Operation Miracle announced by President

President Castillo announced Operation Miracle yesterday, officially inaugurating a massive South American wide initiative to reduce poverty through medical help. The Bolivarian Republic will be exporting thousands of doctors across South America in order to reach rural and/or indigenous communities most in need. Each country will be targeted considering the level of poverty and lack of medical resources. These Puertollanoan-sponsored medical professionals will be responsible for large vaccination programs and universal healthcare for those in need. This comes after a large spike in those applying to be medical professionals in Puertollano, and lack of open positions to fulfil the pool of medical students. The countries to be under the main spotlight of Operation Miracle are Suriname, Guyana and many nations throughout the Caribbean. There have been specific orders from the President for no aid, in any form, to be given to the Magellan Republic or European colonies on the South American continent.

Classified: although part of the doctors purposes are to help the disadvantaged through medical support, a secondary goal of this medical program is to promote the tenants of anti-imperialism and socialism. Through their efforts in local communities, they will attempt to sign people up for socialist groups, spread socialist magazines and promote the life inside the Bolivarian Republic of Puertollano. They will also particularly stoke the flames against imperialism and nations that are servants to imperialism (Germany, Magella and so-forth).

Operation Projecting Justice

Operation Projecting Justice- Italian Polizia di Stato (State Police) begin operations in Poland to bring an end to organised crime

Today the Italian Polizia di Stato arrived in Warsaw to begin Operation Projecting Justice, fighting Polish organised crime which virtually runs the country, leaving local police forces unable to arrest criminals due to corruption in the country's government and courts. Any arrested individuals will be discreetly transported to Italy in vans to be given an unbiased trial.

The Italian police are the worlds most experienced and effective force agaisnt organised crime, after spending decades cracking down on the mafia and the corruption it created until it was finally eradicated. Due to the longevity of the task of crushing organised crime the Italian officers have been given their own properties inside gated complexes guarded 24/7 to ensure their safety, as they will become top targets of organised crime and possibly corrupt Polish police and officials.

Cybernetic Operations Command is also setting up an operations centre in Warsaw to conduct mass internet and telecommunications surveillance sweeps of neighbourhoods and towns believed to be home to gangs.

A fleet of police helicopters and armoured vehicles has also been brought in for use by the police forces. The team of officers working on Operation Projecting Justice range from NOCS swat teams to forensic scientists and veteran mafia-hunting detectives. The operation also plans to incorporate psychological warfare against the organised crime groups by distributing images of gang leaders and henchmen across the internet, global television services and on thousands of leaflets and billboards that will be distributed across Poland. Organised police kidnappings of gang members and their families from their homes while they sleep will also be used as part of the psychological warfare against the organised crime (the kidnapped gang members will not be intentionally harmed and will be trated humanely)

A government forms- Forza Italia and Partito Democratico form government after long negotiations, Giuseppe Conte chosen as President

Finally, after nearly a month of tough negotiations, a government has successfully been formed after Forza Italia and Partito Democratico, the two largest parties, managed to reach an agreement between each other and have selected politician Giuseppe Conte as President of the Republic. Meanwhile, the leaders of Forza Italia and Partito Democratico, Mariastella Gelmini and Borut Pahor, have been appointed as Minister of Defence and Minister of Foreign Affairs respectively.

Many of the campaign promises made by each party will not be fully achievable due to differences between the two parties, however in several areas of the upcoming 2021-2022 budget the parties have agreed to compromises which will allow both parties to at least partially fulfil their campaign promises. A major bonus for Partito Democratico in the negotiations is that Forza Italia agreed to go along with Partito Democratico's plan to completely tear up Forza Italia's new international aid budget call the 'Pro Bono Publico' budget which saw the decimation of the traditional Aiditalia and its values of donation without reward. The promise for the revival of the much-loved Aiditalia is partially responsible for Partito Democratico's strong performance and Forza Italia's decline.

In his first Presidential address, President Conte outlined the coalition governments plan for major investment in infrastructure as part of Forza Italia's 'Advance Italia!' campaign, as well as the plan for the new Aiditalia. Unsurprisingly, the president also praised the military and the thousands of jobs that defence companies support throughout the country and confirmed that budget increases in the military will take place along with increases in healthcare spending, social welfare spending and money for local authorities, however, the president confirmed that the budget increases will not be as high as Partito Democratico wanted as part of the negotiations for a coalition government.

Many economists are forecasting that a major rise in income tax rates is inevitable due to the planned budget increases and the governments ambition of remaining within the recently achieved budget surplus.

The Ecumenical Council is Finally Gathered!

Image
Patriarch of Athens singing “Kyrie Eleison”

A call for an ecumenical council was made on July 25th 2020, but complex scheduling and bureaucracy delayed the council more than a month. Finally, though, all respective institutions of the Eastern Orthodoxy responded the call, and the calendar showed September 5th. As the clergymen made their way to the Congressional Palace of Athens, they created a spectacle never before seen, and the press used this opportunity wisely.

As the council started, the five most important patriarchs came forth, and saluted the other clergymen. Then, they began to sing religious hymns, in a coordinated manner. And at last, with a big chant of “Kyrie Eleison”, the central assembly, and the other respective committees began their discussions.

The Council went on for two days, and the debates were heated, but also civilised in their manner. According to the press, and the theologians, the majority of the council is in support of the agenda prosposed by the Patriarch of Athens, although some were hesitant in the matter of excommunicating the Patriarch of Constantinople. As a local bishop from Romania put it: “Constantinople is the reason why we are here, her will is the creator and protector of Eastern Orthodoxy”. But, counter-arguments were made, especially by a Georgian bishop: “Constantinople, is nothing more than a romantic ruin, and a sign of our past vassalage to Islam. The said Patriarchy is incompetent, powerless, and unable to adapt itself and the religion to the needs of the 21th century. We need to break with these useless traditions, for our faith, and our religion”.

In the end, all major issues were agreed upon and accepted, except the excommunication proposal, which was put to vote. It passed with a 2/3 majority. With the council now over, these articles were adopted by every Orthodox institution in presence;

1) All sorts of iconoclastic actions are hereby considered as heretical. The Orthodox Church will be a full supporter of arts, be it religious, or other forms of art.

2) The Eastern Orthodoxy must conform to the needs of the 21th Century, and become more inclusive. From now on, the Orthodox Church will embrace the orthodox believers who are a part of the LGBT community.

3) The Orthodox Church must be involved in the fight against racism and promote women’s rights and free speech, and an active supporter of education and science.

4) As of now, the Patriarchy of Constantinople, is now excommunicated from the Eastern Orthodoxy. All other Patriarchies and bishoprics will recognise the Patriarchy of Athens as the leading institution of the Eastern Orthodox Church.

The clergymen then made preparations to return their respective native countries, and a bishop form Kiev, during a small interview, said the council was “The beginning of a new era, for the Orthodox Church, its community across the globe, and of course, for Athens.”
"Long live the legacy of the Roman Empire!"

North American Orthodox Church refuses to recognize Patriarch of Athens, stands with Patriarch of Constantinople!
September 7th, 2020
North American Bishops throughout the NAF refuse to recognize the Patriarch of Athens.

Following the Excommunication and replacement of the Patriarch of Constantinople with that of the Patriarch of Athens, many North American Bishops, of whom felt under-represented in the making of this decision, and have shown their strong disagreement with the newest articles formed by the Council. The Bishops of Canada, Pacifica, Second United States, Southern Federation, Mexico, Yucatan, Central America, Caribbean, Hawaii and Midwestern Republic have all joined together in protest against the Council's decision and have stated that the excommunication of the Patriarch of Constantinople was a overly rash decision and that it should be immediately overturned, lest they cause a split in the church. They further demanded that the council be reheld and that the decisions made by the Ecumenical Council be re discussed or preferably voided to maintain the status quo. Until then, they have stated their refusal of recognition of the Patriach of Athens and will continue to stand with the Patriach of Constantinople, viewing him to be the true head of the Church.

First Debate between Akram and Abdullah focus's on foreign policy

Last Night, High Leader Akram and and High Candidate Abdullah finally met in the first round of debates broadcasted live to the nation. There will be three debates, one focused on Foreign Policy, another on Economics and the final one open ended. Each debate has randomly selected questions from people around Zackaroth and the ZAC. The Foreign Policy debate was the hardest hitting national debate since Zackaroth's inception, with both leaders getting loud and angry at points. Here some of the highlights.

Q. Many people, both within Zackaroth and the ZAC wish to know what the future is for relations between Puertollano and Zackaroth

Akram: "Well I believe our future is very bright together. It shows that even after all that has happened, Zackaroth and certain segments of South America can come together and have a functioning peace. Puertollano's help in the ZAC has been most welcomed in providing jobs and education for those in need of it. I would like relations to continue and grow of course. Zackaroth must aim to commit to a hard neutrality instead of making hard enemies.

Abdullah: "The High Leader still believes it is the Cold War and wants to play both sides. Now that may have worked decades ago but not in this day and age. Not after what South America did to us. While Puertollano did not directly attack Zackaroth, they still give aid to those that did. Puertollano never had the best interest of Zackaroth in mind. They only seek to kidnap, brainwash and rape our people like they did the people of the Caribbean."

Akram: That is utter nonsense. Those claims where dis-

Abdullah: " I am not finished yet. If Puertollano has our best interest in mind, why did they send a communication to the High Leader, asking for them to revoke the rights of the Magellan Companies that also sought access to the ZAC?"

At this point, one of Abdullah's aids presented a printed out communication between the Zackarothian and the Puertollano government confirming that this indeed did happen. This event seems to have shocked some in the crowd.

Akram: "As I said in that letter, we refused the offer as the Magellan Companies had the same rights as them!"

Abdullah: "The fact they would even ask would be evidence to me that they do not care about Zackaroth and only seek to plunder her resources to eventually attack us! You should have kicked them out of the ZAC, which is what I plan to do when I become the High Leader!"

The crowd at this point got very restless and had to be calmed down as the presenter got into the next question.

Q. Candidate Abdullah, you have said before that the FSR, more spefically Orostan, remains the greatest threat to Zackaroth in the modern area. Do you still believe this to be true?

Abdullah: "I do. No country on Earth, save for Nazi Germany, has shown such disdain for another race of people. The FSR would gladly kill all of us, even if we kissed their feet as Akram wants to do, in a heartbeat. Look at the reports coming from Orostan. Most people agree with a genocide against the Zackarothian people. They think they should have killed more then 1 million people. They where only stopped because we killed 9 million more. They are savages and murderers and will try to wipe us once more if we do not prepare to fight back.

Akram: Let me be clear. I am not downplaying the FSR threat to Zackaroth. They are indeed one but a manageable one. They will not attack us first, not without causing the entire international community to come down on them. We prepare against any assault but we do not engage first. My dealings with them during the Magellan blockade proved that a destructive war does not need to always come to pass. They are an enemy of Zackaroth but if we go poking them at every opportunity we are only putting ourselves in danger.

Q. How will you improve relations with our European Allies?

Akram: I do believe there is room for improvement with our European allies. France is our number one ally within Europe and thus deserves more help in the rebuilding of Nigeria. Zackaroth is specialized in removing Islamic Extremists as well as building lasting settlements in hostile regions. On my next term I plan on making several offers to help aid rebuilding their area of the country.

Abdullah: While Akram is on the right track, he once again fails to see the bigger picture. At one point, Zackaroth was part of the biggest Alliance the world had ever seen and we ushered in a year of peace not seen since the end of Second World War. However that peace was short lived-

Akram: Because of your actions.

Abdullah: As I was saying, it was short lived because some did not have the the guts to do whatever it took to keep it. But our allies in Europe will always be that, allies. And that includes all of Europe. Even the crime ridden Poland, who we can help. Not just France.

Akram: And does this help include giving Biological Weapons to potentially unstable states?

Abdullah: Excuse me?

Akram: Atleast 4-5 years ago, you authorized the transfer of Biological Weapons to the country of Germany. Not only has this state proved reckless in the time since then but extremely unstable at times. Had you not used the High Leader's clause to cover your self, this sale would have been illegal and gotten you arrested for betraying the Republic!

Abdullah: I-

Akram: Europe may be our allies but not everyone in Europe is the same and cannot be treated the same. Where was Europe when Orostan attacked us? Where was Europe in the first Nigerian Civil War? I respect nations like France and Britian for their resolve in helping make the world a better place, but nations like Germany only seek their own ends and own ambitions. And giving them Biological Weapons was not only stupid but incredibly reckless!

At this point the crowd once again became very restless and had to be calmed down. There was a brief 10 minute break as both men walked backstaged to cool off and prepare for the second round of questions.

The Sixth Republic is dead; long live the Seventh Republic!

September 27, 2020, officially marks the death of the Sixth Republic. Having been put into a state of irreversible decay following the end of the CSN mandate in Nigeria and subsequent military invasion of the country, the French Confederation could no longer function under its existing constitution. The unprecedented use of executive authority by the Presidential office caused mass protests, and seen both parliamentary proceedings and traffic in Paris gridlocked for weeks. Only a constitutional convention could break the deadlock. Today, this convention declared the formation of the Seventh Republic.

Highlights of the new constitution include;

- Greater restrictions on the use of Presidential executive power.
- Increased role of parliament on the use of deciding whether to deploy military forces abroad.
- Commitment to formalize a petition process in times of crisis which would make governments more accountable.
- A reference to "Continental Values" (speculated to be a reference to the DEU's Ideals of the Union).

Seventh Republic: Conservative President, Social-Liberal Parliament

Immediately following the formation of the Seventh Republic, both Parliamentary and Presidential elections were held.

President - Philippe Noir (Conservatives)
Prime Minister - Bernard Lamar (Republicans)
Parliamentary Coalition - Republicans, Libertarians, Continentalists

Curiously, this means that the Conservatives now control the Presidency and are thus the Head of State. This was expected, despite the popularity of Dupont as the new Republican candidate, due to the offending of the past President. However, the Conservatives did not gain enough support across the regions in order to form a legislative coalition - the resurgence of the pro-European Continentals (who had been voted out of the previous parliament) allowed them to form an alliance with the Republicans.

Seventh Republic: new foreign policy

Under the Sixth Republic, the President was able to dictate many decisions in foreign policy. However, with the gutting of executive powers under the new constitution, parliament now has significantly more influence. As such, the new foreign policy of the Seventh Republic is a strange mix of agendas pushed for by many different interest groups and parties.

European Continentalism

With the electorate showing strong support for the pro-European Continental Party, it is no surprise that Europe will remain a priority of all foreign policy under the Seventh Republic. Assistance for the beleaguered EIM signatory Calindelo is offered in terms of law enforcement and border controls within the DEU framework. All DEU members have also been informed via their ambassadors that the new government in Paris wishes to strengthen the continent from foreign interference, potential sources of aggression, and internal division. These matters will be raised in Strasbourg in the near future.

Anti-Slavery

Both the Conservatives and Social-Liberal Coalition have agreed to continue the past Republic's efforts at ending slavery worldwide. After reaffirming this commitment across the Algerian and Indochinese administrations, the French Confederation has offered to remove all tariff and FDI barriers across the French dominions (market of 133.3 million+ consumers) to imports from nations who ban and enforce the abolition of slavery, while allowing those states to retain their own protective tariffs against French exports. It is hoped that this will act as a stronger incentive to nations who continue to play host to the outdated and barbaric slave system. Assistance of the Republic's law enforcement and military is also pledged in support of hunting down local warlords and traders who continue to support slavery.

South American Detente

In exchange for a guarantee not to interfere in domestic affairs, trade has been liberalized with the FSR. The two countries have had a difficult relationship surrounding European-South American relations and the war in Nigeria, and the Sixth Republic had been among the first to recognize the secession of both Puertollano and Magella from the FSR. An olive branch is also extended to the administration in Puertollano, however the events of the recent conflict in the Caribbean mean that public perception of them in the Seventh Republic remains mixed. In contrast trade and perception continues to grow with Magella under the DEU agreement.

Other news: bombing of Mt. Tara by coalition heavily decisive in opinion polls.

Germany CAUGHT red-handed in biological weapons trade!

Article by Manuel Lopez, Senior Correspondent. Bogota

As if we have discovered anything new. During the fiery High Leader Debate in Zackaroth, High Leader Akram raised ground-breaking evidence for the entire world to know. Under the administration of the previous Zackarothian High Leader, Abdullah, the Germanic Union purchased biological weapons. This was happening at the same time as the Calin Civil War, in which Germanic imperialist forces were repelled by the Worker's Front. These are some of the more state secrets that people like the Prime Minister of Germany prefer to keep hidden, in order to maintain their hegemonic control over colonies and dominions.

Us, being the human-race, must understand such deadly and powerful weapons must never be in the hands of rogue states such as the Germanic Union. It is even more disgusting that the ex-High Leader Abdullah was involved in the international trade of biological weapons. Like we do not give a small child a gun, we most definitely do not give the fascist-influenced government of Germany the power to use chemical weapons. We are lucky they did not use them, as Germany has been trigger-happy in these circumstances.

Lest we forget the victims of Poland and Nigeria. The recent victims of European war crimes, mostly at the hands of the Prime Minister of Germany. The world needs to take a defiant stand against such actions, however, there will be little outcry against this in the places it may matter. The people of the international south are waiting for nations like France, who elected a new responsible government to power, to take measures to punish these actions. This is a message to you, President Noir; if you want detente with South America, first you have to disarm your 'allies' and stop the endless killings of civilians.

Ben Muller calls TeleSur "lazy"

After backlash from a confirmed biological weapons sell from Zackaroth to the Germanic Union, many media outlets such as the infamous TeleSur have critized the purchase.

Ben Müller spoke to a group of journalist today in front of the Executive Palace to address the issue.

"Well it seems the GU has really done it again, once again are we this massive menace. Clearly the GU of all countries is the worst.

Joking aside this is simply lazy investigative journalism from TeleSur. Had you even asked me for information I would have happily given you details I will now share. Although admitly I'm sure a High Schooler could have put this together.

Firstly it should be clear that Shoemaker purchased these weapons as they were bought nearly 4 years ago. Secondly, Shoemaker bought these weapons as a potential weapon to use against the Austrians, he even purchased a Zackarothian quarantine team so if he did fire the biological weapon into Austria he could protect it from spreading into Germany. You can even confirm this with Zackaroth. Finally since the purchase of the weapon the CSN has passed legislation prohibiting biological weapons, my administration has complied with this peice of legislation and I can confirm that biological weapon bought from Zackaroth is no longer in use."
Call me Greg (my IRL name) or UDCS. Whichever works best for you.

THE ROMAN HEALTH SERVICE

Image

27th September 2020

URT establishes centralised healthcare system funded with new pan-URT healthcare tax

Today the Roman Health Service (RSO) was established by the Roman Senate which will replace the three healthcare systems of the ADE, FE and Italy. The health service will provide free universal healthcare to the URT's 150 million citizens as well as to the millions of EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) holders from EIM member states who have opted into the DEU Continental Healthcare Accord. Other than URT citizens and EHIC holders, patients will be fully charged for RSO services to ensure that tax money is not lost on treating people who have not contributed into the system.

The RSO will gradually begin incorporating the thousands of hospitals, medical clinics, research laboratories and other centres that are under the jurisdiction of the healthcare authorities of the ADE, FE and Italy, which will then be dissolved once full control is taken. The RSO is aiming to keep as many previous workers from the legacy healthcare systems as possible, however, some administrative staff have overlapping roles meaning they will be made redundant. After the conglomeration of the three healthcare systems, the RSO will be one of the worlds top three largest employers with over 3.5 million employees.

The RSO will require NAF$390 billion of funding annually in order to function, with spending of NAF$2,600 per URT citizens per year. Rather than the national governments of the URT contributing to the system, the Senate has established the first pan-URT healthcare tax that is separate to the income tax of national governments. The Senate has not yet revealed what the percentage of income will be, however it is likely to only be approximately 5% of income after national income taxes are subtracted. The excess budgets that the national governments of the URT will be left with can be put into other services or result in tax cuts to help offset the new health tax.

The Roman Senate claims that the RSO will result in vast improvements in healthcare across the URT on all levels, using the example that healthcare spending per person in Italy will increase from NAF$1,279 per person under the national government's healthcare provider to the new FHA spending of NAF$2,600 per person under the federal government. The Senate says that while the tax payer will be paying higher taxes overall, the new health service will be 100% free across the URT including dentistry, meaning in the long term people will save money, particularly in Italy where dentistry was formally only free for under-18's and some non-life threatening medical procedures were not free.

The Beacon of Africa

Although not originally his idea, the so called 'Beacon of Africa' strategy had been adopted in all but name by Adebayo Ali, the second president of the NSR. Essentially, the strategy called for the NSR to lead by example, to prove that it could provide a better life than the others. The fact that the populace of the TACT had voted to join Australia had humiliated the NSR in the past. Even though Ali wished to reunite Nigeria, it was quite obvious that open warfare would be suicidal.

Instead, the NSR would have to focus on the ideological war. The NSR already had one major advantage in this regard. During the civil war, many intellectuals and specialists ended up fleeing to the NSR or outside of Nigeria completely, leaving the NSR as one of the beneficiaries from the Nigerian brain drain. The NSR intended to capitalize on this as much as it could.

Although not publicly stated, one of the major goals of the Five Year Plan was to attract the Nigerian intelligentsia. The main approach was essentially that "if you build it, they'll come." The major public works project were a result of this line of thinking, and would also show how a planned economy could mobilize resources of an otherwise archaic economy, akin to the Soviet industrialization campaign in the past, albeit with less collateral damage. However, truth was that the NSR didn't actually have the resources to undertake everything it was doing. Rather it relied on the FSR as its patron. While the fact that the NSR was being aided by the FSR was already public, the extent of it was never exactly specified and downplayed.

Another method also extensively used was a bit more direct. With the first signs of reconstruction finally starting to appear, a while back ago the NSR quietly updated its immigration policy. The new policy made it easier for educated Nigerians to move to the NSR, with various methods such as fast-tracking their applications and providing services to aid with adapting to their new life within the NSR. Of course, this wouldn't be publicly stated for what it really was.

Puertollano: Friend or Foe?
Image

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has recently published a statement condemning a number of recent actions in and by Puertollano, deeming the nation's actions as "indicative of the normal hypocritical nonsense one has come to expect from Castillo's dictatorial regime."

This statement is likely a response to many of Puertollano's international affairs that darken its already bad image, further establishing the nation as simply the FSR's puppet regime. One such action was the specific order from Castillo to omit the Magellan Republic from Operation Miracle, an attempt to increase medical coverage. Another was the reported request from Puertollanoan leadership to revoke access of Magellan cooperatives in their endeavor to assist with unemployment rates and economic development in the Zackarothian African Commonwealth.

"Our nation has made all attempts to be cordial with Puertollano," President Salamanca has reportedly said. "We even did not abide by our defense agreement with the Austro-Danubian Empire when the nation's territory was viciously occupied. In return, we have received nothing but underhanded techniques and passive-aggressiveness. Puertollano must either declare their intention to follow their mother country's position, as per usual, and state their opposition to Magella's very existence, or they must cease this nonsense."

This opinion is shared by the majority of representatives, even across party lines; since the Popular Front political coalition broke apart, it is unlikely that there will be any major organized opposition to action should Puertollano choose to deteriorate relations even more so than they have already.

The likely reason for such widespread support is the continued Puertollanoan occupation of Il Desiderio and the ABC islands. Puertollano, which often champions its supposed anti-imperial nature, abandoned it rather quickly upon receiving a taste of the power it could receive from it. Despite continued international attempts to defuse the situation and return the island territories back to their rightful hands, Puertollano has refused to compromise on any point, even attempting to brainwash the citizens.
SOUTH OF THE TRUTH

The Magellan condemnation of Puertollano has been perceived in Brasilia and Leticia as Magella further aligning itself with the European Social-Fascist block. Since Magella's illegal departure from the FSR via bourgeois coup, the state has spewed anti-socialist propaganda across the international airwaves and lied, often crudely, about bombings in Santiago and elsewhere. When asked about the Magellan condemnation of Puertollan actions in the Caribbean and other places, President and Chariman of the Communist Party of the FSR Higashi stated during a press conference that Puertollano is "by no means under any sort of Federation control and has its own objectives", and in response to the allegation that Puertollano is a dictatorship dismissed it as ridiculous. The Magellan government has further indicated that their stance is anti-imperialist due to the Puertollan seizure of several foreign controlled islands including Il Desiderio and others. This allegation is without any sort of factual backing. The Puertollan actions are for the liberation of literal colonies, and the Puertollan government has made clear in the CSN and in written word their desire to ensure the independence of the islands. Had the Puertollan's wanted to annex the islands they would not be demanding that internationally monitored elections happen either.

Castillo responds to Magellan allegations

As per normal, President Castillo took to national television to rebut the claims made by the Magellan Government. This is what he had to say today in response:

If South America was a human being, our Bolivarian Republic and the Federation of SR's would be the vital organs keeping South America going. The State of Magella is but a tumour in the side of South America, waiting and preparing to kill the body of life on our continent. The longer it sits there, the more deadly it grows and before too long it will have eliminated the spirit of Latin America. But - their new President is not alone in this plot. They have help from the biggest warmongers on this planet, the cabal of war criminals that linger across the European Continent. They are the number one sponsor of the Magellan facade and now Puertollano has become the victim of the latest international disinformation campaign.

I've heard the baseless allegations and complaints, so let me settle them. Yes, Puertollano did leave Magella out from Operation Miracle. Why? Because when was the last time Magella ever spent its' coffers on anything to help our Bolivarian Republic? Never! So why are we obliged to supply you with doctors when all you do is to seek furthering European colonisation through the South American continent. Before the undemocratic coup in Magella, European weaponry was limited in South America. Now they have exploded this presence and rely on their European puppet-masters to supply them with weapons of war. While you're spending all of your expenditure on bombs to kill our people, what would make us cover the costs of healthcare in your nation? Their arguments are simply hollow. And yes, we did request for Magellan co-operatives to be removed from investing in the Zackarothian African Commonwealth. We don't want the dirty fingers of imperialism staining the proud and independent African continent. I still continue my call to the very honourable High Leader Akram to remove the presence of Magella. History tells us that wherever Magella goes, they carry the odour of Germany and Austria with them. Frankly, I do not want to see what these war criminals can do in East Africa, especially after their devastating record in Nigeria and so forth. To the people of Africa, you do not want to see Magella monopolising your resources, as you know at the end of the day, it is to further their imperialist cause.

It only gets better, as their remarks become more and more desperate. Magella said they were interested in upholding a decent relationship with our Bolivarian Republic. Insane. Do you want cordial diplomatic relations? Maybe don't declare war on us as a nation! Is that too extreme for you, dirty imperialist dogs? Maybe don't house European elements that later attempt to invade our homeland! Is that too extreme to say you shouldn't harbour those trying to invade Puertollano? Our Bolivarian Republic has done nothing ill to the nation of Magella, yet we are the target of their smear campaign. Our way of life is threatened by their continual degradation of the the international rule of law and flagrant use of force against us. It's all a big plot, a plot against us, a plot against the FSR. That's why I never trust a word they say; because they weaponize false information.

Magella, I'm telling you, look at who you are letting exploit your lands for military gain. One of them in the Germanic Union. The Germanic Union is holding back an election for the Federation of Nativist Islands, despite our calls for a referendum immediately. If you support self-determination and democracy in South America you should be condemning the delay tactics from the Germanic Union that seek to prevent the voice of the Caribbean being heard. Contrary to the lies spread, Operation Anti-Colonialismo is not colonialism. We've stuck true to our core beliefs of anti-imperialism by liberating the ABC Islands and Il Deserido and giving them the vote. Giving the people of the Caribbean the choice of independence is not an act of imperialism. Rather, it is an act of defiant anti-imperialism in the face of international bullies and sycophants. Long live our Bolivarian Republic. Death to Imperialism.

Academic Party is Split in Two!

Shocking news arrived this morning, as the most influential political party in the Senate, the Academic party, lost nearly half of its members and senators. The splinter politicians and senators founded a new party: the Secular-Pacifist Party. With political uncertainty imminent, only one question lingers: Why did this split happen?

According to the most prominent figure in SPP, the old Acamedic Party senator Feridas Damadou, the split happened because «The Academic Party lost its way, betrayed its founding principles, and turned away from the earlier policies of the deceased Emperor». According to the newly written manifesto, the SPP advocates for a return to absolute neutrality, normalising relations with the South Americans, limiting the actions of the Patriarchy of Athens, revitalisation of the International Union of Education, and less alignment to the URT, and an ultimate cessation from the Triumvirate. A significant number of senators within the party are also pushing for a Swiss-like foreign policy, with FE leaving the DEU and the EIM.

The leadership of the Academic Party defined the split as a «terrible mistake on their part», and claimed that their policies were foolish, as one senator said «the DEU and the URT are necessary organs for the FE to continue having a peaceful existence, and to be shown the respect that she deserves»

With the a new party emerging, the Fregantese Social Democratic Front (FSDF) might become the kingmaker in the next election.

Patriarchy of Athens Softens the Points Made in the Council

In response to the protests of the American bishops, and a rising conversion to the Eastern Orthodoxy with a possible schism, the Patriarchy of Athens made an announcement, promising to greatly soften the points made in the council.

The opposition to the decisions made in the council came to be because of the «vagueness» of the terms and expressions employed, and a fear of seeing the Orthodox Church being politicised. These arguments were convinced the Patriarchy, and the first three articles were dropped, and the forth was modified to cancel the excommunication of the Patriarchy of Constantinople, because, in the words of the Patriarch, «although the institution is obidient and corrupted, it still holds immense historical and religious importance».

As of now, the only significant decision of the council is the leadership transfer from Constantinople to Athens, and the Patriarchy hopes that the American bishops will accept this compromise, and leave behind «the bizarre and funny ideas about creating a new schism ».

Puertollanoan Catholic Church officially adopts 'Liberation Theology'

With massive changes in overseas religion, the Puertollanoan Catholic Church has taken a new direction altogether. Christianity, more specifically Catholicism is the largest religious group in the nation and it was a large debate to embark on this: the Puertollanoan Catholic Church adopting the 'Liberation Theology'. Liberation Theology is the idea that a Christians purpose in life is to work against the capitalist system, which ultimately oppresses the poor and needy. It was born through the ideas of many Central American Marxist Preachers and many throughout Brazil and so on. President Castillo has been an important proponent behind this shift, advocating for the Catholic Church to adopt this position for a while now. Naturally, the right-wing of the Catholic Church is up in arms and is asking for the Pope to intervene in their favour (as they have done in the past). CEO of PuertoVision, Alejandro Piena a devout Catholic said: "it is another attempt by Castillo to politicise every facet of life in Puertollano. First he uses public funds to create a leftist propaganda machine, now he is influencing the Church. God would hate him!" Some several high-level media personalities have backed this move by the Catholic Church and have stood behind the Priests that were instrumental in this decision. Priest Gavrilo Antonio said: "Liberation Theology is the essence of Christianity and Catholicism. At no stage has Christianity ever been a 'right-wing' religion, since when was chasing rich bastards out of the markets with whips a 'right-wing' thing to do? Never!" The Puertollanoan Catholic Church has recommended the other churches in Latin America to adopt similar stances.

Interior Ministry report concludes "2 feral children could be living in the Italian wilderness"

Today the Ministry of the Interior released a report that has been created over a 5 year period after dozens of reports from people living in remote mountain villages of the Apennine mountains claiming that they had seen a child approximately 11 years of age in the dense mountain woodland behind their properties in 2014. The sightings came from the most remote region of the Apennines that is home to Apennine wolves, which have historically been known to 'foster' babies that have been left in the wilderness.

The government report investigated thousands of records of children born in Italy around 11 years before the sightings and cross-referenced those with death records, missing persons files and criminal files. After the cross-referencing was completed a discrepancy was found, 2 twins who were born in 2003 were found to not have any reports of entering the school, adoption or healthcare system and were not recorded as dead or missing meaning they could have been abandoned in the Apennine forest by their parents, who were both recorded as killed by suicide only several weeks after the twins were born. This means it is possible that there are 2 feral children living in the Apennine wilderness raised by an animal.

A separate investigation has now been launched into the Child Protection Agency, who did not investigate where the twins were after their parents were pronounced dead. Minister of the Interior, Enrico Letta, has made a statement condemning the Child Protection Agency and other government authorities for "Letting the lives of children simply fall through the cracks of bureaucracy. That is not acceptable." Enrico Letta also confirmed that no attempt will be made to track down the 2 feral children, who would now be aged around 17, as "It is highly likely that they have passed away living in the wilderness before reaching 17 years of age and it would be inhumane to confine someone in a feral state to a human environment as all they know is the wild."

Minister of the Interior Enrico Letta said it is not acceptable for anyones lives to slip through the net: Image

HIGASHI GROWS A MUSTACHE

The largest pro-capitalist party in the Federation, the "National Democracy[sic] League" recently had its party headquarters in Brasilia raided by the People's Counter-Intelligence Division over the funding and aiding of the party by agents of the Italian government. These allegations of Italian aid were only published several hours after every person inside the NDL offices had been arrested at gunpoint. The PCID has since the raid presented documents outlining money transfers from Italian non-governmental organizations associated closely with the Italian government, and media and strategy aid. Further documentation and internal party reports discussing efforts to distribute anti-communist propaganda and attempts to influence the media board have been also established. Five Italian nationals have been arrested in association with the raid, and are currently being held, along with an undisclosed number of NDP staff members. It is expected that the party leaders will be prosecuted by the PCID in accordance with Orostani laws "grandfathered in" to FSR law codes, which means that they will likely face the death penalty or a maximum sentence in a Federation gulag of 15 years. The PCID has stated in its press release that it obtained knowledge of the conspiracy through an anonymous tip, and that further information on foreign agents working in the FSR will be 'rewarded'.

While it has been known publicly by the PCID for quite some time that Italian agents have operated and continue to operate in the FSR, the extent of these previous operations and size has not been publicized. It is very likely that the PCID will intensify its operations against foreign agents due to this unexpected penetration of the Federation political system, as well as the less recent bombing of a major chemical plant near Sao Paulo.

SPP and MTS meet in Galician 'peace conference'

The Secular Pacifist Party of Greece and the Movement Towards Socialism of Puertollano have sent representatives to Galicia to meet cordially in a sign of peace and reconciliation. The Secular Pacifist Party in Greece recently broke away from the dominant Academic Party over what it saw as a drift away from the nations historically peaceful and pacifist stance in international issues. Even since its' inception into the Roman Triumvirate, the Academic Party has seen a drastic change in foreign policy and this also meant a far more hard-line approach on South America. The Movement Towards Socialism Party in Puertollano is the party of Castillo and helped organise this conference to be held in Galicia. While the President himself didn't comment on the meeting, the spokesperson for MTS said that; "Puertollano is always working towards peace, reconciliation, hence we applaud the effort by the Secular Pacifist Party in neutralising relations with South America and removing itself from the imperialist bloc". The meeting, as far as the media are aware, went swimmingly. There were multiple occasions for photo opportunities and shaking of hands. MTS has wished the SPP the best of luck in the next election.

Foreign Affairs Minister Borut Pahor makes formal extradition request and summons FSR ambassador in Rome

After 5 Italian nationals were arrested in the FSR the Foreign Affairs Minister Borut Pahor announced that the ministry has officially filed for formal extradition of the 5 nationals from the FSR to Italy. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and The Ministry of Justice have both written to the government of the FSR assuring that the 5 nationals will be given a fair trial in Italy after extradition and that witnesses and any necessary representatives or lawyers from the FSR would be allowed to take part in the prosecution of the 5 individuals on their return to Italy if extradition is granted.

In an official statement, Borut Pahor explained "It is not standard protocol for the MoFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) to request extradition of all arrested Italian nationals overseas, however due to the political nature of the arrests we fear that justice will not be served with a fair trial. Furthermore, it is government policy to request extradition of any Italian citizens possibly facing the death penalty due to the nature of the punishment and the governments commitment to opposing capital punishment worldwide. We also fear for the possible sentencing of the 5 nationals to a 'Federation Gulag' for 15 years, due to the suspected inhumane conditions and human rights abuses that we assume take place in these facilities."

The Ministry of Defence has also reached out to the government of the FSR opposing the Orostani authorities accusations regarding Italian government involvement in funding and aiding the "National Democracy League". Former-president and current Minister of Defence Mariastella Gelmini claimed "The Ministry of Defence and entire Italian government have no affiliation with the National Democracy League, this conspiracy concocted by the Orostani regime must not lead to the deaths of 5 people. Even if they have broken the law they deserve a fair trial here in Italy and no one ever deserves the death penalty."

Throughout the URT #Justiceforthe5 is the most trending tropic, with tens-of-thousands of people on social media announcing their support for the 5 persecuted Italian nationals. Petitions to the FSR government asking for forgiveness and the return of the men started by the families of the 5 nationals have also received thousands of signatures and have been sent directly to the government of the FSR.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Borut Pahor- "We have reached out to Andean authorities to hopefully allow for a peaceful resolution to this matter." Image

FSR Approves Funding For Superconducting Particle Collider

In the last several decades, our understanding of particle physics has drastically improved. Research in the sector for long has been dominated by Europe and North America, with more recently China entering the sector but being interrupted by its civil war. However, South America for long lagged behind the other powers. Under the FSR's new administration, research was viewed as a key priority for the new country, and although it would take many years for the effects to start being noticeable funding for the sciences were increased. A product of this shift was the Superconducting Particle Collider, which will hopefully both cultivate and attract scientists into the FSR. With a circumference of three hundred kilometers, the SPC would be the largest particle collider ever built and would test the engineering capabilities of the FSR. Although expected to cost 80 billion dollars to build, some of the higher estimates say that the cost could potentially rise up to 150 billion. Regardless, the project has been guaranteed full support and funding for its operations, an issue which plagued the construction of other particle colliders in the past. Set to launch in 2034, the SPC would help secure the FSR a key position in particle research, and it has been announced that the SPC would be open for international research as well.

President Ali Adresses Some Questions

Q. What is your outlook on how the NSR should conduct foreign policy in the future, particularly that regarding Nigeria?

Ali: The goal of Nigerian reunification is something the NSR must continue to strive for. It might take years, even decades, but we mustn't give up on it. In the meanwhile, we must focus on building up our country and prove that socialism can work in Africa. The NSR has already taken great strides yet we still have plenty of work left to do. Once we prove that socialism is a viable model in Africa, I believe that other socialist movements will start to arise on the continent. That being said, internationalism is also a key priority for us. That's why I am deeply honored to announce that the Founding Congress for the Fifth Internationale will take place in Lagos, which I hope will lead to a renewed era of workers' solidarity.

Q. Many people have begun to call for an end to conscription while others believe it is still necessary. What are your views on the matter?

Ali: While the civil war is certainly over by now, conscription for our reserve forces is a necessary evil we'll have to face. The ICN and other terrorist organizations are still alive and active, and it has been shown in the past that they wouldn't hesitate to target us. However, more worrying is that we're still surrounded as to say, akin to Calindelo in the past. We must focus on securing our position and building up our military capabilities. That being said, as our situation improves we can expect for conscription to end, and such a time could likely come within a decade.

Q. You compared the NSR's situation to that of socialist Calindelo in the past, yet the former regime has been met with much controversy. Do you feel that the WFC was justified in their actions?

Ali: While it pains me to admit, the WFC ended up acquiring several counter-revolutionary traits towards its existence and practically shot itself in the foot multiple times. However, Calindelo did see some much-needed progress under socialism. The WFC came into power right after a civil war, arguably much harsher conditions then the post-socialist government. Yet despite that only now is the Calin economy starting to recover to its former levels. The fact that the Polish Expeditionary Force in Nigeria ended up defecting to our side after the imperialist cronies were installed practically proved how awfully the new government ran the scene.

The Continental Standard

Long live Europa

"What next for Mr Dupont?"

The last several years have been busy for Charles Dupont; emerging on the global political scene as the Sixth Republic's representative to the DEU Assembly, Dupont was the architect of grand reforms following the Great European War which would bring the continent together through common interests in the fields of commerce, healthcare, and security. Reappearing in Iceland, he spearheaded disarmament talks and pushed for action in relation to the Nigerian Crisis when the rest of the world was silent. Rewarded for these efforts with the position of CSN Speaker, the subsequent Nigerian Civil War sparked by the South American communists to topple the existing left-leaning government was to be his greatest challenge. By laying the groundwork for the French Confederation's invasion of the country after the CSN intervention proved to be little more than false promises from many contributors, Dupont resigned in order to return to domestic politics and claim the Republican presidential nomination. Following the victory of his Conservative opponent, he has been unusually silent - today is his first interview with journalists since the week after the election.

REPORTER: "Thank you for agreeing to this interview Mr Dupont, you've been notoriously hard to track down since the election. What have you been up to since your defeat?"

DUPONT: "I've been reflecting upon the challenges which this new Seventh Republic shall face over the course of this decade, and how I might best help my party rise from the ashes of the Sixth Republic. One main central theme was dominant in all of these issues; Europe."

REPORTER: "So you disagree with the Conservative Party's assertion that it was Europe which abandoned our servicemen in the deserts and jungle of Nigeria?"

DUPONT: "Absolutely. The DEU did not officially play any combat role in Nigeria, it was the inability of the CSN to act cohesively which left the country in such a precarious position."

REPORTER: "Brave of you to say, being the Speaker at the time!"

DUPONT: "I want to speak honestly; it was the first ever CSN combat deployment on such scale, and so there was no past method or blueprint from which to work from. Add to that the fact that many nations proved eager to take part under the CSN mandate, but had inadequate planning or experience in such operations, it left us, NAF, Bendicion, and the GU filling in the gaps. Don't forget even the socialist 'super power' of the FSR cut their loses and abandoned Nigeria because they realized it wouldn't be over within a week!"

REPORTER: "So, what is next for you, Mr Dupont?"

DUPONT: "I wish to create a stronger Seventh Republic and a stronger Europe, and so will be visiting major cities across the continent and the Confederation. Once that is done, I shall attempt to lobby for DEU policy making to reforge the ideals of the union which corruption, crime, poverty, and war threaten."

PSAN continues redevelopment as insurgency continues

"While the invasion of Nigeria took two years, the reconstruction period will likely take far longer," Philippe Noir said this week at a rally in the capitol of the Nigerian Confederation. It was his first foreign trip since being elected President of the new Seventh Republic, although he was accompanied by Parliamentary figures from the legislative governing coalition including the Prime Minister. Addressing a crowd of approximately 45,000 Nigerians, the assembled dignitaries reaffirmed their commitment to the security of the Nigerian Confederation. "After all, it was the French Confederation which first took an active role in support of relief for the Nigerian humanitarian crisis in the CSN assembly, spearheaded the only successful offensive during the CSN Mandate, brought about the establishment of this independent state, and then formed the coalition which successfully liberated the rest of the country from extremist control unlike those states which abandoned their humanitarian obligations." Prime Minister Lamar reminded, in a rare show of unity with the Conservative President, his political opponent. "Furthermore," he continued, "we shall investigate and bring justice for the crimes committed during the civil war. I have received reports of mass graves being unearthed in the desert, and of massacres which were committed in the jungles in the south. All such acts will be punished."

While the French politicians spoke in Calabar, the military to the north of the Benue river was at last forced to heel once more following their runaway mission creep which had been permitted under the Sixth Republic's final months. Bureaucrats from the defense ministry in Paris arrive in the PSAN administered territories and oversee the transition from military occupation to a policing garrison aimed at maintaining civil order. A permanent force comprised of Algerian dominion troops will provide defense and security to the region, with a new local peacekeeping force being established from volunteers who can be vetted by the Confederation's intelligence agencies. At the same time, all borders remain secured by both combat veteran ground forces and UAVs who will ensure that the ongoing insurgency is not able to receive assistance from foreign supporters or spread abroad. The poisonous and violent successor factions to the former ICN regime will be starved of energy until capitulation. While the borders remain closed, new currency reserves, food, water, consumer goods, and medical supplies continue to arrive at Nigerian Confederation ports in the south and the main roads into the north for wider distribution. With the recovery plan of post-Khmer Rouge Cambodia in Indochina being repeated in French Confederation-occupied Nigeria, the devastated economy is tariff-protected on many sectors except incoming aid. The reconstruction of dams, generators, bridges, and city centers is also underway, however these efforts are not open to private participation due to fears that an open market would lead to foreign domination and exploitation at this early stage. In Cambodia, this was used to ensure that the transition from totalitarian communist rule to a market economy was successful. Remaining local intelligentsia are also invited to form local councils tasked with reestablishing a system of public goods provision and eventually taxation, while at the same time subsidies are prepared for the majority of subsistence farmers once foreign humanitarian aid inevitably is phased out.

Shipyards win contracts in NAF and French Confederation

Shipwards across both the North American Federation and French Confederation have been awarded contracts to construct a new Decisive-class cargo vessel. The ships constructed by the Seventh Republic will be part of a public-private partnership in order to act as a source of revenue for shipping across the dominions, be staffed by both civilians and military officials. The first of the class is expected to be completed in mid to late 2021, and will immediately enter service from Mers El Kebir, however there has been no confirmation as to the total number of hulls in the class expected to be laid down.

NSR soldiers arrive to train in Bolivarian Military Academy

Soldiers from the now-formed Nigerian Socialist Republic have arrived in Puertollano with great fanfare to begin a training process in the Bolivarian Military Academy of South America. The Bolivarian Military Academy of South America is an organisation only recently founded by President Castillo, to train forces close to the Bolivarian Republic in modern military combat and a stringent political education. The 50 or so African soldiers of the NSR were greeted with friendliness by their Puertollanoan colleagues who have already began their trialling and training courses. According to Defence officials, the Bolivarian Military Academy is training these Socialist Republican soldiers to become an elite fighting forces after a rigorous vetting period. The NSR students received a letter from President Castillo, which stated that "the people of our Bolivarian Republic are behind the cause and spirit of the Nigerian Socialist Republic. And you, the lucky few, are to uphold the values of the revolution; equality, fraternity and liberty that has striking similarities to our fellow socialistic governments spanning across the entire World." The portrait of assassinated President Ali of the NSR has been added to the wall of martyrs in the Academy, hanging alonside Allende, Castro, Che and Castillo himself.

Ministry of Economy and Finance launches 'Legio Roma' private military service to generate jobs for ex-army and special forces personnel

Today Vittorio Grilli, the Minister for Economy and Finance, officially launched the government's state-backed Private Military Corporation named Legio Roma. It is hoped that the company will being making profits almost immediately and will cover its set up costs within the next few years. From then on the profits of the company will partially be reinvested to help it grow while the rest of money that has not been spent will be put into the governments financial reserves to contribute towards keeping the country financially stable and safe from a government spending standpoint.

Vittorio Grilli also commented on the aims of Legio Roma to employ ex-soldiers and special forces personnel who are struggling to reintegrate into society. Due to the hoped profitability of the company, Legio Roma personnel will also receive higher salaries than traditional soliders, which will help to ensure that the company attracts enough staff to operate globally on missions that companies, governments or wealthy individuals pay for.

Legio Roma has already been contracted on its first mission by a collection of African governments that have payed an undisclosed amount for a 24 month operation for Legio Roma to track and hunt illegal poachers in the savannah and jungles of Africa, with orders to kill the poachers on site to help reduce illegal poaching on the continent. As Legio Roma has just launched it will be focussing all of its personnel on this operation until it hires more personnel to undertake other missions worldwide. Legio Roma currently employs just under 5,000 ex-forces personnel but will also hire ordinary citizens from any DEU country who are willing to go through intense special-forces training in order to work for the company.
