Waltarnuss, Capitol city limits

The transport vehicles of the CSA began to pour into the fallen nation of Waltarnuss. The mercenary armies of Utopia moved in from the North, their lumbering APCs and tanks filing through the empty streets. Meanwhile, the futuristic flying transports of Vault began to fly in from the East, carrying several squads of Vault Marines. The blue and grey armor of the marines distinguished them from other armed forces of Vault and the CSA, and as the craft landed in a park the marines filed out of the craft and began to take up positions around the transport.

"Vault Line secure, advancing."

"Utopian forces have entered the city, moving towards Delta point. ETA 4 minutes."

"Hostiles spotted, undead class 2. Engaging." The hum of the Vault laser rifles began to fill the air, the bright blue of the rounds crossing the roads and striking their targets. While this was going on the Utopian forces began to engage the undead as well, their guns cracking with the sound of gunpowder and bullets ringing through the air.

"Hostiles down, securing location. Status of Thassiphoran forces?"

"Looks like they got sidetracked. Haven't arrived yet. We will hold position at this bridge and make sure it is secured."

"Copy that. Landing zone Alpha and Bravo secured. Awaiting reinforcements from Thassiphora and Megapolis."

Zenith-class* airship A12, 26 November, 11:00h

''All right, we're back in the air.''
''Lead navigator, I have heard from vault that they are currently fighting the ''undead''. I think it best to make haste.''
''We will be there quite soon, early in the afternoon tomorrow.''
''Some of the engineers were working out what kind of research outpost we can still construct with the construction modules we have left. They designed a pretty nifty installation, in my opinion.''
''Good. Anything else?''
''No Sue. That was all.''

Zenith-class airship A12, 27 November, 14:00h

-Through the intercom, a voice is heard all over the ship-
''We have arrived at our destination. Everyone on their posts. Commence flight-specific protocol.''

''Looking for a clear spot to construct our outpost... There! that spot is just right.''
''is the area clear of survivors and allies?''
''Yes, it is.''
''Are there any hostile forces present?''
''Yes, there are.''
''Deploy neutralisation team.''

Neutralisation team A12, ruïned Waltarnussian capital, 14:05h

-The members of the neutralisation team glide down from the airship with their MPAMB's*-
''Alright soldiers. We are approaching ground level. As practiced, start of by testing the non-lethal weapons. Capture if possible, otherwise neutralise. If in a life-threatening situation, lethal force is allowed. We are now within firing range. Take out any nearby hostiles.''
-A couple of the undead are shot down with tranquilizers guns. The team lands without incident. They go to work clearing the area of undead.-

Zenith-class airship A12, 27 November, 14:05h

''We just got the all-clear from the neutralisation team. They also said that they have captured several specimens for study.''
''Good. Everyone, initiate outpost construction. Maxwell, I would like you to contact vault. Ask them whether they want any assistence with their effort in the city center. We can send marines and deploy paratroopers.''
''It seams vault has prepared a landing zone for us.''
''Then let us make use of that advantage.''

Capital of Waltarnuss

A Vault officer was waiting at the landing zone as the Thassiphoran airship landed. His blue armor accented with the silver lines denoting rank in the Vault marines; his face hidden under the full helmet, same as all Vault military personnel. The officer looked towards one of the soldiers accompanying him and spoke over the radio located in their helmets.

"Haven't seen an airship in a while. That's Old Tech for sure." The officer then walked towards the Thassiphoran navigator exiting the ship and spoke through the mic located in his helmet.

"Greetings navigator. I am Captain Nextan of the Vault Marines, 13th Company. We have secured an area for your researchers to occupy if need be. We have not captured any of the undead at this time, all orders have been to neutralize to secure the area. I can provide a squad of marines to assist your research team if need be. The rest of our forces will move through the city to relieve the Utopian forces in the North." The captain began to type into a device located on his arm. "It looks like the CSA will be sending a group of federal armed forces as well. They should be arriving in a few days, although they will most likely be conducting their own operation." He then began to walk towards a tent that had been set up near the landing zone. Inside this tent were several portable servers and computers humming and passing along data. Most of the computers were Vault technology, and utilized holograms and artificial intelligence to assist the troops. "If you require logistical support we can assist in this matter."

Landing zone, ruïned Waltarnuss capital, 27 November, 16:00h

"Thank you, captain, but we are more than adequately equipped for this operation. We have already set up an outpost in the south-west city limits, out of the way of your operations. We have large garrisons in the ship and outpost and are able to deploy paratroopers and marines if you would like us to assist you in your effort."

Research outpost, ruïned Waltarnuss capital, 29 November, 12:30h

"Research coördinator, we might have found something."

"What is it then?"
"When we were analysing some infected blood samples with our new equipment, we found a previously unknown prion. Upon further analysis, it was shown to be present in every infected individual's blood. When we subjected vat-grown tissue to a small dose of the prion, it caused symptoms akin to those of the infected. It especially affected the neural tissue sample, which might explain the weird behaviour the infected show."
"So it appears that we have found the cause of the affliction?"
"Indeed so. Luckily, prionic diseases are easy to cure, but will still take some time to develop a proper enzymatic engine and to test its effect on fully infected individuals, but I think we might have the solution."

A messenger walked in saying: “Sir it looks like the dead have come to live in Waltarnuss, bu.”
“What? You mean zombies? How is that possible?” Said Halli Schnur
“I don’t know, but it seems thassipora is doing research, and CSA is fighting them.”
“Tell CSA we’re willing to help them if necessary. Also has our delegation reached Thassipora already?”
“I will CSA, and our delegation has reached thassipora a couple of minutes ago.”
“Good, I really want that telephone line.”

The great debating chamber, Triforam, 26 November, 12:30h

"Welcome, Floppieland delegation. It has come to our understanding that the loss of contact between our nations was caused by civil disturbances in Floppieland. Glad to hear it is over now."

"Your proposal to create a direct line of communication between our governments is one we would like to accept."
"But which type of data transfer should we use? Electronic deep-sea cables? Resonantic pylons?"
"EM radiation?"
"We will let our specialists work out the small details."
"Unless you have any suggestions."
"Anyway, let us contact Henry and tell him they can come back here again."

-aproximately five minutes later-

"Hello, this is council member Stevens speaking. Floppieland sent a delegation of their own, you can come back now already."

-A lot of static is heard, and noone responds-
"Council member Stevens here, answer me please. Hello?"
-More static is heard. After a while, an unknown voice answers-
"I am sorry."

BOOM
-A large explosion is heard, after which connection is lost. No further attempts to contact them are succesfull-

"I... I... I... don't know what to..."

"We are sorry, but this meeting is over."

After the meeting George went to Steven, and said: "Sir, if necessary Floppieland is willing to help you, and for the communication-line we have this great thing called: "fibre glass", goes with the speed of light! The computer-scientist will explain the details."
parliament
The minister of science said: "There are quite some questions surrounding Waltarnus: How did all these prehistoric animals survive there, but not here? Was there an older, more advanced society? What was their culture like? etc. Other nations are doing research now, so we need to do that too! We need to send biologists, geologists, anthropologists and archaeologists to Waltarnus. Yes, it will be costly sending all that equipment there, and it might be dangerous with the zombies, which is why we need to send some soldiers too, but there's so much we can learn from it, which the people of Waltarnuss can never tell us.
"But if the other nations are already doing research, why do we need to do research as well?" said the minister of national security, who feared that, now that order was restored, the funding for the research would come from his department.
"Thassipora is very hesitant when it comes to sharing information, and we're not certain what they're researching."
"Any other arguments?" Asked the chairman.
"Let's not forget that, in the unlikely situation of war, Science is the best weapon." Added a member of parliament.
"Are we ready to vote?" most member of parliament started nodding. "OK, same procedure as always: green for yes, red for no."
After five minutes the voting was over, and the chairman announced the results: "173 voted yes, 27 voted no, Unless any other decisions have to be made this meeting is finished. Nothing? Ok, Minister of science, please prepare your delegation"
niktor, a small village in Lniak a couple hours later.
the minster of culture and history's average day consisted of going to parliament, and then spending the rest of the day inside with a book, or maybe watching a movie. However today he was wearing an overall and rubber boots, and was standing in the middle of a muddy field, near an archaeological excavation, and he was very unhappy about it. He walked to the excavation leader and said: "this better be important."
"It is, the temple we discover itself is rare, but we found a book written in 601."
"What? That's the first writing we got from the city-state era, Is it written in transitional-flop* ? "
"Linguists are still translating, but they say it's only got traits of modern flop languages."
"So transitional-flop only existed for 250 years, that's really interesting."
"At least here in the west, but we need more excavations in the east to know for certain."
"Alright I'll talk to the parliament tomorrow."
"We're going to move this temple to a museum, we believe there's an older temple underneath."
"Alright I'm going now, I'll let you know what the parliament decides."
*Ancient flop languages are very different from modern flop languages, it looks like the languages changed a lot between the years 343 and 601, the languages spoken in that period are called transitional-flop.

Research outpost, ruïned Waltarnuss capital, 1 December, 14:30h

"Research coördinator, we have developed a cure."
"But that's great! Why are you so sad then?"
"Well, we have stumbled upon a problem. The disease acts like no other known prionic disease. It appears that this prionic disease can only really be cured in about 1 in 30 of the infected individuals. In the other cases it invariably leads to a lasting comatose state. There isn't really anything that can be done about it, for now at least. It would cost us years to develop a workaround for this problem."
"Well, at least it's a start. I'll make sure that the council and the CSA will hear abo..."
-The alarm goes off and a slightly panicked voice is heard over the intercom-
"Outpost security threatened. Large wave of infected incoming. Garrison respond. Outer perimeter compromised. Outer wall breached. Request external backup."
"M**********R!!! GET ME ON THE PHONE WITH AIRSHIP COMMAND RIGHT NOW!"
"Sir, calm down please."
"Ahem. Sorry. Get me on the phone with command and tell them to request backup from vault. This does not look good..."

“This area is bordered by the sea in the north, and by hills in every other direction.” Said the soldier. “There’s a village at the shore, and there’s road going south, which has been blocked by machineguns, like every exit. There’s no zombie in the whole area. In a couple of days a boat will arrive with more equipment, and armoured cars so you can move out of this area, any questions?” “no.” said all the scientists, and they then walked to the village.
Greg Aukcerman, the anthropologist, walked into a house and decided that, until the boat arrived, this will be his office. There wasn’t much in the house, only a table, chairs, bed, and statue of a man. He took pictures of it all, and looked close at the statue. It was the statue of a man, in some form of armour. A hero? a God? The owner of the house? He wrote all the ideas down in his notebook.
Flop parliament.
“And that’s why we need to start archaeological digs in the east” said the minister of culture and history.
“But we’ve been doing research for years and we’ve only found something interesting once.” protested the minister of national security, once again fearing that the money would come from his department.
“That means the chance of finding something interesting is only higher.” Said a member of parliament.
“But think of the costs.”
“Think of everything we can learn from it!”
2 hours of bickering later.
“sight, are we ready to vote?” asked the chairman. “OK, same procedure as always: green for yes, red for no.”
After 5 minutes the voting was over, and the chairman announced the result: 109 for, 91 against.
“Then I demand a referendum.” Said the minister of national security.
“Ok, the presidential elections are on 10 April, we’ll hold the referendum on 17 April. Anything else?” said the chairman.
“We haven’t heard from CSA for quite some time, I think we should call the embassy and check how they’re doing.”
“Any counterarguments? No? Then we’ll contact them.”

Waltarnuss Capital
2 days prior

The Vault forces began to sweep through the city. Despite the overwhelming numbers of the undead the technology and discipline of the seasoned Vault soldiers made short work of them. About one kilometer from the rendevous point with the Utopian forces an alarm began to ring through all devices.

"ALL FORCES, REGROUP AT LANDING SITES FOR WITHDRAWAL"

"What's going on sir?" One of the Vault marines asked the commander. The commander began to shake his fist.

"Class X scenario, all forces fall back! We're done here, prepare to return to Vault..."

"What should we tell Utopia? Or Thassiphora?"

"Don't bother, it will come out soon..."

Megapolis
1 day prior

It had been kept under wraps for the most part, until today. All communication and transport had been halted. Trade, tourism, delegates, none of that mattered now. The sprawling jewel of the CSA, the capitol city Megapolis, was on fire. The smoke and flames could be seen from many miles away. Reports were coming in that it was a seismic event, similar to the one that wiped out the old nation of Valcross. The ground itself split and fell into the earth, taking much of the city with it. Almost all the population was wiped out, not having the time to evacuate or find shelter. What remained of the population was cut off from help in the fire. Vault and Utopia tried to send in relief forces, but there was not much left to save, and many of the rescuers were lost in the quakes and fissures still plaguing the area. The decision was made to fall back a safe distance and try to plan out a strategy. Unfortunately Megapolis was the political glue that kept the alliance together. Many within the CSA began to question what could remain of their group.

Utopia

"Sir, we've just got the reports, we have had 20% of our population leave the city."

"This is madness" The CEO of Utopia Corp screamed, throwing the papers across the desk. "Why are we losing our citizens?"

"Many were survivors of the previous calamity sir, they came to this city to escape this madness, not be the next target."

"We cannot afford to have any more of our citizens leave. Prepare our Board of Directors and prepare a public statement, the nation of Utopia will be leaving the City States Alliance.

Ellis

The military council and federal government were watching the footage of Megapolis on a large monitor located about the podium. Many began reaching for phones located near their desk. The president of Ellis stood forward at the podium to speak to those present.

"Our nation is already in a state of emergency, the undead push on our borders every day, and we cannot afford to come to the aid of the CSA. They have not come to us when we needed them, it is time for us to concentrate on our own nation. As per our earlier vote, we will be withdrawing from the City States Alliance."

Vault

There was a mad scramble on the flight deck. Soldiers and officers were getting to where they needed to be, either to coordinate the withdrawal of all Vault personnel back to the city or to guard the several entrances from a reprisal from enemies that might strike when the nation was weak. The forces sent to rescue those in Megapolis had been withdrawn to prepare for this threat. The Military Council had gathered in the operations center to discuss their options.

"Commander Ehn, we have 78% troop withdrawal back to Vault. All consulate and foreign stations have been abandoned.

"Excellent, thank you. What of the territory status?"

"We have only heard back from a research station in the Island Territories, they will remain with the CSA. The Eastern Territories are reporting in gradually, we have heard from the regional capital Habsfield that they are remaining within the CSA as well.

"That's two small cities, some farmland, and a research station. With Utopia and Ellis gone, we don't have anything as a nation."

"...what do we do sir? We are the capital nation of the CSA now, all major City-States are gone except us."

"Maintain defense of all entry points into Vault, no one comes in that isn't Immortarium. Send all surviving non-Vault CSA forces to Habsfield, order them to hold the city and the surrounding area. That's all we can do for now..."

“I got a message from the embassy.” Said the minister of foreign affairs. “they said: Megapolis has been destroyed, the CSA doesn’t exist anymore. We don’t know what’s going to happen, but we’re going home.”
“Bloody hell.” Said Halli Schnur “We should send a delegation, to check if they need help and what’s going to happen next.”
“Mabey we can propose a military alliance with CSA, Thassipora and us? You know, to help each other in case of an attack?” Said the minister of Foreign affairs.
“Good idea, but do they know Thassipora?
“Don’t know, but if they don’t we could introduce them.”
“Any argument against? No? Ok, minster please prepare your delegation.” Said the chairman.
“Ok I’ll have them ready in 1 hour, if the weather is good they’ll be there around dinner time.”

Vault Entrance 3

The delegates from Floppieland had been halted outside of the snowy entrance to the sub-levels leading to Vault. The soldiers holding the entrance bore the green and brown armor that signified they were members of the Mudrakers squadron, known for being put on the frontlines of the worst battles.

"You're going to have to turn back. We are not allowing any foreign delegates in at this time." A hover tank moves towards the entrance to put itself between the delegation and the elevator. "Do not press this matter. We will contact you if this changes."

Vault, Skydeck

Several squads of Vault Marines were lined up on the deck, ready for deployment. Commander Ehn was preparing a small force to rendevous with the Eastern Territories, to ensure that the remaining CSA forces had made it safely. The transport ships were being prepped for the journey, with medical supplies as well for the wounded.

Habsfield, Eastern Territories

The small city of Habsfield was in turmoil. They were not prepared for the influx of refugees that would be coming in from all areas of the former CSA. Supplies such as food and medicine were running low, and the troops that made it to the city were not yet ready to properly defend the city from outside forces. Hopefully the Vault reinforcements would arrive soon, they would be needing their expertise for the days to come.

Research outpost, ruïned Waltarnuss capital, 3 December, 12:30h

-The alarm is still clearly audible, but no voice is heard over the intercom; only a metallic shrieking sound.-
-Zombies have overrun the outpost, shambling through the blood-stained corridors.-

Zenith-class airship A12, 3 December, 12:35h

"Council, the research outpost has been overrun by infected. We have requested Vault for backup, but they withdrew their forces instead of helping us. The place is now sprawling with infected, with more than we can ever take on alone. We are awaiting orders from you."
"And you said that they have found a cure for the disease?"
"That is correct."
"Then it is imperitive we reclaim the site."
"We will request backup from floppieland. They are the only ally we have left."
"What about the CSA?"
"That... is difficult to explain."
"You will need to stay there and monitor the situation."
"Keep the airship affloat. That is safer."
"Confirmed. We will keep the ship airborn and monitor the site until backup arrives."
-The line of communication between the airship and the council is broken.-
"If there'll ever be any backup."

Vault, Utilities Sector

The bright lights of the Utilities Tower cut through the darkness of the cave that made up the city of Vault. Commander Ehn was meeting with several members of the Construction Corps to discuss power output.

"Alright gentlemen" Commander Ehn sighed. "What required a military meeting?"

"Well sir, our output is optimized just for the main Vault sector and the outlying Residential Tower. I don't know if we can push this structure any further with all the refugees coming in."

"We haven't worked on the solar satellite project for some time, perhaps that's something we need to consider. We are going to have more people coming soon." Commander Ehn spoke into his communication device on his head. "Halt all drilling operations, we are going to be working on getting more power to Vault for the time being." Ehn dismissed himself from the group to move back to his vehicle, which had a device beeping on the console. As he pushed a button a hologram appeared above the console.

"Commander, we have heard reports that Thassiphora may have found a cure in the Waltarnuss capital."

"Hmm...that would be a huge boon to our forces facing the undead, and it may be what we need to get Ellis back into the fold. But I cannot afford to send any troops with the threats we are facing right now." He looked over the platform into the grey water that filled the floor of Vault. "I am giving permission to send a Knight* to the Waltarnuss capital to investigate. It is their prerogative if they choose to cooperate with Thassiphora or not."

Habsfield

The City of Flowers was beginning to calm down. Although resources were stretched to the limit the bountiful city and region had always been an area that the CSA had relied on for resources such as food. Thassiphorans were being allowed back into the territory as well, although they were not being allowed residency due to how many refugees had arrived in the city. The mayor of Habsfield had promised to do all he could to bring a sense of normalcy to the city, and had restarted one of the Spring festivals that had been cancelled due to the calamity.

Knight = A specialized officer in Vault.

Halli Schnurr happily walked to parliament: he was elected president again, he was even looking forward to hours of bickering for the most trivial of laws, even the fact that the archeological digs were rejected in the referendum couldn’t destroy his good mood. As he sat down, the chairman said: “First issue: The CSA rejected our proposal.”
“Understandable, it was a bit premature.” said Halli.
“Second issue: The Eastern Part got out of the war a lot better than we expected, and they’ve now proclaimed their own republic.”
“We’ve oppressed them for many years, invaded them three times, and neglected them for the last 16 years. If they want to be independent, they should be.”
“But if they have a big population again, we could use all that industry. Think of the money!” said a member of the center party.
“If we conquer it, most of the industry will be destroyed, and the cost of such a war are massive.”
“Ok, but we’ve owned those lands for hundreds of years, we’re the rightful owners.”
“Since the start of our republic, not 1 flop has walked into these lands, they’re a separate people and therefor have the right to be independent.”
2 hours of bickering later.
“we’re done debating?” asked the chairman. “Alright green for peace, red for war.”
After 5 minutes, all the votes were in and the chairman announced the result: “133 for peace, 67 for war.” A messenger was send, and came back 2 hours later, and said: “They want to make us pay for everything we have put them through, they declare war.” This was followed by a long silence, which was broken by Halli schnur: “Does this mean I’m wartime president?”
“We’ll have a vote” said the chairman. After the voting was done, the chairman announced the resulted: “180 for, 20 against.”
“We should defend Floppieland, but not invade them, move our troops to the border and put them in trenches, when enemy troops show up rain down hell upon them with artillery.”
“I’m on it” said the minister of international security

Zenith-class airship A12, 8 December, 13:00h

"We have unfortunate news, lead navigator."
"Floppieland is not sending backup. They are at war with one of their former provinces."
"Then what are we supposed to do?"
"We have sent a courier airship. It will bring you several units of the new biohazard combat suit prototype. We want you to send in your best operatives to infiltrate the base and retrieve the cure."
"I'll start preparing for then. Is there any other news?"
"Vault is going to send a "knight". It is supposed to be a kind of agent. Prepare a room for their arrival."

iorle military headquarters
“The terrain near the border is very hilly” said general Allin “So the trenches are dug between the hills, and on every hills there’s artillery. There’s a “dead zone” 10 km land inward, with artillery on every hill, if their tanks get to close to our lines, our troops will retreat using mechanized infantry. “
“Do we have control over the sky?”
“No enemy Zeppelins have been spotted yet”
“When will enemy troops arrive?” asked Halli Schnurr
“Satellite photos show big groups of trucks, who, if they keep moving at this speed, will arrive today.”
“Let’s hope to god that they won’t get past the dead zone.”

Private John stood in the trenches, while starting to hate his parents. They told him: “Join the army, Floppieland is an isolated nation, there never will be war, it’s easy money.” His train of thought was stopped by the sound of trumpets. The enemy was coming! He looked over the edge of the trench, and in the distance he saw tanks, the next moment there were explosions everywhere in front of him, almost immediately after that there were explosions all around him. He was scared, instead of shooting, which he was supposed to do, he threw himself on the ground. After 5 minutes he heard drums: the signal to retreat. He was dragged out of the trenches and tossed into an IFV, his job was to pull the trigger on the cannon, however he was in shock, and would only shoot after the rest of his squad threatened to throw him out. A couple of minutes after they drove into the dead zone, all hell broke loose behind them, however after a couple of minutes it stopped: the enemy was retreating! All the IFV quickly turned around and drove back to the front, waiting for the next move of the enemy

Undisclosed Location, Thassiphora

The spy had been caught fairly easily. The balding man stuck out like a sore thumb, as he was clearly not from Thassiphora. It didn't take much to learn who he was: A spy from Utopia, he was sent to make sure all the Utopian information that was held in the former CSA embassy was destroyed. Since the great breakup of the nations of the CSA, Utopia only cared about itself and profit. As the man began to sweat in the interrogation room, his lack of scruples became evident.

"I have no desire to be abandoned for some CSA nonsense. We are no longer a part of that nation. I assume that you won't be swayed by coin, so I offer you something just as valuable instead: Information" He leaned forward in his chair. "I'm sure you've heard this word thrown around a few times in the CSA: Immortarium. Vault is obsessed with it, it pretty much defines their nation. But it is a major state secret, only gossip circulates around what it actually is. But we know." A smile darts across his face "So I'll make a trade with you. You let me go, and I'll share all there is to know about the Immortarium." After several minutes of silence he knew he had the Thassiphoran's attention. "It used to be a legend, after all it defies all we know about biology and the human condition. The citizens of Vault, hell even a few members that reside in Utopia are Immortarium. They do not age, some have been alive since the early days of civilization. Don't let that fool you though, you can put a bullet in their head and they will die like the rest of us. But they won't be falling asleep in their bed never to wake up. They don't catch disease, they don't grow old. It's why they are so good at what they do. If you spent a couple of centuries doing nothing but fight, nothing but war, you would be pretty good as well."

Thassiphoran Interrogation Authority headquarters, Triforam

"That information is... interesting. However, I am afraid that we cannot let you go just yet. We will need to verify that you are speaking the truth. You say you are aware of their existance. Gives us a name. We will find out whether you are speaking the truth."

Interrogation HQ, Triforam

The spy began to sweat again. Confirm? How on Earth did they expect him to confirm a legend? It didn't matter what name he gave them, noone that was Immortarium would reveal it. "I'm not sure what good a name would do for you. Like I said, it is a closely guarded secret for millenia. The CEO of Utopia is Immortarium, and all Vault citizens are as well. That is one of the biggest conditions needed to live in that city. You encounter anyone from Vault, they are most likely hundreds of years old"

Waltarnuss Capital

The Knight's transport had finally landed in the ruined city. He had asked to be let down a few blocks away from the Thassiphoran base, he would see what he could find out about the forces present in this base before making his presence known. After scouting the area from a burned out building he felt satisfied with what he had learned of their strength. The Knight walked into the camp, his whole body covered with intricate and heavily adorned armor. Suddenly a sharp but old voice was heard from the blackened helmet and visor.

"Greetings, I am Knight Vas. I have been authorized by the Vault Military Council to conduct research operations in this sector. I have been told that you have found a cure for this...infection." He began to type into a computer located on his arm. "We are prepared to assist in operations being taken in this sector, if needed. My main priority however is to find this cure for Vault research to commence."

-The TIA-agent leaves the interrogation room-
"Do you think he's speaking the truth?"
"No, but I don't think he's lying either. He might actually believe it himself, but that doesn't make it true."
"Should we ask for an investigation?"
"It might be better to notify the council. They will choose whether and when to investigate this matter. In the meantime, how will we handle this spy?"
"He seems to be of no further use of us. The feromone chromatograph indicates that he's mostly just scared now. This implies he doesn't have any more tricks up his sleave."
"Very well. We have interrogated him enough regarding the nature of his intel on us to know he isn't a threat. We can safely send him home. On a one-way trip, that is."
"Understood."
-The agent re-enters the interrogation room-
"After carefull consideration, we have come to the conclusion that you are to be released. Thank you for your past coöperation."

Zenith-class airship A12

"Greetings, knight Vas. This is the lead navigator of the Zenith A12 speaking. We are about to start with the mission briefing for our infiltraton squad. They will be sent into the outpost to recover the cure from the infected. You may join us on this mission, if you wish. We will share our research into the cure with vault either way."
