Anderson Garcia has promised a completely new economic plan, and has pushed the Socialist party farther left in his campaign. Anderson Garcia has promised to increase funding to healthcare by taking away money from welfare programs that are over funded, such as the Amazon Education Program, which has an extremely large surplus of funds because most schools in the Amazon have already been constructed. Police programs to regulate the now nonexistent Favelas in cities like Rio are also being cut, because they are simply not needed anymore. A large bomb exploded in the capital of the State of Cambodia today, killing seven people including two visiting ARVN Officers, a French Army major, and their security detail. The attack, believed to have been carried out by Khmer Rouge supporters, has been speculated to be the first action in a fresh campaign against the new Cambodian government following an end to their cross-border raids from Laos due to the Franco-Khmer War. Submarine missing in the Atlantic

The French Armed Forces today announced that submarine Vengeur has failed to report in as ordered for 48 hours. As a result, France has begun a major search effort in the North Atlantic in an attempt to locate the missing submarine. The rest of the North Atlantic Fleet is to lead the search efforts, with the Super Carrier Marianne and two Mistral-class helicopter carriers all deploying ASW helicopters to try and find some trace of the submarine, while the other five submarines in the fleet are to search the last known site the vessel was known to have been located.

Submarine found!

A Puertollanoan flight aircraft, deployed from Super Carrier Reino Latino today was ecstatic when the French submarine deemed missing was found. Helicopters recused the crew from the submarine as it floated above water, by afternoon all 111 crewman from the submarine has been rescued and brought aboard Reino Latino. They were feed and taken care of in the mean time as Puertollano begins investigating the issue with the submarine, while also interviewing the sailors. Puertollano has now handed over the crew and the submarine to French authorities, however the nuclear weapon attached to it was taken. The Government has announced that it has confiscated the weapon, but there is yet to be a decision made.

This new deal, the Prussian-Austrian deal is ridiculous. This is a blatant attempt at modern imperialism with both Prussia and Calindelo at blame. You cannot split up Austria without having major issues and side affects, the treaty has obviously been crafted so Calindelo can become closer with Prussia. So why must the Austrians' face those consequences? If Prussia were to accept this treaty, our diplomatic ties will begin to deteriorate. The region of Germany, out of all places, should understand what I say now: splitting up a culturally soveign nation will never end nicely.

French Ambassador expresses confusion

The French Ambassador to Puertollano today thanked the great nation for it's efforts to locate the missing French submarine Vengeur, no doubt saving the lives of it's crew. The Ambassador declared that "The French people will not forget this good deed." Despite this however, the ambassador was also quoted as having asked the Puertollano government why the M45 SLBM and it's warheads have not been returned along with the Vengeur and it's crew. Already, the French Armed Forces have moved to calm reporters who have demanded to know what happened to the French Nuclear Launch codes and Missile keys on board the Vengeur.

The Captain of the Vengeur is a hero to the Republic. Not only did he act quickly to save the submarine and it's crew from disaster until help could arrive, but he also destroyed the electronic key codes for the fleet's nuclear launch commands, and broke his missile key. New codes are being issued to the rest of the submarine forces in the French Navy as a precaution however.

Meanwhile, preliminary investigation into the damaged submarine, which is being towed to Toulon under escort by some of the North Atlantic Fleet, has indicated that a crippling reactor failure was the cause of the major power outage which paralyzed the ship. The vessel's captain and engineering officers have been hailed as heroes for preventing a catastrophic accident from occurring. France has scheduled a full review of the submarine class to occur in December.

The Puertollanoan government has officially replied to the French confusion over the warhead that was not returned alongside the crew and submarine. British Prime Minister Praises French
The Prime Minister of the British Isles released a statement on the current warhead problem. He has said that the French are "...incredibly calm and well-planned..." regarding how British forces "...would be ordered to attack immediately, as this would be seen as an act of war."

Two month ago the Central Attorney of the United Republics received a proposition from the Citizens of Cascadia and Northern Idaho. The proposition called for the independence of both Cascadia and Northern Idaho. What was sent along side the proposition was the required payment and signatures of 500k. Well the proposition received over 2 million signatures, which is more than what is required.
Thus the Government of the United Republics set up a referendum for the people to vote on. The proposition had a few questions and answers, as follows:

1.) Should Cascadia and Northern Idaho become independent from the URL?
Yes: 90% No: 10%
2.) Should Cascadia and Northern Idaho merge?
Yes: 85% No 15%
3.) Should the newly independent nation(s) remain part of the North American Federation?
Yes: 99% No: 1%

Thus this referendum passed and was moved onto the Grand Congress of the North American Federation. Congress approved of the referendum and granted Cascadia independence and NAF membership.
British Colombia declared it's intent of seceding from the HDU to join Canada, which was approved by the HDU government as well.

That isn't the only Losconian territory to leave. The Southern Federation sent something similar and had a similar referendum that passed. Is the days of the United Republics numbered? Many analyists predict that the Right leaning Michigan Republic may secede, but that is still being debated.

The NAF has two new members now, and that number may continue to grow.

Some may ask: "But why is this happening?" Well the situation is complicated. Most of Cascadia leans towards libertarian leftism, how the Losconian homeland leans towards centre-left Social Democracys. However the Government of the United Republics grew increasingly authoritarian, with many new laws restricting personal freedoms in the name of safety and security. Thus after months of Cascadians had enough, and declared independence. The Southern Federation is right leaning and did not agree to many policies of the UR government. From Gay marriage, acceptance of Polygamy, more and more regulations on industry, ETC. The Southern Federation was promised equal representation that they never got. Thus they also left.

The Government of the NAF has been becoming increasingly more central and established. The two new members will be given equal say in the NAF government and proper representation.
