The French Armed Forces today allocated the last of it's budget as part of preparations for a new era of operations in 2017. Defense Minister Jacques Chevalier gave the announcement:
2015 was a year in which the Fifth Republic died, the military modernized, and the Sixth Republic became a Great Power once more with Super Power ambitions. 2016 France was unquestionably a Super Power, with a military aimed at attaining that status. 2017 will be a year in which the Republic must maintain this status, or decline. These new additions to the budget reflect this.

Greek Withdrawal Operation Ends
The last French Army regulars which were occupying the Peloponnese Peninsula have returned to Metropolitan France as heroes, with a large parade being held in Toulon to celebrate their victory over the previous Greek government alongside close allies Turkey, Prussia and the NAF, and the bright prospect of a stable Balkan region once more. All French Naval and Air Force personnel which had been in the campaign had already redeployed to the Black Sea earlier this year, meaning France no longer has any military force within the borders of the Fregantes Empire.
French Exodus from Greenland?
The French Republic has officially announced that the bulk of it's administrators in Greenland may be on the verge of leaving the territory, with all French government officials residing there excluding a new embassy staff boarding Airbus planes back to Metropolitan France. The French Armed Forces have also been seen reinforcing their various facilities in Greenland, including Air Bases, Army Barracks, and Naval Dockyards.
