state of the SSS. This Theory produced by the Lviv Post has sprung up after Lenin's failure of deporting all Slavic citizens and is secretly using the LIC to conduct top secret operations on it's citizens. This claim has no evidence to back it up but when Lenin was asked he refused to comment. This has sparked a major conspiracy theory in all of Ladvania and some have labeled Lenin as a secret Communist.
If such accusations were true Lenin could be impeached, but congress is not convinced yet due to lack of evidence and the rise of fake news in the internet.

The LIC has ordered the 100 troops of the 57th Shturmovyk division to end their use of combat gear and switch to civilian based gear in order to aid them in the intelligence gathering against the SRB and Hornik's men. Today the first loan from the European standard bank was made by the German government, and will be repaid with a fair interest rate. Although the details of the loan were not released the ending of isolation has been a relief to German Generals as growing threats have been made in Indochina and Eastern Europe.

WAR - BETRAYAL IN THE FAR EAST

The Parliament of the Sixth French Republic has voted to declare war against Thailand, Burma, and the Philippines following the surprise attack against the French naval and air base at Cam Ranh Bay in Vietnam. Several hundred French, Vietnamese, and Unionian personnel have been killed in the attack which targeted Cam Ranh due to it's hosting of the French Pacific Fleet and presence of a visiting HDUHA Fleet. Although it will take some time for the French losses to be tallied in full, it is known that the Super Carrier Napoleon has suffered damaged, multiple frigates and destroyers of the Pacific Fleet were hit, two French destroyers have been sunk, and an oil ship is ablaze. The air base was also hit, however aside from damage to the runway and one communications tower being disabled remains operational. The entire Parliament of the Republic met in Paris as soon as the news reached Metropolitan France, and have voted in favor of declaring war. Crowds rallied outside of both the Parliament building and the Hexagon in Paris, expressing their fury at this act of aggression and in support of the Armed Forces of the Republic.

In Saigon, Hanoi, and other large cities in Vietnam there was also anger in the streets but also a flood of aid being sent to Cam Ranh. ARVN reserve divisions are being called up across the country for deployment to Cambodia and Laos, where the KAF and LAF are expected to struggle against the Thai military should they invade the French Indochinese Federation in earnest. The French and Algerian armies are also moving reinforcements to Indochina, however it will take time for them to arrive and organize their deployment. The Air Force and Navy are also expected to strengthen their presence in Asia very soon to ensure that the Indochinese Federation is not caught unprepared again.

The People's Army has begun to set up supply routes to Indochina as troop transports, ships and planes, head to the French colony. Prime Minister Akbar declared, "Barbarism and oppression will not be tolerated in Asia, we will stand by our esteemed ally in this time of trial!" Persian citizens took to the streets today in patriotic mood, waving flags and shouting slogans like "On to Bangkok!" or "See you in Manila!" Italian Expeditionary Force In Asia Sent To French Indochina

The Italian government today announced that the Italian Expeditionary Force in Asia, or IEFA has arrived in its destination, somewhere in French Indochina to support the French in their struggle against Thailand and its allies the Philippines and Communist insurgents. Not much information has been released about IEFA from the Italian government, and IEFA is currently clouded in secrecy.

Castillo questions legitimacy of new Asian conflict!

While on a political television show, President Nicolo Castillo got on a tangent regarding the new war in East Asia, critizing the way the Western powers have handled the issue:

As you must all be aware, the French Parliament recently, again, voted to declare war. I am uncertain to whether France has had an unlucky streak of fighting needless, unending conflicts, however I'm sure the French military complex is thriving; that's all that matters really. What puzzles me most though, is that there is no attempted process of peace-making? Hasn't the region of Indochina had enough war in these past years? Isn't there a much more productive method of negotiations instead of pointing a gun at another's head? As the war is currently raging on and there obviously being no chance for Thailand, the Phillipines or the communist soldiers to defeat the expansive forces of NMF and NAF. Not to mention Italy becoming involved, and even Persia, who has absolutely no reason to be in the conflict at all (although to be fair, neither is any of them). This reminds me of Liberia, except this war is three times larger- you look at how that war eventuated.

What I am asking for is that peace be put first, and that hopefully some of those nations retract their weapons from Asia.

Come to Phnom Penh, and see for yourself how desperately food is still needed after the exploitation policies of the Khmer Rouge, and see the atrocities committed by the old regime. Come to Vientiane, and see for yourself the distrust and fear still on the faces of its citizens. Come to Saigon, and ask the elders what it was like living in fear of imminent Communist invasion for over 50 years. Then go to Western Cambodia and Western Laos, and see how justified that fear truly is. Because it is in those jungles that you will realize how thin ARVN is stretched by Khmer Rouge holdouts and Thai border attacks, supported only by inexperienced KAF and LAF irregulars. This is not a geopolitical game, and the fate of millions in Indochina is in the balance. You think that victory is inevitable, that France and NAF are unbeatable, but we are not. We never have been. And so I say, President Castillo, come to Dien Bien Phu and see for yourself the site of the greatest humiliation in all of French military history. It happened in Indochina, when an army of peasants defeated a Super Power. If we do not act as one force against the tyranny of our enemies, all of the progress made in the last two years will have been lost, and Indochina will fall under the bamboo curtain once more. Liberia was a campaign against the spread of fascism, Indochina is a campaign of survival.

President Leonard has thanked Persia, Italy, and SNL for their support following the bombing of Cam Ranh, and has proposed a meeting in Saigon of all military leaders involved in the Allied war effort.

Mediterranean partnership continues to meet construction goals

Italy, Iberia, and France have over the last few weeks agreed to major economic partnerships which will greatly increase trade and transportation around the Western Mediterranean Sea. The Iberian-Morocco tunnel is now being funded by companies from all three nations, while other rail and road networks are being planned to connect Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Iberia, Metropolitan France, and the Italian Peninsula. Tourism operators in France are eagerly planning extensions to their hotels in order to accommodate predicted demand.

The only end result in this war is a prolonged conflict that will mirror the Second Indochina War in length, and the Pacific War in brutality. Prime Minister Shintaro Ishihara's statement seemed soft-spoken, but his choice words were only an illusion. Japan is the rightful leader of the Asia-Pacific region, trade lanes are protected by IJN warships, the IJA and IJAS perform humanitarian missions when needed, and Japan is the economic benefactor of the many East Asian nations. French and American power in the region is substantial, but lacks when compared to Japan's power in the region. It'd be extremely foolish for foreign powers to ignore the Japanese call for peace.

Many in the Imperial Government have alluded to a possible policy change - one where Japan becomes even more assertive. Even the Prime Minister himself has expressed interest in a more assertive policy charge. What this means still remains unclear, but political analysts believe the new Asia-Pacific war will be the perfect justification for the Prime Minister to enact radical policy change. Until the Imperial Government makes an official announcement, only speculation will suffice. But the justifications are there and it would be surprising if the Ishihara government doesn't pounce on this opportunity.

When troop transport, along with 1 other submarine, were sailing to Bosaso, they were confronted by Zackarothian Naval Ships in the Mandeb Strait. The vessels declined the entry of the Transport Ships into Somalia, stating the Akksum Act.

19 Hours later, they are still anchored in front of these Zackaroth vessels, waiting for clearance.

Opposition to Stefan Lofven's Silence Growing in Scandinavia

Prime Minister Stefan Lofven of the Kalmar Union has been criticized by several Scandinavians from all sides of the aisle; however, his recent silence on Western imperialism has drawn ire from his own coalition. The Sager House has not released an official statement on France's new war, and when caught by a reporter, he blatantly ignored questions thrown at him pertaining to it.

Several leftist members of the Riksdag have suggested replacing Lofven as the leader of the Social Democratic Party unless he makes a statement on the matter and some, most notably the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Björn Söder, are considering calling for a vote on a new Prime Minister, hoping to rally the full support of the Social Democrat, Green, and Liberal parties to overthrow Lofven. Bickering within the majority coalition over foreign policy could provide a window for the united Alliance, a centre-right coalition, to gain more power, including potentially the seat of Prime Minister itself.

Many theorize that the reason the Lofven Administration has gotten silent on imperialism is due to the deal with France on Greenland; however, no one can know for certain the inner workings of the Sager House.

Midway, Wake, Guam and Atoll joins the NAF! (OOC: Permission to do this was granted by New Metropolitan France)
Not long ago, The NAF offered all former US Pacific Territories to rejoin them. Not long later, four of these former territories had voted and decided they would joined the North American Federation, those being Midway, Wake, Guam, and the Johnson Atoll islands. The NAF has proceeded to guarantee that they would protect the other former US Pacific Territories from any nation that would dare to invade them.

NAF declares Liberia as its Protectorate!
After ruthless fighting in Liberia, and their eventual defeat, the North American Federation has declared Liberia to be an official protectorate of Liberia, and has been fast at work in repairing the damages done there. A few statements were made about the declaration of Liberia as becoming a North American Protectorate. A statement was made by a North American politician, who stated,

"Us making Liberia a Protectorate is not for an act of Imperialism, or us just wanting their land or anything like that. It's simply to protect Liberia from instability and any possible foreign threat, and help repair them in their time of need."

The North American Federation has also said to have been helping Liberia modernize and are actively providing Liberia with humanitarian aid, and in turn keeping a small fleet and a force of 1,132 soldiers there to help restore law and order while things are calming down, and promise to reduce that number as the Liberians recreate their own military and establish their own police force. The North Americans are also guaranteeing the Liberians democratic and legitimate elections on who they want as their new leadership. Though, the North Americans have given them a specific government structure to be filled in to make things a lot simpler for the Liberians. The form of government is the 'Unionia System', which was used by the Hyper Democratic Union of Canada during their time being independent.

Austria to be given refrenda

As treaties start to come Into effect from the end of "The Great European War" one of the biggest surprises is set to happen over the next few days. Austria is to be given a refrenda to join the Germanic Union. However this is not the first refrenda given in the past year. Earlier Luxembourg, The Netherlands and Belgium joined the Second Prussian empire, only to have Kaiser Wilhelm step down from power and take a ceremonial role in the Germanic Union.

However this move has also come with its critics as a little over 500k people took to the streets through Hamburg, Berlin and Munich in protest either claiming that this is similar to the treaty of Versailles or that the Austrians where the ones invading the GU in the first place (however the ladder is only popular in Munich)

Meanwhile no comment has been made by any GU government official.

Orostan Joins Philippine War

Several Orostani ships and submarines arrived near the Philippine Islands today, and the Orostani assembly voted by 2 votes to assist France in the invasion of the Philippines. A tank battalion and two infantry battalions are being prepared for deployment. Orostan's single aircraft carrier will also be participating in the operation carrying EE-2 and EE-1 aircraft. War against theallies of the Philippines has not been declared yet. In other news, several arms companies both state and privately owned have expressed interest in exporting to African nations.
