The Austro-Danubian Empire

February 27th, 2019

The Empire Acquires Pacific Holdings

Following several days of negotiation between Imperial ambassadors and representatives of our newfound independent friend, the Republic of Magellan, the Empire has agreed to a series of treaties and talks that aim to work in the benefit of both states. The first, and perhaps the most important clauses of these talks (for the Empire at least), has been the official purchase of both Easter Island (and its small surrounding islands) and Salas y Gómez. The combined territories have officially been reformed into an Austro-Danubian Colony of two names: Die Imperiale Kolonie von Osterinsel (The Imperial Colony of Easter Island), and The Imperial Colony of Rapa Nui (out of respect for its native inhabitants).

Based from its capital of Hanga Roa, the Imperial Colony of Easter Island is home to a unique branch of Polynesian peoples called the Rapa Nui. It is also host to a UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the Moai, which were the Rapa Nui's way of honouring their deified ancestors by carving them into humanoid sculptures. The island's population currently stands at around 8,000 inhabitants, all of whom are already receiving the benefits of life under the Empire.

The Empire is already investing heavily into the island to improve the quality of life for its locals and to build early relations with the Rapa Nui people. The Empire is working to achieve what the Chileans (and then Magellans) could never manage to do: to become actual friends of the Rapa Nui people. An Imperial Governor-in-Name has already been dispatched to the island to work closely with the people there until they elect their first Imperial Governor on their own.

The Directory has not yet released its intentions for the future of the island, but there have been some talks of creating a small New Bucharest-esque Austrian settlement on the island along with a military base out of distance from the Park or the defacto capital of the Colony, Hanga Roa. The Directory has released, however, that the waters surrounding the Empire's first Pacific colony are to be under the joint control of the ADE and the Magellan Republic.

An Imperial Banner has been created for the Imperial Colony of Easter Island, incorporating blues to represent the Pacific Ocean, the Imperial Standard to represent the Empire, and a red reimiro to represent the Rapa Nui people (they often wear these ornaments in public).

Emperor Martin von Habsburg-Lorraine is expected to speak on this subject in his upcoming speech next week, but he has released an official statement in the meantime officially welcoming the Rapa Nui people into the glorious Austro-Danubian Empire.

Dealings With the Magellan Republic

The Directory has recently released official reports involving the Empire's involvement with the Magellan Republic's secession. Like many had assumed, the Empire worked closely with Magellan secessionists to provide them support in their decision to pursue self sovereignty. The reports are still lacking specificity, but one can only think that, with the deals with the Magellan Republic that were recently announced, that the Empire pulled some major strings in order to assure the Magellan peoples their safety.

Besides being the first nation to officially recognize the Magellan Republic as a sovereign entity, the Empire formed an official Defensive Alliance with them immediately upon their secession. The fleets participating in War Games in the South Atlantic were put on alarm right away, and were to form a protective shield around the infant Republic. Following the deals regarding the acquisition of Easter Island, the Atlantic Fleet swung around the southern tip of the Magellan Republic to safeguard the Pacific from any assault from the Federation of Socialist Republics. The 25,000 Reichswehr soldiers (accompanied by 10,000 Foreign Legionaries) that were recently sent to New Bucharest rushed to the Magellan/FSR border to provide a defense against any FSR incursion by land, as well.

After the Magellan Republic received recognition and guaranteed protection from several nations around the world, the Empire opened up a round of discussions with the Magellans. As you already know by now, Easter Island and Salas y Gomez were sold to the Empire to form the Imperial Colony of Easter Island, but a list of other deals were made as well. The Empire was given permission to host military bases within Magellan territory (three are already scheduled for creation), and the cities of Valparaiso and Arica/Iqueque were opened up as free ports for the ADE. In return, the Empire agreed in a series of economic gestures that would ensure the Magellan Republic doesn't collapse under the heavy weight of seceding from the FSR.

Both the Atlantic Fleet and the Mediterranean fleet are currently protecting the new Republic's waters, while the 35,000 troops on the Magellan border are to prevent any rash thinking from officials within the FSR.

The Empire To Cut Off Krasendof in Favour of the Magellan Republic

Following the negotiations with the Magellan Republic, the Empire has decided to honor its obligations to assist the Magellan economy. Austrian economists have gathered to create a solution that helps the Magellans with as little damage to the Austrian economy as possible. Together they evaluated all aspects of the Austrian situation with trade with the former Austro-Danubian Imperial Colony of Krasendof, and the conclusion was made that it would be best if the Directory provided a means to redirect the Empire's trade with Krasendof to the Magellan Republic.

The entirety of the Directory's capabilities were put to use, and with the help of some of Austria's most well-known economists, a plan was devised that would provide Austrian corporations with the cheapest means of redirecting all (or most) of their Krasendoffer products with Magellan-made products. This is possible because products the Empire mostly bought from Krasendof could easily be replaced with Magellan products (both economies being raw material based economies that produce some the same goods/materials). The plans for smoothly redirecting trade were approved by the Magellan government (which currently still holds quite a bit of control over its economy), and were sent to all Austrian companies that participated with imports from Krasendof. After giving said plans to the Empire's corporations, the Empire sent representatives in the name of the Directory to *assist* the said corporations to approve of them, and then the dice was rolled.

The Directory then released that it was going to raise Krasendoffer tariffs of the goods that major Austrian corporations purchase to over 250% (besides the import of oil, diamonds, and coffee) on March 20th (OOC: or until they can IC respond), smoothly transitioning the Empire's trade from Krasendof to the Magellan Republic.

This move is expected to hurt Krasendof's economy quite a bit, but many across the Empire are seeing it as justified as Krasendof had allowed itself to fall to an undemocratic corporate dictator. Many speculate that this action was in some way shape or form a long time in the making due to Krasendof's constant hostile attitude and slander of the Empire, but currently we can only see what is to come of these recent happenings. The March 20th date gives Krasendoffer corporations time to redirect trade to other nations, however.

Government Retaliation

Polish Police stand guard at a makeshift checkpoint at the road connecting Bratislava and the D2 Motorway.

After weeks of silence from the government of the Socialist States, the government finally reciprocated on the "Christmas Attack". Hundreds of military police and soldiers of the army entered the city of Bratislava and declared a ctywide lockdown.

Bratislava was believed to house the headquarters of the Fighters For Calin Equality, along with at least ten thousand of its members. The government justified this as necessary as the organization caused chaos and anarchy in Warsaw, which is enough to justify a citywide lockdown. The military and the police will be searching every property and every individual in the city, and will arrest suspicious members of the city. The government are now demanding for the members of the FFCE to surrender to avoid the death penalty. As of January 12, 55 people have surrendered to the government, they were sadly lied to and are now being escorted to Lodz for execution.

Meanwhile, selected mandates of the Executive Mandate № 191 is reauthorized on the entire region of Slovakia and the cities of Prague, Brno, and Ostrava on the region of Bohemia-Moravia.

Overview of the Incident in Bratislava
Joan Dough

Map of Bratislava, with red signifying the FFCE and green signifying the Polish Government.

On the afternoon of February 5, hundreds of Bratislavian civilians flood the main street of Bratislava in the city center (Staré Mesto) to peacefully protest, demanding the government to stop the invasion of privacy of the police for the past month, and to abolish the discrimination from the Polish. Protesting is currently illegal on the region of Slovakia, which in turn riot police gathered around the protesters, arresting the protesters, and beating them with iron batons one by one. 2 hours later, on 13:55, the police were ordered to fire rubber bullets at the protesters to quickly stop the protests. a considerable amount of the members of protesters were FFCE, so most of them were armed. The FFCE fired warning shots at the air or directly at the under armed police officers. The FFCE followed the retreating police and drove almost all authorities out of the city, and by hours, the whole city was under FFCE control.

The next day, the FFCE set charges and destroyed Polish governmental buildings on the city, and used the rubble of the buildings as barricades and the FFCE placed them on roads leading in or out the city. Most civilians refused to cooperate with the FFCE as they expected the group to achieve Calin equality, not to pillage and take a Slovak city. Most of the civilians continued their lives and returned to their homes, and waited for the end of the event. Meanwhile, President Kraszanka labled the FFCE as "Major terrorists violating the peace and safety of Europe". She then sent a brigade of soldiers from the 4th Infantry Division to retake the city of Bratislava.

The Army slowly advanced and had trouble to continue through the defenses of the FFCE, as most of the barricades were full of IEDs, and bomb squads sent to deactivate the hidden IED's were quickly apprehended by snipers. For the past few weeks, the Army has successfully retaken the northern and eastern parts of the city, while the advance from the mostly undefended south has seen rapid success. On the 24th of February, a ceasefire was agreed on, as the leader of the FFCE, Patrik Cudova, negotiate with the field commander of the 4th Infantry Division.

In the meantime, unauthorized civilians were forced to stay in Bratislava as soldiers were told to shoot or arrest individuals trying to leave the city. At the very least, 50 people have perished trying to leave the city.

FFCE members burns tires to create a makeshift deadly smokescreen against the Army.

On the 25th of February, a prisoner exchange were supposed to occur under the negotiations under the FFCE and Poland, and the FFCE were supposed to deliver a convoy full of Civilians to a military camp outside the city, but a squad from the 4th Infantry Division intercepted the convoy and fired rounds at the convoy, killing most of the passengers. The incident is currently being investigated by the Army, with the most probable cause is the squad acted on their own, or they were not aware a convoy were indeed going through the city.

This enraged the leader of the FFCE, Patrik Cudova, as he pulled out of the negotiations. As retaliation, the FFCE rounded up all the POW's of the FFCE, and known Polish civilians currently in Bratislava, (all in all over 75 people), and executed them by firing squad at the city center at Staré Mesto. The FFCE blamed the Polish on ordering the attack on the convoy, and persuaded some of the civilians to join the FFCE, and by the day after, the FFCE were on the offensive and pushed the army a few kilometers away from Staré Mesto.

The battle will eventually end and the FFCE will surely lose, but with over 100,000 lives at stake, the war needs to end fast.

The Continental Standard

Long live Europa

Authoritarianism returns to Europe

From a team of reporters in Warsaw, Prague, and Bratislava

Executive Mandate 191 (source: Calindelo) has been reinstated by the Government of Calindelo - and with it the iron curtain has once more covered Eastern Europe. Today however, we here at the Continental Standard make a stand against the unjust oppression of President Kraszanka. The President who ordered the violent suppression of public demonstrators soon after their election (twice). The same dictator who arrested and imprisoned for 28 years under maximum security former President Prochazka, before banning their party despite their legitimacy being proven at the ballot box to at least hold seats.

The FFCE may be a threat to European security, but Kraszanka's regime is a threat to European democracy.

We at the Continental Standard understand that the danger posed by extremist groups can be a major threat to the safety of any country. However, "condemning of the Government and its departments" is clearly a violation of the basic civil and political liberties vital to any democracy. And so we now inform our readers that this issue of the Standard is being written here in Prague - in defiance of Kraszanka's censorship.

General Directive 3: The President ordered that Rallying, Demonstrating, Striking, condemning of the Government and its departments, and any other shape or form of protesting are declared illegal, and therefore is prohibited.

Thus our four staff currently in the country are also breaking General Directive 5;

General Directive 5: The President Proclaimed that any citizen, immigrant, or tourist are required to obey and follow the orders of the authorities. Questioning, flouting, disregarding, or ignoring the authorities are now considered a major criminal offense.

Furthermore, this issue of the Standard is being printed and distributed by our four staff members within Czechoslovakia as soon as it is completed. It is, as usual, also available online assuming the page can be accessed past the censorship. As such, anyone who so much as reads the headline of this page will be in violation of General Directive 7;

General Directive 7: The President proclaimed that the use of foreign social media, online video streaming platforms, blogs, news sites, and online video games are to be banned and therefore, blocked in the states of Poland. Anyone caught guilty of bypassing the blocks are considered criminals.

We fully condemn the violent actions taken by the militant FFCE. However, these blatant acts against democracy in the name of 'security' are clearly illegitimate, and as such we call for the member-states of the DEU to not allow these actions to go unnoticed.

Of course, we should also be asking; is this somebody who can be trusted with nuclear weapons?

Argus CyberSecurity begins operations throughout Italy, purchasing operations centre in San Pancrazio Salentino

Today the government confirmed that Australian firm Argus CyberSecurity has successfully purchased a mostly unused business park in southern Italy just outside the small town of San Pancrazio Salentino with a population of 10,000 on the Gargano peninsula. The business park was constructed by the government as part of the former 'Southern Development Fund', which has now been discontinued due to its success at equalling the HDI of northern and southern Italy. Despite being built, the business park was considered "too large" for such a rural area so never had many businesses located there, making it mostly unused, but still maintained by the local town government as the owners of the site until its sale today.

Argus CyberSecurity's main role will be to help safeguard internet and cyber connections throughout the nation alongside the government which has its own department dedicated to this role. The government will be paying Argus CyberSecurity for their services which the government assures will not replace its national cybersecurity, but will merely bolster national internet safety and cybersecurity, a government minister justified the decision in a short message: "During a time of technological advancement, with nations and individuals holding the means to harm Italy in numerous ways over the net, from spreading misinformation to panic the public to shutting down critical software in hospitals nationwide, it is clear that as a nation we must be able to defend ourselves from this malicious intent from a few nations and people, that is why we have employed Argus CyberSecurity to work alongside the government to give our nation extra capabilities to defend our cyberspace."

The Ministry of Defence later confirmed that Argus CyberSecurity will not be involved in any way with the governments offensive cyber systems and that the COC (Cybernetic Operations Command) will not have any communications or involvement with Argus CyberSecurity for operational secrecy reasons.

Operation Rubicon

The following is a VOLKSWEHR official military dispatch, and not a news post. OOC: I just don't have time for a full post at the moment.

As the news regarding the situation in Bratislava in the Polish occupied state of Slovakia was released, emergency meetings were scheduled between His Majesty Emperor Martin von Habsburg-Lorraine, Proconsul Edmund von Grau, and Oberbefehlshaber Marco Reinhardt.

Official reports of discussions have not yet been released, but it had been decided that drastic action must be taken by the Empire in order to bring a final end in Polish tyranny in the region.

Operation Rubicon would begin as twilight broke the night of February 28th, and would be carried out until its motives were accomplished entirely. Operation Rubicon opened up with a single Austrian drone flying over Bratislava and launching a single missile purchased from the Zackarothian Government (currently disclosed) in the skies above the city. The missile, which was actually a newly developed EMP, and completely disabled all non-hardened electronics in a fifteen square mile from the point of its detonation.

Austrian special force units then crossed the Danube River at several points, while two B-2 Spirit Bombers harassed known outposts of the Polish military near Bratislava. Austrian special forces, under the cover of night, secured the Slovakian roads E575 and E65 in operations out of both Metropolitan Austria and Austria-Hungary. Casualty reports aren't yet released, but the operation was swift and the Polish defenders weren't expecting it.

5,000 permanently mobilized soldiers of the Reichswehr then crossed the Danubian River via the Gabčíkovo Dam and are making there way to Bratislava via E575. 5,000 permanently mobilized soldiers of the Reichswehr also crossed the Morova River and have occupied the small town Devínska Nová Ves, they are currently preparing to approach Bratislava from the West.

The Metropolitan Austrian Military Protection Organization (MAMPO) then sent 20,000 troops (as the entirety of MAMPO is always permanently mobilized) to completely close off Bratislava's Southwest borough of Petržalka.

In total, 30,000 Austrian troops are closing in on the city of Bratislava. They are covered by a fleet of recently purchased F/A-19 Falcons (90) ready to respond at a moment's notice. They are also assisted by a sizable detachment of armoured vehicles and Hussar II Main Battle Tanks. The soldiers are equipped with experimental Zackarothian weaponry, and a good amount of FE rocket launching systems.

A message was lodged to the Polish government this morning demanding that the city of Bratislava be placed under Austrian administration and that the Poles retreat from the city or face a potential declaration of war. Currently, however, both the FFCE and Polish Military are at a clear disadvantage as they are outnumbered, outgunned, and no longer have access to technology.

Update: The Austro-Danubian Wehrmacht is currently mobilizing on the Austro-Calin border to deal with the Authoritarian menace.

OOC: Expect a better post later.

N.A.F to hold emergency summits
The North American government has announced today that it will be hosting an emergency summit in Silicon City due to recent events involving South America. Recently, the Federation of Socialist Republics has been undergoing a secession crisis involving the newly-declared Magellan Republic. This has caused an incredible increase in tensions within the South American continent, with rumors now developing throughout the internet that the FSR might-even be considering direct-action. To add further complexity too the situation, outside powers are now becoming increasingly involved. The Austro-Danubian Empire had begun military exercises nearby, coincidentally in perfect position to assist the Magellan Republic when it declared it's independence. The A.D.E was amongst the first nations to declare assistance to the Magellan Republic. Some within the federation have even argued that the entire independence campaign within the Magellan Republic was orchestrated by Austrian intelligence, though there is no known evidence to support that. These rumors combined with outside intervention has prompted the N.A.F to take a more direct approach on the matter. The Federal government's prime speaker, Richard F. Harrison, made the announcement earlier this morning, stating,
The North American Federation can not sit by and watch it's southern neighbors disintegrate from stability and be a cause of another potential conflict, especially with foreign powers getting involved. With approval from both Presidents as well as Congress, the Federation will be hosting a summit within our borders to talk out this crisis and avoid a conflict. The United Republics has volunteered to host the meeting, and has chosen Silicon City as the meeting place. We strongly urge the prime belligerents involved, the F.S.R and the Magellan nation, to attend this meeting. We also urge other nations to tread carefully in this crisis and to not attempt to further escalate this crisis. The Federal Navy has been put on standby and will take appropriate action if necessary to prevent further escalation. The N.A.F will not be taking a direct side in this affair, but if any of the prime belligerents takes an offensive action against the other, the N.A.F will directly get involved. So, this summit is the closest shot to peace as of right now and we highly encourage all belligerent to take it. It will be hosted on March 7th of this year...

Qantas Airways will outsource its operations, airline leaves Australia to establish in Japan
TOKYO- The North American Federation, Germanic Union and France recently announced new regulations of countries that will be flying into their airspace. This included Australian-based airliners, more specifically Qantas Airways which has over 30 flight destinations in Germany and the NAF, where the airlines even has an airport terminal. Failure to comply to such regulations would lead to an increase of prices and taxes.

Due to this necessary upgrades were made by the airlines to comply to all specifications that were to be given. Along with this, Qantas Airways and two Japanese Airliners agreed that Qantas's air fleet and airport hubs and destinations will be outsourced to the two airlines in a 50/50 share. The two airliners will have to divide the Australian-based carriers air fleet among themselves.

Even though Qantas' base of operations were moved from Australia to Japan, all shares and investors of Qantas were still given the right to own their stocks and continue gain dividends from them. Employees of Qantas will still keep their jobs to resume normal operations as like nothing has happened. Even the Australian government which owns 10% of Qantas total shares was allowed to keep such amount of stocks. The outsourcing of Qantas has opened way for a more integrated Asia-Pacific air carrier that will rival other major airline carriers around the world and thus saving extra costs from the American and German additional requirements.

The majority of troops will be focused on the Australian leased port of Varna to construct a military base near the TransGen shipyards.

The contingent will leave from Hobart Military Base on March 1 and arrive by March 16th or 17th. The 12th and 32nd Divisions will be transported from Australia by 10 Canberra Amphibious transports and 22 leased civilian transports, accompanied by 15 Northcott guided missile destroyers and 2 Collins-class submarines under the newly formed Black Sea Fleet. 42 AH-17s were also among the aircraft that will be transported to Bulgaria. KLASSENGEGENSATZ

The next instance of large-scale class war has appeared in Germany. An anonymous source with inside knowledge of the German Non-Partisan Coalition's operations has revealed documents and testimony to the World Worker alleging that an "underground party" was able to almost completely control the German government under Kaiser Wilhelm IV, giving the Kaiser near unlimited power. He was, in essence, an unofficial dictator. The German government is already known for being one of the least democratic governments in Europe, and these new findings only show the world that Germany is hardly able to be described as democratic at all. The new findings were confirmed when the World Worker took a look at public German records, confirming that the documents released by our source fill in a great number of gaps, and provide a good look at how the activities of this group were expressed in 'legal' German politics.

The actions taken by this party were intensely corrupt, and in the direct interests of the bourgeois as a class. Party members had the German government purchase military equipment from companies owned by friends at a huge markup. Party members also had strikes at businesses they held a stake in ruled illegal and broken by the police.

CRISIS IN THE SOUTH AMERICAN KREMLIN

The Federation has recently announced that it will attend talks in the NAF regarding the Magellan situation. After a period in which the Federal Assembly was in deadlock, the Assembly voted to attend summits in the NAF to resolve the conflict. The Magellan representatives did not vote of course, and had their positions temporarily suspended. It is possible that the military, which is nearly 90% Orostani and leans towards the anti-revisionist wing of the Communist party will consider the Magellan delegates that were known to support independence as traitors. The anti-revisionists, which make up nearly 40% of the congress, opposed the NAF summit. The NAF, which is viewed as the geopolitical successor the United States of America, is not a very agreeable country for the anti-revisionists. In the words of prominent Communist and anti-revisionist member of congress Julio Barbosa Higashi;

"The North American Federation is best described as a Nationalist Social Democracy degenerating towards liberalism"

Higashi is a favored candidate for an Orostani member of the executive council, and a noted voice in favor of the centralization of the FSR. Higashi was asked to join the FSR's diplomatic team to the NAF, and accepted to fulfill his "obligation to the Federation and socialism", even though personally he believes that the conference will benefit the Federation's enemies more than the Federation. The Federation State Department has announced that the FSR will have the following demands for peace will Magella:

The Economic front of this conflict is still taking shape. Should Magella enter the global market, the first thing that will likely happen is a global drop in the price of Magellan exports as Magella enters competition with other exporters of raw materials, more specifically exporters in Africa. Federation planners in Orostan will likely choose to buy from Africa instead of Magella due to the sudden boost in overhead costs of importing from Magella. Because of the planning network being cut off from Magella, the National Industrial Board is no longer receiving data or able to properly plan transport routes. That means that continued imports from Magella will have a higher overhead cost, certainly higher than the cost they had before. Because Africa has a lower cost for the actual raw materials, and about the same overhead costs, importing from Africa will seem to be much cheaper than importing from Magella. As the National Industrial Board bites into stockpiles of raw materials in Orostan to maintain the Federation's economy, it will have to make the choice to import from Africa eventually. The National Industrial Board will most likely prefer long term deals with African suppliers at slightly above market rate prices (to make sure that African suppliers prioritize selling to the FSR over Europe or Asia), meaning that if Magella does not let this conflict be resolved quickly there may be global economic consequences. For starters, the Federation buying African materials will still be cheaper than buying from Magella if there is a 'white peace'. That means that Europe and Asia may have to pay more for African materials, which will cause inflation as costs increase for most businesses. By that time, Magella's economy will be in ruins. Of course, by that time inflation would be a serious concern in the Federation and the NIB would have to take some controversial measures to halt it. Even if the Austrian Empire decides to purchase their raw materials from Magella, it will still cost more than buying from Africa. The Austrian Empire and other countries that wish to prop up Magella will suffer cost-push inflation from buying more expensive Magellan goods. Even if the Austrian Empire and other countries are able to switch over to buying Magellan goods through whatever government policy, they will still not be able to buy enough. For most of Europe, it's just cheaper to buy from Africa or the Soviet Union.

Even then, The Soviet Union, Pakistan, India, and China are the only economies with a large enough heavy industrial sector to buy up Magellan materials in a large enough quantity to save the Magellan economy. But they will not. For China, Asian, African, and Soviet materials are cheaper. For the Soviet Union, they produce a significant portion of their own raw material demand and it is much cheaper to buy from Asian countries or Africa through Persia's new transcontinental railroad. For India and Pakistan, it is cheaper to buy from Africa. Even if they did buy from Magella, it would still cause the inflation of their currencies. Unless Magella reduces it's working conditions and pay to African levels (which would no doubt cause major discontent), they cannot compete with Africa. The only way to save Magella's economy is to find a large heavy industrial economy that can and will buy their goods. The only nearby economy of that scale is the Federation.

An EGWRC military convoy arriving at an undisclosed Polish Nuclear Weapons Research Center at the Tatra Mountains.

The peace and quiet of the mountainous snow of the Slovak Tatra mountain range were interrupted by the sound of multiple military vehicles armed and equipped with heavy armor and machinery. The tires of the heavy vehicles were grinding along the cold stone road, leading to a gigantic, camouflaged facility building. The vehicles screeched as the drivers made an instant brake in front of the hidden facility, A soldier equipped with a Polish variant of the famous Russian Kalashnikov, moved closer to third vehicle of the convoy, and surveyed the area for any threats, alert as a bat, whilst another soldier opened the armored rear passenger door of the aforementioned vehicle. A woman, who was had a thin physique, but struck fear to everyone around her, delivering powerful and utter terror unto their hearts, stepped out of the vehicle, menacing, but quickly glaring at the soldier who opened the door for her. This woman's name is "Wielki Dowódca Pułkownik Naczelny i Wielki Przewodniczący Wschodnioeuropejskich Państw Socjalistycznych Ntalia Arłeta Kraszanka", or more commonly known as, President Kraszanka. Two men guarding the front door to the facility both synchronizingly raised their arm to salute as President Kraszanka walks at their direction. The second man used his left hand to open the door which Kraszanka entered.

The front room exhibits a loud room with fully equipped EGWRC soldiers patrolling the area, while men and women dressed in long white lab coats or dirty long sleeves with fur coats and red hard hats transporting materials or gathering materials on their mobile gadgets, relatively hardworking and uninterested on taking breaks. But as soon as the President enters the room the people inside the room stopped dead on their tracks, and all eyes on the room went to President Kraszanka, after a few seconds, the men saluted for respect for the President. She saluted back, and all the people on the room continued the work. President Kraszanka walked through the crowd of busy men and into an office of the facility, sending shivers down the spines of the people she walked by.

She opened and entered through the single door of the office of the facility, the office of "Wysoki Dowódca Badań Edmund Krzeminski". An officer with snow camouflage fatigues noticed President Kraszanka and immediately yelled "Wielki Dowódca Generał Pułkownik Obecny W Pokoju" to alert others of the President's presence. Every right hand on the room quickly saluted.

"At ease." says the President. Every man then nervously put their hand down and continued their duties. President Kraszanka then approached Edmund Krzeminski, a man in his 50's carrying a clipboard and wearing a white lab coat. "Nauczyciel Krzeminski, what is our current situation with our nuclear weapons program?" says the President. The man nervously chuckles with haste then continued to shakily reply to President Kraszanka's question. Panno Prezydencie, the nuclear weapons show great promise, the people in this facility predicts that the nuclear weapons will fit well with SLBM's that we have borrowed from the CIS." The President's eyes squinted in doubt and said, "I see, but why haven't you delivered the SLBM's to France for further testing? Edmund Krzeminski shook his head and replied, "Panno Prezydencie, with the tensions between our nation and the Democratic European Union because of the recent invasion of Bratislava, i believe that the nation of France will confiscate our weapons or simply decline to test it, so we decided that it is best if we keep it here, in the facility, or under the Błedow Desert. I hope you understand Panno Prezydencie. President Kraszanka sighed in anger, and said, "I understand, tell our ambassadors to the French and the DEU to maintain our relationship so we can continue our tests. Speaking of the invasion of Bratislava, i was told that Generał Armii Słowackiej Oleg Turkowski was present on this Facility, have you seen him? I wish to speak to him. Edmund nodded, and replied, "I shall do that Panno Prezydencie. Concerning your second request, i believe he is currently outside the facility. President Kraszanka fixed her high officer fatigues and said, "Of course Wysoki Dowódca Badań Edmund Krzeminski, please continue your work. The President then continued to the door, but stopped halfway there and said, "Edmund, tell the Adwokat Marynarki Wojennej to prime the PNS Warsaw with the SLBM's, and set the coordinates to 47.4979° North, 19.0402° East. Tell the governmental public speaker to tell the entire world that we can launch nuclear weapons at anytime, anywhere.". The man quickly became confused, and said, "Panno Prezydencie, where does those coordinates point to?" The President grinned, and said, "Budapest, The Austro-Danubian Empire's capital, my good Polish scientist."

President Kraszanka left the facility and met with Generał Armii Słowackiej Oleg Turkowski, the man in charge of troops in Slovakia. The General was smoking outside the facility, when he noticed the President, he threw away his cigarette and said, "Ntalia! What are you doing here? You should have called. The president's eyes were filled with anger, being forced to speak with a disrespectful man such as General Oleg. The President loudly said, "Generał Armii Słowackiej Oleg Turkowski! You will NOT call me by my first name informally. I have the highest rank that any man in the European States can achieve, and YOU will treat me with respect as your PRESIDENT, and as your GRAND COMMANDER GENERAL. This is your final warning, or i will strip you of your ranks and your dignity and i will throw you into jail and let you eat the dirt even Slovak peasants refuse to step on. Do you understand me? Generał Armii Słowackiej Oleg Turkowski?" The General bows his head and hides his face as he was publicly humiliated by the President, even his own soldiers guarding the facility now silently murmurs about what happened. Oleg regains his bravery to look at the President and said, "I apologize Panno Prezydencie." The President then took a deep breath and replied, "Now. I ask you to send 50 MRLS to Kosice, with 50 thousand soldiers, and exactly the same with the city of Presov, use all of your tanks to safeguard the major roads and highways of the region of Slovakia, and send the remaining Slovak soldiers of the entire army to guard the Tatra mountain, defend and hold nearby cities near the mountain, and use the terrain to our advantage." The General shakily said, "Yes Panno Prezydencie, i shall do that. The President nods and continues her requests. "While you are here at a military facility, contact the Commander Admiral of the Navy and tell him to ready the entire fleet to safeguard and patrol our coastline, and to ready the minelayers and deploy them 75 kilometers around the coastlines and to deploy the mines randomly around the area, but to leave tiny gaps so friendly ships can pass through. And also tell the Czech Army General to mobilize his troops. I'll leave it up to you and the rest of the general staff to prepare other defenses, I plan to make any invader pay for each step in blood. You are dismissed." The President then casually walks to her convoy that was waiting for her. Oleg then asked the President, "Panno Prezydencie, where are you going if i may ask?" The President opens the passenger door of the third car of the convoy, and said before getting inside, "I will mobilize my troops at the Polish - German border, defending our cities from a possible German attack. I have a feeling our great friend, Germany will try to do something stupid."

Magellan Independence Struggle

Just after the Magellan Republic gained its independence from the FSR, it gained recognition from a number of sovereign nations, including the ADE, Australia, Zackaroth, and the UK, among others. President Salamanca officially thanked all of these countries for their support and has openly stated her desire to increase relations with them. In order to allay fears that her actions were undemocratic, and to encourage more nations to recognize Magellan independence, she has officially announced that, in a week's time, Magella will conduct official national polls on the matter of secession. She has maintained her stance that she will not prevent or resist any decision that the nation's populace makes, but has also remained confident that they will support her decision.

Amid increasing Orostani tensions, and their decision to effectively sanction Magella, Salamanca has stated that she will do everything in her power to resist Orostan's "bullying tactics" and prevent them from forcefully taking Magella's sovereignty. While the full plan of her and he Cabinet have not been publicized, the first wave has, with the unveiling of almost a dozen deals with various nations.

With the Austro-Danubian Empire, Magella has sold Easter Island, Salas y Gómez Island, and surrounding islets for 1.25 billion, with the conditions that native Polynesian inhabitants are not negatively affected by any projects, Magellan inhabitants receive joint citizenship and can stay, military bases are unable to house nuclear weapons, and the two nations maintain joint control of the surrounding waters. The ADE was also able to establish two-three permanent military bases, with restrictions on size and armament, in Magella, and unrestricted to access to the free ports of Arica, Valparaiso, and Iqueque for commercial reasons. In return, the ADE agreed to assist in the protection of Magella’s sovereignty in the case of hostilities from the FSR, with 35,000 ADE troops already stationed near border areas, and cut all trades with Krasendof in favor of imports from Magella. This opened Magellan products to a wide new market.

With Australia, Magella signed a 200 million dollar Agricultural Trade Agreement, in which there is free trade of 200M worth of agricultural products between the two nations. In addition, many AusGroup constituent companies invested into much of the Magellan economy and infrastructure, establishing numerous new facilities for an investment of over 3 billion dollars. Similar to the ADE, Australia also gained access to Magellan ports free of duties.

With the Germanic Union, Magella signed an agreement allowing for the free trade of cars and chemicals from Germany to Magella and of petroleum and natural gas from Magella to Germany. In addition, the two agreed to mutually lowered tariffs, and the opening of a number of Volkswagen factories in Magella under the condition of protection of worker’s rights.

With the French commonwealth, Magella agreed to mutual reduced tariffs in Indochina and Algeria, concerning the trade of copper and fruit from Magella and motor vehicles and steel from France.

With the United Kingdom, Magella signed a free trade agreement concerning everything except horses rode in the English style, predicted to benefit the the Magellan exports of petroleum and natural gas, chemical wood products, fruits, and seafood, and the UK exports of chemicals, textiles, and metal products. In addition, Magella leased land for a military base to the UK near the FSR-Magella border, with the condition of annual renewal. Magella also received access to UK ports duty-free, as long as diplomats meeting British delegates wore orange or red articles of clothing.

In addition to these trade deals, the Mediterranean Commerce Guild expanded to Magella, with the first MCG embassies in Santiago and Valparaiso, with more planned in the future. These embassies provide information about supply and demand to aspiring entrepreneurs who wish to create, advising them for maximum success in exchange for 1% of profits (no consequences are forced upon them in case of no profits or loss).

Alongside these deals, the creation of a temporary Economic Overseeing Committee was also approved, to calculate approximations of supply and demand and set certain quotas. Salamanca has made abundantly clear that this Committee is temporary to maintain economic balance in such trying times, and that it is not a stepping stone into a planned economy which the people protested about beforehand.

With these new measures, economists have predicted a "relatively smooth transition", even with Orostani intentions of tanking the Magellan economy. Orostan accounts for around 5 billion of Magellan imports, mostly consisting of motor vehicles and parts, machinery, chemicals, steel and aluminum, and plastics. It also accounts for 3 billion of exports, mostly consisting of petroleum, chemical products, and machinery. With effective Orostani sanctions, Magella found itself with a surplus of petroleum, chemical products, and machinery, and in need of motor vehicles, chemicals, steel and aluminum, and machinery. It has solved this through its many trade deals. The petroleum and seafood products that Austria used to receive from Krasendof it would now receive from Magella. Germany would receive petroleum as well, and natural gas, and the UK would receive petroleum, seafood, chemical wood products, petrochemicals, and fruits. Australia and the French commonwealth would receive agricultural products, including grapes, peaches, pears, berries, and apples, with the French commonwealth also receiving copper. In return, Magella would receive motor vehicles and parts, chemicals, steel, textiles, and metal products. These deals effectively replace Orostan in Magella's foreign trade, and then some.

The costs of transporting such products across the world, however, would be much higher than if they were being moved across the continent. However, with Australian and Austrian free access to Magellan ports, and Magellan free access to United Kingdom ports, these costs will be much lower than expected. Salamanca is reportedly even in negotiations to gain access to more ports to reduce costs even further.

Regarding the Orostani newspaper's allegations that Magella's economy will be "in ruins" without Orostani support, economic analysts have responded in kind. Their claims that Magella's economy was "raw material-based", the very foundation of their predictions, was vastly incorrect. Although raw materials do take up a significant amount of Magella's trade, its economy is, in reality, relatively diversified. A global drop in the prices of Magella's exports was a rather worst-case scenario, most likely to only happen to the same proportion by which the prices increased when the FSR incorporated Magella. The FSR's predicted decision to buy from African nations rather than Magella could only serve to hurt their economy, by depriving itself of the largest source of copper in the world, by over five times as much as the next source. Foreign investments into Magella's economy, combined with the numerous lucrative new markets Magella gained access to once it's sovereignty was reacquired, should be enough to keep Magella's economy afloat with recovery from potential economic hits expected within a few years.

Regardless of the current economic situation in South America, Salamanca has often stated her support for a deescalation of tensions with the FSR and that she does not wish for war with them. As such, she has sent a high-ranking diplomatic delegation to the peace summit in Silicon City, supporting her actions.

Falling War Support

With the conflict now dragging on in Nigeria and with the CSN mission under scrutiny from the biological attacks, there has been a recent movement in Japan demanding the JSDF be recalled from the mission. Protests were held in Kyoto, Tokyo, and Osaka today by the Anti-CSN movement. The protests were peaceful and there were no arrests, however, this has led to the concern that future protests may not be as passive. The police force has stated that it will be fully mobilized should another protest occur to ensure that anarchist do not use this opportunity to create havoc. However, this discontent is now reaching the government itself with many members of the Assembly now pushing for an end to the CSN Mission. Prim Minister Abe is currently against this proposal, but many within the government are going back and forth, indicating that a withdrawal is a possibility.

The Hyūga Launches

The second Kongo Class Battlecruiser, the Hyūga, was launched today at the Abyss Subyards though with a much smaller launching ceremony then her sister ship. The Hyūga is part of the Flight I Group of Battlecrusers along with the third vessel in the class, the Fuso. All three of these vessels have the same exact design and technologies with no differences in size or any internal components. Hyūga did bring something unique to the table with the first squadron of MF-6 Blacktip subfighters in her hanger bay, officially bringing the improved craft into naval service. The Hyūga will be commencing trial maneuvers off of Okinawa for the next month. The Kongo program itself and the larger Lance programs are now under the scrutiny of the government as the delivery of the first Kongo was a full year behind schedule. Due to this the government has ceased construction funding for six of the vessels of the Flight III and IV variants. Flight II will still be completed but under heavy government supervision to ensure the expensive project does not fall behind scheduled again. The Fuso is expected to launch in three months.

1st Submarine Battlegroup Deployed

In light of recent developments in South America the Orbanis Navy has activated two submarine carriers, three submarine cruisers, and the Kongo to create Task Force 6, a sub-fleet of the 1s Battlegroup. This fleet will be operating off of the Chilean coast to act as a rapid response group in the area as the Osaka Doctrine states that the nation can technically be drawn into war if a Pacific Nation is attacked, even those in far away South America. This advanced force will not engage any force unless provoked.

Chaos Forces Non-Partisan Coalition to Dissolve!

Recently an Orostani newspaper with help from an anonymous source exposed the lies of the underground party. This has sparked massive backlash against the entire party almost 100 Ministers resigned from the Non-Partisan Coalition after they were found to be apart the Underground Party. The most major name being Adam Shoemaker who has seemed to had an almost laughable fall from grace ever sense the embarrassment in the Calin Civil War.

However, in addition to the 97 resigned ministers all but 2 members almost immediately worked to form the Greater Germany Party. A party that supports social conservatism, a mixed economy and a more traditional "Pro-Europe, Anti-Socialist" foreign policy.

In addition snap elections have been scheduled for next week to replace the resigned ministers.

In turn Robert Maxey has to choose a new Vice President and with a couple weeks to decide he has chosen former President Joseph Lenin. The former president has been receiving many mixed opinions but some say the two will be a very dynamic power for the good of Ukraine

The Confederacy of the Koreas and Thailand

As the countries of the world did about in their own affairs, the Confederacy of the Koreas and Thailand or the CKT grew in their shadows, waiting for its time to exert its influence after a long time since it gained its freedom, or so they said.

The story of the two Asian nations comes from a small part of history that includes the Empire of the Rising Sun, Japan. As the last King of Korea stepped down after years of oppressive authoritarian rule, the timid and honorable Japanese came to teach the values of justice, perseverance and hard work, values which the Koreans have strove to do in their lives up to the present. With Japan came a great age of prosperity and transition to modernization, railroads and ports were built, telephones and cars arrived, education, politics and the economy grew in an age of relative peace. However not everything was perfect.

As war became inevitable for Japan, the Japanese slowly became more authoritarian, a reminiscence of the the last King of Korea more than 20 years earlier. Small bands of Koreans voiced out their sentiments on this sudden change of tone from the Japanese. Their pleas came unanswered as the Japanese geared for war, and the time finally arrived. The attack on Pearl Harbor, 1941, shocked not only America but Korea as well.

Soon, thousands of Koreans were marching off to war, many would leave, only a few returned. The Japanese War for the Pacific was a bloody and long war. Soldiers of Korea were often pushed to fight in the front lines of divided China, the dense jungles of the Philippines and Indonesia, and the vast skies of the Pacific. The Greater East Asia Co Prosperity Sphere was taking shape, and was still growing. Then the route to Thailand was open for entry.

Unexpectedly, Thailand opened its borders for the Japanese Army to enter. Shouts of "Asia for the Asians" resounded throughout Thailand as the country became a strong ally for Japan against the West. A strong bond developed between Japan, Korea and Thailand, one which proved to be inseparable even through death. But the Pacific War soon turned tide, and the Rising Sun's rays slowly disappeared, until there was no more. The Japanese lost, and with it, their strong empire. An empire which the victorious Allies wanted for themselves.

As the Japanese signed their surrender on board the USS Missouri, Thailand and Korea hurriedly formed an alliance to protect themselves from the Western powers, an alliance which soon developed into a powerful confederacy that strides Southeast and Eastern Asia.

The Koreans were hardworking and were almost Japanese if not for their language and customs that served to propagate Korean culture in its existence. As the Pacific War ended, the Korean peninsula faced a serious dilemma, the reconstruction of its vast economy. As the Japanese were left to build their own islands, the Koreans were responsible to build their peninsula. Luck was however on their side, as the Koreans struck gold from the aids sent by the USSR and USA. As the Cold War intensified, the USSR took to developing heavy industry in North Korea while the South diversified its economy with help from the USA. A race of who can develop their areas of investment brought billions of dollars worth of investments and goods into Korea in which helped augment the country's economic development and further strengthening its own economy, giving birth to the (RL) Korea we have today.

In Southeast Asia, the Thai were more keen on keeping on the struggle of Japan for "Asia for the Asians", joining several conflicts in its neighboring countries in support of nationalistic movements against colonial powers. Although the country had seen rapid economic development during its monarchy years, the monarch soon became unpopular as the royal family became involved in several scandals and issues, and was replaced by a federal form of government that sought to liberalize Thailand's foreign policy on foreign countries, many of which were once the colonial powers it despised.

The Koreas and Thailand are two distinct groups, each unique, each proving to be nationalistic. The two have different systems of government, Korea having a centralized one, and Thailand a Federation of provinces. However the two countries are held by its goal of, not the old "Asia for the Asians", but with the motto of , "A new age of Asia", a motto the two countries agree to do for the following years. Korea and Thailand elect their own national leaders and politicians, however the two countries' legislatures are part of the "Asian Assembly", an assembly made up of Koreans and Thai who debate on the best course of the Confederation and help establish certain policies for the two countries to follow. The two countries are not allowed to interfere in the others internal and external affairs, except only through the Asian Assembly.

The Koreas is a wealth country, while Thailand may not be regarded as such. However a liberalization of trade and foreign policy will soon help Thailand and Korea create bigger economic opportunities for growth and development of the confederacy. The two countries still have their own militaries, however each country must aid the other in case of war or civil unrest.

As the CKT opens itself to the world, it is foreseeable that there may be in fact "A New age of Asia".

A PAF C130 carrying 64 soldiers. 20 arrived in Varna on March 15 after travelling 3,719 km in 6 hours
VARNA- The first batch of 20 C130's safely arrived in the newly upgraded Varna International Airport today in Bulgaria after a long journey of 3,715 km away from Gwandar Pakistan. The convoy of planes were carrying 1,840 soldiers from part of the Black Sea Fleet which originally planned to sail towards the Suez with civilian liners.

The civilian ship transports were docked at Gwandar by the 11th of March after travelling 11,296km from Hobart at 42km/h for a period of 11 days. Meanwhile most of Northcott frigates didnt escort the transport contingents and Canberra LSDs, , only 3 left with the Black Sea Fleet while the rest were ordered to sail east and take part in the Japanese convoy that would probably visit South America. They are bound to probably rendezvous in one of the APN Pacific Islands.

As the Suez was officially closed by British authorities to any vessel, both military and civilian, and the threat of attack from Austrian and URT naval assets in the Mediterranean, the Australian contingent opened negotiations with its fellow CIS member nation Pakistan that the Pakistan Air Force's air transport fleet would transport Australian soldiers to be stationed in Bulgaria. The Pakistan Air Force agreed the using of 20 of its C130's that have a maximum speed of 592km/hr and a range of 3,800 km, able to cover the distance between Varna and Gwandar at 6 hours and 28 minutes.

The route of the aircraft involved passing over the immense airspace of Iran, to which the Australians negotiated permission to fly over to.After a day of negotiations, the Iranians agreed and the operation to transport the soldiers, Operation Arch, was put underway carrying close to 1,840 soldiers. The C130's were given 30 minutes of respite and fueling before being set back again towards the Black Sea back to carry another batch of soldiers. The Australian leadership in Pakistan is trying to load up at least 2 batches per day, as a one batch of 1,840 troops would take a round flight of 12 hours, good enough to squeeze into a day as long as no delays are created in the journey. Full strength would be attained on or before April 3 or 4.

The C130's were escorted by 6 of Pakistan's FA-19S fighters.

|| Newly arrived troops in Bulgaria sent to Montana Oil Processing Plant|| Present Australian troops in Varna of 200 men will be absorbed into Black Sea Division || Ukraine and Australia reassure no hostilities between them || Canberra LSDs and AH-17s still awaiting further orders in Gwandar|| CIS in Pakistan to include PAF's A310 to carry more troops

Magnitude 5.2 earthquake strikes town of L'Aquila in central Italy, 7 buildings collapse, 3 people confirmed dead, 4 missing

Today a 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck the town of L'Aquila, population 73,000, damaging dozens of buildings and causing 7 buildings to collapse, leaving dozens injured, 3 confirmed dead, and 4 still missing in the rubble of the collapsed buildings. A newly installed earthquake rapid warning system, which monitors unnoticeable foreshocks which come moments before the full earthquake, was able to activate warning sirens throughout the town less than 30 seconds before the earthquake struck, allowing people indoors to quickly rush outside limiting loss of life. The sirens have been installed throughout earthquake zones 1 and the fringes of zone 2, the most severe zones where building collapse can occur.

The Civil Protection Department was quick to arrive at the scene with dozens of rescue workers scrambling to the rubble of the 7 collapsed buildings in L'Aquila to locate and extract any survivors or corpses trapped under the rubble, as of now 3 corpses have been extracted from 2 different sites of collapse, with most of the 4 missing persons expected to be deceased due to the fact that they have been trapped for almost an entire day now combined with the fact that the vast majority of the town consists of elderly people, means that their fragile bodies likely wouldn't have survived the initial fall.

The European Centre for Earthquake Engineering, based in Italy, said that the law requiring all new buildings constructed after 1971 in earthquake zone 1 and the fringes of zone 2 to be earthquake-proof (requiring isolated base foundations meaning buildings sway with the force of earthquakes as they are virtually detached from the base foundations with only rubber shock absorbers connecting the house to the base foundation) then the number of collapsed buildings would have been "drastically and catastrophically higher", as all of the buildings that collapsed were built pre-1971.

The Austro-Danubian Empire

March 15th, 2019

War With Calindelo!

Image
Martin von Habsburg-Lorraine
The Emperor of the Austrian and Danubian peoples sat in a simple chair -- as he preferred to do in these cases -- clad in a simple gray suit and tie. Around him stood the banners of his Empire and all of his Imperial domains: a reminder to the idea that was tuned to the beat of his heart. His face was as cold as a statue's, for he understood that history was an open book that was always being written, and that years from now little Austrian girls and little Austrian boys would be reading about the events that transpired

His address would be simple and brief, as was his style. Simple speeches were the most powerful.

"This Empire is threatened by a great evil at our border -- an evil that has been allowed sanctuary for far too long within Europe. The despotic Polish government in Calindelo were responsible for the murder of the late Empress Nicole and the massacre of her unarmed family. They were then permitted to fall to the tyrannies of dictatorship under the guise of the Worker's Front of Calindelo and the Kraszanka regime. This Kraszanka regime has proved so incompetent that, amidst stripping the rights away from her people, she took to slaughtering protesting Slovakians -- Danubians -- in the streets of Bratislava. Any nation that must resort to killing its own to keep the peace does not deserve the treatment enjoyed by the civilized powers of the world.

I can assure the public that this Empire has done everything in its power up until this point to end the senseless fighting that is putting hundreds of thousands of our Danubian brethren at harm, and it is with this in mind that I can confirm that Austro-Danubian soldiers have indeed crossed the Danube River and surrounded the city of Bratislava as a part of Operation Rubicon... both the FFCE and the Polish military forces there are utterly outmanned and outgunned. The Empire sent an ultimatum to the Kraszanka regime demanding the temporary forfeit of Bratislava in light of the hopeless situation that has besought her soldiers there, and what was the response? The public threat to use Weapons of Mass Destruction in an attempt to kill millions of Austro-Danubian citizens -- as if they haven't killed enough through their pointless bloodshed. Although I can assure that the combined Missile Defense Programs of the Germanic Union, the Austro-Danubian Empire, The Second Italian Republic, and the Fregantes Empire are enough to curb any nuclear assault they may send our way, both sides have crossed the Rubicon and there is no going back from where we are here. In an attempt to force us to give in they have only united us in our resolve to remove the tyrannic regime that would be willing to put millions of lives at risk in order to hold onto its power for just a little longer.

Now more than ever we must unite as an Austrian and a Danubian peoples in the face of our enemies. Now more than ever we must be the sword that journeys to where our European kin failed to in the past. We mustn't rest until the WFC is giving its last breathe at the gates of Warsaw, and until Ntalia Kraszanka is begging for her miserable life at our feet.

It is with all this being said that in partnership with our German brethren of the Germanic Union, the Triumvirate, and thus this Empire, is declaring a state of war on the Kraszanka regime and the government of Calindelo. We will fight because years from now little Austrian girls and little Austrian boys will be reading about how their grandfathers deposed the Wicked Witch of the East so that they may live at peace and happiness with their neighbors in Poland, and so that the Austrians of the future may sleep soundly at night without the ever present threat of nuclear annihilation at the hands of a despotic and mad leader.

God fights for the righteous ladies in gentlemen, so stand diligent and by his side in the times to come. Ave Imperator, morituri te salutant."

War With Calindelo!

Early this morning the final 'closed door' meeting was called by Ben Müller, the head of the new Greater Germany Party, to discuss the situation in neighboring Calindelo. While it has been confirmed that previous meeting where discussed in the Bundestag only now have they come to the conclusion that war is the best option for the future of Germany, Calindelo and Europe as a whole. By 11 in the morning local time the German foreign ministry notified the Calin government.

Quickly 20 Infantry Divisions, 5 Calvary and 6 Armored Division have been called to the Frontlines as well as 2 Paratrooper division just behind them to assist where needed.

In addition the Baltic and Reserve Fleets will create a blockade to all Calin ships entering the Baltic Sea.

They are expected to be reinforced with the North Atlantic fleet ships currently based in Krasendof in the coming weeks.

However for now the Helicopter Carrier recently bought from Libya stationed in the Baltic will protect the fleet from Submarine attack via ASW operations.

The GURAF is also setting up a no fly zone over Germany and the Blockade to ensure no third party will interfere as well as starve Calin forces from precious resources.

Salamanca's Plan Continues!

Just a couples weeks ago, Salamanca announced the beginnings of over a dozen trade and military agreements with foreign nations with powerful economies, in order to replace the missing Orostani markets. While vastly beneficial, it tended to rely on European nations over others, with only Australia as a non-European participator. Salamanca, however, had stated that she wanted to avoid overly relying on one nation or region, to avoid another Orostan-type situation, and she her actions have stayed consistent with her words. This next phase of her economic plan involves deals with Pacific nations, specifically Japan and China.

Along with Australia, these two nations are the powerhouses of the Pacific. Australia and Japan are actually now two of the most important contributors to Salamanca's plan. Japan's vastly large merchant fleet gained unrestricted access to Magellan ports taxation-free, providing Magellan products with yet another outlet, this time into the Asia-Pacific areas. Due to Japan's innumerable ports, this has reduced travel cots for mots of Magellan products, including those going to China and French Indonesia. Combined with the Australian National Line's right to Magellan ports, Magellan products can go effectively anywhere in the Pacific.

In addition, the Japanese offered assistance with an economic sector that had been brought up before but largely marginalized as a priority: mining in the Pacific coast. The long and large Magellan coastline takes up a substantial part of the Ring of Fire, an area where large tectonic plates collide to form oceanic trenches, volcanic arcs, and volcanic belts. This area is prone to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, however this also means that it is home to a large number of valuable minerals. This issue had largely been ignored due to the relatively low benefit to mining on land; however, the Japanese offered technology to assist in underwater mining, which will prove to have a much large quantity of minerals and ore. Salamanca and legislature are currently discussing such an endeavor, but with guaranteed Japanese help it is almost certain to pass.

The Japanese also offered some military assistance in case of FSR hostilities, in the form of a naval task force stationed along the Magellan coast. This submarine battlegroup, consisting of new Japanese submarine naval technologies, in the form of subcarries, subcruisers, and a battlecruiser. This rapid-response team will assist in the protection of Magellan sovereignty should the FSR choose to pursue hostilities. In addition, a number of Magellan sailors received admission to the Okinawa Subfighter Academy, to allow hands-on experiences with such technologies.

China, one of few heavy industrial powerhouses, is a giant economically, importing and exporting rather large quantities of a number of different things. China's wide variety of trading potential put it as a major potential trade partner of Magella, and Salamanca finalized such deals very recently. The two nations signed a free trade agreement, allowing a humongous new market for Magellan fruits, seafood, and petroleum products, and causing Magella to become a new market for Chinese plastic products, chemical products, and steel. Such imports, which Magella used to receive from Orostan, are finding good use in Magella. Orostan, and all its Magellan exports and imports, has finally been replaced by a number of different nations around the world, eliminating Magellan economic over dependency on any one nation.

Salamanca has stated, however, that these Asia-Pacific deals do not mean the end of the European ones. The USSR, the largest and one of the most militarily powerful nations in the world, agreed to mutually reduced tariffs on all products traded between the nations by 15%. Additionally, Magella has a 5% discount on all military equipment traded. The ADE has also offered an opportunity for Magellan officers and commanders to observe the war currently occurring in Poland, with the generals purportedly leaving soon. Key generals, second to only the Commander-in-Chief, will work with Edmund von Grau, with others in different undisclosed Army Groups. These observations of how soldiers of a militarily powerful nation like the ADE fight and strategize are expected to greatly enhance the quality of the Magellan military.

Finally, two weeks ago, Salamanca announced that official national polls would be held in order to encourage more nations to recognize the newly independent republic. These polls have been completed, recounts and everything. Overall, 69% of the nation supported Salamanca's move, significantly lower than the survey conducted in Santiago. The lowest public support for her move was, surprisingly, in the Chañaral Province, with only 50% of the 29,000 population supporting her move. However, since voting was compulsory, these results represent the true will of the Magellan people. Salamanca thanked everyone for expressing their opinion, no matter what side of the debate they are on, and has "made it her top priority" to answer the grievances of those who do not support her actions.

In Other News: Man detained for attempting to pass off a horse rode in the French style as a horse rode in the English style in a UK port; An eight-year-old boy staged a kidnapping to avoid telling his parents he drank some of their wine; Fitness Act slightly progresses through legislature, still being debated; Salamanca reportedly has a hidden third phase of her plan undergoing discussions; Cougar who attacked a car to allow the owner's pet corgi a ride on its back a couple months ago returned the dog unharmed with a haircut and cowboy costume; Fight breaks out in Santiago after a man said "Peruvian pisco is better"

URT and Co. attempt regime change on democratically-elected gov. of Poland

War rears its ugly head on the European Continent once again. The new victim; the democratically-elected government of Poland.

Those with long enough memories with recognise the free and fair democratic elections held in Poland not to long ago, that decided the fate of the nation. In the eyes of the political elite, of Strasbourg, that was not decided in their interests. The Socialist Government in Poland was elected by its people, with the full endorsement of the independent branches of the nation. Europe recognised these as true. Now, the URT and its' new puppet of Germany (having surrendered an independent foreign policy after the Austrian blunder) seek to destroy these democratic institutions and install their own government to tyrannise the people of Poland. This is reprehensible to the values of the Democratic European Union, is it not? The democratic government in Poland is given an ultimatum for not aligning with the interests of its brutish neighbours, the DEU has not spoken a word of condemnation. In response, they claim that the government in Poland is becoming a dictatorship and that the people must be liberated by the combined might of the Germanic and Roman terrorist forces. These false reasoning's cloud the debate. Everybody knows that they have wanted to overthrow the socialist's for ages, ever since they triumphed both militarily and politically against the corrupt elite. Everybody also knows that when they claim that they're fighting for democratic values, they're not really. When was their unilateral invasion of Iberia, when the police in Iberia began attacking voters? Where were they when Italy and the Ottoman Empire cracked down on the press? Nowhere. Poland happens to fight against imperialism and stand with its workers, so unfortunately it's top of the list to be overthrown. It is undoubtedly true that the URT or Germany will no allow the socialist's to win another election, especially after they go to pay for another expensive war. However this is all relying upon the fact that they become victorious. The Polish Factory Worker's obliterated the German Armed Forces last time, perhaps it's time again for them to be routed to oblivion.

Let's not, of course, forget the elephant in the room either. While the elected administration tackles terrorism in Poland, those seeking to invade only empower that movement. Any one vaguely familiar with reality will understand that creating a power vacuum within Poland will not only breed the terrorists, but give them a foothold in the country. Currently, the terrorist FFCE is curbed by the might of the Polish security forces, but once there are no security forces, the FFCE will run wild. The URT and their Germanic Puppet are so convinced of their personal desires that they are disregarding the future of the nation. Therefore, such a blatant attack against Poland, such a blatant attack against sovereignty will not be taken lightly by the Coalition of Independent States. A member-state has been attacked in broad daylight, over hypocrisy and regime change threats. If you believe Europe is fighting another war for democracy, you've got to be kidding yourself.

DEU ESF deploys to SNL

The DEU EIM's freedom of movement clauses between SNL and Calindelo has been suspended following the outbreak of war between the later and a coalition of the GU and URT. Under the terms of the DEU EIM, this is indeed a legal right of SNL. In addition to this measure, all forms of travel have been banned along the Calin-Ladvanian border even outside of the EIM. As a result, all travel and transportation between the two countries is now illegal including by foreign military and civilian forces. The airspace boundaries of SNL with Calindelo are also included in this. As per Protocol Two of the recently completed Common External Border Policy of the DEU EIM, ESF personnel have been deployed to Ladvania following a request by that nation's government to reinforce their borders, specifically with Calindelo. The ESF will thus ensure that these recent border regulations are not violated, and the integrity of the remainder of the EIM is maintained.

OOC: All of these details were discussed and agreed upon via telegram with SNL.

Italian government officially declares war on Calindelo, however confirms that no direct military action will be taken

Today the Council of Ministers met to officially declare a state of war between the 2nd Republic and Calindelo. During the declaration process the President and the Council of Ministers assured the public and international community in a live broadcast that no direct military action would be taken again the nation of Calindelo, the Minister of Defence summarised it as "No Italian boots on the ground, no Italian aircraft in the sky". This means that no Italian soldiers or aircraft will be fighting in Calindelo.

The reason for this is that recent poll displayed that only 23% of people in Italy support the Republic entering the 2nd Calin War, with 36% of people opposed to entering the war, and 41% unsure, showing how divided the nation is over Italian involvement in another war in Europe. With the several thousand Italian soliders who died in the last Calin war still fresh in the minds of the nation, any more loss of life over a bleak and desolate eastern European country which sucks the Italian aid budget dry would likely cause unrest among the populace, justifying the Council of Ministers decision to avoid any direct military involvement with the 2nd Calin war.

Despite this pledge of no boots on the ground or aircraft in the sky over Calindelo, the government has not completely ruled out taking action in Calindelo as there are several ways in which the Italian government can contribute to the war without the military entering the country.

Austrian Students in Barcelona (Flashback)

On a Christmas eve, the Barcelona Police Office has received few calls about partying Austria students. Two police cars were sent to the scene. Upon the arrival, the officers started asking the students standard questions and perform other standard procedures. However, after receiving a phone call from the command, the policemen warned the students not to turn the volume up and distract people from work but did not arrest them. The students were told that another attempt to interrupt the working people of the city will result in confiscation or even arrest.

Espalsio Welcomes the Magellan Republic

The prime minister has welcomed the decision of the Magellan government and people to break away from the south American socialist regime. He congratulated the president, peasants, and farmers of the Magaellan Republic with starting a new prosperous chapter in their lives. As a token of gratidue, the prime minister offered the Magellan government a special “Workers Scheme” where the countries will exchange farmers and peasants for a temporary period of time to gain more experience and learn from each other’s expertise. Espalsio has also offered to invest in the manufacturing sector of the Magellan republic to help their transition.

Espalsio and Calidelo

The Prime Minister Leos Avianni held a press conference regarding the situation in Calidelo where he expressed his concern about the country which has suffered from three wars.

Prime Minister:The times have changed. Only few remember those days when Espalsio and Calidelo were close allies in the Great European War. It was after the war when Spain has undergone major changes and our country had to sign a humiliating treaty. This was the time when the rightful royal family fled to the Balearic Islands and lost the power. But indeed we are back having grown stronger. This time, we will not enter the conflict and shift our focus to our agriculture and industry. To protect our citizens, the government has issued a red alert for our travelers to the country and pulled out our diplomatic staff from there.”

Espalsio invests in Galicia

To help the new country with the transition and recovery from Puertollano, Espalsio has invested more than 500 million euros in the industry and farms of Galicia and canceling all tariffs on Galician imports into the country. Furthermore, Espalsio increased its investments into the Galician companies by 19%. The Spanish Ministry of Treasury is also discussing the possibility to give subsidies to Galician farmers to help the working class.

In another news, Spain has pulled out of the Nigerian conflict to shift its focus on observing the situation in central Europe and possible mobilization if conflict does escalate beyond the borders.

Former PM of Espalsio has fled to Cannes, France and is looking for a citizenship in the Fregantese Empire. When asked the reason behind the move on the phone, he said:
"The political atmosphere in my country has changed. You do not know what to expect. To avoid problems, i just want to start it anew somewhere else."

Political and Economic Tension

After the brief and partially fruitful Persian Turkish war, nicknamed the Safavid-Ottoman War by amused observers, in which Turkish Syria was ceded to Zackarothian and Persian influenced Syria, and the Turkish government quickly conducted an internal purge of expansionists, the Persian economy saw some interesting changes. Akbar had apparently promised a quick and decisive victory for Persia, and massive economic concessions to Persia and her allies. This did not happen, Persia's "allies" did not follow through. Many far right parties have blamed Austrian Jewish Bankers and Italian Pasta Magnates for the defeat, and that the Persian Army would have won an easy war, but was "stabbed in the back" by socialist Akbar and foreign usurers. This belief is not present among the mainstream political sphere, but on the fringe it's not uncommon.
But the inconclusive war, war in general, and unseen foreign policy spectacles saw the Persian Surplus of roughly 100 Million descend to a 9 Billion Rial deficit. The Persian Stock Market had seen relatively undisturbed growth since Akbar's economic reform, but when the war started and in the weeks after it dropped from +17,000 to +15,000. Unemployment rose from 5.7% to 6.2% as concerned business had mass layoffs occur. It seems the Persian economy is entering a rough patch. Opposition leaders pounced on the opportunity, Akbar since his reelection has been somewhat teflon, attacks on him have bounced off, and the voters that reelected him in wide margins have not held regrets. A separate article will be shown explaining the detail of the situation in Parliament.

Akbar staring at opposing MPs in a tense parliamentary debate
Parliamentary Lions return to the fight

Recent economic and political concern has brought life back to Parliament, where the Social Democratic Union supermajority now has some problems. The People's Party led by Jamsheed Zartosht and the United Islamist Coalition led by Saeed Jalili (Opposition Leader) now furiously question the Prime Minister, especially the loss of over 9 Billion Rials of the budget, and now a budget deficit of roughly 3 billion has emerged. One issue has been the ARA or Agricultural Relief Administration, with a budget of roughly 15 Billion it's main priority has been agricultural infrastructure, and relief for the devastated agricultural sector. Initially it did much to rebuild the sector, and provided relief to farmers and farms devastated from war and the disastrous PGU economy policies. It provided relief to millions of farmers, and opinion polls showed that if a snap election was held, 24% of rural citizens would vote SDU, compared to 9% in the last snap election. However, the recent economic troubles have forced the budget to be raised to 18 Billion Rials. And recent issues with possible wasteful spending have raised question it's not financially solvent. Jamsheed Zartosht has engaged with tense debates with PM Akbar. Here is a transcript of the debate

PM Akbar: Mr Speaker, Time and time again, SDU economic leadership has allowed the record business profits, a compassionate healthcare system, a robust stock market, and a efficient tax code to occur. We rebuilt our economy from absolutely nothing, together as Persians we rebuilt. I haver 100% confidence in this government, that we can rebuild and reconstruct, we are assessing the budget, looking to cut waste, fraud, and abuse. We look to make sure our economy recovers from the current crisis, and that we can prevent another one.

(SDU Benches cheer)

Jamsheed Zartosht: Mr. Speaker, I am happy the Prime Minister makes promises to the house however the Right Honorable Prime Minister doesn't get the point, our economy is in a crisis because of underlying issues, issues that have happened as a result of "SDU economic leadership." I have said growth was only temporary, I am vindicated by these events. We must look to the ARA, which has failed to assist farmers in need, and whose budget balloons due to the bureaucratic mismanagement this government has not addressed. Instead of bluster, the People's Party wants the following. The dismissal of Arezu Khurshid, whose management has been thus far inefficient, a straightaway cut of 5 billion dollars, which can help us rebuild from the #SDUDeficit. An audit of the ARA, where we can truly determine it's effectiveness, whether it's a useful and helpful program, or another bloated SDU government program. We can offset unemployment through business tax cuts and ending taxation on the stock market, whose bloated weight has sunk the market. This will end the deficit, rebuild our economy, and set the nation on a different path.

(People's Party benches cheer)

PM Akbar: Mr. Speaker, the people's party just introduced a plan to target our farmers and actually grow the deficit. Since the foundation of the Republic, the agricultural sector has grown exponentially, by over 60% to be exact. The income of the average farmer has almost doubled. The People's Party leader air-quotes "SDU Economic Leadership," if he asks for it, there it is! The People's Party plan would reverse those gains due to completely unfounded shouts of waste and abuse, and GROW the deficit. Cutting the business tax, as the People's Party proposed, might add up to 50 Billion to the deficit! Ending taxation on speculation would incentivize dangerous risk tanking, would would implode our economy, and an audit might waste millions for something that the Honorable People's Leader quite frankly pulled out of his hat.

(SDU benches cheer and laugh)

Jamsheed Zartosht: Mr. Speaker, the claims of mismanagement are entirely real. Reports from inside the Agricultural Ministry have said so! Why does the Right Honorable Prime Minister oppose an audit??? Does he not want people to know? That is the only explanation, the audit would only cost of the SDU was leading it. So I propose the House establishes a multi party committee. Let's see the PM answer this one.
