Denunciation of recent events in the Asia-Pacific
The French Confederation hereby issues a denunciation of the international community's response to recent events in the Asia-Pacific region. Australian aid projects have came under attack in Bougainville, in doing so both jeopardizing the safety of foreigners and locals in addition to preventing potential development funds from being put to best use. The Japan-Bengal conflict has thrice been condemned in the CSN, and yet the Directorate's delegation has refused to even speak a word to the Council. We are especially concerned at the precedent these events have set, as international law, norms and values begin to be so blatantly violated without explanation or concern. If internationally-recognized territorial waters and EEZs are no longer being respected, the maritime sovereignty upon which many nations depend are thus similarly null and void. Trade ships, ports, and trade supporting infrastructure are being attacked, and the shipping lanes of the Dragon/South China Sea may soon be forced to close due to fears of piracy resurgence. The French Republic condemns the government of the Philippines, which we regard as an heir apparent to the great Marcos Empire, for suppressing democracy which has directly led to the rise of militant extremist factions which could pose a threat to the entire region.
Over the last six months, it has become clear that international law, norms and values are dying in the Far East. As such, we call for a re-engagement of the great North American power that is Pacifica in this strategic theater, to work alongside ourselves and other like-minded nations such as Australia, to restore peace, justice and security to region.
